    This is the tip i been looking for. I want the absolute thinnest wire i can get on a spinner bait. Of course i have always had a problem with spinner baits getting bent all out of shape and good for only 3 or 4 fish if I'm lucky. Thank you Justin Lucas for this tip.

    I can add to the split ring I use spinnerbaits for pike in summer and I use a bread tie on the end like that with the spilt ring just save a few from you bread put in table box hit it with a lighter plastic come off fast and your left with a thin strong peice of metal to tie off that loop

    I manufactured Spinnerbaits for many years.
    Sampo hardware is best for swivel.
    Make sure the blades have some weight. If hammered you should not see the impression through the blade.
    Skirt needs to be rubber and trimmed down.
    The blades need to engage immediately when bait hits the water.
    I really like the Megabass spinner baits.... natural colors

      I recently had a large bass literally bite the ex large willow blade off a 1/2oz spinnerbait i ws about to pull out of the water to make another cast..I only got to see its huge head. It was a name brand known for the amount of water it moves. it's very likely the split ring connected to the thin wire just got opened a bit and slipped through. But this was in the same spot, I lost an approx. 10 lb largemouth at the bank two weeks prior, where it broke my 30 lb braid and swam off with my spinnerbait still in its mouth. Same model of spinner bait. The only difference was that I ran out of the white boot-tail swimbaits that like to use as trailers, and used one that was half an inch shorter. lol!

    • @JustinLucasFishing
      @JustinLucasFishing  Год назад +4

      It is tough. There’s two ways to do it. Either try and wrap it around both wires or push it over the top with a pair of pliers. Once you get it on there correctly, it won’t come off and it will be worth the effort! Good luck out there!

  • @DaveC409
    @DaveC409 Год назад +5

    I’m confused as to why that split ring would “take time to get it right.” Don’t you just put it over the wires before you tie the spinnerbait on or am I missing something?

    • @JustinLucasFishing
      @JustinLucasFishing  Год назад +8

      You can either try and push it over the top with pliers or open it up and wrap around the wires, but have to be careful with it because the #1 split ring is so small it bends out easily if you try to wrap and can be really tough to push over the top on some spinnerbaits. I’ve noticed every brand is different in how easy or not it is to get it set up. Hope this makes sense.

    • @JustinLucasFishing
      @JustinLucasFishing  11 месяцев назад +1

      Pushing it over the R bend is totally fine. I do this with a pair of pliers. If I can’t push it over then I have to open the split ring and thread it through the other side. Hope this helps!

    These tips and secrets and "hacks" are great. I often use em. What I don't understand is:
    The bait companies. I'm sure I'm not the only person that watches these videos. Why aren't the manufacturers taking this information and running with it? They could very easily implement some of these things. I mean I've seen some pretty innovative suggestions and hacks that would be so easy for the manufacturer to incorporate into existing products that it's just silly that they don't. I dunno
