Thank you for this. Such a treasure. I saw her in so many things including a revival of The King and I --Yul went on vacation and she came in as Anna which shifted the focus back to the original focus. She sang in her head voice. Lovely. Thank you, Angela, for so many exciting and enjoyable times in the theater.
Thank you so much for this. I cannot believe it was in 2010! I made the trip to NYC just to see Angela again. She was as mesmerizing and wonderful as this clip shows. It was full circle for me as I had seen the original production with Glynnis Johns in 1974. Thank you for this memory. (I'd give anything for a full vid of the production...)
A forgotten song: It is written, Psalm 92: 1 "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound."
I was lucky to see her in this twice and in other shows. As the star of my first musical obsession, Mame, I feel like I owe her a lot for enticing me into a life of musical theatre 🖤
I h ave been watching posts you posted with Angela all day, Thank you its a joy on this sad day and thank you in General for all your wonderful posts whoever you may be.....Ive a friend or two in the world of Broadway If you are one of them remind me I owe you a big hug next time I see you
It's still a shock, thank you Aurora for these clips, is there any chance you could upload the Wooden Ring scene or the Final Scene I have only seen Stritch and Resnick's version.
Sort of mind-boggling to think now Sondheim has left us, Angela has left us, but Glynis Johns, the original Desiree, is 99 and still living.
You cursed her
She, too, is gone now. But, unlike so many, she actually made it to her 100th!
RIP to One of our Greatest Stars of the Screen and Stage.
Dame Angela Lansbury will always be my all time Favourite Actress.
There are no words, so I’ll follow Marian Seldes’ example and smile, silently and gratefully.
This makes me think of their appearance together in, Deuce. They're now leading the heavenly revue 🙏🏾
84 and she hadn't missed a beat. She passed this week at 96 and she was a giant.....

What a performance! Miss Lansbury will be sorely missed!
I saw this production and she was hilarious. Third smile.

Had the honor to see her in this as a child. Rest easy, dame ❤
Just saw the news. Heartbroken. But 98 is a hell of a run. Or a heavenly one. We have all been so blessed by her talents.
She was 96, passed five days before her 97th birthday
She was 96
She was just 5 days from turning 97.

I saw this show. It was sung and cast so perfectly.
I was lucky to see her in this twice and in other shows. As the star of my first musical obsession, Mame, I feel like I owe her a lot for enticing me into a life of musical theatre 🖤

I swear it was only yesterday I had left a comment on her work on your channel, and now…no words. RIP 😔

How much I miss her.
I got the chance to watch it live!!!! Thnak God!!!!
I adored Dame As Angela. I saw her live twice, in Gypsy and Sweeney Todd.
This character is so reminiscent of the Dowager Countess from Downton Abbey.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
She was better than Hermione Gingold, the original Madame Armfeldt. Gingold relied on her eccentricity. Lansbury acts it.
"Mother's misguided.
La.
La.
LAAAA."
❤💛🖤⚘
Is this the same show as the film with Diana Rigg and Elizabeth Taylor?
Yes
Who is the young actress at the beginning?
Rlp
Hermione Gingold was the best.
Regina Resnick was the best.
