Went to see it on Thursday it was phenomenal and waiting at stage door to see Imelda come out and sign programmes! She's so humble and soooo tiny! But what a powerhouse on stage! Went with my very bestie Jo Press!

Saw this on 10th August with my daughter. It's one of our favourite films, so we weren't sure if the stage show would live up to the film, but my goodness, if Imelda Staunton doesn't win an award for her portrayal, then something is wrong. The entire show was absolutely wonderful and brilliantly staged. Loved every minute.

I had to watch this show twice with my wife! Hello Dolly is such a phenomenal show! It stirs up warm feelings of joy and happiness in the soul! The show is a true testament to great story telling and song writting that's stood the test of time!

Saw Hello Dolly in January 2019 in Fort Worth, TX. Carolee Carmello played Dolly. I had a smile on my face the entire play. Just so entertaining!

She’s wonderful. She sounds like Streisand! Intonation too. I was a little disappointed by Andy Nyman, but then I had the great Walter Matthau In mind. I did love Andy as Topol. The rest of the cast is stellar

Her voice has weakened a little.

@@Nylgk You don't have to be THAT old to have seen Miss Channing in the role... she did it for a VERY long time!! (I saw her 'Dolly' in SF, circa 1996/7)

What I find so annoying, is when the audience stands up when the actors on stage are doing their finale. So rude. What about those people who are not as nimble getting up and down easily. Then Imelda walks on as Queen Bee. It's all part of the show, it's in the script. It happens the same every night and the audiences fall for it. I would have liked to have seen Bette Midler playing this roll at the LP. The best Dolly for me was the film version with Barbara Streisand. The show is running for less than 2 months at the LP, so why all of these official opening night RUclips videos, with Z-Listers praising Imelda which is so over the top and it feels scripted. No mention about any of the other cast.

Barbra Steisand, age 24 when filming Hello Dolly!, and before Funny Girl was released was simply too young to play a long-grieving widow. She knew that and tried to extricate herself from the film. So she played up the comedy and sang the helll out of the score. quite rigthly. But the film lost its emothional heart which is what in particular Dominc Cooke's prodiction was restoring. Interfering with everyone else's lives is Dolly's escape from loneliness. And this production captures it perfectly; it's why many in the audience shed a tear. Bette Midler was star-casting but she didn't delve into the character, went off script a lot, and turned the proudction into Hello Bette! Thiis is why Imelda Stuanton gives the show such an emotional punch and the critics praised it so. She has created a truly believable Dolly and not a Broadwaay 'turn".

@@williamgardiner2010 I think Barbara Striesand in Hello Dolly (movie) did what the Director asked her to do, and had the imense talent to do a great job, and she continues to be an International Super Star today.. Likewise with any performer. They do as Directed. The LP show is not a sell out show. Lots of empty seats when I last checked. Thank you for your comment. Star Casting brings people in to the theare. I'm guessing had Bette M been Dolly in the LP show, it would have been a 100% sell out show.
