hey great job...iam trying to replace all speakers also. But i have a question on the rear back panel when u put the 6x9 did u cut out the holes on the inside panel or did u leave it the way it was?
Thanks for posting! I also own a 2012 Chevy Cruze and have been researching installs for weeks trying to see how someone else might have done it. I'm thinking of adding a DVD in dash navigation to mine. But haven't priced out the kits for it yet. Thanks again!
i dont get how you attached the new speaker wires from the amp to the existing ones? Did you just strip the insulation away or something? Also, aren't you sending signals back to the headunit by tapping into the existing speaker wires?
Thanks again for the info. I think what I'll do is use your instructions and incorporate a switch between the fuse and amp that would turn the power off to the amp just in case.
I have a question since your the youtube goto guy it seems like, can a 2012 cruze battery be sufficient enough to run 2 10's and a nice sized amp ? or will it drain the battery and dim the lights when it hits ?
So the wires you used as source are the same speaker wires you use to amplify the speakers? So you tap the factory wires and put them in the amp, then cut the factory wires and splice them into the wires from the amp?
I have a 2014 Lt RS and I want to add 6x9s in my rear deck but don't want to add an amp. I'm not familiar with wiring really so what the best and easy way to run wires to the back for speakers?.
What if you wanted to also add an eq like the clarion would you be able to access the radios outputs from the speaker wire compartment or would you have to take out the stock radio and do it from there?
Very well done. Nice score on finding a good spot to splice into the factory wires. That saves a whole lotta time and problems!!! I thank you just for that, alone .
I have a mono D class amp. First, Would I be able to just tie the 2 + and 2 - wires from the LOC and run it to one speaker? Second, where did you plug in the speaker wires you cut not connected to the high input? Because I have 2 12" kickers. Would I plug the speakers into the amp where the subs are too?
Did you ever figure out how? I wanna put a powered sub under my seat and I don’t seem to know how to tap into the speaker wire to connect it to the hi input in the sub
It’s a much easier way than that to run the power wire. No poking a hole through grommet. It’s a rubber cover with wires on the firewall, on the left side of the brake pedal, right behind the battery if you’re looking in from the engine. No tools needed, it lifts up easily.
how did you put the 6x9s in, did you just screw them facing up to the bracket? or did you pull up the carpet on the shelf and drop them into the hole then screw them in?
I cut the speaker wires, the red and blue terminals in video are radio end of speaker wire (running to hi input) The clear terminals are the speaker end of wires. (hooked up to the output of the amp.
Thanks for taking the time to show this, do you know if the stock radio would be able to handle it if I hook up a Kicker 400.1 ZX and a Kicker S12L7? Thanks.
Curious if you think the 2013 chevy malibu 1lt has the same wire colors. I used to drive saabs and they were pretty much all the same across the board for me
Great video, it was very helpful. I have a question about the connections. If the power is connected to the 12V fuse, does that mean the amp will stay on even if you turn off the radio? I know power only runs when the key is in the ignition, but if you turned off the radio (say mid drive), would the amp remain on until you turn off the car?
I did the exact same thing you do on tapping your speakers wires, i ran two runs of 0 gauge through in that same location one going up the passenger side and they other going up driver side i have eight runs of speakers wires going to trunk it was a nightmare but it works and now i'm loud.
Lol I been my own install for 25+ yrs when pull outs were around it would be nice to show the wires running in the sheath along the side and how all the side trim comes out that's all name calling too ur a jerk off 😭
Whats is the rms power of your amp? How many ohms are you planning pushing your amp at? If your running 1500 rms at 1 ohm using 0 gage wire you should def use a second battery in your trunk!
Ive never has any Issues, You can buy any brand 6x9's and any brand amp you like. I did hear the 2011 cruze has different color speaker wires, You should check into that first. It might be the same but before you start a install, it would be easier knowing speaker wire colors first if it is different
What is the name and wattage of the amplifier you used? Also, what is the “way” of your 6x9’s? I would like to know the name of the products you used, is all. Thank you.
can you explain the speaker hook up in a little more detail. I plan on using a 4 channel amp. Does your fader operate with the hook up in your vid? I also plan on 6x9s.
please help asap! im not looking to amplify any speakers, just a single 12 with monoblock amp, it has the high volume input, just not sure which wire i should cut and put into it if im not amplifying the speakers????!!
Yea, you used to have to run separate, now a days they sell premium wire so you don't have to waste your time pulling up extra trim. Run it right next to each other with no interference.
Ok i just started this job today, we mounted the 2 6x9's and i just started running the power wire through the grommit. One question i was watching the video again and was wondering about the high level with the 4 channel amp. If i wanted to amplify the 4 speakers int he fron and the 6x9's how would i wire this? When i use the high levels for the front 2 speakers do they automatically get amplified? Thanks!
i am wanting to do this is my cruze only i am hooking up subs not amplifying all the speakers i just want to hook my subs how would i do that i guess i am not understanding the taping into the other wires can u explain that part to me please
I have a 2013 cruze for my son and going to tap to speakers by hood opener too. Looking at your speaker wire colors, I saw 2 or 3 different blue wires? Which one is which? Thanks
If you go back down following the panels on the side in between driver and rear that Panel that sits under driver seat belt, remove it and you can see your speaker wires there also
Instead of running a remote wire to a fuse, I hooked one end into the remote terminal, and one into the positive terminal in the amp, and put a switch in the middle so I can turn it on or off whenever I want to.
You still stuck in the 90's? They sell premium speaker wire and rca jacks now a days that you can run right next to your power with no signal degradation no EMI or RFI. If you spend a few extra bucks it will save you alot of time from pulling up all the trim from the other side! Glad i could help you. I have 0 interference noise!
Everything for me has worked so far, except getting through the grommet. I pushed the coat hanger on the inside and it pops out through on the other side but it's through like a group of wires that resembles a thick hose. That didn't seem right to me because I tapes my four gauge wire to it and it was pushing on the tape around the "hose". I figured my wire was coming out wrong on the engine side, it's hard to tell on the video, please help.
You will not need a second battery. Your alternator will handle it without dim. If your pushing subs you should use at least 6 gage wire or lower for your amp.
make a little slit on the top of the grommet with a razor blade, be sure not to knick any stock wires. push the coat hanger thru, tape 4 gage to it ,pull back into car. if you see other wires, your to low on grommet and are seeing stock wires. redo higher on grommet
I explained in the video that you need to buy a line out converter if you dont have high input on your amp. Line out converter hooks up to speaker wires and you plug your rca jacks into it.
I had my stereo system hooked up professionally but the guy that installed it is at a town I’m selling my car so I have to pull my stuff out I have a four channel amp and a mono amp and a 6lci under my dash near where you tied in your wires. Would I need to pull my factory head unit out do you think he attached something in the back of the stereo because I have to pull the LCI6 2 amps I don’t care about the wires because I’m going to buy a new wire set up I just want my aunts Emma Elsia and I won’t the factory door speakers to play when I traded in tomorrow
if i were to send the u a link to the LOC that i purchased, would u be able to tell me where the wires would connect to?? im just a little confused what that remote turn on connection
is the middle wire of the high input a grounding wire? if so do I need to find an alternate ground location or could I piggy back off the ground connected to the amp?
sorry i dont know if i made myself clear on the last post when you tap into the speaker wires do you cut them and attack the speaker wire you are going to connect to the amp please get back with me this is the only video i can find that i get the most out of thank you sorry for confusion
Don't attach a jumper line off your speaker wire for you amp. In other words if your leaving your stock speakers hooked up to the radio you cant just tie in another speaker wire to run your amp. (read up on ohms & impedance for reasons why) What I would do in your case is run 2 amps. Cut back speakers for signal for sub amp and cut front speakers for signal for highs amp for all stock speakers.
You should have mentioned the amp ground wire, but anyway good video. I just put a 50x4 Alpine with a front component set and rear 6.75" coax, then an Alpine 500x1 amp into and R-type Alpine 10"... stuff slams and doesn't rattle the car to pieces.
I did not cut the rear deck 6x9 holes. I was going to but the stock speakers sounded so good, so i didnt cut it, I use the 6x9 more for bass. If you want to use the 6x9 for your hi's, you will have to cut holes into rear deck
Can we hook all the 4 stock speakers to the amplifier with the stock radio. Two of my speaker wires go to the outline converter box. Please tell me how can i hook 4 of them?
jonathan yodichkas hooking one speaker up gets rid of the songs that have multiple points where it will output sound on the left side the right such as "Dude looks like a lady". The beginning of the song starts out in left then right for a few seconds if you've ever listened to it
I bought a wire harness that added a l.o.c to the stock radio..cus I wanna keep the stock touch screen...all I have to do is switch it out to run the amp...my question is if I add a 2nd amp to get the 4 channel speakers hooked up do I still cut those speaker wires from the left driver side to the 4 channel amp?..also can I use a male and female universal quick disconnect instead of splicing them together??to keep it looking clean and plugging them back to normal..anybody??
haha I knew it! I'll be doing a complete stereo retrofit in my '12 Sonic if I keep it much longer. The stock radio is terrible, so this video helps a bit. Thanks man.
i am wanting to do this is my cruze only i am hooking up subs not amplifying all the speakers i just want to hook my subs how would i do that i guess i am not understanding the taping into the other wires can u explain that part to me please
Im not sure if the 2013 cruze has the same color speaker wire as the 2012 (It might) You prob want to look it up first. If its the same, the + dark blue wire will have the - brown with dark blue stripe right next to it.
This guy is correct. ^^^ amp will have what amounts to a sub out as well as standard speaker outs, as long as its not an amp built strictly for the door speakers or strictly for a sub
pleez help i have a s10 i have a sub in it and wen i turn the car off and then back on and the stereo wont play unless i unplug the rca and i got to do that every time and im broke and cant afford a line converter its pane in the a$ $ so pleez help
hey great job...iam trying to replace all speakers also. But i have a question on the rear back panel when u put the 6x9 did u cut out the holes on the inside panel or did u leave it the way it was?

perfect instructions on this car, i would have had no idea where the master speaker wiring is.
i dont get how you attached the new speaker wires from the amp to the existing ones? Did you just strip the insulation away or something? Also, aren't you sending signals back to the headunit by tapping into the existing speaker wires?
Do those speaker cutouts have wiring ? In the rear deck? I have a 2011 Cruze.
Thanks again for the info. I think what I'll do is use your instructions and incorporate a switch between the fuse and amp that would turn the power off to the amp just in case.
Doing this on a customers car, and this video helped a ton as I'm not familiar with new cars and ideal locations to wire stuff
Dropping in 2-12's tomorrow! Thank you brother!
Did you remove any of the rear deck? It seems kinda thick and I wondered how the speakers sound with the material still there.
I have a question since your the youtube goto guy it seems like, can a 2012 cruze battery be sufficient enough to run 2 10's and a nice sized amp ? or will it drain the battery and dim the lights when it hits ?

How did you connect the 6x9s speakers was it slice with the rear speakers?... that's where I get confused at.
For the high level inout does it make any difference if you tap into the rear speakers vs front speakers?
So if my aftermarket headunit has like 6 rca Jack's coming off the back then I should have no problem wiring after market door speakers and subs?
It’s a much easier way than that to run the power wire. No poking a hole through grommet. It’s a rubber cover with wires on the firewall, on the left side of the brake pedal, right behind the battery if you’re looking in from the engine. No tools needed, it lifts up easily.

I watched this video 10 times already lol he's soo helping me I'm about to buy a amp I want louder music lol I also drive a 2012 Chevy Cruze
I used to drive saabs and they were pretty much all the same across the board for me
So you left 2 speakers connected to the head unit and connected 4 to the amp ?
So how loud is your door chime now? Seemed pretty loud in the video & I've heard there's no way to turn it down. Your experience / suggestions?

Thank you so much. I'll be installing a large subwoofer amp in a 2013 Cruze and this is exactly the information I needed. Great Video.
Yes, you would still need the "add a circuit" The L.O.C hooks up to speaker wire and converts it into rca jacks.
can you explain the speaker hook up in a little more detail. I plan on using a 4 channel amp. Does your fader operate with the hook up in your vid? I also plan on 6x9s.
And also do i attach both of the high level plugs? The amp has a top place and bottom place to attach the connector. The amp is the Dual XPa4640
please help asap! im not looking to amplify any speakers, just a single 12 with monoblock amp, it has the high volume input, just not sure which wire i should cut and put into it if im not amplifying the speakers????!!

Or does it play through the carpet thank u sir

thumbs up for the coat hanger trick. used it many times.

Subbed because of this video.. thanks from Canada
What is the Ohm's on these stock chevy cruze speakers? I plan to do what you did and I want to get the right amp for them and my 6x9's.
instead of using the add a fuse, you could just tap accessory in the ignition switch. just be sure to use an in line fuse.
so you did not use your rca cables at alll?
Does this bypass the factory amp in the Pioneer premium system

You a beast for this. Gonna be doing my bros system soon
How did your stock speakers hold up with the added power?
what was the lay out color from the cruze can't see that last at the bottom
Where did you ground your amplifier? I've looked all around in the trunk and cannot find a good place for it.
I explained in the video that you need to buy a line out converter if you dont have high input on your amp. Line out converter hooks up to speaker wires and you plug your rca jacks into it.

Hello good, where did you get the RCA input to connect it to the power cover?
if i were to send the u a link to the LOC that i purchased, would u be able to tell me where the wires would connect to?? im just a little confused what that remote turn on connection
I see the ground on there. Where did you wire that?

Why are the right side speaker wires also on the left side of the car?
Where would I ground my wire in the trunk ?
It's a "lot" connector? Is that what you said?
What empty fuse can I use if I'm doing it under the hood?
hey man, great vid, extremely useful for my weekend sub install, quick question, would i need that add a fuse if im going to be using a LOC?
Yes power to the amp will stay on but the amp will have no audio signal from the radio so you wont hear anything if you shut your radio off.
thanks you saved me a lot of research time.
is there any benefit to aftermarket to play ultra low freqencies
Question you said the left front speaker is dark blue and brown with dark blue but there are two of each
Tweeter
I did not cut the rear deck 6x9 holes. I was going to but the stock speakers sounded so good, so i didnt cut it, I use the 6x9 more for bass. If you want to use the 6x9 for your hi's, you will have to cut holes into rear deck
@kabooooom670 make the slit on the inside of the car? Or the outside going in?
How long did it take you?
Hey mate. That adder circuit you are talking about, where do you buy them? I can't seem to find any.
Can we hook all the 4 stock speakers to the amplifier with the stock radio.
Two of my speaker wires go to the outline converter box. Please tell me how can i hook 4 of them?
Ronil why would you need to hook all 4 speakers to a line-output converter? You really only need one speaker.
jonathan yodichkas hooking one speaker up gets rid of the songs that have multiple points where it will output sound on the left side the right such as "Dude looks like a lady". The beginning of the song starts out in left then right for a few seconds if you've ever listened to it
I have the 2011 cruze, is the head unit the same?
Where did you get the high level/speaker level input?
Is this the same for a 2015?

okay and how/where do the RCAs hooked up??
on the master switch panel where do you hook in your 6x9's?
Im not sure if the 2013 cruze has the same color speaker wire as the 2012 (It might) You prob want to look it up first. If its the same, the + dark blue wire will have the - brown with dark blue stripe right next to it.
where you got the remote from? and if you install a sub how would you separate the vocals from the bass? equaliser???
Adrian Carire The amo will have a Low Pass Filter and will separate it automatically. There is an option to do the opposite as well.
This guy is correct. ^^^ amp will have what amounts to a sub out as well as standard speaker outs, as long as its not an amp built strictly for the door speakers or strictly for a sub
What speakers are those
no not using 0 gauge. not using 1 ohms .possible 4 ohms. possible 10 gauge.as for power maybe 400 . so would that make it all dim would you say
I bought mine at pep boys, They sell at auto zone and most auto parts stores
Hey where do u by the added circuit .?
Drop down your back seat and lift your trunk mat and use the bolt and nut that holds your backseat to the chasse
I'am Your Newest Subscriber Great Videos
What is the model number for the amp your using?
Dude those are wire nut, made for solid core wires for houses and such!!!!
You're an idiot. 🤣🤣🤣
pleez help i have a s10 i have a sub in it and wen i turn the car off and then back on and the stereo wont play unless i unplug the rca and i got to do that every time and im broke and cant afford a line converter its pane in the a$ $ so pleez help
Great video ! Tons if info
