Hope this goes viral, Phil. Lots of people could use the good laugh you provided us with so discretely! Hmmm, less turning = more chuckles. Works for me! Definitely the correct outcome for this piece of wood.
WOW!!! that is just awesome and poetic... things were balanced out and the lady has her man! Phenomenal piece Phil... glad he did not end up with pink pants or hollow legs... another masterpiece in the books... thanks for this week's adventure
I have an almost identical piece of crotch maple and was stumped (no pun intended) with what to do with it. Thank you Phil, and also thanks go out to the person that gave you the idea.
Howdy Phil Wow ...the grain using the center of the branches turn out so nice .....glad you did not drill the legs .... colors look nice on my end I have many pieces that looks like that cut of wood ....maybe I will try a bowl like that ....like the live edge so much keep on tunin'
No doubt about it...its a man bowl. I've have a piece of oak just like this...its been in my shop for a couple of years now. Every now and then I look at it and think about how to turn it...its been a puzzle for me. But now, with inspiration from your video, a "man bowl" it will become. How fun! Thanks for the idea and your time in making this and all your videos.
Lovely wood is yew. My brother made a coffee table out of a longitudinal section of trunk. Wonderful heartwood grain, contrasted by the sapwood and irregular shape and bark. I was impressed, as I am with your piece!
Great job Phil! I will have to say this is the first time I have seen a Legged man bowl, I’m gonna watch the lady bowl I missed that one, Enjoyed the video that was something else 🤝
Dear Phil, So many thoughts, so much skill, so wonderful bowl. I love your way of creating extraordinary pieces. Things, that nobody has tried or even made before. In my eyes, you are one of the most creative woodturner on RUclips..... Amazing Work Admiring Greatings from Bavaria Steff
Love all your videos. New turner here and I am learning a lot especially that you can turn just about anything! I have access to a lot of "logs" from my yard and from local forests and friends so I especially love your live edge bowls.
The glued on block was inspiration. There was a lot of included bark between the "legs" that would have let this fly into two branches if not supported that way.
Another winner! I think you heard me tell you to drill out the center as you stopped turning, and commented that is silly I should just drill it out. Another outside of the box challenge and another win!
Hi Phil, This has to be the funniest video I have seen you post. So many innuendos and references that really made me laugh. Brilliant Phil even it wasn't as much turning as you normally show us all. Take care Phil and thanks for making me laugh on a Friday morning here in a miserably cloudy day in the UK. Cheers, Huw PS I turned a crotch piece this week as well. LOL. Huw
I thought when you started turning the Oak you were turning a plinth for Sir legs, glad you had fun on this project, bowl instead of two vase holders was the right decision.
Really neat, Phil. I got a good laugh out of "excuse me, buddy" and the nut bowl comment. As you wee turning the glue block, I could see the legs standing in a bowl (possibly water). Maybe another project? Keep laughing. Bill
Hello Phil, I hope things are going well for you. I saw that there was a major fire in the Bonnie Lake area yesterday with at least four structures burnt. Wishing you all the best. Ron
Wow! You couldn't have found a better natural wood shape for this 'man bowl'! It's pretty cool Phil!👍😁😎 Yep, I say you have to have it as your 'nut bowl'!🤣😂🤣
Quite the unusual one but interesting.”Topless man”. I like just watching you configure the different methods to turn it. I believe you really got into this one ☝️ maybe it was the pants.lol thanks for sharing & stay safe!
Phil ur dry sense of humour really makes me laugh 😅 this man bowl is really a talking piece 🥣 he turned out great & good choice to not hollow out both legs 👍
you don't have to do a lot of turning to have a successful creation .... from the comments, it's clear you achieved a lot. we aren't used to less is more ... you did great ... respaecfylly ... Chuck
You could have just drilled one strategically placed hole and called it finished Phil! But then again you would have to deal with the grandbabies asking, "Grampa, why are there flowers sticking out of his....?" Yeah, okay, on second thought I think YOU made the right decision! Kinda simple and kinda whimsical with a crack in just the right place, fun all the way. See you next week and until then be safe and stay healthy my friend!
I couldn't have wished for or expected better comments than this piece is getting, David, and yours is no exception. Thank you for your humorous words! 😊
Well Phil I have to say that I was concerned about the title and the top view of the wood that you might get a slap on the hand from youtube. This video was full of grins giggles and innuendo. Loved it. It sure put a good spin on my day. Oh and it turned out Very manly. Loved the excuse me part too . Now I gotta find the lady vase video to watch. Didn't realize how many of your videos a day I've been watching until I get your emails. Lol PS. I just thought your videos were very therapeutic and helped take my mind off pain but you really are hilarious 😆 LOL
This made me laugh! Came out great! I laughed as normally, you handle all the pieces you turn with care at the end of the video, but you refrained from rubbing. 😊. I have a dirty mind!
A nut bowl? Was that an intentional pun? I sure hope so. It cracked me up real good! Sorry to tell you this Phil but you will never be able to go to another Woodturning show without being mobbed for autographs. You let your face show there for about a nanosecond and that’s all people were waiting for! 👍👍😃😃😃 Great video, my friend. 👍👍👍👍
Oh, rest assured, it was intentional, Gord. Being of limited intelligence, my adolescence gets the best of me from time to time! I don't always think out the reaction of others before I open my big mouth. LOL! Fortunately, the audience is responding with humor in mind. I'm so grateful for that! We can all use a good laugh about now! I'm glad you enjoyed it, my friend! 😊 Phil

They are together forever! 😊

Defina very unique piece Phil. That will be a collectors item for sure!
Hahaha, I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Suzette! 😊
Heck, even being a wood turner I would buy that. What a conversation piece it would be. 😁😁
Very unusual holiday nut bowl. Needs a hole for a nut pick and two holes for the nutcracker handles
Thank you, Jim!
