    The "Warranty Void If Removed" stickers are actually illegal in North America. We have the "Right To Repair" anything we purchase. And yes, even if it's made in another country.
    Thanks for the disassembled review. Nice to know how, and how well things are built for future reference, or for future purchase.

    "To gain access Delta has nothing tricky about it" except for the plastic parts being glued together. Guys, exercise caution when separating them. Took me quite a while and a plastic prying tool to do that. NOOB has already mislead me once with "easy" cam replacement in T50, which screws were glued and I didn't know you were supposed to use a soldering iron to unglue, now this disassembly, where NOOB brushes over the most critical part of the disassembly. Well done. Keep up.

    I got mine a few weeks ago. As a player with Medium sized hands, i find the extension of my thumb to reach all of the HATS to be arduous. I'll have to 3D print a shroud for the button groupings to shrink the form factor of the "head" by about 25% to make it easier to fit my lady sized man hands -_- From your video, i noticed that the HATS aren't directly soldered onto the wafer, which would allow me to put the HATS closer together with a smaller "head" grouping. Thank you for tearing this beast down for us! EDIT: I'm psyched for the new flight model on SC! I use Voice Attack so i don't really need all of the HATS anyways, just nice to have a back up plan in Voice Attack starts acting wonky. Cheers!

      I believe remaking a joystick from scratch is crazy. Had you thought about just buying a WarBrd? It’s small

    • @mangofish69
      @mangofish69 5 лет назад

      @@NOOBIFIER1337 I have seen the WarBrd, however, the Delta has analog sticks and a mouse wheel, which will work well for looking around when flying and adjusting mining lazers or other tools that work well with incremental or analog input. Too bad the Delta doesn't have a slider, that would've been optimal. I've done 3D prints before and used it to modify my mouse.
      I originally was going to create an entire flightstick using t16000m internals, but the Delta offered similar features without the need to create an entire flightstick with a grouping of all of the buttons accessible with the thumb. Making a small adaptation to the Delta, as well as printing off a trigger that needs less movement for my forefinger to position itself, is a relatively easy task. Making "improvements" to meet an individuals preferences is what makes a 3D printer worth investing in ^_^

    Clear & concise review, thanks Noobifier! I really want to order one of these except the speedbumps for me are the crappy Cdn exchange rate which balloons the high initial cost and the availability of product.

    great vid, i agree with the points you make but would add the following additional ones:
    an issue you should look into is the cable connection to the base. i own this stick as well and had issues with the connection coming off under heavy use, i.e. when dogfighting for extended time in pirate swarm or vanduul swarm.
    my second issue with this stick is, that the hat layout sacrifices accessability for dual use ability. imo a stick with that many inputs needs to either be optimised for left or right handed use to make all the inputs actually usable when twisting and turning the stick or make the inputs movable to adjust to hand size.
    i have regular sized hands (although im quite tall) and struggle to use the top hats effectively. the stick also does not take into account that the rotational axis of my thumb (the joint) is to the left of the stick (when playing right handed), so the bottom left hat is easily accessbible while the right one is a huge stretch.
    imo you cannot make a dual handed stick with that many fixed inputs. either make them movable or make a specific layout for each side.

    So I just recieved one in the mail thinking it would work with my TM Warthog base. It does not, apparently, I should have done more research! Fortunately this comes right at a restock day for Virpil, so I picked up a CM2 grip and a WarBRD base (and a mounting plate for my monstertech mounts). We'll see how either goes. I'm not sure what I'll do with my Warthog HOTAS set up once all the Virpil stuff arrives (have a Mongoose throttle coming, too lol). I'm sure it'll be another month or two before all the parts arrive though, throttles aren't even supposed to ship until May (writing this as of Apr 2019)

    finally ordered mine a couple of days ago, it''s a pricey endeavor for sure, could not get the throttle yet - I have a TM 16000m setup and mainly play Elite in VR, it has served me extremely well especially with the Nyogel grease - smooth and excellent but I am rebuilding my "arcade sim rig" to fit in more things and allow more games to be played outside of VR like SC and wanted to get something I felt had more longevity since this build will be built around my TM 300 racing wheel and Hotas like my current one... I am hoping this Virpil stuff lives up to my expectations, if not I would be with the availability it's not a great risk as I can probably get 100% of my purchase price back if I decide to stick with my TM.. sure the TM is proobably more plasticy feeling but that did nail the ergonomics and all the other factors at a great price point - I just wish there was something other than the Warthog (no twist) between things like the 16000M and the Virpil VKB stuff - I don't count the X56 Rhino as after owning one I agree with 99% of the reviews out there that it has great features, good build quality, awesome looks but the ergonomics just stink, at least for me and many people out there, buttons not easy to reach generally being the biggest issue... so now my "virpil adventure" begins - I am really hoping they meet my expectations.

    Like this new series!
    Considering the first video on the MCG Pro I disagree with some of your score, especially considering the score of the first grip.
    Here what i disagreee on:
    - Casting 8.5: the internal quality are not as smooth as the MCG and there are a lots of sign of post-moluding work. No doubt it is solid, but a manual intervention is not a best for a production item (even if it has a small quantity run). My score will be a 7
    - Eletrtonics 7.5: considering that the MCG is way lot cleaner as assemble this seams a bit too hight score. I don't like the bunch of wire bended inside of the grip that it seeams a bit too packed (this will contribute to mitigate the "hollow effect" but...), it feels like it will be a mess to put back together should you tear it a part compleatly. Olso the HAT have soldering connection that doesn't seeams to appear in the MCG stick. My score 6.5: thinner and shorter whire should improve this aspect.
    - Egineering 8.0: I do not have doubt on quality of the stick but really there was no other way to cramp the stick with wire and use hot glue to fix the components and connect them?? Even a simple snap connection will be better. RGB is un-even and considering how small are now rgb led just putting another on the opposite side would have mitigate this issue. For a product that aim to be a "premium product" this seeam to be a final prototipe rather then a premium commercial product. Finally no metal insert for the nut is a huge drop down conpared to the MGC Pro.
    My score will be a 6 (good quality instead for the z-axis twist that appear to be a solid polished metal and deserve an 8)
    May be a bit harsh on vote, but I'm always on the lower end fo the scale: this will geive people more reason to improve and reach truly exceptional level....

    One thing they could have done to improve the design is give an adjustable palm rest, because my wife is tiny and has very small hands, so she cannot use the Delta Grip. I much prefer VirPil's approach of internal wiring instead of PCBs. In years to come when support may have ended everything will be user repairable. VKB build quality is higher (although with no real functional benefit) but if a switch eventually fails in the years to come repairing it will be a bugger.
    As for the hot glue, it's actually a very good thing to use. It's in addition to solder, not instead of solder and it just makes the connections even tougher by protecting the solder from flex and tension. I wouldn't mark them down for using hot glue like they have.

    • @Rickbearcat
      @Rickbearcat 5 лет назад

      To me, it seemed as if the hot glue was used to hold the PCB's in place on this joystick, whereas in the VKB, screws were used to secure the PCB's in place. I'd much rather have the screws than the glue.

    How would you rate the 16000M, for comparison?

    • @trikael
      @trikael 4 года назад

      I am using the 16000M for left side and a C. Delta with the WarBRD base for the right.
      I got the Delta because the twist axis (a potentiometer) of the 16000M is so poor for close quarters maneuvering in space sims. The Delta's analog axis control is excellent: all of the tilt and twist actions are better than the 16000M (and the tilt axes on the 16000M are pretty good.)
      I find the ergonomics on the 16000M, within the limits of four thumb buttons, to be better than the Delta: I wear large size gloves, and I can't reach the top hat switch on the Delta without moving my hand up the grip (several cm/~1.5 in.). The hat switches on the Delta seem good when "dry fired", but in-game mine are twitchy and often double-click if not handled with precision, which I often lose in full-on dogfighting. Two of the three Delta hats have not worked correctly from day one, and I will be sending the grip back to Lithuania for repair soon.
      Overall the Delta is a much better bit of kit. The problem with the hats is disappointing, but I like the Virpil gear enough that I ordered a second WarBRD base and a WarBRD grip to replace the 16000M. The final setup (after the warranty process, which will certainly be months rather than weeks) will be a WarBRD grip for the fighting hand (right side) and a Delta for the thrusters (left side). I'll use the hats for non-critical tasks that aren't needed during dogfights.
      Right now, Virpil's support system is swamped (long waits between back and forth communications), but hopefully they'll catch up soon, or better yet, hopefully you would never need to contact them because your gear would be fine out of the box.
