  • OVERVIEW
The treatment landscape for ulcerative colitis (UC) is rapidly evolving. Novel pharmacologic agents with different and unique mechanisms of action are significantly advancing the management of UC. In this unique and interactive “Test and Teach”-style symposium, attendees will answer a series of clinical, case-based questions posed by expert faculty on the management of UC, after which the faculty will discuss the answers and present supporting evidence. This format allows learners to see how their responses compare with those of their peers and receive expert feedback on their clinical decision-making in real time. Thus, participants will be educated on the latest data on new and emerging advanced UC therapies, as well as the latest guidance and expert opinion on UC management, which they can apply in their practices.
    TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for gastroenterologists, nurse practitioners (NPs), and physician assistants (PAs) who care for patients with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC).
    GOAL STATEMENT
The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to select advanced UC therapies that allow for optimization of patient outcomes as measured by objective histologic-endoscopic mucosal findings and patient-reported symptoms.
    LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
Review clinical data on histologic-endoscopic mucosal healing in UC with advanced systemic/biologic therapies
Identify validated scales and tools that evaluate histologic-endoscopic improvement and remission in patients with UC
Select an evidence-based UC option that addresses patient-reported symptoms and goals (bowel urgency, frequency, incontinence)
Formulate a treatment plan that incorporate shared decision-making with patients
    ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
In support of improving patient care, Medscape, LLC is jointly accredited with commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
    For Physicians
Medscape, LLC designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
