I’m getting this same built transmission! It’s being built by RPM now! It’s a lvl 7 w/ straight cut 1-4 and synco 5&6. I came back to watch this video again and i can’t wait!

7s, here we come!!! Some of my favorite videos and the ones going for faster passes, and I think the missing piece is now in place. The fastest big channel RUclipsr?!.....
Sweet, man - with a bit of practice, clutchless upshifts with a slight lift and double clutching downshifts will become as natural as a syncro' is now.
What you may find a bit of a problem with is breaking loose on the up-shifts as it is as savage on the tyres and transmission as dropping the clutch after each shift.
I would really like to see an "evolution of leroy" video with footage of every pass he's made on the drag strip, gradually getting faster in each clip

I have a faceplated transmission in my Cougar. I also had one in my LS6 powered RX7. Be mindful of the 3-4 shift. If you are not careful, and accidentally pull it into 2nd instead of 4th, it will go in, and then bad things will happen. Mostly to your engine. Ask me how I know :-/
Also, if you want to get it to go smoothly into 1st gear, put it in 5th gear first. That stops the mainshaft from rotating and it will go silently into 1st gear.
Jake Heke I know, because I have done it. And as a result, I mechanically over revved the engine and bent a few valves.
Its a common mistake and makes for some interesting noises when it happens.My cousin roasted about $7 grand when he did it and he's been racing stick shift cars for almost 20 years.
Jake you know you've done it because the motor will over rev instantly to like 10k+ rpm's and it'll practically throw you through the windshield because the drive wheels will pretty much lock up instantly,not to mention all the fucked up noises it'll make ;-)

Cleetus very rarely do I watch every video of someone on youtube. You are an infectious person for sure. Your enthusiasm matches mine for sure.
I generally avoid big youtubers,because most of them are clickbaiting tools like street-spunk717.But Cleetus has come a long way though and is the real deal.He doesnt front like he's god and knows it all etc.Instead he's just having fun learning to go fast along the way.Plus he seems like he wants to help people out for real,not just for views when he does charity stuff.I have no doubt that when idiots like 717 are gone he'll still be around one way or another.

Ok I just made a fool of myself. Sittingn in a cafe waiting on lunch I get the alert a new Cletus video is up. I click to check it out and put in my ear buds. I'm watching and think he finally got the faceplated gears he will be happy. That first hard shift I yelled HOLY SHIT!!.....Yeah I dont think I'm going to come back to the cafe. Especially when they brought my lunch in a to go container. I think they didnt like my exclaimation.

I remember first seeing Leroy when you first got him. I shed a tear watching this video. Excited to see what he’ll do in the track! Hell yeah brother!!!!
That would take some getting used to. Sounds like a missed shift because the RPMs climb so quick in the 1-2 shift. If you don't get in the 7's now...
if you watch his pb of 8.4, his shifting now will be approx 1 tenth quicker per shift....that'll get him close to a 8.1 sec and with the engine improvements a 7 sec pass is possible, but only if the axles can take it?? #difd ✌
That is what I thought. I'm not sure if he has the boost set higher for 2nd gear or if he wasn't at as high RPM when he shifted out of first, but second sounds like much higher RPM. The RPM should drop going into the next gear, so he can wind it out again. I would love to see the tach or a replay from his electronic cluster to see what is going on with the engine speed. It sounds insane.

face plated usually means synchros are removed and replaced by dog teeth but stock gears left in aka still helical

Zainzy it all depends on where you are, some states or even city's/towns will let you get away with almost anything but other states will give you the death penalty for having a car back exhaust , its the same here in Canada

Yep. I'm going to be doing the Amsoil cocktail he recommends here soon. I'm just wondering how well it can be built up. I think the main issue is the way the shifter is mounted.

I drove a C6Z with a faceplated T56 a few years ago. It's insane how they feel to drive. It also sucks to pull out of a parking lot if you've never driven anything like that before haha.

I just spoke to Shane at RPM this afternoon about a them taking my magnum and doing a lv 6 build for 900 wheel. Awesome guys, very reasonable for me to ship my t56 mag to them and they build it.
