That was beautiful work. Jodi Benson sure is a great actor with a voice of an angel. But she's already somewhere in fifty. I hate actors times going. I hope she still has her beautiful voice. Most of our favorite actors aren't staying young any longer. I hope she still has the voice of a mermaid.
She's 56, and still acting. Disney had to retire Paige O'Hara as Belle because they said she'd aged too much, but Jodi is still Ariel on shows like Sofia the First.
yes, I drew this all on my own. did the entire thing - storyboard, animation, editing. of course all rights on the character and song go to Disney. thanks for the compliments, they mean a lot to me.
I LOVE how you closed the scene with the still-frame of her infront of the moon (Or setting sun) like how it is on the movie poster for it, pretty epic i must say
This would have been such a touching scene to add to the Little Mermaid film. What I love most is the ending when she goes into that iconic pose. So beautiful. You are gifted.
Ah, "The Little Mermaid" and "Thumbelina," two films from my childhood. What you did here was take both of them and make them ONE. And the result is very, very, BEAUTIFUL! I really don't care if this will never be a finalized animation, this alone is cool! You really did a great job here!
Yes, it's just that Jodi Benson sings this song and she's also the voice actor for Ariel. That's why I used this song. Thank you for all your compliments.
Beautiful! Ariel was always my sister's favorite and Thumbelina was mine - it's perfect to see the two combined like that! I'll have to send it to her, too.
WOW. This is AWESOME. And I love how you made the last shot, I've always loved that pose and would have loved to see it fit in the original film somwhere. :D
I'm like speechless...that was awesome..it so fit with the little mermaid, conveniently enough that's jodi singing herself, gotta love jodi, great job on the animation!
I loved how you used the pose from one of the little mermaid logos at the end. It makes it look like this was a deleted scene or something. You did a wonderful job.
That was very good. Excellent in fact. And it's amazing that you did that all yourself. And very clever with the song. Not very many people know Jodi Benson voiced Thumbelina as well.
Its weird how this video is such a childhood classic for me. I just remember finding it and being amazed, and even now it holds up. Like seriously, if I hadn't known any better, I'd just assume it was a deleted scene
Wow! That was great! You could have told me it was a deleted scene/unfinish storyboard from the orginal movie and I would have believed you. Excellent work!
omg this is amazing..the ending reminds me of the promotional poster they showed years ago. I can just imagine this being a deleted scene that spakred the idea for the poster. you have a really good imagination to come up with this backstory, kudos dude lol :]
Oh! I'm so sorry for not understanding you. Well, I use a program called CTP and there I edit all the layers of the animation (the bg with the characters), then export the final images for each scene to jpg sequence and edit all the scenes in premiere. my other movies I also colored in photoshop. so basically I use photoshop, premiere and CTP for my movies.
before you animate you need to analyze the sound. you need to know which mouth position goes in which frame. you can use programs to analyze sound. I don't remember the name of the one I used, but I'm sure if you google it you can find some. only then you can start animate.
Amazing work 👍👍👍 Context-wise, this song worked perfectly with this scene from "The Little Mermaid" which takes place right after Ariel saves Prince Eric from drowning; heck it even serves the same purpose as Ariel's Part of Your World (Reprise) song perfectly in this scene!
Sung by Jodi Benson, who is the voice actor of Ariel, BUT song from the movie "Thumbelina", where Jodi Benson also did the voice and songs for Thumbelina.
I'm pretty sure Jodi Benson never would've been Thumbelina for Don Bluth if she hadn't been Ariel for Disney before, just as Gilbert Gottfried probably wouldn't have been the Aflac duck if he hadn't been Iago first.
I didn't work on it a lot, maybe once a week for 2-3 months, I can't tell exactly because I had other classes with homework that I did at the same time. still it was hard to make sure Ariel looks like herself in every frame.
incredible work! I think you 're really talented! and the choice of the caracter and the song was brilliant (it happens to be my favourite cartoon song and my favourite caracter- I simply adore her ;) ) congratsulations!
Thank you for all your compliments. I did watch the little mermaid so many times I stopped counting. but when I worked on the movie I did looked into some movie stills to really capture ariel the way she should be. that was also part of the idea of this movie - to make sure the character will look the way she should be.
hey, good job, a bit rough in the beginning with ariel's arm movements, but I LOVE her when she puts her arms behind her head to look at the sky, amazing.
What can I say that no one else here has said? You took a song that was considered “meh” in one movie and actually made it work in this little “deleted scene”. Excellent job 😍🤩👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It's not from any Disney movie coming out or something, it was a short animation I did for my animation class. It wasn't easy, especially keeping Ariel looking like herself. I think it took me about a semester, which is 3 months, but I did a lot of other stuff during that time as well, so I can't really tell how long it took me to do this.
Wow! i can't say what i can't say XD it's wonderful, Beautiful, and,... look, i can't say what i fell right now, you are Amazing, Gooooood Job ! Love it, Love it, love it :D
It's because I mostly learned from analyzing Disney movies and reading all those animation books. I'm not saying I didn't learn a thing at school, but the level was not as good as some colleges I know in the US for example. The bottom line is that my portfolio talks for me and I'm a hard worker, so it really doesn't matter now.
Somehow "Im Impressed" just doesnt seem to do you[r skills] any justice.. Wow.. Keep doin' what you do, please, because the world needs more true to heart animators. Good work, good luck.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! Oh this is soooo good! I'm going to MCAD art school this summer for a came, and I will learn to do this too, I can't wait! I probably will never be as good as you though! This is AWSOME!!!
Whoa, this is simply AMAZING! It could totally go for being a deleted scene, one that could be right before "Under The Sea" or instead of it (as it's my least fave), that's how good it is. You got Ariel's facial expressions and body language down perfectly, I am simply in awe. Favorited! :)
eee... I studied in THE devision of animation. they weren't classes I took as addition, or as a hobby, that was the main subject. we did animation for 4 years, and we studied more subjects (film related, such as directing, editing, design) in addition. we also had a low budget because this is Israel, but I studied animation.. hope that answers your question.
@ilovetangled2010 If I understand you correctly - if you are doing this the traditional way you should be using "lightbox" or "light table" (google it). So you draw a layout of the background on one paper and then using the light from the table you can see the layers of your animations above that background. If you are using a computer, then simply use layers and onion skin. For a storyboard you don't usually draw detailed BG, SB is more for acting, unless (see next post)
I'm sorry, but I didn't understand the question. Did you mean how I connect the background (rock and sea) and flounder and ariel together??? If that's what you meant, I drew each item or character on a different paper and then in the computer in my editing software I connect them all together using the software's functions (here I think it was the "multiply" function so it takes all the white of the page and make it transparent). Please read more online & in my article (link in movie info).
That was beautiful work.

+World OF Art Love Artwork Don't worry, she does.
She recently voiced Ariel again (in Sofia the first), and her voice is still beautiful and young :)
Kicksno1fan
That too.
:)
She's 56, and still acting. Disney had to retire Paige O'Hara as Belle because they said she'd aged too much, but Jodi is still Ariel on shows like Sofia the First.
she does and she still helps little children smile by visiting them at hospitals and things like that!!!! u can look it up lol
yes, I drew this all on my own. did the entire thing - storyboard, animation, editing. of course all rights on the character and song go to Disney. thanks for the compliments, they mean a lot to me.
How did you make this?
@@csavenger1 They already said. They said they did the entire thing. Storyboard, animation, editing.
@@caitlinsparkle7717 Could you do the same with Poor Unfortunate Souls and Ariel's Human Transformation?

This would have been such a touching scene to add to the Little Mermaid film. What I love most is the ending when she goes into that iconic pose. So beautiful. You are gifted.
The way you made this makes me feel like actually belongs in the movie! Awesome work. Too bad you couldn't finish it.
You made this?! This is amazing! I thought it was a deleted scene, then I remembered the song. It worked perfectly with this!

Beautiful work, you really captured the movement and emotion of the character, keep up the good work!
WOW. This is AWESOME. And I love how you made the last shot, I've always loved that pose and would have loved to see it fit in the original film somwhere. :D
This is so well done! Has Jodi seen this? She'd love it
This was a comment from 3 years ago lol. She finally saw this and reposted it from a repost on insta/Facebook story 😂
Justin Rutherford: omg I saw that! so glad she liked it! 😍
@@justinrutherford6322 Who did ? Jodi ?
You know her personally, do you?
It's awesome. You've got serious talent. It runs almost like a deleted scene! Love it.

This is too beautiful!!!! You melded everything together so perfectly. I wish this really was in the movie. You have real talent! :)
Out of all the the fan made up disney movie scenes I've seen before, this is actually one of the few that's pretty damn awesome!! Good stuff!
Ariel is my absolute fave. I'd LOVE to see this cleaned up and colored because it'd be amazing! You are my hero!!!!
This song definitely seems to be made for The Little Mermaid 🥰🖤

Absolutely wonderful. Great job, you really got the emotions rendered on her face, and that is HARD to do, I imagine.
All I can say is play repeat and tears 😭 this is so good
this is awesome
it gave me chills
Wow! That was great! You could have told me it was a deleted scene/unfinish storyboard from the orginal movie and I would have believed you. Excellent work!

Very much Disney-worthy. You should be very proud of your work. This is the result of someone very much in love with their work.
Great Job!

it's amaaaazing. it feels like it could be a scene in the disney film after coloring and so on... god, you're amazing :D
Absolutely stunning work. This song fits so well with The Little Mermaid
I love that you put Thumbelina and Ariel together. Both were voiced by Jodi Benson.
It's still great after over a decade later! :D

The "program" is called a paper and a pencil. Yes, I drew this movie the old fashioned way, scanned it and edited it in premiere.
