Lady Ice is based on the fairytale "The Snow Queen". This project started back in 2005 and was released in 2010, BEFORE Frozen was even a pitch. I thank everyone who liked my film as much :)
This was a personal project that started as my final project for the Animation program at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel and after graduating I kept working on it to finish it alone.
Working on and off (weekends, holidays, etc) it took me about 5 and a half years to complete. This was a combined project of Liron Peer (Me, and I'm a woman btw!) and another guy, who dropped the project at an early stage and therefore all you see here was mostly done by me alone (I did the entire animation in the film).
And no, I do NOT work for Disney or any other large company (I'm a freelancer). I've already tried to apply to Disney via many ways, but they simply didn't want me or didn't have a position to offer me, and life went on.

I love how the art style is similar to Pocahontas and Brother Bear ( I absolutely loved their art. They and your animation are beautiful! Absolutely stunning!!!) and I'm pretty sure Frozen was based off of this.
Frozen was based off the fairytale "The Snow Queen" by Andersen, and so was this animation. The source material is the same so no wonder there are similarities. :)

Fuck Disney, start your own Animation Company your talented enough to. 5 years is pretty good for a solo project but with a team of 5 animators you could create a short in a year. Get on crowd fund for your future project.

The movie frozen is just about an ice princess that goes rogue because she is salty. I did not relate that movie to this at all.
I interpreted lady ice as winter, as a season as a person. I'm assuming she fell in love with the man, and felt sorrow for killing his parents, and in because of that she became the biggest apology ever; a waterfall of tears. But that's just me XD
I ADORED this animation, and was immediately enthralled. I'll forever ship the dude and lady ice 💟
That's an interesting interpretation. I saw it as time for spring, so she melted and became lady spring instead

I'm not a real Frozen fanatic, but even an infant could see Elsa was not _"salty."_
She lived in fear from her childhood into early adulthood of her unusual abilities that no one knew how to control. She didn't want to hurt people and became a recluse to protect herself and the people in the outside world.
Not to mention this came out long before Frozen.
What the heck does “salty” even mean?!?
I watched this as a child 10 years ago and rewatching it now as an adult makes me appreciate it even more. When Frozen came out, I thought it was based on this animation all along. But this even better. It had such a long lasting effect on me that the images and the story remained in my memory even after such a long time. I had to dig through my history to find this again. 😅
The creature is mythical, one of a kind, the only one who can be next to lady ice and not freeze to death. it's mythical/magical like her.

Thank you for the compliments. This IS the whole movie, there are no words, yes, it's like Disney's Fantasia. So dubbing is not necessary. I did this so everyone around the world can understand the plot. For now it is only displayed on the internet and sold on DVD, free shipping worldwide. Thank you.
I think this looks AMAZING!! And omg that story is so sad! Lady I’ve loved this man but she can never touch him because that would kill him. So in the end she turns herself into a river in Spring and Summer so she can always be all around him. (That’s how I see it anyway.)
Absolutely beautiful! Disney can't hire you because they can't afford you, you are super talented and very motivated, you are fluent in 2 languages and working on a third! My god your amazing!! I'm learning animation myself and aspire to do what you've done, make my own cartoons, and would love to work with you in the future. I'm quite a ways behind you, but I share your passion. I work full time at a slave wage job and have kids to support, I know I will succeed in the future. I really saddens me to hear you, with such talent are have such trouble with a career. You should really look into doing a full length movie and finding other animators to help with your film, use kickstarter to get funding.... You definitely have what it takes and that scare Disney, they are just another corporation that wants to have people with talent they can harness.... but you ware too many hats.... I wish you the very best!!!
but, Disney is currently the richest company in the movie industry in the world. They have made billions of dollars with just the Marvel and Star Wars movies. They can definitely afford this animation, that doesn't really make much sense.

*Okay hands down this is one of the best short films I've ever seen. The animation is definitely on point and reminds me a little bit of the older Disney, like Pocahontas and Mulan. The female characters even remind me of the general look that Pocahontas herself had. Especially chin lines and expressions and whatnot. The young guy looks like the young prince from Mulan. I know I'm not exactly doing your fine work justice but that's how it appears to me. Very well done. I would love to see an extended version of this Someday. I could easily watch a version of this that was an hour and a half long. :)*

Just wanted to let you know, they have an animation internship, for the summers at Pixar, I would apply hit it's only for people in or graduated from college, you should apply, could get your foot in the door :3

I have been a Judge at multiple animating competitions and never in my career have I seen this kind of animation. This short truly moved my heart, you have a lot of talent. Use it to create more stuff like this, and soon your animating will be known on more than just RUclips.

This is an accomplishment! Reminds me of the time when independent animation was still hot in China! I think the creature could be an European lion/sabertooth cat which is still around in stone age.

Hey Liron :). I just wanted you to know that I saw the movie "Frozen" a couple of weeks ago and it made me think of you immediately and this video. Not so much the storyline- though in small ways- but I guess because a female character was able to control ice. However, I fell in love with your animation when I first saw it, and even though I was watching a film in theaters, I still liked your small clip even more :)

Was like "wonder what ever happened to this person..and if this was ever finished?"...Googled your name and, was brought here. NOW I GET TO WATCH THE FINISHED PIECE LIKE..FOREVER YEARS LATER!
So very well done. The emotional expressions were ultra realistic. The music allowed you to get the story across with no dialogue. You have great talent

This is Beatiful. I hope you get a huge team, studio and all that stuff so you can make bigger projects and make Disney look at you and say "Wow... We've lost a great opportunity there...". You are climbing the ladder, all the stuff you did, and then nordic warriors... I can see you getting there!
The video is great, I must say. Do you plan/wish, by any chance to make hour long version of this? It could be awesome to see what happened to the Ice Lady AFTER she turned herself into the water. Oh, I know. You could use Japanese legend about Yuki Onna (Snow Maiden). The story is pretty cool and you at least can read it. Please think about it.

+lpdisney your Ice Lady and Yuki are similar btw. They both kill people dear to the hero - Ice Lady killed his parents, Yuki killed teacher of the hero and ironically both Ice Lady and Yuki fall in love with the hero only for that love to be short lived or unrequited.

Hey, I don't how many years ago now when I first saw it. Maybe it was 2016-17? Anyway, it came back on my reccomended after so long. I relate to Lady Ice more than ever and I think it's inspired me a bit.

Yes, it's 2D hand drawn animation. Drawn on paper using a lightbox, scanned, colored and edited on PC. Old school :)

Nine years later and here I am. This is a masterpiece!
Oh my goodness! It was years ago that i favourited the work-in-progress of this, and I didn't even know it was completed until 10minutes ago!
I class this as one of my favourite animated films, the story is so deep and moving. At the finale, I had to hold back tears, I found it very emotional, and the animation is superb, completely absorbing and beautiful.
Because this was a study project, inever expected to see it completed. Thank you for finishing it, it's made my day

Lady Ice has masculine features and you know what? I'm perfectly okay with that. Winter is harsh, it's unyielding and unkind. It is not soft or gentle or even attractive. I love that she is unconventionally beautiful. And yes, she finds kindness, but she also melts, so anyway, this is lovely, thank you.

She didn’t kill his parents intentionally. The father was killed by a beast, because he threatened the Lady. The mother was just frozen to death. Lady left wounded unconscious beast behind (probably assuming that it’s dead) and went away. I think the boy helped the beast to recover and so they became friends. Years have passed. The Lady discovers that her beast is not dead and starts to stalk. During this she falls in love with young man. One day she decides to show up and touches him, which causes the man to remember the loss of his parents. He becomes sad and angry and attacks the Lady with fire. The beast comes to protect the Lady and young man steps back and accidentally falls off the cliff. The Lady saves him, but gives him a frostbite on his hand. She then realizes that she can’t touch her beloved one without hurting him. As a result of her pain and regret she sheds a handful of tears, stops being ice and becomes a waterfall.
It seems as a beautiful legend about change of seasons; about origins of waterfalls and mountain springs; and also teaches forgiveness.
