    Hey bro. I appreciate your minimalism focused channel helping us to make better financial decisions as well as better tech purchases. Also the video production is immaculate for a small channel. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you so much!! It is basically an Amaran 100d with a softbox and a small aputure mc as a backlight.
      I am currently working on a dedicated video about how to set up a good looking talking head shot..expect it to come out within the next 2 weeks or so :)

    Getting a canon sl2 might be something to consider, not a 4K camera but amazing autofocus in 1080 p is still great for RUclips

      Never heard of a canon sl2? Does it have a different name as well?

    I think that if you’re going to travel you might want to consider the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 as well

    • @simonbernlieger
      @simonbernlieger  3 месяца назад +2

      Yes!! For travelling / vlogs that one is amazing!
      In this video I was more talking about talking head scenarios though

    I'd love to get a more in depth video on this topic. Actually multiple! One with different options for lighting, mic and so on. And then also one about composition, editing etc.
    Great video, as always :)

    I would love to see a video on how to make a talking head scene look crisp with a phone. I have a business where I primarily shoot all my photos with a 13 pro max in raw for my website and socials. But I wanna start shooting small RUclips commercials talking to the camera and I don’t know if my 13PM will cut it anymore or if I just need better lighting and staging

      I am currently working on a dedicated video about how to set up a good looking talking head shot..expect it to come out within the next 2 weeks or so :)
      Regarding your question with the 13 PM: This is a capable phone. The camera usually is the least important part in the puzzle..lighting, audio, staging is everything.

    What microphone would you recommend for using with the iphone option? Love to see a comparison and different price points

    • @simonbernlieger
      @simonbernlieger  3 месяца назад +2

      I will do such a video within the next 2-3 weeks.
      As for microphone any cheap lavelier mic is better than the onboard one.
      something like a rode lavelier go would do (50$)
      or one of thr many wireless lav options like the DJI Mic I personally use.
      Or a normal shotgun microphone for a more traditional approach - like the deity video mic pro I used in this video.

    +the workflow on a Phone camera is SOOO much better!
    I have a decent camera but I shoot all my YT videos with a Phone, not even an expensive Iphone but a Poverty £100 Pixel 6a lol.
    Don't really care that the ''real'' camera looks 10-20% better if in the same Time I can produce 2x more videos with a phone :D

    • @boyantrifonov
      @boyantrifonov 3 месяца назад +1

      You always need a mic.
      That is non negotiable.
      You can buy a 50 dollar lavalier mic with a cable if you don’t want to get the wireless options.
      But with a cable you have to be very careful not to drag and drop your 1000$+ phone to the ground

    • @simonbernlieger
      @simonbernlieger  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes you absolutely need a mic!

    1. Would the iphone 13 pro be enough and a better value for price for youtube videos? 2. What about the data consumption on the iphone 15 pro model? what gigabyte capacity would you suggest?

    • @simonbernlieger
      @simonbernlieger  3 месяца назад

      Data consumption in pro res is a bit wild..I would get a 1tb external ssd and record directly to the ssd. That is cheaper than getting an iphone with more storage.
      If you want to record directly to the phone I would go with 256gb at least.
      As for the iphone 13 Pro: Quite frankly I would still suggest the 15 Pro as a. the 13 doesnt have a usb c plug and therefore you cannot record to an ssd and b. you also lose LOG recording.
      But if you find a cheap 13 Pro (Max) wirh a lot of storage and you dont need log why not.
