    Did you see the interview from Odgaard and Arteta. They said they didnt intend to sit that deep. Also odegaard said they were exhausted having to defend that much that it made the transition sittuation for them more challenging. There is a reason why possession based football generally works better because it tires the oposition out

    Why are we lending any credence to people who can't accept that 8 of 12 points against Liverpool and City is a great result? We got roasted for not putting in goals during the first half of the season playing like City did yesterday, where is that same energy for City? Why can the best striker on the planet not score against us? We should have gotten far more praise from pundits and fans; what have they done against us that is meaningful this season?

    • @kasimshaikh3750

      I think you guys are failing to understand the criticism.
      This game said Arsenal just wanted to hang in there. They didn't go out & tell we are coming for the title that's what people are saying that's the criticism.
      When you are going for trophies you can't be saying oh it's City at Ethihad how do expect us to win.

    • @DrHankVenture
      @DrHankVenture 6 месяцев назад +12

      @@kasimshaikh3750 you kind of failed to see the point, we haven't shipped points to the two clubs pundits and fans have both said we can't keep up with, and all the commentary is about us being to defensive, rather than on City and Pool doing literally nothing against us both home and away. We did our job and never capitulated, why are we the only team being criticized? Would it have been better to ship 4 away from home again rather than showing a mature performance? Why is the onus on Arsenal to play into City and Liverpool's hands? None of it makes sense.

    • @kasimshaikh3750

      @@DrHankVenture Well the onus is Arsenal to go & win because there's a thing called the premier league table.
      There is no difference whether you finish second or third.
      Arsenal are not the only team getting criticised.
      Last season Everton got criticized when they parked the bus & beat Arsenal 1-0.
      United got criticized when they parked the bus and got a point at Anfield this season. Stop the victim mentality.

    • @DrHankVenture
      @DrHankVenture 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@kasimshaikh3750 never said we were above criticism, but that criticism should be equal, and it isn't. City did not get the same treatment for not scoring. Liverpool were were not given the same treatment and the loss to us was essentially written off because they had injuries (as we also did). The crux of my point was that Arsenal are continuing to be shown in a negative light despite the incredible season we're having, and to drown that out because it's not equivalent to the treatment other clubs get.
      Don't compare us to United though, very different situations entirely.

    Oh what a lovely Monday it has been. Arteta is much closer in mentality to Mourinho than Pep when it comes to building a watertight defence. We had supreme players executing a supreme shut-down. George Graham's sides couldn't have done it better. Gabriel was immense. I've watched O'Leary, Adams. Bould, Keown, and Campbell and Gabriel's performance was up there with those guys at their best.

    So totally and utterly over the whining. We have a superior goal difference, we are 2nd in the EPL (by only 2 points), we are in the quarter finals of the ECL and we are looking at a squad that will only get better and, potentially, for the next 8-10 years.
    Anybody complaining at this point is just deluded and cannot remember what it was like to be crap. It wasn't that long ago that our centre backs were Mustafi and Sokratis or that it wasn't that long ago that we were losing games against "Top 6" teams, conceding 5, 6, 7 or even 8 goals in the process.
    Get over it people. This is a massive step in a direction that looked completely beyond us not so long ago. Enjoy the ride instead of just claiming all of the glory when we finally break the duck. It may be sooner than you think!

    What this game showed is that Arteta has absolutely learned in game management now. He counteracted everything Guardiola threw at him. Do not underestimate this. Nerves are real. City nervous CL final last season. Coping with nerves is different from bottling.

    The reality is that on the day we were a team playing with limitations. Those limitations led to us being very pragmatic and focused more on defense and not attack.
    That's called intelligence on behalf of our manager and looking at the implications of us losing vs. drawing.
    If we lose the Premiership by 3 points, then we can cry and pout, but in reality, it's situational, and we did what we needed to do. ❤😂

    Was the game boring, it's a bit like people who watch UFC and think it's boring when they go to ground and do Brazilian ju-jitsu, unless you understand the technique and transitions involved in the ground game it looks boring. But if you know what they are doing it's like a intense chess game of moves and counter moves. A knockout in UFC is like a goal in that game, it will win you the match. Going to ground and counting each other moves is a tactical match that to the people who understand it is entertaining, but people who watch UFC only to see a knockout punch are missing the point. A technical football match with 0-0 is to some as entertaining as a UFC match without a knockout ! We did have the chance to win the game and on a different day we would of scored and everybody would of said it was absolutely a genius battle plan !

    I dont get why people are blasting Arsenal for the low block. It wasn't intentional. City players spaced themselves in their zonal press perfectly. We tried to play out the, we tried to be direct, but it just wasn't working for us. We had 2 opportunities, the Jesus miss and the Trossard miss, if we capitalize on one of those two, it is likely a very different game...But Jesus was half a second too late, and Trossard didn't square the ball to Martinelli because of an uncharacteristically bad first touch. I think the bigger mistake Trosasrd make was not try and find Havertz who had made a really good run into the box behind Akanji.
    The rest of these 9 games for all 3 of these teams is going to depend on how the law of averages plays out. I dont know how Liverpool aren't conceding more goals...their xGA is 35, for 27 goals conceded. And ours is 20, for 24 goals conceded. Liverpool are getting lucky to some extent, will that luck run out? Or will the power of friendship propel them to a title? Man City are pretty much right where they should be when it comes to their xG and xGA (good teams overperform their xG). Liverpool have an xG of 65 and have scored 67 goals. We have a xG of 57 and have scored 70 goals, and City have an xG of 57 with 63 goals. So I guess our bad luck with xGA is made up for with a big overperformance of our xG. Liverpool will drop points. We just have to capitalize on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 3rd.

    Martinelli’s absence cancelled out Walker’s absence. I was looking for that. I have no idea how we scored the most in EPL while having an average attacking outlet. The quality is there but in terms of quantity, we just don’t have it. Just shows Arteta’s achievements more. If Wolves and Chelsea are in financial trouble, then Neto and Mudryk should be in question.

    • @coolerdude42

      We largely got a strong goal tally because we have several players whose profiles are to break low blocks and operate in tight spaces.
      But it seems that Martinelli is our only speed profile that effectively breaks on transition on the wings. Saka and Trossard can't do that and this is at least the 2nd game where that profile of player would have been clinical for us on mid/high block strong teams.
      I hear Nelson also has pace? Not sure if he would've made a difference offensively
