I love how Arteta ended his press conference by saying to all the reporters that not one of them asked him a tactical question and all they did was try to get him to talk about certain moments in the game that went against us and his thought on that which completely ruined the beautiful game. Also, a great performance from the team and so proud of the boys for putting in a crazy defensive shift in the second half. Feels like a win stolen in the end, but we take the draw, and we move. Love for the love to you guys. COYG!!

A week ago the narrative was “grandad Partey” or “he’s lost his legs” yesterday against Manchester City Thomas Partey was absolutely outstanding!
Energy levels, when to press and when to drop, calm amongst the chaotic moments and covering for his team mates yards. Lads I was absolutely thrilled with Partey yesterday as you can probably tell. Easy motm for me but I will also give honorary mentions to EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! IMMENSE!!!

James, if you listened to the audio, throughout the second half, Jorginho was the one shouting instructions to the players because the half was played on the edge of our box. So, to your point, he was the extension of Arteta's mouth throughout the second half. Talking about unsung heroes.

I agree with James with Trossard; when you look at the incident, Trossard was already in the process of kicking the ball when the whistle went, he actually holds back which changes the kick but as a referee he had a choice to call Trossard over with the captains and say to him “ look it’s seconds from half time, calm down.. Jordans point of view is always of someone that hasn't really played at any sort of level. Not his fault just your view of football is formed from just watching. If you've never really been in that situation at any level of football grassroots or pro its hard to understand that fight of playing with 10 men against a better team, its undervalued from the media.

trossard kicks the ball the way he did because we were in the 52nd min of the game and stoppage time was 6mins... so should have ended at 51mins.. trossard was booting the ball to END THE HALF.... he kicked it 0.84 seconds after the referees whistle. there's a shot of trossard kicking the ball whilst oliver still has the whistle in his mouth...... how is that delaying a restart especially when bernardo silva was down? You can't expect players to react immediately all the time... there needs to be common sense applied to the law where the word "delaying" is down to interpretation...

He said that Jorginho was screaming for Raya to go down and fake an injury when we were under pressure, but because he was far Raya didn’t listen, so he told Lewis-Skelly to go behind the goal to tell raya that. Here's an interesting angle to look a trossard's booking that I haven't heard people consider, it was already seconds past the stoppage time that was added, from that point onwards the ref should have applied a lil bit of context knowing that any whistle heard outside the opposition area could easily be interpreted as signaling the end of the half. It's possible that trossard thought the whistle was for half time and as we would normally see some players do, booted the ball away.
This imo shows how poor and incompetent the referees have now become and it's sad that a beautiful game of football was ruined in just a split second.

Great pod, brilliant discussion. Turkish has made a major point.
The game is being ruined, we need the Rugby union model. VAR officials need to watch the game alongside the ref, and make decisions with all the officials. Not just the person in the middle.

I see Calafiori being a better fit in the Xhaka role. He would explode in that position and provide better cover to tge left side of the field. Arteta should try him there with Timber & Martenneli in support.

Mikel said it- we better see 50-100 games follow this letter of the law bs and there better be 20-30 players sent off. Keep following the law and ruin the spirit of game, crazy the whole point of having laws is to preserve the spirit and make sure no one team gets an unfair advantage over the other. Great show!!

We should be incredibly proud of the result. The wider football community knows that we were robbed by a disgraceful decision, and knows that City are NEVER going to be respected as a team. Too many question marks around their conduct and the bias of the officiating. COYG! Let’s be proud.

31 years ago almost to the day, 21st September 2003, the battle of old trafford. tense game, arsenal player sent off, we draw, our backs to the wall in the aftermath, we galvanise, and you know the rest. did we just have a battle at the etihad moment i wonder.

We have bernardo silva crying like a lil b*tch to every journalist that crosses his path shows that we are doing something right. They wanted us to open our legs like how liverpool did with 10 men and lost 5-0. They were crapping themselves at every corner.

For me, Trossard’s 1st yellow was never a yellow…. You’d have no players left if you dish cards out for that. The foul just prior to Trossard kicking the ball away was a Yellow all day long.

Jordan really is annoying . A ref is meant to manage the game and use common sense. Not ruin it because they decide to apply the letter of the law on this occasion, but not others .

    • @eaglevision09

Right, If the ref is only there to enforce the rules of the game then they might as well just use Ai or a robot that can do a better job.

I still find it questionable that Michael Oliver was officiating this game or any game involving Man City given the fact of his association with the Middle East in Saudi Arabia etc. it should be that he never referees any City game or any Arab owned side in the epl! I’m not saying there is any impropriety involving money, however it must be questioned how he is allowed to continue in the epl given his obvious links to the Middle East !!
