I have always used a push mower but I just got a used Toro LX 425 and am working on maintainance and learning this machine. Mine works but goes slow even when the speed adjustment is increased. Can you tell me which of the two belts impact the speed?
both of them do. the one from the motor spins the cvt pulley and the small one goes from that to the input of trans. if either one is worn then they slip and mower will move slow. best to replace both at same time (in my video i didnt replace both because the small one was not very old and in perfect shape).
Do you need to empty the oil and gasoline from the mower before attempting to replace the drive belt? Just wondering if it will have an affect on anything in a negative way. Thanks for the help if anyone can answer.
just make sure gas tank is half full or less, oil will be fine. as long as you just tilt the mower over like i did. i do this all the time and never have any problems and all motors always fire right up and run perfect.
@@RMSadventures-ie4fr I actually have a XL427 and there looks like only one drive belt but plastic fan is the way I need to take off to see what is under it. I am Female but may go it for anyway. I need to Mower Shop regardless my other mover is even older John Deere and the tires are all going and a few other issues. I mow a couple acres of my acreage. The only reason I noticed the belt is going because I was putting new battery in mower. Just like everything else new equipment is not made as well as the old stuff and when I start looking at it I don't want to buy.
@@jeanahart4865 i agree with the new stuff not made like the old ones, new ones use 1 year and worn out. old ones use 20 years and might need adjusting LOL.
Thankyou have lx 426 2008 the drive belt finally broke will do exactly as you instructed last week was a head gasket what next
awesome

@@RMSadventures-ie4fr thank you. I figured as much. I’m pretty darn handy but might give in and bring it to a local mower servicing place

thanks
I was watching this to see if I want to try to change mine.....maybe not.
go for it, it's not really hard to do and you'll save yourself a ton of $ by not paying a shop to do it. they charge $100 an hour just for labor.
