  • In this video I am repairing my ASUS VG248qe 24” Gaming Monitor. I had blown the speakers a while back and I purchased replacement speakers part number (AW-A1S140A) from eBay. You can usually find replacement speakers on eBay or other such sites.
    The procedure should be similar to other monitors from ASUS, depending on if there are hidden screws or not securing the frame to the panel, this monitor had no hidden screws into the panel. Also be aware that you do this at your own risk, you are responsible for anything that goes wrong, and you may void your manufacturer’s warranty. Please ensure that you check with the Asus warranty before you open the monitor

    Plastic Spudgers (3+)
    Towel or Blanket
    Box or Books or Platform 10 cm high (to place entire monitor on)
    Tape (just in case)
    Box or Magnetic Storage Container

    Thanks so much for making this video. Just last night the speakers on one of my VG248qe's went out. Having never taken a monitor apart you explained everything perfectly and really made it look easy.

    Cool repair. Actually here because i wanted to replace speakers the ones inside my VG27aq because they sound like crap.
    Same with laptops and monitors, i guess they are bound to sound like crap since there is not much space even for a cheapo decent Aimiya 3 watts speaker

    Having a couple of these I'm inclined to take my speakers out and sell them.
    Cheers for the vid, broke a screen on one of mine (Paddy's night - little surprise considering my avatar lol) and trying to garner any & all info with a view toward DIY fix feasibility.
    I also have mine mounted & rest assured they are very secure in that regard.

    Thanks for the video! I would like to ask if my old ASUS VE247H LCD has built-in 1W x 2 speakers, can I change to 3W x 2 or 5 W x 2 ? using 8 ohms or 4 ohms? Thx!

      The best you could do was find some schematics for your monitor or the board that runs your monitor in the back. Next thing to check would be to get a tester and see what kind of power the speakers are receiving. I'm not much of an electrical engineer but I'm assuming that it would be dependant on the amplifier circuit that is hooked up to the speakers, which a schematic would help with.

    Hey, how do the internal speakers get a signal? Do you need a wire to connect to the monitor just for the speakers or do they work via the display port? Thankyou.

    • @wdm123
      @wdm123  2 года назад

      It comes through either the displayport or HDMI cable. If using windows click the speaker icon and then click the up arrow to change the output.

      It depends, just go to the ASUS website and look up your monitor, sometimes you can just return it to the store you bought it at.

      Try eBay. Short of that try carefully cleaning the board yourself.

      @@wdm123 I tried eBay but I couldn't find it, but when I google it did appear on eBay which was weird :\ it's 9$ board which was cheaper than I thought. the name for the board was (menu function board)... I did buy in case that I clean it and didn't work I'll put the new one ....... Thanks anyway cause i'll follow your way to open my monitor.

    • @wdm123

      Make sure to remove any dried residue from the board. When water and possibly tea dries it will leave minerals or other conductive things on the board. Kind of like if you don't wash you tea cup it will leave a brown residue. Sometimes the minerals in the water are also conductive and can cause shorts causing the board to not work.

    • @wdm123
      @wdm123  3 года назад +1

      Hey sorry for taking long to reply. Look at the sticker that should be somewhere on the screen. Likely the LCD is made by a third party company like LG or Sharp or Samsung. Search eBay with the model number, or search eBay with the model number of your monitor. Third party LCDs may not produce as good an image. You might also be able to buy a 'broken' monitor where the LCD still works. Though it might be cheaper to get a new display, but not sure how much the LCDs cost these days.

      @@wdm123 thank you so much for your response, to buy the display replacment part its cost near the new monitor, so its not worth it.

    • @wdm123
      @wdm123  3 года назад +1

      @@ab123-j7v Well you can always sell the working parts from the broken monitor on eBay. Just make sure you know the ones you are selling work. Otherwise you can sell the monitor as 'for parts only', but you might get less money than selling the individual parts.

      También puede probar los talleres de reparación locales. O una tienda de excedentes de hardware. Trae el viejo contigo. Puede encontrar altavoces que sean físicamente del mismo tamaño, pero que no tengan el conector correcto. En ese caso, tendría que conectar el conector viejo de sus altavoces antiguos a los que encontró. Es probable que también tengas que soldar cables. O simplemente ser paciente con eBay.

    I took mine apart and couldn't believe the aluminum power + main board box is held to the lcd by TAPE! Then, the whole thing clam shells together by that thin plastic enclosure. Asus must be hard up on screws.
