The Barra is legendary, and I'm not even australian. The Ford Windsor would be great too, also Saab and Volvo have awesome engines. The BMW ITB V10 they made is also amazing
not a drift car. It was the "cheapest way to exceed 200mph" when it was in the used car market at normal prices in the late 2000s early 2010s ($35k could get you a fully stock or moderately built 600hp one) before the "fanboys & sensationalism" era (circa 2013+) where identity and nostalgia alone hype things rather than facts. The supra was a way for "normal people" to hit lamborghini speeds for less than 50 grand while not being a corvette or a porsche. The car did 181mph STOCK in Car and Driver's test back in 1993 in the texas mile. it's stock gear ratios allow it to hit over 200mph without changing anything. so all you need is more power, which is way too easy in a car that goes from 290whp to 450whp WITHOUT changing anything physical - just an adjustment to the ECU. Actual hardware changes can safely and reliably net you 700whp/650ft. lbs without opening the engine.
Thank God my Neighbor kept his 1998 mk4 Toyota Supra and I'm so lucky he kept it and I get to see every time I'm walking to school and my dad and my neighbor are good friends so lucky me I get to see it every time
Yah Cherish it most people wont ever know how it feels to sit in one or even be a passenger. Everytime I pull up to a gas station in mine I always get ppl asking questions and when I offer them a chance to sit in it. People tell me I made one of there dreams come true. Its pretty awesome actually seeing the big smiles when I drive off.
Highly disagree. It's a slow, weighty GT car with little to no performance-oriented handling characteristics. The only reason someone should buy a supra is if they're willing to de-spec and modify.
Fuck youuuuuuuu. I’m out here trying to get my first car and I’ll be LUCKY if I get a 2003 Corolla like I want and you’re out here getting a Supra. Bye. (But congrats tho that’s awesome)
Scoobert Doobert I was in high school my first car was a little v6 1994 mustang. I joined the Air Force fresh out of high school and got sent to Okinawa. There I bought a Subaru wagon and now I own the Supra. I’m 19. I’m not saying join the military but Jesus it helped lol
Had an 89 toyota supra turbo gt in high school it was kind of a rust bucket, red and brown colored, ended up selling it cause i was a highschooler with no money, couldn't fix it. But boy did I whip that thing, figured out how to drive manual, do controlled slides, learned how to drift,, learned how to do burnouts and donuts in that car. I miss it!!!
These videos and this style is incredible. They’re so well thought out, designed and executed. Would love to see a similar styled series for engines. Keep it up
The 2JZ (or a JZ in generally), like you said, is made out of cast-iron. But that's where the problem is: it's freaking bulletproof, but it also has a high center of gravity, as well as being too heavy. That would explain why Nissan later ditches the RB26DETT in favor of the VQ in the GT500 R34.
Khoa Huynh not only too heavy. That thing overheats badly. Those two points show that JZ isn't a performance racing engine. It's a show and street engine. Street-for small pulls from stoplights and show for numbers of HP, flames, sound etc. Nissan's RB was more superior to the racing, as we all know, that's why the GTR Skyline itself is balanced. Main Attesa part in the back. RB in the front. The Dominiation on Nürburgring within the 500HP Nur V-SPEC II and clean executions of the Calsonic Godzilla just show why JZ isn't that great
1st of all , the JZ engine doesn't overheat, yes it runs hotter since it is a forced induction engine. 2nd , it isn't very very heavy, yes heavier than a 4 banger engine, but nearly the same as the RB26DETT. 3rd, the Supra had to compete in the GTTC vs the Skylines Godzila as you mentioned..with bigger weight as a penalty for having a 3.0 liter engine vs the under 2.6 regulations. 4th, the 2JZ never was indented to be a race spec engine like an RB26 since Nissan was into GTTC racing championship 5th,the JZ was an evolution of the M toyota engine that was 1st found in the legendary 2000GT from the late 60's. 6th , the JZ engine it just happened...to be till today the BEST 6 cylinder engine ever! And one of the best automotive engines ever. I am not talking about performance upgrades in stock form or built form cause there it is miles ahead vs anything in the world as far as mass production vehicles! Also the E. Kanoo Supra with the 5.9 sec record on the quarter mile still run the oem factory cast iron bare block!!! Yes, the oem bare block not an upgraded race bread billet unit as the R35 GTRs run to just break the 7 second barrier... 2JZ NO SHIT !
@Oggy Well said... But if you had to pick one 6 cylinder engine as far as performance upgrading potential , easy to mod , and reliability the same time which one would you pick? I would think only the 2JZ-GTE and RB26DETT. And I would finally pick the 2JZ since it happened for me to mess with a Supra on the 1st place and of course the parts availability worldwide, and the knowledge behind the capabilities of this engine. I wish the RB26 had that kind of an outcome and chance as the JZ but unfortunately it never had since the GTR Skyline and the Stegea were never exported out of Japan (except New Zealand and Australia)
Yeah i'm trying to find a supra racecars(none drag) with 2jz but it isn't seems good for long endurance racing it seems like. Maybe that's why Toyota went over to BMW to borrow their performance engine? Lots people say BMW is unreliable but, I can't ignore they're achievements in long endurance racing.
Killer vid man, love supras. +1 for engines vids. The 2JZ's really similar to the Ford Barra motors apart from them being 4 litre motors and the XR6 Turbo Falcons being a single turbo instead of twins. Love both the 2J and Barra. Cheers from Oz.
Really well done video!! Definitely subbing and waiting to see your sub count skyrocket, and yes I'd love to see a video done on the 2JZ and one on the RX-7's 13b engine as well!!
Great video (and happy to see another enthusiast in Colorado). My question though, whose Golf R is that @5:55 keeping up with that Supra!? I guess I'll start saving up for my R's Stage 10,000 tune. haha
Mustang/Golf next please, the Foxbody is the go-to all-rounder Mustang, while the Mk1/Mk2 Golf is real memory lane dream. (But if it is to be Japanese, then please Honda Civic Si/Type R)

this video has an strange yet lovely warm aura to it , with the music , the voice in the perfect place , and the amazing imagery
I really like your style when it comes to talking about cars, bringing it to engines can definitely be refreshing.
The 7M engine series is so underrated. Yes, they had issues, but they are fantastic fun and they sound absolutely amazing.
Good old supra love it
Mr.Orange overrated Toyota
Man its hard to imagine wanting to change the tail lights to something aftermarket. They are so dope as is.
There’s a reason they don’t make aftermarket headlights or tail lights for the car😂
thanks for the shout out!!!
You make sick beats. Keep up the good work!
Nsx - what makes it so great???
Captain Origami it isn’t
Gennady Golovkin You what? have you ever driven one?

These videos and this style is incredible. They’re so well thought out, designed and executed. Would love to see a similar styled series for engines. Keep it up
I've never been so hyped for a RUclips video.. legendary car 😍 I can't wait to own an a80 one day
For me the 80s-90s were the best years. Such a beautiful pieces of "engineering art" Just look at it! 25 years old but still looks awesome!
Dear sir
you just won a new subscriber
you may thank the Supra
5:05 almost made me shed a manly tear 😥😥😥

I'd like to see a video like this about engines. I need to expand my knowledge about engines so I can show off to my friends.

The animated cartoon like and simple graphics are so killer

Your intros are so good in addition to the great quality of your videos
Yes definitely have videos highlighting individual Motors.
Another fact the JZA80 supra held the record for 9 years of the best 100-0km/h stopping distance until the Carrera GT came out for a production car.
We are the 23 april at 00h50 in France and I am watching this super video !
ohhhhhhhhhhh boy best cars channel ever!

You should do in depth videos about engines! For example the 2JZ, RB27, V6 Buso, K20, etc.
Your music choice is impeccable
What makes the (insert engine here) so great, AS a series? HELL FUCKING YEAH!
8:03 YES! Videos on the mod motors, ls, sr20 etc would be great!
I am so happy you have been posting more. Thanks, love the videos
Love the aesthetic in these videos.
The way this guy edited this video is so amazing 🤤🤤
I’d love to see a video on the engines in these cars
I rarely comment on videos but had to on this one!! Great video with great history on my favorite car!! Nice 70s and 80s spin on editing
Instant like for using home for your music
Yes you should do videos for specific engines

Killer vid man, love supras. +1 for engines vids. The 2JZ's really similar to the Ford Barra motors apart from them being 4 litre motors and the XR6 Turbo Falcons being a single turbo instead of twins. Love both the 2J and Barra. Cheers from Oz.
