Love this entire overview Lani! Many folks just getting started I think can be skewed by some of the nuanced Amex takes, but you laid out everything you need to know before diving into the world of Amex, good stuff!
Nice video - thanks Lani. I do enjoy their ecosystem, and Amex is a great company! A nice value of their cards is Amex offers, which beats their competition (not even close).
Chase is….cheaper 😂😂😂. Amex is great for those whose lifestyle their cards fit. I have no hate for Amex. I’ve had my biggest hotel redemption so far with Hilton, thanks to American Express. Excellent video Lani, and as always, the editing is on point 👌🏾.
When I put that in, I KNEW it would be CJ that said it! haha. Yeah, Amex is not my go-to ecosystem but that does not mean they don't have a strong one. Thanks for stopping by, CJ!
This was an excellent video! The breakdown was perfect and just so well done! It was truly a deep dive! Thank you for the shout out ! I really do appreciate it! It means a lot to me! ❤
Lani!!! An excellent overview of my favorite ecosystem!! Nicely done sir. Thank you for showing how beneficial the Amex ecosystem can be for those that want to play in Amex's sandbox.
That's a nice addition to the setup. Good luck. And thanks for stopping by! Subscribe is you haven't done so already, and stay in touch! Appreciate it!
One of my favorite ecosystems! 👑 No other ecosystem compares to the amount of benefits and costumer service that AMEX provides IMO. Great overview of the AMEX ecosystem mi hermano!🫵
Awesome video Lani, love me some MR points & while the recent family language is kind of annoying to work around (I can't get a Green card bonus anymore), I can see what Amex is going for with easing customers into their ecosystem.
Amex is the strongest ecosystem but it has so many inconsistencies and annoying things. Think about it this way - the coupon book has two purposes. 1. Drive spend over time (e.g. the $X per month/quarter credits) 2. Create a schema by where people feel like they're getting value for giving Amex an interest free loan for a year, while they spend over time to get their own money back. Would it not be better just to entice people to spend more frequently via the existing category spend? For example, what if they raised the annual fee on the Platinum to $999, but they added 5x on groceries and dining (like a strictly better Gold card) with a. category cap to make sure costs didn't run away on them. Imagine a world with a Green > Gold > Platinum progression of 3x > 4x > 5x (with caps) and escalating annual fees and perks. Give people a reason to spend organically through multipliers, not these cheap coupon book tricks. That's why I don't have a Gold. Well, that and when you get to a family of 4, food is much cheaper at Costco and we all know what happened there...
I like where your head is at here. You're def right, nothing is 100% perfect (especially in CC game). Amex could do better to make a more inclusive all-round ecosystem, but how they've built their products and partners is strong. Minus the Costco availability lol
Wow that’s actually crazy smart. I actually love the idea since the AFs would follow properly. But the problem is they want you to over spend, they want you to pay more AFs, can’t do that just holding one card.
I have the Platinum, Gold, and Bilt for rent, and when Amex isn't taken. Now that bilt made rent day changes I'm just going to use it for rent and 5 charges. I use an apple card as my catch-all card but would like to use a card, preferably an AmEx if it exists, that has points any suggestions. Thanks.
I’ve spent 10 nights in Waldorfs this year and been sitting in suites I didn’t pay for both times. Also had over $1100 in F&B credits. That doesn’t count the credits and point kickbacks on the cards. Only AmEx does that.
I totally agree with that! I fly United more than any other airline. If they add United it would change my travel game. Appreciate you stopping by. Subscribe and stay in touch!
That's a hard one because it depends on where you're going and where you'll be staying while outside the US. You could always get a Hilton card if you plan to stay at Hiltons while away
@@CallMeLani I have Amex Cash preferred(use it for food, gas and streaming) and Hilton honors(use it for restaurants) and used it for 6 months straight and they offered me that. 😎😎
Chase is better at earning points, amex is better at status/upgrades. that's the bottom line. I have both trifectas, amex requires more work but has better status. chase is easy to use and racks up points like crazy, and is cheaper. so as always, your mileage will vary.
I agree with you. I have both as well and also lean on Chase more than Amex. But again, that's my setup. Thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't done so already. I'll have a similar video on Chase's ecosystem coming soon.
Nothing wrong with it! They're strong. Which is why I wanted to make this video. Give them the respect they deserve lol. Thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe and stay in touch! More is on the way. Appreciate it!

Appreciate it, Marc. Thank you! 💪🏾💪🏾 Feel free to share and spread the word 😂 I'll continue to bring my best!

No thanks needed, Jon! Amex may not be my go-to ecosystem but they def deserve credit for what they've built. That was my point behind this video
And very well done I have to say.
Lani Great break down
Especially that Voltron part about the robot
lol .
Appreciate it!
The best part is any card that earns MR pts, gives you access to transfer partners.
Very true! Great point, Sledge!
It’s the much longer term reverse Bilt being a travel subscription service that just happens to have credit cards. Great Video Lani!
Thanks, Matt!
Great video man! I love that you show respect to Amex even if it's not your main ecosystem
I appreciate that! It's about respect in my book.

Great video! Definitely a ton of value in MR pts but those AFs + couponing is tiresome. Thanks for the info + video!
You're not wrong, Jimmy. Credits and AFs are just part of the game now
My man back at it again! I lean mostly away from Amex, but I deff see the appeal. Thanks for this!
Thanks Fern!

Had to give them their credit. Gotta respect the game!
Great video Lani. Agree Amex has a strong ecosystem so as long you can manage the credits and maximize the value of their benefits effectively.
100%. One could easily survive just on Amex ecosystem (if they feel so bold)
Great info for anyone contemplating the Amex ecosystem/cards 👍🏼
Thanks, Xavier!
Awesome video as always Lani ! Love my AMEX MR points
They are good! One could solely live on MR points if they wanted to
Nice overview and breakdown of Amex.
Appreciate it, JP
Easily my favorite ecosystem. The cards can be great if you're getting value from the variety of credits and all.
Totally agree!
Awesome video Lani, love me some MR points & while the recent family language is kind of annoying to work around (I can't get a Green card bonus anymore), I can see what Amex is going for with easing customers into their ecosystem.
Very true. Even thought its annoying, I see why they did it
Amex is really good, if you know how to use it : ) - great vid!
absolutely! Thanks, John!
I enjoy Apple and Amex. I do wonder how much those rings overlap.....
A lot, I'm sure. Thanks RJ
1. Chase 2. Amex.
Amex would be #1 if they didn’t go the route of these circus credits.

Amex has a Blue Card with Membership Rewards. It's 1pt for everything I believe but there is no AF

Amex needs more domestic airline travel partners, like United Airlines, and also a points boost feature in their portal.

I think Amex does have a lot to offer but the annual fees are the highest of all the ecosystems.
