The trifecta you don’t discuss is the Plat Gold and Green. Use plat for flights, gold for food, and green if you don’t want to use the Amex portal for hotels like Airbnb. And the green is a great travel buddy that covers traveling related expenses that the Plat doesn’t cover. This trifecta maximizes points but you and no one talks about.
I have the $150 a year Amex Green, no fee Hilton Honors, Blue Cash Preferred, Blue Business Cash and Blue Business Plus. At very most I would upgrade since I don't qualify for the sign on bonus is go back to the Gold card. I don't find value in Platinum since I don't live near any Centurion Lounges or have a local airport that's small with no lounges. Platinum would be a waste of $695 for me a year.
Great video! ATM im using Plat, Gold, Blue Business Plus. At 2c per point, I get 10% ROS on flights, 8% ROS on food and groceries and 4% back on everything else. Only bad thing is because blue has foreign transaction fee of 2.7%, it’s only 1.3% abroad, so I have to use my flat rate 2% Apple Card or Amex Gold for 1x (still 2%)
The blue cash every day card is much better as a sub. 3% cash back for gas groceries and ANY ONLINE PURCHASES any app any online store . You don't need the cash preferred the gold card does pretty much everything the preferd does
Decided to get into amex and got targeted offers from bankrate cardmatch for 100k on amex gold and 175k on amex platinum. High income, high credit score, and extremely low debt though.
Now with the Gold costing $325 a year to hold, I would get more use of the Blue Cash Everyday or the Blue Cash Preferred since its just me and I don't spend past $6k a year at groceries stores. Being a single male, no kids and not married is other reasons. I might downgrade my BCP to the Blue Cash Everyday after a year. When I upgraded, I got an offer for $1k spend for $75 dollars, so in theory, its costing me $20 to hold the card for a year or a nickel a day. The first $20 in rewards dollars would cover the remainder of the $20 hole and the rest is profit that would be used towards the next year if I downgrade like I said before and save the $95 a year to the BCE and take a 3% cut in groceries and have a cap of $6k on groceries and a $6k cap on U.S. Online Retail Purchases.
You can also do the blue business plus, the green card and the blue cash preferred. I have even though they overlap in groceries with gold, the blue business plus, the gold and the blue cash preferred. If you want to save, you can also do green, blue business plus or the blue cash everyday if you don't spend a lot on supermarkets.
Daily Drop might have to do an updated video since the EveryDay Preferred, EveryDay and the Cash Magnet have all been taken off the site and possibly discontinued.
DANG. I just added my AMEX fee’s up and I’m at $1690 at year. YIKES. Platinum + my wife as an AU. Gold. Delta Reserve Business and Blue Business Plus - I still feel it’s worth it - I’m getting a ton of value - but if I were to downgrade - I do think that the Delta card may be the first to get the downgrade.
With my white American Express, I have no gimmicks and no fees. Only interest for money outstanding for 55 days. I had a platinum card , i only paid about US$50 a year.
Existing customers aren’t eligible for the sign up bonus on a new card. I have a Blue card and now a Gold, no points given when signing up for the Gold 😢
It seems like you might be in pop up jail friend. You need to put more spend on your cards or just wait a bit longer before applying for cards after getting your sub.
I currently have the blue business plus, AMEX gold, and the blue cash preferred and blue business cash. At the earliest I would downgrade the cash preferred to the blue cash every day. Or if my spending is much lower than $6000, I can maybe do the green card, blue business plus, blue cash every day and Everyday preferred. I would also downgrade from gold back to green. The only problem is I would only travel maybe once a year and would have to put a lot of restaurants spend since I don’t live in a major city and I cannot justify the lounge buddy or a clear credits on green. My local international airport is very small and doesn’t have any lounges at all.
I have yet to dip into the AMEX cards simply because I don’t fly that often. Amex annual fees seem to be best offset with flights. Correct me if I’m wrong as I’d love to know how AMEX can be beneficial to those who don’t fly. I am considering getting the AMEX green card for 3x on travel tho. Thanks for sharing this info! Love the informant info while also keeping it entertaining!!😊
This video may be about 4 years too late. Amex is due for another price increase on the Platinum and the craziness with Delta that happened this week. MR is still valuable, but it almost feels irresponsible to recommend this trifecta at the crucial junction in the points and miles game.
LOL - can't be done outside the USA as in the rest of the world Amex cards are tiered, as in you move from one to another, you can't have multiple levels at once.

Preach buddy preach
Its still cheaper than the Amex Black card even if your lucky to spend enough to qualify and receive an invite.
The plat, gold, green, business blue plus combo works well if you live in NYC.

Looking forward to a Chase trifecta. Love your videos!

I feel like it would make more sense to switch out the gold card with blue preferred . you could make up on the dining by getting the greed card.

So with all the limitation with lounge access, is Amex Platinum lounge access still a perk?
I agree. Another point, is I fly United exclusively and the Amex lounges are never in the same area as United flights.

I had the gold signed up for the platinum and got 150k points

I did when I already had a blue and other branded Amex cards
Spending $1000+ a year to get "free" travel experiences doesn’t sound worth it to me.
I'd look at the credits and see if they're in categories you spend money on anyway.

No they won't.
😂😂😂 ... No@@diotitus
@@1stoptech Amex is the worst credit card company on the planet now.
Would love an in depth platinum card video
Great suggestion! We will add it to our content idea list 👍

USA FTW
Great Video... Thanks
Thanks for watching 🤗
It’s not “free” if you have to spend the required amount to get the points
Thanks Mel santos philippines client
This is bonkers for most people, myself included.
I find the background techno music distracting - your video is already fast moving and has lots of screen transitions, the busy music is a bit much
It may help to slow down the video. You can do so in the video settings.
He is trying brian jung style
@mintico Interesting, haven't seen his videos so didn't realize!
