      Yes @Zline did recall this stove that I currently have. Very disappointed. They " fixed" the recall issue beginning of the year only to have the same issue ( carbon monoxide emissions) a couple of months later and still no stove or oven because my local electric and gas Co. Capped everything off and told us it was dangerous. Since then Zline has sent not one , two but now waiting on the there third opinion (local stove technician) to apparently get a third opinion. Very disappointed and upset. I'd rather junk it than take a chance on my family getting I'll or worse case scenario.

    Zline used to be on top of their game but in the last few years, the started to cheap out on the product and doesnt feel heavy duty. I think their components have suffered as well. I am deciding what stove to buy and i'm glad I stumbled on your review.

    Thanks for taking the time to review your ZLINE range and hood. My wife and I purchased the 30” gas top/gas oven model about a month ago and our experience has been similar to yours with a few additional annoyances. When the oven is turned on, a fan comes on and blows hot air from the oven, out the front. Not good. There doesn’t seem to be a way turn that fan off and the actual fan switch doesn’t seem to do anything whether it’s pushed in or out. Also when the oven is turned on, the bottom panel in the oven will warp up and down a bit and sometimes makes a banging noise. As far as the oven pre-heat goes (the blue light), it’s been hit or miss for us. At the lower temps, up to 325º, the oven doesn’t really hold a steady temperature. At the higher temps, it’s better. My opinion: for the price, ZLINE should be a much better product. It looks nice, but falls short of providing a good cooking experience. For anyone that cooks a lot (and is very serious about their cooking!) I think you would be better off getting a Wolf, Viking or Five Star. We will be reaching out to ZLINE with the above mentioned issues and I will be sure to let you know what happens.

    • @Jive_Engineering
      @Jive_Engineering  3 года назад +1

      That must be what makes our noise! Indeed you are correct. In our case, the oven does seem to hold consistent temperature. You can hear the oven come on as well in this video.

    • @Whitney88Ev
      @Whitney88Ev 3 года назад +2

      I have the exact same issues and I have the same model as you 🥲 the banging of the bottom tray, the 50-75 degree baking variant, and also my oven racks roll out every single time I open the door, even though the unit is level.

    • @mgambuzz3
      @mgambuzz3 3 года назад +3

      I have a Viking D3, and the fan noise ramps up as soon as the oven turns on, and stays on after it is off until the interior reaches a "safe" temperature. It is an annoyance, but like a cuckoo clock, eventually you don't notice it. Just to let you know the ZLine isn't the only one. Thanks for the honest long term review - usually a lot of reviews when new, but none when it comes to 6mos, 1 yr, etc.

    • @lessandelman7802
      @lessandelman7802 3 года назад +4

      @@mgambuzz3 The fan noise doesn't bother me. The problem for me is having hot air blow in my face as I'm checking something in the oven. There's enough hot air coming out of the oven as is when I open the oven door that is compounded by the oven ventilation blowing out the front. That seems like a design flaw to me. Why isn't the oven ventilation blowing out the back end?

    Noise from a range hood is mostly from the air movement. If you used flexible ducting on your range hood, it will be significantly louder than if you use galvanized rigid ducting. The flexible ducting will also move a lot less air.

    The noises you hear are from expansion. Also, when the fan spins remember they are vertical, as the metal expanse there becomes space on the pivoting shafts and will cause the fans to slide forward or backwards. That might be the slight bang you here but the whining is the deferential of the spinning fans. Keep in mind this company is very new to the business and are still learning a lot. The plastic feet for the weight defanantly needs to be rplaced. If they are trying to save money I would recommend using wood. Its much stronger than hollow plastic. I do not know if using a white lithium spray grease would be smelled or get into the cooking but thats what I use on fans as a mechanical engineer. That will lower those noises but I do not know if the heat will burn it off after time. You did a awesome job on the install. Those little draws on the side did you build them to fit your space? Hey, your wife should be proud. LOL loved the video. You will probably want to kick me, i bought one with a slight dent for 500. Someone ordered it and was upset about the dent so returned it to the store. They had it on clearance for 790. I buy so much from this lowes that all the managers know me so they knocked off 290 for me. As soon as I loaded it 5 customers seen it and wanted to buy it off of me for 1000 dollars. Like monkey see monkey wants. When it was on display they didn't see spending 790 but once I had it they wanted to give me a 1000. Wow!

    I have this same unit. I've had it for just over a year. I love the stove, but the oven is a little disappointing. It takes for freaking ever to preheat, and it definitely cooks unevenly. My food comes out with blotchy brown spots on one side, and not on the other. Also the racks don't sit level, so my cakes come out a bit slanted on one side. My oven never makes those noises you mentioned, but the vent hood is obnoxiously loud. Overall the stove gets an A+ but the oven gets a C-.

    • @Jive_Engineering

      I just did a video where you can see some of the hotspots on the oven. The right side of the oven seems to be lacking some heat, but not by much. However, I know in baking that this makes a huge difference.

    Yikes! Agreed, those legs are inexcusable. @zline needs to make this right -- PLASTIC is drastic. I'm so sick of companies cheaping out / making inferior products. Who would have guessed that an old Wedgewood still beats out 'new' products. It's like we went backwards. Also, what's with the knob only at 50 degree increments? So many things call for 375. Not even little indicator lines in between? My husband wants a bigger stove and was heavily leaning towards ZLine but between the always on fan, cheap legs, pre-heat light and knob lameness, and only 1 year warranty (means they don't really stand behind their product IMHO), I'm going to look around more or convince him to keep our Fisher Paykel with our 5 year warranty.

  • @allans7281
    @allans7281 2 года назад +1

    Not sure of your gripe with the light and preheating. Once it reaches temperature it turns off the heating so it’s normal for it to drop in temperature and kick on again. Bottom line -when the lights on you know you’re good to go

    • @Jive_Engineering
      @Jive_Engineering  2 года назад

      This is incorrect. The light must be OFF. That lets you know that the oven is preheated. The problem is you don't get any audible feedback to let you know it is up to temp. If you go away while it is on, and it turns off while you are away, you can come back and find that it turned back on just to reach the temperature again.

    Have my 30" Zline gas range electrice oven. Love the range, however, my oven cooks unevenly, I'm sure a slight adjustment needs to be made. I've tried to contact Zline several times and finally got through, spoke to a customer rep who sent me a trouble shooting list, which consisted of three things that could have been done while on the phone! I sent back all the information and haven't received any feed back from the company... its going on 5 days! I love the look and I'm sure it could be a wonderful system if I could get it to work properly. Also there isn't a operational manual anywhere to be found. The youtube videos are somewhat helpful, but this needs to be recalabrated and Home Depot where it was purchased sent me to the company, so yes I'm frustrated. What's happened to customer service????

      its the nature of convection, the fan only circulates hot air in one direction, you need to turn your trays halfway through baking. I worked in french bakeries ( owned a few too) for 50 years, we always used convection, its the best. Its a problem selling pro equipment design to the public, " all the gear and no idea."
      I'm not connected to zline but you can check my baking videos, I know this stove is very good.

    Don't mean to rain on your parade, but my very first impression was the lack of space on either side of the burners. If it's an issue, I am sure you will find ways to work around it, but still. Also plugging in electrical tools or small appliances, that is having cables close to open flames or hot surfaces could be risky.

    • @Jive_Engineering
      @Jive_Engineering  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your concern. The space for us is very adequate and we have not had an issue at all after using this range every single day. I totally understand your concern for the appliances; however, we tested how much heat concentrates in that area and how much heat the small appliances could absorb, and we found it to be negligible. We did this using a thermal imaging camera with a stock pot cooking for a couple of hours.

      Hello Humberto,
      Thank you for your comment. The only thing important to know about the installation of our dual fuel ranges is they run on a 220V/240V system, and have a 4-prong plug. You should make sure your home is set up to work with this setup, otherwise, any changes made to the power cord for our appliances will void the warranty.

    Hi - good review. I just received mine and it's quite confusing. Whats the knob for to the left of the one to turn on the actual range?

    • @Jive_Engineering
      @Jive_Engineering  2 года назад +1

      Do you mean the one for the oven? That is a timer that you can set and it will automatically turn it off at the allotted time. If you prefer, you can leave it on by turning it on the ON position. It will stay on until you use that same knob to turn it off. In other models, the timer is removed and it is used as a setting knob.

    • @ZLINEKitchen
      @ZLINEKitchen 2 года назад

      Hello Nicole,
      JIVE did a great job of explaining the use for the left knob on our gas ranges. The left knob can be used as a safety feature as well as a timer to let you know when your food is finished cooking!

    • @twinkle04evr
      @twinkle04evr 3 года назад

      I think you should get at least 600 CFM for any gas range, the rule of thumb is total BTUs divided by 100

    • @richardshort4587
      @richardshort4587 3 года назад +3

      @@twinkle04evr What a lot of people are ignorant about is there is a rule that any fan over 400CFM needs a make up air system especially in colder climates where opening a window isn’t an option. The incoming air also needs to be tempered by passing over a heating element. These large range hoods can cause negative pressure in the home and reverse furnaces, woodstoves and hot water heater exhaust flues turning them into intakes bringing noxious fumes back into the home. People need to do their due diligence on these matters. Sales people don’t give a crap about it and will sell you anything you want and to hell with the consequences. Sizing a fan is calculated in two ways.
      1) Calculate the sqft of the kitchen and double it for the bare minimum cfm removal the fan can suck out.
      2) The total BTU’s of the top burners and the oven if all where running at the same time. A 108,000btu range requires minimum 600CFM. A 200,000btu range needs 1200CFM fan, that is some serious air changes per minute that will suck the windows and walls in if the air is not replaced and the home balanced.
