    Okay so, something I want to point out;
The old Minotaur UA had them be really cool n' all, and made them care about Strength in some field such as physical, mental, or spiritual (reflecting a choice of what +1 to put into a stat which were STR, INT, and WIS) and they were also sailors that primarily lived on an island and could navigate both land and seas extremely well. You won't go wrong hiring a Mino as a first mate or navigator if you're a captain of a trading ship. So you were big, you were strong in some way, and you knew how to get around in many senses of the word.
I had fun playing an Enchantment wizard Minotaur who was obsessed with making a recipe book of anything and everything that was edible, including people. Also he casted Friends differently from other Wizards, in which he yeets his gnome barbarian friend that always foamed at the mouth when raging.

While they still are war like, they take on the maritime experience of the ancient greeks, and they have an affinity for quite literal poetic justic, usually in the form of torturous execution and punishment, which I based off of the punishments of greek mythology (like with Tantalus, where the punishments are a play on the crime).

She was once a normal sheep living her best life when something came to attack her shepherd and flock. She ran and ran and some how found herself in a labyrinth. She found her way out and became a "Minotaur' with no memory of what happened, all that was in front of her was a harp and a battleaxe. Finding her way to a tavern having a wrestling match with El Macho, a dwarf who couldn't show the world his face. The match went sour and her protective nature took over and kicked ass. He asked if she could be his manger, but thinking that was her name, she accepted.
Sadly I didn't get to finish her story (had to drop out), but I like to think she found peace while managing her best friend.

my first campaign character was minotaur grave domain cleric who adopted the worship of Kelemvor after a cleric who was part of a group of warriors cleared out a cult of baphomet and saved him from dying.
They're fun to play especially if the DM drops the occasional odd reaction from normal folks. Bonus as a cleric, the horns for an attack means you can keep one of your hands clear for spellcasting without having to remove your shield, and it gives you a chance per attack to shove aggressive opponents off cliffs, downstairs, through doors, or into the arms of a fellow adventurer whose readied an action to grapple it into submission.

They don't see magic as weak, not many minotaur choose magic but they respect the magic user as a self disciplined person.

They shrunk the bull boy because afaik no other player race is bigger than medium. Having a playable race be huge size would create lots of problems with lots of mechanics (believe me, I tried running a game with a homebrew minotaur race, lot's of headaches).
Still a shame though, would be fun to make something like that functional

    • @unukbigwall2279

I have some thing that maybe can help you :D
First, things be more expensive, the double of expensive, but, also in some case be more effective (let me explain it) and other weakness a big creature face:
Weapons and armour would cost the double, to fit well in the hands and body of a creature of this size, armours will offer the normal amout of AC but weapons deal the double of damage like all the weapons do when they are for creatures of diferent size, the monstet minotaur have a greataxe that deal 2d12 of damage, and also make they natural weapons deal the double number of dices (they are big sized creature now)
Eat four times, you are a creature that tack (or cover) four times the space a medium creature do, and in this, make them have problems to pass trough diferent things and places, even crossing a normal door
Be more easy to hit with certain things, like distance attacks, you are a big targget, a one to big, make them fell weaker to this kind of attacks
But also, make them fell, more durable, i think the main reason there is not large creatures, is beceaus, in one way or another, they should have a bigger hit poitns pool.
Make them have certain problems like, breaking some floors by just standing on them, make them have acrobatic cheks much more harder (is funny think a large minotaur doing parkour but, they are just to heavy and big to land on dificult things)
Hard to hide on certain places, where a normal sized creature can hide, a mintour would have problems hidding.
And limit the things of resourse they can get, make them have more dificult times fiding some one with the time or resoruces to make armors for a creature this big
Weapons, yeah, make them also harder to find for them, but not that much, they just more easy than armors.
And mostly make them relai on the first steps on the simple weapons, since they are more cheaper from base and there is a lot of simple weapons can fit to the Minotaur style, like clubs, great clubs, hand axes, staffs, spears, things like that

I'd like to bring the Krynn version of the minotaur race to the table... they were Roman's. Had an island nation, the gods came back and they started to expand. Honorbound gladiatorial combat to settle disputes of state and there's a really well done trilogy series that is essentially just Gladiator but I'm pretty sure it was written before Gladiator. Also they are in fact big and giant and makes ogres look like bitches; but they don't have hooves, just man feet and they all run around in sandals and leather kilts and mostly shirt-less.

@Jeffrey Desjardins arguably they have the cooler god as well seeing as the opposite good-aligned god Kiri-jolith had the body of an actual bull but a man's head and their god was just another angry minotaur boi.(I say this as a historically good-aligned player.)

When I was world building I decided to make a twist on the minotaur race as the humans were driving their race into extinction due to the minotaurs being bloodthirsty and angry all the time. Then one of them finds a way to unite his people and change their ways. They become a unified civilization and now they have their own city of beefy bull people working together to not only survive but thrive in a civilized world gaining the trust of the various racing that they live near.

I ran a minotaur who was a normal human child who would run head long into fights... any fights... ALL the fights. Like for realsies. If someone so much as looked at this kid in a way the kid didn't understand, he'd start a fight. Young person, old person, live person, dead person... if you where a person... who lived or traveled through his hometown, you most likely have been or know someone who has been assaulted by this kid. Everyone when I introduced this character thought it was funny... and maybe it would have been if the story stopped there... but it didn't. He became a Minotaur when his own mother used her dying breath to curse him... you see, his mom was a Sorcerer, who cavorted with what can best be described as "a whole lot of no"... and she HATED this kid with every fiber of her being... and some part of him was afraid of her... this fact was pointed out to him by one of the few old men whom he'd take pauses in between bashing his brains in with to let speak... this deeply frustrated the kid so he went home and picked a fight. This fight was just meant to be an affirmation of his hutzpah... but he took it a step too far when she began insulting him. What was meant to be mostly non-life threatening attacks quickly became a murder lust... and his mother fought him with magic and guile... but this kid was damn near unkillable... so as she lay there, broken, and dying from her injuries she cursed him... what was exactly said was left up to the GM but the rage took him so completely in her last moments that the curse burned itself into his flesh... Now all he is is wrath, ruin, and carnage...
And you might think... "Well that sounds like a great Bad guy but how did you play him as a PC?" Well the underlying rage was there, but he basically wasn't able to be left unsupervised... but he could be used as a means of intimidation, and a great means of initiating combat... he wasn't incapable of thought either... but he wasn't strategically minded... basically his thought process was "if this thing angers me... then it must be addressed." He started fights with outlaws hurting innocent people and started fights with innocent people who where rude... but he wasn't necessarily full murderhobo.
CON, STR, WIS where his primary stats with INT being his lowest.
