I went on a 30-Day Plant Based Diet. Is it really the Best? What did I Learn? | Joanna Soh
What is a Plant-Based Diet? Is it vegetarian? Vegan? Can you eat meat? Well, the truth is that, the definitely of a plant-based diet defers depending on who you ask. Generally, it is a lifestyle choice that emphasises on eating more real, whole foods that comes from plants. To me, plant-based does not mean completely eliminating lean sources of protein! Watch this video to learn how I did it and how you can make the transition too!

I went on a 30-Day Plant Based Diet. Is it the Best? What did I Learn? | Joanna Soh - Хобби
I eliminated dairy and my acne went away 🤗🥰🤗😍
Opposite for me. The more milk i drink and the more yoghurt i eat the better and healthier/younger my skin looks.
Same, asthma and allergies went too
I dont eat dairy at all but i have acne
I went whole food plant based 2 years ago and lost 70lbs . I eat lots of veggies, fruit , beans and legumes, potatoes yum 😋 and small amounts of nuts and seeds . Just like you described no processed foods at all. Defo you do not crave cause you eat unlimited of the the whole foods. I feel half my age. And have ridden myself of some chronic pains . Best thing ever
you could have done the same by eating meat and giving up processed foods and desserts
first name Sorry. I dont consume flesh anymore.
I've been vegetarian for many years and most of those years I was overweight . When I switched to plant based, not only did I lose weight, I felt better and my face pimples went away and I was able to still eat enough quantities to satisfy my hunger. Thank you for pointing out that it's about inclusivity rather exclusivity!
@solo ist Technically yes but veganism also excludes dairy and eggs which aren't 'plant based' foods.
@solo ist kind of. Like Joh said, when you're on a plant based diet you're focused on eating whole foods with a lot of nutrients. Being vegetarian jsut means you dont eat meat. Doesnt focus on a specific balance of food. For example, I eat plant based diet but I also will eat eggs and fish every now and then. It's no about exclusion, it's about making whole foods the primary intake for food.
@solo ist not really...i think they drink animal milk and eat cheese; where as she ate only plant-based and decided to still use fish(for omega-3) & because it was her choice👍
Vegans dont eat dairy and eggs
Hi gorgeous. I went on a plant based diet 32 years ago. It's been great.
32 years!!!!! That's amazing. What an inspiration
Thank you so much! Looking forward to your plant based meal plan!
Love it! I'm transitioning to a plant based whole foods diet . On week 6 and feel incredible. Has totally helped my fibroid symptoms.
Yay! Can't wait to see the meal plan next week!
Yay I'm early, thanks for giving us this information, love it ❤️.
I just realized I've been watching your videos for half a decade and you keep producing new, wonderfully inspiring videos. You really helped me when I had serious self esteem issues and thank's to you I turned my training and eating from being about fixinging the things I hated about my body to showing it the love it needed and therefore keeping it healthy. There's such a difference I can't really put it into words but it's made a world of difference, loving vs. hating your body, and your always cheerful attitude has just been so awesome. So, thank you for everything. I'm so glad that your channel has grown because we need more of what you do and less bodyshaming out here! And I'm sure I'm just one of very many that you have helped this way, stay awesome! ♡♡♡
U r so amazing I have been following u since 2017 inspired by u a lot
Thank you Joanna !
Cant wait for the next weeks video....this was a great video
Wow! I absolutely love this information. This is what i try to do with my food intake. I would call it plantbased + fish, eggs (and i don't take processed sugar) but i probally can use some kind of structure especially since incorporating training...
Thanks for Sharing with us always
THANK YOU SO MUCH

Thank you for sharing..😊 all the way feom Philippines ❤
I soak beans and chickpeas overnight. In Greece we consume a lot of them. Now actually it's Lent for Orthodox and we consume plant-based food only.
Hi Joanna, I just found your channel and subscribed. I have been trying to become a nutritarian but I have a problem giving up cheese. Any advise on how to stop cravings?
You are looking amazing... go 🌱
Very good video dear.. Thanks❤️😍😘👌
Omg! I had no idea you had IBS. I have IBS and it's been a hard process to eat plant based! I was eating plant based before being diagnosed and eating everything I wasn't able to digest. So these videos will really helped me in my journey!
good idea!
I'm looking to go into an eating plan where I have 3/4 of my plate being vegetables and fruits. I'm hoping this will be something that will help in losing body fat along with the plan I'm already executing where I don't drink any soda

Great video! Eating this way (no meat, very little dairy) has helped me to lose over 80 pounds and I've kept it off for several years. I made to my goal, feel amazing, have natural energy and combined with daily exercise I have a toned body and a flat tummy. Love your videos and workouts! Thank you!
How long did it take to lose over 80 pounds??
can you explain the allergies to tempeh?
I loved the episode I went vegan but I felt so sad to not eat tuna and fish I freaking love seafood and you were right about not restricting but making better and healthier changes
I absolutely agree that when it comes to diet there isn't "one size fits all". I personally couldn't be 100% plant based either and I feel I need meat and cheese and it doesn't do any harm to me. I went gluten free from the 1st of March though. Keep your fingers crossed.
I think plant-based means you eat only plant foods, but you are not vegan (you will still wear leather shoes and so on). In other words, plant-based means your diet is plants, but I would not call it a "lifestyle" because it doesn't affect anything else in your life. It is mainly for people who avoid animal products because of concerns about cholesterol and so on, but have no ethical concerns about using animal products in other aspects of their life.
very well-explained!
This is a very helpful video, Joanna. Can't wait for the mealplan in the next one. :)
SO GOOD
Hi Joanna, can you please make a video on matcha tea and acv ...please
Ma'am your videos have inspired me a lot. I have started going to the gym please do make a video for a body type who have heavy chest portion,it really hampers my confidence 😔.
Me too, I feel like I have a funny shape due to my heavy bust😢
@@NomfundoV8 I think you can relate well
Just hoping ma'am sees this comment n give a response .. may be it's not possible but🙄 still ...
@@ARL_cReaTiOn_ I know what you mean, it doesn't hurt to try. I remember when I lost weight, I looked so much better even though the bust was still large. It makes things worse when you gain weight and it looks even more disproportionate. I've been trying to find videos here on RUclips as well, found a couple. I suggest you try and find something here as well.
Hi Joanna. When did you become Pescatarian?
How about seasonings? Salt or soysauce?
Can i include egg whites weekly once with plant based foods
How about recipes of soups, I love homemade soups and Asian soups.
Clay Girl forks over knives has a Thai Spring soup with noodles that is amazing. We have it weekly and right now I’m eating it for breakfast
I'm trying to eat mostly vegan, but I still eat something non-vegan when I crave it. I've always consumed small amount of meat, wasn't a fan of it. I don't have digestive issues with legumes. I would recommend lentils the most. They don't need a lot of time to cook and they are easy to digest :)
Waiting for ur meal plan
Can i take pampkin ?
Lots of confusion between plant based and vegan in the comments section. Vegans don't eat any animal derived products due to ethical and health reasons. Plant based doesn't mean not eating any animal products at all but to eat a majority if fruits and veg and some animal derived products, with a focus on health. Hope this helps!
Was checking your app out and a little disappointed it's Apple only. Any future plans to bring it to Android? Loved the video and all the info though. I've been considering making a switch to more plant based myself as all the latest research is showing great benefits
The Food app? It is available on android.
@@lorelieplum81 I used the link in the video and it took me to the Apple store...I found it on Android. Thank you :) this is why we don't comment before the morning coffee hits 😂
Hi Joanna,
I'm ur new subscriber. Your videos are too good and inspiring, just followed your 10,000 step challenge at home and I just did it!. Please make a video on how to run for 1minute for beginners.
Thanks

If you haven't eaten legumes previously or only occasionally and want to include them in a whole food plant based diet, you should introduce small amounts to your diet and gradually increase them. It takes time for your gut biome to adjust. That is, a major part of digesting the legumes is having the right bacteria in your gut to break them down. Without the population, you will suffer the gas and cramping. But do it gradually, the population will grow and then you will not have those problems, or at least much less severe. That's what I have read, and personally experienced. I too have IBS, but if I eat legumes prudently, I don't seem to have much problems with them. If I suddenly binge on them after not having for a while, then I will suffer.
The first usage of the term plant based was to describe the diet of Chimpanzee's. If they ate 100% plants they would simply be herbivores but they consume insects and meat in small quantities. Plant based means mostly plants, if 100% plants there is a different name. Vegans as of recently have tried to hijack the word to mean a meat free diet which is simply inaccurate.
Vegans arent really hijacking it though? Most vegans consider veganism and plant based to be different things - considering veganism to be an ethical stance about staying away from any animal products. Plant based just means eating more plants or just plants, but nothing else.
@@MinttMeringue , spot on! Thank you!
YAAAY! chocolate chip cookies are plant based diet. there goes the guilt! thanks JSoh! hahahahaha..... j/k🤣😁😋
I have been wondering about the jaïn people. They have been vegans for centuries, without supplementing like b12 or else, I believe. Does someone have informations about those people? As we don’t find much on the net. Thank you 😊
They are vegetarian rather than vegan. Milk and dairy are an accepted part of their diet as long as the milk not the result of cruelty.
Charie Zwane thank you for your answer. Yes I knew that much but I am still wondering if dairy is enough without complementing. I would like to know more about their health, diseases and lifespan.
100% vegetarian,,,, 😋😋😋😋 a lot dishes on veggies,,,,
I want to be pescatarian... but vegetarian coz of family :///
I went on a WFPB diet three years ago and lost 90 Lbs the first year. I eat fish a few times a year.
Gotta get that mercury in from the fish!
@@leonardodavinci7425 A little mercury has never killed anyone:)
Netflix subscribers, see the Kip Andersen documentaries COWSPIRACY and WHAT THE HEALTH? as well as Louie Psihoyos's GAME CHANGERS (featuring James Wilks) lest there be any doubt about reducing/eliminating animal products from your diet. Ms. Soh and her fellow fitness enthusiasts may like GAME CHANGERS in particular, as the film features a number of noteworthy athletes in addition to James WIlks as well as bodybuilders.
Okay now do inttermitent fasting or the omad diet for 30 days and see how you feel
Gotta eat fish to get your RDA of Mercury!
Awww, that sucks you're intolerant to tempeh. I eat both meat and plants and tempeh is one of my favorite vegetarian/vegan food.
That's y Hindus are suppose to be vegan. People who read and understand scriptures know this like many Saints. Those who don't ask silly questions and some even say Hindus can eat meat.
If you have IBS then find out what lectins are and look up Dr Steven Gundry on youtube , it may help
I never get to know you
👍👍
If you are eating meat or fish...its not a plant based diet!
💛💛😀x
Buuut... it's not a plant-based diet if you eat fish. : /
She addressed it in the video though
There is a difference between plant based diet and a vegan diet.
@@dr.kakoli6051 Yes, a vegan lifestyle and a plant-based diet are not the same thing. But claiming you are plant-based when you eat fish, is just incorrect and misleading. Whats she is describing is pescetarianism.
*I'm definitely more so carnivore and keto that I am plant-based! I eat raw meat sometimes.* 🐔
You are generalising heavily and not giving enough information about how one actually would go on a plant based diet !
Do you know people born on 22 sep are wonderful?? 😂😂
I have been your follower since years ago. But please use correctly the "plant based diet" term! And do real science research!! It just makes me start to untrust on your company...
Is it the Best?
