The era between Avengers Disassembled and Secret Wars is to me Marvel's modern golden age. Hickman managed to pull threads from other excellent stories of the time like Dark Avengers, Annihilation and War of Kings to craft his brilliant story built on the history of FF (Valeria being raised by Doom, Namor's obsession with Sue, Reed's father). This is Hickman's best work in the Marvel U.
I agree completely. Hickman’s Secret Wars is the perfect end for the MU I’m much less interested at what has happened since Hickman had left; quality had dropped like a rock with just a couple of exceptions.
I completely agree with your sentiment. I also believe Geoff Johns full time era up until new 52 was the best of modern dc. I call it the Johns era, but wade, Simone, Brubaker, Grant Morrison, Loeb and so many others were pumping out really great stories and events for dc, that ended with the new 52. Marvel was also killing it arguably until marvel now but specifically the time period u cited. 2000- 2011 was the last great era for comics if not one of the best decades.
I was hoping you'd get around to reading these two volumes. Thanks for going through them. I already had somewhat of an idea of some of the major plot points but you pointed out a few I did not know about. The FF will always hold a place in my heart for some of the best tales. I'm still holding out that these volumes (esp. Vol 1) will get a reprinting once Disney starts moving on that franchise (probably not until 2020 or later). Otherwise I might have to just pickup the trades. :-(
@@GemMintCollectibles what is the price of both vol. 1 and vol.2? I'm new to comics in a sense and would love to read Hickman's run on the Fantastic four.
I want to get into Fantastic Four but IDK where to start or if I would even like it. Any ideas on a run for me? I usually read Batman, Spider-man, X-men and Wolverine the most. Also like Silver Surfer and Galactus from only read them as part of events though.
Do you remember if Susan turns invisible even once during the run? I read somewhere that she does not, but I can't remember since i've read the comics many years ago
One concern I always have when checking out a FF book is the namor/sue attraction which I really dislike cuz I like Reed alot plz tell me there's little to none of that.
so the cover price is either $100 or $125... when they first come out, they are 50% off on instocktrades.com...sometimes they go out of print and start selling for almost double cover price on ebay and amazon. That happened with volume 1. But i think it got a reprint and can be bought for cheap, but vol 2 is not out of print.
Question for Gem; which Omnibus would you recommend to a newby like myself? (60 yrs old, read all my older brother's comics in the 60's)...would be nice if there was a stand-alone story since I can only afford 1 Omnibus, thanks for your time, John
I’ve never read these books. Actually I am looking to buy them. But, from reading Spider-Man the Future Foundation comes together because Johnny storm dies and Spider-Man joins the fantastic four in honor of the Human Torch. They even get those new white suits.

Lmao, when you realise the council of ricks from rick and morty is just a ripp off of this
Wow I never realized that

A God tier book.
Just picked up volume one! Thanks again
I think Valeria got along with Doom because he was one of the few people smart enough to keep up with her intellectually, and he won't patronize her.

I think you can start at the beginning...or the John Byrne run, or even this Hickman run.
@@GemMintCollectibles appreciate it man I think ill jump into the beginning. You guys are great keep up the vids
Gem could you do a Every Marvel Event released in Hardcover format or maybe a Dc one just curious

Gem Mint Collectibles yeah man I love what your doing with this channel and support what your doing 1,000% keep it up!!!
Do you remember if Susan turns invisible even once during the run? I read somewhere that she does not, but I can't remember since i've read the comics many years ago
come to think of it, i dont think she does. She just uses her powers to make shields and force fields.
Hope to get a reprint one day soon 😊👍👍
How long on average does it take you to read one of these omnibus?
a modern book like this, 2-3 days. now silver age or golden age...might take some weeks, maybe more.
reading a Clairmont book is like reading a novel.
Well you convinced me to start the 1st
Do I need to read anything prior to the Fantastic Four Omnibus vol. 1 ? (I have a general knowledge of the fantastic four)
You don’t
For someone who knows the basics of fantastic four, would this omnibus be a good place to jump into for someone looking to get into FF?
Yes, just you can jump in and piece it together
@@GemMintCollectibles I’ve read the annihilation arc too
Is this going to get reprinted anytime soon?
no news yet

Bruce Holmes lol there is some of that. There’s actually a funny panel that I sent to the Facebook group.
:(
Oh wait there's a Facebook group for the channel?
There is a Facebook page for this channel. But I was referring to the omnibus collector Facebook group. Search for it.
Bruce Holmes there is no attraction. Just obsession on namor's part. Sue written by hickman is one badass character
What omnibuses are most recommended?
i guess it would depend on your taste....marvel or dc? favorite character or team
I'm new to all of this but what is the price tag on those 2 omnibusess?
