Fraction’s FF was the first Fantastic Four I ever read and I really liked it. I’ve heard similar critics on the series and I just don’t agree. I think it’s a wonderful book. To each his own.
Okay, Omar, at this point you're just rubbing it in at how good you are at these videos. You could do a reading order of Casper the freakin' Friendly Ghost and I would watch it and then run out and buy the issues. As always, my friend, great work. #OmarRules
Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Millawdon Future Ticket Trick (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one off product for teaching children to read minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin at very last got astronomical results with it.
Very very helpful video sir! And this is coming from someone who has been reading /collecting comics for years!!! Half the videos about comics on RUclips are people showing their collection or what they hauled. Now don t get me wrong, i love to look at other people hauls as it helps medecide what to buy but videos like this one and the ones you made about X-men, Nightwing etc are invaluable. Keep them coming!
Thank you so much for the kind words. The reason I started doing these videos like this is because my hauls were getting dull, saying the same thing over and over again. And I'm like you, I love looking at people's hauls, but at least with these kind of videos I can put more of myself out there and talk about the books that brought me joy. And because I wish I had videos like these when I started into the collected editions game.
Watching some of your older videos like this just now and wow you've improved so much! And your comic knowledge is really second to none, all of your vids are really super helpful. Thank you so much!
OF COURSE we want a part 2, what a question. :) Anyway, it is true that Matt Fraction's run is a little bit of a let down. I would rather get in omnibus format a FF Vol. 4, Walter Simonson run, DeFalco / Ryan run (I have so many good memories of this one, thank god for the epic 'cos I sold my floppies) or even Carlos Pacheco's run which I think it was pretty good and his art would look great oversized.
Sadly Ruben, I was not a fan of Fraction's run. I'm honestly not the biggest Fraction fan when it comes to his superhero books....yeah even hawkeye. Much like you I would have rather have a Defalco run or Simonson omnibus. Who knows....maybe one day.
Awesome!! Was waiting for you to put this one together. I agree Vol 2 of Lee/Kirby is by far the better of the three volumes. They were really in their stride at that time. I just got Waid's Omni in the mail yesterday. Will start reading that one now and can't wait to get to the three-parter in issues #109-111! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
@Carnage - Yugioh I would include FF 334-354 Annuals 22 and 23. Honestly they could start the omni with John Harkness' run setting up some of the status quo for Simonson's run.
I recomend the first comic I ever read it was a Human Torch and Toro by Carl Burgos, I don't remember how I got it.i was a little kid. A friend had the first issue of Superman that I looked through. Think F.F. no. 1 was the first 12cent comic book. I can't remember when I was 44, that was so long ago.
Great video dude, really useful! That Fraction run looks terrible, lol! Will definitely be picking up those Hickman ones, just a shame there's not one of the Claremont post-reborn run yet. It's obscure, but I always felt we should have seen more of Lockdown and Rosetta Stone...
I just looked on Amazon to see what I paid for that Hickman Vol 1. I paid $60 for it back in 2013. I have not opened it yet. Aside from that, another great video sir. You do a really good job on this and I do appreciate it!!!
Thank you for the kind words, sir. I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the video. I got mine from IST and you made me look to see how much I paid for it. :)
Ignoring Mark Waid's horrendous ego and attitude, he is a very good writer. Heck, Kingdom Come still remains one of my favorite comic books of all time. But great overview. I'd need to reread the runs on the Four, but my favorite runs are: 1) Bryne 2) Lee/Kriby 3) Hickman. I know it maybe sareligious to put Lee and Kriby's stuff below since they are the creators, but I love John Bryne's take on the team. It is also the run that made Susan Storm awesome. I also love Johnathan Hickman's take on the team. He really did inject a sense of humanity with the Four that was missing and his storytelling was top tier. Some have criticized the ending of his run which is fair, but overall Hickman's run I recommend for a lot of newcomers and then if they are into the team, go into John Bryne's stuff.
@@NearMintCondition And that is perfectly fair and what I do as well too. :) Overall, great video covering F4. They are my favorite superhero team and my hope is that one day they will get a movie worthy to carry there name and be good.
Millar run is so underrated. Nu earth was a brilliant idea that should’ve come into play for Secret Wars. The last Doom arc sucks but people disrespect this run far too much.
For anyone upset over the fact that the John Byrne Omnibus volume 1 misses issues, I’d recommend getting the 20th Masterwork if Fantastic Four, as it collects all the missing issues. It’s cheap on Kindle
This definitely is Hickman's best Marvel run not just because of the quality which is top notch but because Marvel didn't interfere and he didn't have to deal with characters being changed or killed in the many events Marvel always has. His Avengers/New Avengers run was hamstringed a lot by events like AXIS and Original Sin which really affected Thor and Iron Man respectively. In his current X-Men run he has to deal with other writers and a glut of extra books no one needs.
This was awesome! Can’t wait to read up on this classic team! Do you plan on doing this kind of video with the dc heroes that you like as well? This type of video was an awesome idea!
I did Nightwing and I plan on doing other characters too like Catwoman, Birds of Prey and Batgirl. Eventually the big ones like Bats and Superman and Wonder Woman.
I saw some videos showing a book even bigger than an Omni that is from TASCHEN MARVEL Comic Library that also has house all of the ads or most of them.
Love all the videos by everyone on this channel!! Just ordered the Mark Waid omnibus becsuse of your reccomendation. I would like to see a complete reading order of all the space stuff from heroes like Nova, the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Waid and Wieringo's Fantastic Four run was my first FF comic and one of the first comics I ever read as a kid. It was the perfect scenario, and made me a fan for life. I have the OHC that I want to trade this comic shop in my city for the omnibus (it has the same content), because it's a nicer and more recent edition. Rest in peace, Mr. 'Ringo!
I have both of the John Byrne omnis and love them, but could have done without all the issues before his run starts officially. It especially annoyed me that issues he drew were printed that were in the middle of a storyline.
I've mentioned it before but I just don't get why collections don't get printed in a sequential format. Jumping all over the map just leaves gaps all over the place. I can live with different creative teams on a book as long as it's in order. I'm just glad I never got into collecting early works. I would love to try the Waid/Weringo collection you mentioned as long as the omni doesn't go out of print before I get around to buying it. I love the reading orders you do and would give you some suggestions but I enjoy the random variety of titles you choose. I just want to cherry pick the books I'm interested in without the issue of continuity getting in the way.
You are not wrong. The Lee/Kirby run on FF was the longest continuous run for decades. It wasn't broken until the Bendis/Bagley run on Ultimate Spider-Man. I believe that was the case.
The Fantastic Four is my favorite superhero team at Marvel even before the first movie about them came out. I hope that the Lee/Kirby Volumes 2 and 3 will be reprinted and that Volume 4 (and 5) will come out. I had Volume 2 but I sold it when I had to move abroad and I regret that decision. I haven't read Hickman's run but I heard good things about it so I hope it will also get reprinted along with Volume 2 of Byrne's run. Good job on making these reviews interesting!
I hope they get reprinted sometime soon too. My channel voted and it made it to the top 10 books to be reprinted by Marvel. I sent them the list and so far we are five out of ten.
Huge FF fan. Unfortunately I didn't have the funds when vol2 & vol3 reprints were released, around the same time my daughter was born. I'm hoping for another reprint. I did however pick up some high grade single issues at MegaCon this year. Some of the most beautiful covers I've see. Great video, thanks Omar.
I know there will be more reprints coming, but it's just a matter of when. Just be a little patient and try not to buy over cover. :) That's always my suggestion.
I liked the Matt Fraction run a lot more than the James Robinson run and certainly more than the current (might as well be a Marvel Adventures book at IDW) run by Dan Slott.

I’ve never read F4 other than outside of their own books, a few of hickmans issues here and there and the new run by Dan Slott. I pulled the trigger on waids omni after getting some Xmas cash. It’s coming in tomorrow and I’ve been worried if I’ll like it. I was going to upgrade my super sons trades to the Omni but I figured let’s take a chance on something new. After watching this video I know I made the right choice!
It's seriously my favorite run. It's gorgeous and the writing is just top notch. Waid at the top of his game and it's just wonderful for new readers and old readers.
Thanks for this video Omar. Very educational. I own the 3 Lee-Kirby FF Omnis and was just going to focus on those. However the John Byrne run intrigues me and I have managed to pick up the first Byrne FF Omni this morning on Ebay for under $100AUD including postage. I know that Vol. 2 is harder to get & more expensive so I will keep looking. See what you started.... lol 😁😁😁😁
Hi, Uncanny Omar, would you suggest reading the Fantastic Four by Waid and than Fantastic Four Vol 1 and 2 by Hickman before reading Avengers by Hickman?
Watched this video again as I found FF by John Byrne Omnibus vol. 2 yesterday for a reasonable price at my favorite comic book store (considering its OOP status) so I have a lay by happening & 8 weeks to pay it off. The Waid/Weiringo Omni looks interesting. Hickman? Maybe as I enjoyed his Avengers run. My Omnibus count has increased suddenly. Thanks in part to your videos mate. Cheers 😁
I asked because I've heard they were a little thin. So thin that you could be reading a page, and the page behind it, was actually visible. Was that an exaggeration?
You mean events? That would take a few videos, but I can... as far as everything...that would take a year to even go through. The difficult part would be the holes that haven't been collected yet. You did give me a great idea about events in collected editions though. Thank you.
Wonderful video as usual ! Does anyone knows how many copies of Marvel omnibus are printed for each title ? I've heard 3000 or 4000 each ? Can it be true ?
Hello! Do you know if Fantastic four by john Byrne vol 2 will ever get reprinted ? It seems weird that there was no announce after the reprint of vol 1, no?
Would you recommend Lee/Kirby vol.1 or Byrne vol.1 as a jumping on point? Both are in print atm but i dont want to buy both rn cause they are pretty pricey...
Got my John Byrne vol 2 omnibus (after long last), but found it odd how on the back of the omnibus it says it collects Fantastic Four Roast, but is found nowhere in the table of contents...
I read everything available in collected editions. If you want to read everything from original in omnibus format.. the first four Omnis have you covered.
I have this but I think mine is from 2005...but on back it says the printing is limited to 1500 copies. It has this variant cover though...but looks like the one you said you missed out on. Red MARVEL lettering on a white background on spine and states Fantastic Four Omnibus on the spine and is sealed still. Thoughts on printing?
Xbox-Ps4 player damn you are absolutely right. Must have been the slip of the tongue because he first appeared in FF 13. Seriously, thanks for pointing it out. Sometimes my mouth goes faster than my brain when I make these :)
Near Mint Condition yeah Amazon has the second John Byrne for free Two Day Prime delivery, but at a ridiculously high price ($174.99!!)The Hickman’s I feel will take awhile as his Avengers omnibus’s are equally hard to find. Hopefully with the success of his recent X-men run will entice Marvel to reprint the omnibus’s
Near Mint Condition Wow that’s amazing, you told me that about Busiek’s Avengers and I found both Omnis for about 25% less than cover and they are great so far. I’m so grateful I found a channel whose taste is similar to my own! So much better value! Thanks
@@NearMintCondition yeah. It was the FF that got me into comics. It's hard to find a really terrible run on their books. Either the writing makes up for lackluster art or the art makes inadequate writing palatable. Every once in awhile the FF strikes gold with both. So much goodness, but I enjoy them best when it's the core team. There's just something about that dynamic, and now Franklin and Valeria are really coming into their own and becoming great additions to that core.
Ohh ok that's it! I subscribed! Nice video once again! For everyone watching I suggest the "crushing krisis" website for amazing collecting guides of any major marvel book in any format.

@@NearMintCondition Yes, he seems to be so :) And he definitely does amazing work with his guides (and his youtube videos although it's been a long time since the last one)
I was literally reading the letter pages as I went along and saw a letter that was from a super young George R.R. Martin... I can’t remember which issue but it’s definitely in there. It was so cool because I didn’t know it was there and I just found it!
What stupidity to start the byrne vol. 1 omnibus in middle of story...they could have included it ..it woudnt have made this omni a non-John Byrne omni...now buy in search of galactus hardcover and get 6 issues overlapped with this omni

Thank you for watching. :) It's what I do. I know that volume 1 of Byrne was solicited for a reprint and hopefully that means volume 2 will come next.
Hi, Uncanny Omar, would you suggest reading the Fantastic Four by Waid and than Fantastic Four Vol 1 and 2 by Hickman before reading Avengers by Hickman?
I would absolutely suggest that!
Cheers 😁
It's what I do, my brother. :) Glad you found it for a good price.
Now that the Hickman runs are reprinted Omar is going to make me go broke 😂
Great stuff Omar! What's your opinion on the binding/paper thickness and quality of the FF (Hickman) omnibus's?
They are good. Not as thick as the original FF omnis first and second printings were, but thick enough.
I asked because I've heard they were a little thin. So thin that you could be reading a page, and the page behind it, was actually visible. Was that an exaggeration?
Is Fantastic Four vol 1 any good? Just wondering
Oh hellz yeah!
Could you do a series of vids of everything in the marvel universe in chronological order
You mean events? That would take a few videos, but I can... as far as everything...that would take a year to even go through. The difficult part would be the holes that haven't been collected yet. You did give me a great idea about events in collected editions though. Thank you.
amazing channel, thank you man
Hey omar, is the Fantastic Four (2012) by Matt Fraction Omnibus a good read? Can you do a review on it if you haven't yet?
Wonderful video as usual ! Does anyone knows how many copies of Marvel omnibus are printed for each title ? I've heard 3000 or 4000 each ? Can it be true ?
Hello! Do you know if Fantastic four by john Byrne vol 2 will ever get reprinted ? It seems weird that there was no announce after the reprint of vol 1, no?
I haven't heard of that particular reprint.
great video omar
Would you recommend Lee/Kirby vol.1 or Byrne vol.1 as a jumping on point? Both are in print atm but i dont want to buy both rn cause they are pretty pricey...
Go for the classic as that’s regarded as a series that is must read and I agree.
@@NearMintCondition Hi Omar. Any idea if that one´s getting a reprint any time soon?
@@ErickMattig There is one secret Reprint coming. FF 1 by Lee and Kirby :) no one knows yet.
great video
Chaz Sullivan thank you, sir.
Omar, is the Fantastic Four Vol 1, Vol 2, @ Vol 3 From the Omnibus . Did they put them in Epic Collection or Hard Cover.
They have started to do Epic collections of them. I believe the first four are out with five solicited.
A bit late on this video but, which volumes are solely from the Lee/ Kirby run?
The first four.
Got my John Byrne vol 2 omnibus (after long last), but found it odd how on the back of the omnibus it says it collects Fantastic Four Roast, but is found nowhere in the table of contents...
I think its only a couple of pages.
Near Mint Condition must be. Also it doesn’t say it on the front page either...
Fantastic! Part 2 please!
Thank you for watching and I sure will work on that.
Do some iron man omnibus order I wood like to know thanks for putting good content on RUclips
Thank you very much for the compliment and I will add that to the list.
What about hickmans avengers run and secret wars?
Ashearer 88 I can work on those books.
So how far do I read the original run before I switch to Byrne? I’m really trying to get into the FF comics so ur help will be much appreciated
That's the original one. The binding was rough on it.
Near Mint Condition That’s good to know! Because I just sold it locally for $125.
@@scottyg68 Nice!
Do a flash comprehensive order
I will put that idea down.
which your favorite team?
X-men for life!
yeah X men rules!!@@NearMintCondition Yeah
The watchers first aperance was in the first half of vol 1 not in vol 2. Great video though
Xbox-Ps4 player damn you are absolutely right. Must have been the slip of the tongue because he first appeared in FF 13. Seriously, thanks for pointing it out. Sometimes my mouth goes faster than my brain when I make these :)
Great vid Omar! Please do a followup with Trades and whatnot. :)
I plan on it, brother. Probably this Friday. :)
Haha. Omar, is this the video that caused David to reach out to you? Minute 18:15 lol
Lol one of them :)
Great video. Stay mint y’all. Now I’m going to be hunted down and killed by gem mint. Life was fun.
LOL you are asking for a lawsuit, brother. :)
is john bynre vol 1 still worth getting with the missing issues
Absolutely.!
I really want Vol 2 of John Byrne and Hickman but they’re out of print!
I'm sure at some point those will be back in print.
Hey is Waid’s run your favorite FF run ever? Like more than Hickman or Byrne?
Byrne and then Hickman for me.
Near Mint Condition and then Waid third?
So sorry. so for me its Waid>Byrne>Hickman>Defalco>Lee For sure. Top five. in that order.
Near Mint Condition Wow that’s amazing, you told me that about Busiek’s Avengers and I found both Omnis for about 25% less than cover and they are great so far. I’m so grateful I found a channel whose taste is similar to my own! So much better value! Thanks
omar, do you still recommend the waid and weiringo omnibus as a starting jumping point?
I stand by that statement still. :)
@@NearMintCondition thanks. ill try to get a copy.
Great vid Omar but you don't let us see the omnibus covers properly! Arrgghhhh
I do during the individual omnibus overviews :)
Watching this video today I laughed at Omar telling Marvel to get their $h!+ Together.
Nice
We need some reprints 😊👍
We are getting FF 2 and 3 Silver Age and volume 4
@@NearMintCondition ok great will be one the look out got Byrne vol 1 waiting vol 2 😊😊😊
@@NearMintCondition also can you do a punisher read order please thanks 😊
Spoiler alert ! :)) Great stuff, great video !!
Eh. The Waid run was okay, but Hickman's run was much better. Then would come Byrne, Simonson, and Claremont.
It's all subjective, right brother? You know who I left out that I really enjoy is Tom Defalco too.
Thank you for the sub, sir. Funny you mention Crushing Krisis. Peter and I go way back to the days of the Marvel Masterworks forums. :) He's a great guy.
@@NearMintCondition Yes, he seems to be so :) And he definitely does amazing work with his guides (and his youtube videos although it's been a long time since the last one)
I keep meaning to hit him up to see if he would do a collab video on X-men sometime soon. :)
I was literally reading the letter pages as I went along and saw a letter that was from a super young George R.R. Martin... I can’t remember which issue but it’s definitely in there. It was so cool because I didn’t know it was there and I just found it!
Its' in there. So damn cool :)
What stupidity to start the byrne vol. 1 omnibus in middle of story...they could have included it ..it woudnt have made this omni a non-John Byrne omni...now buy in search of galactus hardcover and get 6 issues overlapped with this omni
Gem Mint is suing you for copying his stay minty line. Omar almost cried, we all know only after sex doe's that happen and I think that's not true, I think you cry because you don't get sex. Oh and you talked about oversized, He he he. Well you ever see a foot long, I'm more like a little smokie. Nuff Said. Merry Xmas Omar.
Merry Christmas to you too, Comic Guy. The Gem father and I have settled the beef.
