This Lefty Lucy guy is the one that introduced me to Sleep Token and Bring me to the Horizon.. These 2 groups are amazing.
Would strongly recommend their song "Higher," these guys have the ability to enter more progressive territory.

Sleep Token is one of those bands that is technically great, but also so emotionally impactful. Listening to them for me is something I have to do when I'm not doing anything else. It just forces me to only experience the music.
Blood Sport and The Offering are also great songs from Sleep Token

You mentioned the drummer sounds like a gospel drummer. Technically they are a gospel band. The entire identity of the band surrounds the worship of a deity known as "Sleep". The point of the masks and the anonymity is because they want the music to be important, not their identity

New single from them released called “Alkaline”. It’s phenomenal
“Jaws” is one of the best songs I’ve heard this year. That guys voice is so soothing, I really love it, kind of a deep voice but really melodic.
Also, I’ll keep saying you should check out Leprous. They have the best singer and drummer I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying a lot. It’s actually in the same spirit as Sleep Token, dark, but emotionally moving and powerful music.

Nah… there’s no such thing. Their albums are rollercoasters of rhythm and emotion.
I think the offering is pretty overrated, though I do enjoy it a lot. Prefer Higher, Calcutta, Thread The Needle, Sugar more any day.

You should definitely check out Thornhill - Where We Go When We Die. It’s such a great song from an exciting band from Australia

Yes, this! Not only is Thornhill great, but there are so few 'reaction' videos for them. There's no gimmick to bandwagon, no exaggerated surprise face thumbnail, it's just good music that deserves to be heard.

I heard this song in a friends car over a year ago now and have not gone a day without listening to it. It's a whole body experience. I think the music video relates to the song, with the longing for intimacy but. the idea of tearing each other apart in the process. The bug to me symbolises the decay of a relationship.
I also highly recommend 'the offering' by them.

I always heard The Offering but didnt know how the band was, or didnt pay attention. The instant I heard his voice I recognized it... I was like woah! Is this the guy that sings "The Offering"?? Dayummm
Also, this song depicts a beautiful threat they can see in their partner, how they don’t fit together and the danger of such is something attractive and appealing. Watch the video again now knowing this, it's so good.

There’s a number of reaction creators out there, but I love your channel because of how strongly you feel the music you are listening to. Never change sir!
Weather you react to it or not the vocalist's solo acoustic piano performance of 'Blood Sport' is an absolute treat you should hear. Especially as far as first time song listens go it has a monumental impact. Honestly without question in my top 10 live vocal performances I've ever come across and really just a phenomenal song. Only caveat is that it may or may not ruin the original version for you as it doesn't even comes close imo (not that the original is bad in the slightest, but like, damn the acoustic version is just on a completely different plane of existence.)
Gonna have to respectfully disagree on that take. The original Blood Sport is so much more impactful emotionally (especially considering the ending-I was a little disappointed that the acoustic one didn't have "that" in it). However, I will agree that the acoustic one is just as phenomenal, in its own way.
You really have to check out this song…. Looks sport the room below is straight to the heart

The lyrics impact me in the same way many Sleep Token songs do: It's you and your beloved. Something that feels holy and monstruous about you two. Nothing is ideal about you both, but suffering together makes it ideal. You both are broken together and that's what you know. That's what you love.
And the video: Well, kinda the same really. I actually think it is about a suicide pact. These two girls sharing one last moment of connection, before the last divide.
...I don't know about the bug though, don't know what to tell ya.
Anyways. Reacting while actually trying to play and figure out the music is a great idea for a channel man, keep it up!

I am not going to say who the drummer is, but I do know him and I believe Tony Royster Jr. is one of his biggest influences so you actually pretty much hit the nail right on the head lol

Since you dropped this react I have been obsessed with Sleep Token. While I appreciate they are masked so people take in their music for exactly what is it and not focus too heavily on their appearance, I am growing ever more frustrated that I don’t know what the artists look like!! I like to imagine the singer when I listen and all I’m met with is a blank face!! Damn it! Stunningly talented musicians though!

Guy hears Sleep Tolken then perfectly plays Sleep Tolken on the piano. What a virtuoso.
All honesty here…I have a very strong ear and I have been learning much more complex music by ear for a long long time. These chord progressions are very simple. So, I guess I’m saying thank you 🙏, but it’s really not too difficulty with a song like this. 😘
I'm coming into this years later, but if you haven't checked out the recent interview Drumeo did with the drummer (ii) then you should. He literally mentions gospel being a massive influence for him, and also if you want to really hear his drums clearly - he's put out a bunch of An Offering from ii videos that are their songs played without vocals with his drums player in a studio at the forefront above the other instrumentals. It's given me such a major appreciation for his playing and the band as a whole.
Also, the song Euclid would be something I could see you really enjoying and would absolutely watch a reaction video from you for.

Also, Twelve Foot Ninja released a new fun and funky track, Long Way Home . Would love to see your reaction to that as well! Keep up the fun energy!
The singer is a devout man who grew up heavily involved in church choirs, which is why his voice is insane. It's also why the music is so akin to gospel all the time. He does have solo stuff, and while I won't doxx him here you can find his identity on Reddit to see the other project. He's truly an incredible musician.
His name is Vessel. That's the only identity that matters.
@@brandonpuckett4089 I disagree, his other music is incredible and I enjoy having more information about a singer I respect so much. I have never shared his identity directly and never will, but I do want people that also adore him to be able to find more of him and I hope they will also be respectful enough to keep his name out of conversations. Also, without finding his other music, many of the layers of meaning behind Sleep Token are obfuscated. Because I know more about him, I understand the project a lot more. It's not just a cool Lovecraft themed band, it's a veil and it serves a few different purposes. I recommend the dive if you ever get the wild itch, but also I respect just knowing him as Vessel for the sake of buying in to the surface level of the band. Once you peek behind the veil you cannot unsee.
@@2dadskissing See, I am aware of the artist you're speaking of. I have heard the full catalogue of music from that artist, and it's beautiful! However, the Sleep Token project is one meant to focus on THIS music, not previous works of the man Vessel was before. He's directly said so himself. The meanings behind Sleep Token are directly in the music, one just has to read between the lines and see what the allusion is. I've spent a number of years following this band, and can tell you I understand what you mean in all of it... and agree to a degree. But, by Vessel's word directly, I take this band as a stand alone, and I try to support that by asking people to not reveal things about Vessel or the other vessels.

This is definitely my favorite Sleep Token song (might even by my favorite song of all time actually), so glad to see this reaction. The absolutely crisp CRUNCH of the breakdowns in contrast to the beautiful melody gets me head banging every time I listen. Thanks for making this video!

Listening to this song right now I've just realized how much the singer's highs remind me of Crywolf, especially his album Cataclasm and some live sessions he did a couple years ago.

One of my absolute favorite bands. Really mature musicians and writers. Every song by them is a recommend, but blood sport, the offering, and calcutta would be the ones id try first. The drums on calcutta were not live tho

As for the video and relation to the song, I've always thought the song was about addiction.
Singers perspective is the drug. "Im not here to be, the savior you longed for" - "as you look at me, with the eyes of a predator" all can be interpreted as the addiction.
Sleep Token is one of the greatest talents to come to music in decades. Their songs are so unique. And I love a good philosophical identity.
The drummer just did an interview with Drumeo, and confirmed his is heavily influenced by gospel drumming! Good call!
