- Have you ever stopped an looked around in a multiplayer map in Halo and wonder why you're there? Have you ever wondered if these places are canon? Each map has its own interesting story to tell.
This is part 1 of 2. As I started putting this video together, it slowly got longer and longer until it was over an hour in length. So I decided to cut it up into two parts.

Zanzibar from Halo 2 and Stonetown from Halo 2 Anniversary appear to all be part of Wind Power Station 7, rather than separate locations. Signage in Stonetown labels it as Wind Power Station 7 and the map description for Zanzibar refers to it with the same name. I'd guess that each map is a different portion of the power station or a different time period, given the differences in the structures and beaches.
That’s actually a really cool retcon if sandtrap is prisoning an endless. I know it was a critique that the endless came out of nowhere, and people questioned why we’ve never heard of such an important species before infinite, but then we have moments like this, and that mystery spaceship from Halo CE Anniversary, which convinces me that the endless CAN naturally fit into the lore. That’s the great thing about halo, there’s so many ambiguous lore threads that can easily be expanded on in the future
I’ve never understood that qualm anyways. The universe is big, there’s plenty of space for unknowns. Take the covenant fringe for example. I’ve never heard anyone complain about them and they’re several species that the covenant unintentionally kept hidden. If the covenant can hide that much without even trying, it’s not at all unbelievable that the forerunners could intentionally hide a species, among many other things.

For the holes in the concrete at 22:20, my dad, my brother and my uncle all work in construction. The symmetrical holes in the concrete look a lot like spots where the rebar is not covered by the concrete, and stick out just slightly. As for the grid patterned lines in the concrete, I forgot what they are called, but they are likely caused by these great big metal pads they use when making concrete walls. The concrete seeps into the joints between the plates, causing a tiny little line of concrete to stick out!
I wondered that as well. Someone else suggested it’s a type of modular militaristic design. The holes would allow weapon racks and the like to be inserted. It appears that they’re actually holes rather than something sticking out.
Your suggestion sounds good too. Ultimately 🤷♂️
@@Woodyisasexybeast Thank you, seeing as it appears to have blown away concrete, the fact it is sci fi, and it's a military sight, It could easily be my idea, your idea, or anyone else's idea! Sadly we only have assumptions and textures to go off of though, but all ideas are good!
Its fun to theorize anyways. Even it’s something as mundane as holes in the wall 🤷♂️
@@Woodyisasexybeast Indeed it is my friend!
Can you do every map in the series? Including the Infinite maps you missed? Super underrated channel. You’re gonna pop off at some point for sure. Keep it up.
I’d love to but these map analysis videos are really hard to make and get very few views. It’s still on my agenda, I think I just want to wait until I have more eyes on my channel. The next one I do will either be Halo Infinite season 2 maps or I’m going to “remaster” the Halo 3 ones by fixing some audio, adding some things I missed and combining both parts into one.
And thank you 🥲
Fun and interesting vid, knowing more about these iconic locations and/or speculating about em is always great.
Guardian not only has the epitaph holograms - the pedestals they float above have a texture I call Guardian Ribs, which only appear on the Ark, and Zeta Halo. The Ancient Text (what you refer to as glyphs) also appear sparingly engraved in the dark blue trim throughout the walls of Guardian. The Ancient Text and the Guardian Ribs appear in the desert witch's tent in the Halo TV show too. Obviously that's not canon lore, but it shows 343 is working to show that the Ancient Text and Guardians are connected.
My working theory is that the text is the mantle's creed, as it's used used exclusively in locations dedicated to conservation and guardianship. Now that offensive is hinted at in Infinite's end scene, and there's a new Halo novel coming called Halo: Epitaph, 343 is surely looking to extend this mystery to something foundational rather than trivial :)
Those are some really interesting observations. Say what you want about 343 but their approach to the universe outside of the campaigns and the world building in general has been excellent. I just love that such an obscure little detail has jumped to the forefront of some of their modern story telling. Not only does it feel like really cool fan service but it’s also just really good story telling. Sandtrap becomes this massive hint of foreshadowing that no one could’ve ever fully predicted.
The Halo tv show though? That, I do not appreciate.
I always interpreted "Construct" to mean that the map itself was something that was constructed, but you bringing up the other definition of the word makes a lot of sense, given its location on the Ark!
I sincerely hope one day the code is cracked regarding the mysterious glyphs on the Ark maps, too. Infinite certainly seems to imply some sort of attachment to the Endless or Forerunner prisons, and it wouldn't surprise me if the glyphs were something like an ancient Forerunner script, reserved for special use in scenarios such as that - perhaps analogous to Latin vs. English?
Not to mention the high quantity of constructor sentinels patrolling the map. I think it’s a sort of double entendre. It’s a construct because it’s part of the Ark but it’s also a tool to construct things. Definitely a clever and aptly named map.
I think the answer to the gylphs will eventually be revealed. There inclusion in Infinite is a very calculated narrative decision. They could have chosen literally any textures whatsoever, any symbols or glyphs. But they chose those? It’s absolutely the first steps towards their reveal. Of course, it could just be a clever nod to the few who remember them but I sincerely doubt that.
Great vid man thanks! Hope all have a blessed year 😊 John 3:16-21
You didn’t mention that the flood actually spreads on Isolation surface the more time you spend on the map
I did. It’s in part 2. I even have a time lapse of it spreading
Halo is freaking scary
It certainly had its moments. Every heard of the story, The Mona Lisa? Talk about scary
Sandtrap STILLL has secrets we are trying to figure out today, Mostly what the ancient texts on Sandtrap,Guardian, and Level construct mean
Sandtrap, citadel, construct, epitaph and sandbox all have the strange text. My money is on some kind of connection to The Endless
@@Woodyisasexybeast especially because the Description for “Sandbox” Reads “an endless wasteland” along with All the forge materials looking exactly like the harbingers head Shape 😏
I thought that had been solved by someone else recently. May be wrong though
@@CGCGCG91 the codes haven’t been deciphered, although the one thing we CAN see is “DE10” referencing a bible with the ark and “gods writing shall write on stones and put them in the ark” funny cuz we see ancient texts THERE on installation 07 AND we only see them on the Ark
Bro thank you for doing this cuz I've been wondering myself but I got a question I've noticed on the master chief collection there was some more maps added on to the Halo 3 multiplayer part what's that about??
Waterfall, Edge and Icebox. I talk about them in part 2. They’re from a canceled Russian multiplayer only game called Halo Online. Tons of assets were made for it before the project was scrapped. It was a modified version of Halo 3, with new weapons, maps, armor and mechanics. Those three play spaces are sort of the last vestige of that canceled title.
