  • I felt i needed to do something else in the garden except dig, barrow and rake away. This is a very easy job. It was actually easier than the patio. Patio is still holding up well but just needs a clean.

    Well done, instructive and concise video. I particularly appreciate the lack of unnecessary jibber-jabber.

    What a beautiful seat. I love your video. Not all that chatter just get er' done. I found your video because I want to do a wall/seat maybe planter around my patio. Debating whether or not to hire or do it myself but after looking at this video I think I will be doing it myself.

    Hi. Enjoyed watching your video. I’ve been wanting to make a seat off of my patio which has a slope downward, but I don’t even know where to start tackling “the slope”. What would you do?

    • @EnglandAndy
      @EnglandAndy  4 года назад +5

      My video is also on a downward slope, maybe not as bad as yours but you do it exactly the same way but your holes will be deeper. The long level you use is key. This is just an example. So dig your holes, one maybe 2 inches deep and the other maybe 4 inches deep. Now place 1 block in each hole and place a level ACROSS THE 2 BLOCKS NOT INDIVIDUALLY Remove or add dirt until level. Then add your base and do the same thing. Tamp it down for a solid base. This is your foundation to start from. It does not matter if your first line of blocks is underground and it will be if you say your slope is bad. Build until you reach your desired height but check for level on each row. It really is easy, you may just need to see it built before you start just to picture what you are doing. I do this quite a lot. Hope this helps and good luck.

    First of all there is more surface area so less chance of hitting your hand and secondly you can control it more and make it bounce less so when cutting bricks and blocks I prefer a more dead blow than a bounce. For nails i will use the round end. Try it and see.

    Andy are you in no freeze zone? Would you have to set the pavers( wall blocks) lower in the climate where the temps drop to -15 degrees?

    • @EnglandAndy
      @EnglandAndy  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I am in Florida we get cold only for around 2 weeks of the year. In my opinion it's a small wall and it is a feature so I think that even if you did one more coarse to be safe you should be good.

    Ok How many pieces did you need for the project? Thanks

    • @EnglandAndy
      @EnglandAndy  5 лет назад +3

      Think I used 54 pieces for the main wall, 2 white paving slabs for the capstones and I had 6 block pavers lying around for the center

    • @EnglandAndy
      @EnglandAndy  4 года назад +1

      Sorry, I am not understanding exactly what you meant. Did I get compaction ? then yes with the paver base but not with just sand. It was enough for a very small wall.

      I can only think of two reasons, 1 would be not wanting to smack your hand with a miss, but it's more likely that he's delivering multiple SOFTER blows (to end up with the cleaner-cut)
