    Hi Uncle Dave, I've been a Sphere member for about 6 months, previously just had Artist, and I am so happy that I've signed up. The collaboration workspace is FANTASTIC, especially during this lock down period of our lives. I've formed a band of musos from all over Australia and it has been an amazing way of making music and friends. My only negative comment is that there is almost too much choice...it's bewildering. I could spend the rest of my life exploring and using this stuff. I'm stoked 😃

    I’ve not long got a SQ and started using Studio Artist, and love it. This subscription seems a no brainier to me, as someone relatively new to this, it gives me everything I’d need in one place. It’ll all work together without going hunting for free or cheap plug-in’s (that more often than not free). Also, most tutorials I’ve seen seem to be based on the full program, so having it to work along makes sense. Another thing is, I was looking for good guitar virtual instruments and the cost of them is at least the same as a year’s subscription to Sphere, that comes with a few guitars!

    I've been a Sphere user for a year now and I love it! There is so much value in this poduct for about £4 a week that it's a no-brainer! I love Studio One on it's own but the mastering section, notation, collaboration, cloud services, all the plugins that Presonus create, free updates and even more. Compare that with Pro Tools (which I abandoned after 20 years because I felt I was getting ripped off) and it blows it away. In my opinion it's in a league of it's own because of the quality and how much it costs. Superb!

    I love studio one, I started with Artist 4 when I bought an interface and upgraded to 4 & 5 pro mainly for the extra stuff that works with the SQ. I am in no way an expert with a super lot to learn.
    Sphere does not work for me and I wont be joining. I like to keep my plugins to a minimum but since sphere I have decided to buy new VST's etc from third parties just incase presonus make S1 subscription only..... S1 5 has enough to keep me busy for years anyway so I aint going anywhere soon.
    I am certainly feeling the love with 5.5... Nice work Presonus

    Dave, I've found a number of your educational resources to be very valuable since I entered the Studio One realm back with version 2. A question for you with regard to this latest iteration - in all this time I've acquired many plugins and virtual instruments ranging from GForce's M-Tron Pro mellotron emulation to the Waves Abbey Road and Eddie Kramer plugins - and many more. How seamlessly will these play with this new configuration of Studio One? I'm currently on 4 Professional and (like earlier versions) these plugins are easily installed and immediately accessible within the DAW - is it still just as simple? Do you download 5 into a folder structure similar to 4 and earlier? Thanks in advance for any input!

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  2 года назад +1

      If you are happy with version 4 and all your plugins are working then why upgrade? Is there a real reason for it? You should not have any issues with version 5 but I can't guaranty that. When version 5 first came out it was a nightmare for many 3rd party plugins and I did a 3 video series on that topic. Now, most of those issues have been resolved but unless you really need to upgrade, I would stick with what you have that is working.

    I just watched the Presonus video describing the Sphere service/subscription, etc. and by the time I was halfway through it, my eyes glazed over and I laughed out loud! It's like being indoctrinated into the Borg or something! I'm just a 70-year old retiree who has been making MIDI music since the 1990s and I just want to create jazz, on my own (I'm an introvert), not for money, but for the sheer joy of making music. So 99% of what is included in Sphere is overwhelmingly unnecessary to me. I really hate subscription-based software, but I thought "maybe" Sphere might be a painless way to have access to the full Studio One application. I don't NEED that, but it might be nice. At this point, though, I'm thinking that simply buying Studio One Artist edition, which was my original idea, would be better. The price is affordable and, once I've bought it, that's it. I like that. I like keeping my life as simple as possible.

      Presonus was founded in 1995. They started with hardware. They were bought by Fender in 2021. Cakewalk was founded I believe in the 80s. They were very popular and bought by Gibson a while back. Gibson ran it into the ground in short order. That means newer versions of your operating system may break it. A few years later it was bought by another company who began releasing free updates. My friend and I were Cakewalk users. He dabbled in Studio One and I looked and decided the innovation and efficiency was worth it, then discovered Sphere. Given the extras I'm getting more for far less money than free and this DAW is converting users from other systems including Protools. No matter how you buy software a company going out of business is a potential disaster. Presonus seems strong and amazing.
