I'm only a hobbyist but have a high powered machine and I'm having similar issues. My projects are very small so I shouldn't be having these issues. My personal preference is if they focused on speed and stability and THEN give us extra features if they can.
Yikes... I love Studio One, still on an older version since it does everything I need it to but also testing out Reaper lately and loving it. Unfortunately a lot of people seem to be having serious issues with Studio One v 5...
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Reaper: insane good cpu utilisation, extremely customisable, great helpful community, the devs are part of that too and very helpful, gets updated multiple times a week, very stable, arsenal of midi and audio functionality can be expanded with custom actions and scripts, making really fast workflows possible regarding audio / midi editing and midi composing. Costs only 60 dollar. With Reaper, even the Sky is no limit. Just my 2 cents, from a longtime Reaper user on Mac.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy I'm still using Studio One as my primary DAW but love the routing flexibility of Reaper, the custom themes which on my wide screen monitor combined with the ability to undock sections of Reaper makes for a better (and prettier) workflow !
PreSonus is great...but they been having issues for a long time....I wish they would make sure the pass issues is fixed before releasing a new version...we support you PreSonus....but hear us out
I've had issues after joining PreSonus Sphere, with Studio One 5, one was with Melodyne 5 crashing studio one. Updated Melodyne,took care of that issue. The other was SD3 using 2 cores on my PC, putting it back to one core fixed that issue. I'm running fine now thank God, I was pulling what little hair I have out!
Hey Dave..after 20 years in the IT industry, prudence tells me to wait for at least 6 months before rushing into the latest version of anything, no matter what the new features are. There are always bugs. S1 4.6 just works. Clearly it works for you too. Sit with that until the wrinkles are ironed out. BTW, I'm a PC user
I wish I could but as an educator who does this for a living, most people want to see the latest and great version and so unfortunately I have to upgrade
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Fair comment. However, if it's unusable, as you pointed out in your video, the upgrade is counterproductive. No point in having the latest version when you can't really use it
My amateur detective sense is wondering if there's an issue in the video rendering buffers...admittedly a DAW is extremely light on CPU and video cards since they are limited to 2D...but I can certainly see where this kind of issue can become extremely frustrating and interfere with your ability to use the software effectively...
I think that’s the answer. This lag is definitely about the GUI, in my opinion. That’s the reason I stopped using any fancy GUI third party plugins. Studio one has all the tools that you need built in. Check out the video about drum replacement using groove maps. It’s on presonus channel. I personally tend to use only stock presonus plugins. The sound itself is mostly defined by our engineering skills, plugins are just helpers.
I have never had a DAW crash so much. I had to export stems and blow the dust off Logic Pro X to get a very simple project with only a few tracks finished. There is so much that I love about Studio One but using it in a pro-environment with a client would be a no starter. Fortunately, I've been working alone for months, but I am now at my wit's end! 😢
I've stopped using v5 because I keep having random spikes in the volume. Also I keep hearing clicks and pops when cpu is very low and I have a powerful computer. Also dropouts in sound. Smh
I’ve had the exact same issues Drop-outs in sound, clicks and pops (when adding plugins) and a 666 spike I actually switched back to pro tools because it’s more stable on my pc Yeah, read that again: pro tools is more stable than studio one
Yeah.., I know what you mean, my brother. I LOVE Studio One.., and have been using it since version 1.0 and have NEVER had a problem with my plugs, until version 5. My Waves plugs GUI disappears. And, unfortunately, I have a whole lot of Waves plugs. I am sure that it will get fixed, at some point. They are really good about that. However, until they do, I haven't been able to use it when I go to studios outside of my own.

Exactly same problem here brother. Have Gold and each one does the same. Have you noticed you can still use presets from the drop down menu though? I miss my L2 :(
@@NumptyButtkick Yes, my brother. That has been my "work around". Also.., if I click on another plug.., like a native Presonus plug, and then click on a Waves plug, the GUI shows up.., but only if it's a VST.., not an AU. 🙏🏽
Sticking with 4.62. Everything I have works well and I've yet to crash it on my system. 5.0's features aren't something I'd use but who knows what they'll add in future updates.
Yeah, Presonus support is very bad right now. They should have asked what type of VSTi you're running in the first place. I would check to see if the issue changes if you use 3.0 or 2.4 VSTs of the same plugins. Presonus needs to step up and get these bugs out, can't release something this buggy in 2020.
I have had nothing but good support from them but I totally understand your frustration. Dont worry, I am going to stay on this issue until the bus are worked out. Trust me, Presonus watches my videos
@Home Recording Made Easy I thanks for you staying on the issue. I 100% understand the support team at Presonus don't create these issues, so i shouldn't take it out on them. I just think they shouldn't use auto blame on the end user just by default. My first run in with Presonus's support left me thinking i wasted my time even reporting it. My first message to Presonus support was stating that my audio would pop and/or click with high latency. I also stated I myself don't use ASIO, I use Windows audio. So they came back and just said, it was my settings and i should install ASIO4ALL. I know what i'm doing, i kept telling them, nope, i was wrong over and over. I also kept saying that i have had no issues running my setup in Studio One 4 the same 100% way, but the end reply was i was wrong. Like they just didn't listen and/ or even want to. It took like 4 messages for them to say, okay we'll look into the issue. So that's kind of way i got kind of mad in my first comment. When you stated that support just said it was the plugin company and not their software i lost it.
I am using Studio One 5 with the latest update, working on finishing up my first song, only issue I have had is with Waves, which I fixed by reinstalling and reactivating in Waves Central, I have no issues with Sonarworks or fabfilter. Windows 10, Ryzen 9 (still have Studio One 4 but have not opened it since installing 5)
I haven't been able to use Studio One for about six months now. Spontaneous latency and lag just appeared at different times across multiple audio interfaces exactly like is happening here it effected amplitube one day then something else the next. Went back and forth with support at Presonus but they couldn't work it out. Didn't change anything didn't install anything new it just hits randomly. It's not the plugins its Studio One and they have known about this issue for a while just ask Kyle at Presonus support.

Had some horrible issues with Sonarworks causing latency and audio glitches ( a known problem that Sonarworks apparently are still unable to fix and not sure how to since version 4.1) and decided after going round in circles with Presonus support that I'd wipe my HD and install a fresh OS and just my basic most used plugs to see if there were still issues...... low and behold the same issues are there. I'm also getting crashes when doing anything random.. opening a plugin, closing a window, etc... maybe 4/5 a day. Support told me that the following plugins could be causing it.... Omnisphere, Melodyne, Autotune, Sonarworks.. Here's the kicker.. I created an EXACT replica session in Logic and was able to work on it flawlessly for hours without it glitching or crashing. If they don't get this fixed within the next update or so I'm heading back to Logic. A lot of people rely on DAW's to make their living.. we aren't all college dudes noodling with Ampire and the new show page.. We need stability FFS.
Yes. I do this for a living and I need something that is rock solid. I dont have the time to play "I.T." guy. Logic Pro is something I have not spent a lot of time with but because Apple created both the hardware and software I would assume it would be very solid and stable.
Home Recording Made Easy Exactly that. I don’t have time to play IT guy and not should I. PreSonus want to blame every other plugin company rather than themselves.. who on gods green earth ONLY uses PreSonus native plugins and nothing else!?? We are basically their beta testers for updates. It’s getting old at this point.
I thought I was the only one experiencing these problems with S1v5. My T-racks plugins doing that same thing. I am using Windows. I decided yesterday to bounce stems and mix in S1v4 for now.
PreSonus feels like it is transitioning from Abbey Road Studios itself into the Abbey Road online shop. It's still beautiful software, but it seems more calculated and less spirited. They've got their own shop of plugins you can purchase from right there inside the convenience of your own DAW, and guess what? 3rd-party plugins crash left and right. Even their website stopped being compatible with Safari when 5 was released and it was still f'ed up last time I checked. I sent them screenshots just days after 5's release and never got a response. Had to download Google just to get my free upgrade to 5. Last time I checked my PreSonus user area, I needed Safari to see my old stuff and Chrome to see version 5. I've bought tons of products from other companies and that has never happened before! But those kinds of problems have usually happened with companies that were on their way out. Sloppy companies. Did PreSonus get ripped off by someone? Did they overreach? Did they change owners or something? I hope the update rocks. Otherwise, something is amiss.
I hear your frustration. I can tell you they are the same company owned by the same people and generally they are very good and up to this point with Studio One, at least for me all the updates have always been great. Not sure what is happening with version 5 but I do get a little nervous when more than one person who works for the company instantly say "it's not them but someone else". That makes me think a bit different but I am still a huge supporter of them at least for now :)

And then I got something from "The Folks @PreSonus" in my email this morning full of stuff to buy and I realize: they never notified me directly about the new upgrade. I found out about it when I saw the thumbnail for this video. You'd think they could at least run a banner on the start page in S1. But that's full of products too. I think the marketing section has taken over the studio.
Dave, I have a late 2015 iMac, 4GHz CPU, 24GB RAM and still running Mojave with Studio One Pro v5.0.1. I use Trigger all the time with no problems whatsoever. No window lag, no delay in triggering. Also have SD3, Radiator, FabFilter and the Slate stuff and none of them are having the problems you are having. I was having problems with CPU temperature thanks to the heatwave we're having in the UK but setting the fan to auto sorted that out. It seems weird that you're having problems in v5 but not v4.6. Perhaps there is different running process that is causing the problems. Check the activity monitor. Also if you right click on 'Get Info' you can set all files of the same type to any program you wish.
Just reverted back to 4.6 as well. Reasons: Mixer disappears when go into edit window. High CPU Metronome starts half a bar early etc... Cheers for info.
Though I'm on a PC and haven't had any of the problems you've experienced, you're doing a good service for Mac users (and the GUI issues I've read largely seem to be Mac-related; hopefully it all gets fixed). One thing about the video, at about @7:35 -- Sonarworks is better put on the Listen bus.as a default -- you no longer need to worry about it accidentally being included in a mixdown.
The only thing I have some issues with tight now in studio one 5.0.1 is the arpeggiator.I cleaned my harddrive and reinstall my iMac and studio one 5.0.1. But the issues are still the same. Tried with Both 3rd part vst and with Presence. And the issues are the same as before.
I use Windows and had similar problems with screen lag and very slow song saves. The slow saves could take minutes instead of seconds. All my problems were eliminated by disabling the high performance graphics card in my Dell notebook. Then, resetting Windows to allow S1 to use the GPU caused the problem to return. So at least for my situation I am certain that the high performance GPU is a problem for S1.
Hi Bud, I just bought trigger 2 for 50 bucks. You have always been helpful and Im going to return the favour. If I have the same issue Im going to give Presonus hell.
There's no way i'm upgrading until this is all sorted. my main worry for presonus is that they are trying to do too much with S1. They're now trying to compete with Ableton live for live / performance use. I just want a piece of Studio recording software. If this doesn't get better i might stay on v4.6, knowing that this will eventually go out of support & development and so have to look elsewhere. SORT IT OUT PRESONUS
I am having no problems at all with either of those programs on my PC, windows 10, latest build, 64gb ram, 6 core AMD Ryzen. Guessing it’s your computer.
Running the same plugins on an i5 HP Elitebook with 6 gigs of ram using Win 10. No problems here either. Had more issues with 4.6 opening big projects. Nothing weird here.
I have 4.6. Now I am glad I dont have the money for it. I am still using the original Superior Drummer. I just didnt like the features in the upgrades.
I’ve had a bunch of problems with SoundToys plugins crashing both v5 and 5.01. I’ve also had other crashes where the cause is less clear, files that crash Studio One on open but subsequently open fine. They really need to fix the instability, otherwise I’ll have to use a different DAW: Ableton, Reaper and Logic don’t seem to have anything like the instability that S1 has.
Presonus has gotten horrible. Studio one keeps crashing. I updated my Atom and it died after the update. I read on the net others were having that issue with Atom. After going back and forth with support first they asked for pictures then a video of me plugging it in. After I sent several videos they claim they couldn’t open the vids. I’ve been gradually shifting to logic. I knew they were diminishing the value of the product when they went to subscription based plans.
Wow! Didn't know there were so many users who had issues. Mine is crazy! I have all of my drum kits stored on my Lacie external hard drive, which works fine and even shows in Studio One 5. I have no problem locating, dragging and dropping files from my external hard drive but for some weird reason when I search for files that are on my external in Browse, they don't show up. Ex: I have tons of drum kits, previously I could search "808" and they all would pop up, I could search "140" and all loops I had named with 140 in it would show up. Now they don't show up at all when I search for them. My external hard drive shows, I can locate the external and those files in S1 but I can't search for them anymore. It's too weird because it used to work and sped up my workflow tremulously. Now this sucks!
Hey, I had the same issues. I tried to find answers but never bothered to contact presonus and now I see you have or had the same issues as I did. I use Nexus 3 and this lags in 4.6 I decided to ditch v5 so I ended my sphere subscription. I thought it was my computer but an 8 core AMD system with 32gig of ram is fast and I can throw anything in it but Nexus 3 lags and Massive X. Oh well I have plenty of time in this lockdown lol.... alot of the times its the daw. it can be the company who design the plugins most dont update frequently or fix certain problems. so when s1 update you might have problems again with the same plugins
Switched to version 5 on my windows machine.. Couldn't even open a project without it crashing. Contacted support to no avail. Bought a 2020 Mac mini to replace my windows machine and runs "ok" but still get random cpu spikes and pops over thunderbolt with no plugins. Does seem to run sluggish and laggy compared to V 4.6. Hope they fix this soon.!!
I'm such a fool. I, too, updated to SO5 from SO4.6 and experienced a crap load of issues and errors, such as you... But I failed to relate it to SO5... That's clearly what is!!! Ima gonna go back to 4.6. I'm such a fool
LOL! I wished I would of read the comments before I bought my S5 upgrade. Oh well, at least I was able to get it for $15 less. Now I guess I’ll wait before I install it. 🤷🏾♂️
I had the same issue with play beat 2 plugin I thought it was the plugin because I had some what of an issue inside of fl studio and studio one 5 now tho watching this yes it was more evident more of a serious lang inside of studio one 5 when I was in fl studio I had to resize the window of play beat 2 then no issues that didn't work inside of studio one 5.0 I haven't update as of late to the newer version of studio one 5
Studio 5.1 PC I7 core intel - no problems with Waves plugins only problems is with Hornet Tape - which works fine on stereo tracks but dead on mono someone may know why - and Lindell channel X works (sound-wise) but does not update the lights on the preamp and compressor but laughingly if you turn the compressor and preamp to a high level and then click on the lights they will come on but only the ones you press which renders the plugin useless - obviously a graphic update issue. Did put a ticket in on these two but it seems Presonus don't care too much - if they actually looked at both of these plugins they would know what the problem was instead of chasing their tails and fobbing users off.
Could not of said it better myself. I have offered to be a part of their beta testing many, many times and they simply ignore my requests. I have more plugins than most due to what I do for a living and I could test these sorts of things out. I could have told them in 5 minutes that several plugins are causing issues and maybe they could have figured out a way to resolve it before the release.
Yikes, just yesterday I was considering updating from 4.6 (it runs percfectly on Windows 10) to 5. But I'm gonna have to give this one a hard pass, at least until they fix all this problems. I Really don't wanna waste time I could spend doing work and earning money. Glad I saw this video.
One thing I can tell you is if I leave Studio Now 5.0.0 and Komplete Kontrol running on my Mac it will eventually run out of memory doing absolutely nothing. Something has a memory leak. I just updated to 5.0.1 and I'll see what happens.
There was a change in the graphics handling on Mac. I expect this to be the cause for all this. And of course they are trying to solve everything asap, at least the things they can control.
what changed in my mac from version 4.6 to 5? Nothing. same computer and graphics card. Does not do this with any other dAW and I have them all so its the computer?
Remember that you can have both version on your machine and you can choose which one you want to run with each project. You dont have to commit 100% to either
I haven’t upgraded yet and will probably hold off for a bit. I’ve been using S1 4.6 and it’s been great. Only issue I have is when in the project page,if I go back to the mixer and change something and then update mastering file, sometimes the changes happen at different points in the song. I’ll lower the mix on the reverb on a snare for example and after updating the master the snare reverb will almost automate itself, getting more and less through the song. The workaround for me is deleting the original master and then adding the edited song to the project in its place. Not too big of a deal but a pain sometimes if I’ve faded in/out the beginning and ends. Has this ever happened to you?
Studio one has too many issues to depend on it for your main DAW. I cant seem to find out how to stop the faders from flying to unity when i select a channel.
There must be a setting for that. DAW's in general are not the issue....it;s the user who does not know how to use the DAW. I help students every day with "DAW" problems and 99.5% of the time it's user error
Currently having issues with studio one 5. My editing tools are not appearing, I can't click or drag audio clips in the session and I sant create a new track and I have literally just got studio one 5, upgraded studio one 3 artist.
as a Windows used who has just updated i have found that a few of my older plugins are blacklisted which have issues with Windows 10. Unfortunately S1 v5 now is Windows 10 only so those plugins won't work.Good advice to have S1 v4 installed.
@eacci What bugs are you talking about? I finally took the time to watch the video but couldn't see a single bug. Although an old MacOS version is used, AU plugins are used instead of the VST version etc.
Love version 5 but yeah have issues as well. For me, all waves plugs have a blank GUI now and can't be used. Melda Productions plug ins have the same issues for me now. I hope they'll get fixed soon. Still love Studio One though:)
I had to reinstall melodyne. Since update, cpu been through the roof... Whole bunch of freezes and my *lead-single-hit-record* file having trouble opening!!! I got a bunch of artists coming from out of town to finish this record. Ugh

It took me 10 minutes to open main ui of s1 v5. little lag when click something, or drag file or plugins. it might my pc's problems (old pc), windows updated. i dont know. i may lost some great updated from s1 5 but, 10 minutes ?make me fade up because i tried it several times to solved it. go back to v4.6.. it running smoothly just like before.
I have plugin screen hesitation and timeline cursor jumpiness for the first few seconds after opening Gullfoss then they go away. The strange thing is that it also causes my Faderport 16 to disconnect from S1. I have to manually reconnect it. Updating to the latest version of Gullfoss (1.7) seems to have corrected the issues.
Just got Studio One 5.01 and I'm having major problems syncing my Akai MPC One through MIDI clock!! Neither Akai or Presonus knows how!!! Any Suggestions???
I'm having issues in version 4.6 of Studio One. It's somewhat laggy at times and there seems to be an issue with loading times of some third-party plugins (oeksound, SoundToys). These plugins load fine in other DAWs (MPC Beats, FL20, Maschine), but in Studio One, it may take 2 minutes to load these plugins, and other times Studio One won't recognize them at all. 64gb of ram and a 6-core processor should be sufficient to run one plugin. Strange behavior.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy 1) I got an old machine (Macpro 3.1) Running windows 10, Why? because runs better than with el capitan (the last Os I can use) I was coming from cubase (20 years), then Studio One for about 3 years. I tried Reaper for a week, config my way (key maps etc) I discover that Reaper runs smoothly, and very important it distribute evenly for all cpu cores. That is very important since Daws tend to work on one or two cores.
I was looking into buying Studio One since the layout looked way nicer than Reaper but I'm thinking of just staying with it. Don't really have any issues with Reaper, but I do like the way it looks.
No it’s not totally bug free. On Mac , it still uses your main hardrive space while in use and makes that space available once you close The application . I used a clean install of Mojave and loaded everything from scratch. There are also other issues with preferences not always saving. This has been the worst Studio One release to date. And I’ve been with them from V1
I agree. I never give give you on this company. I love Presonus and own many products including Their ULT system. It feels as though they rushed this though. The show page also leaves a lot to be desired.
Superior Drummer 3 has had a GUI response lag in Studio One since its release. I have reported this to Toontrack and raised it in the S1 forum but to no avail. Makes editing in the SD3 midi grid almost impossible and is directly related to latency delay in S1 - sigh.....
When I first installed Studio One 5, it wouldn't even boot up. Presonus Support told me how to fix it and it runs now. I haven't done any serious mixing with it yet. I still have version 4.6 on my PC.

I found on google that you can open your Terminal-app and type exactly; defaults write com.fabfilter.Common GraphicsAcceleration 0 If you then put the figure "1" in the end of this command, you'll start the graphics acceleration for fabfilter again. I can't use the Tap2Find in EZ Drummer because it lags so badly. I have to open the standalone version of EZD to use it. This is still a problem in version 5.0.1.
your specs are great im almost with you i just have better graphics card for video games...i still have freeze problems,crash and random annoying pops....i fell like my monitors going to pop smh
Dave it's version 5.0.1. NOT 5.1. There are known issues with Sonarworks. The issue with Slate Trigger is definitely an issue with their plugin. Hopefully they will get that sorted out soon enough. It is possible they never tested it with Studio One 5.
Can't believe no one has mentioned the absolutely screwed chord track. It's broken man. When tracks are activated with "follow chords" they can no longer change tempo along with your tempo changes. Some tracks do and some tracks don't. Unless you turn off "follow chords" on the tracks, change the tempo and then turn them back on. It's ridiculous. Also, weird audio ends up leaking in from other tracks into tracks that have "follow chords" instantiated. It's a muddled mess.
Hmmm...weird issues. The only time I ran into things like that was when I first installed version 4 . I found that I had to set it to run studio one using my dedicated graphics card instead of integrated GPU (not sure if you have any dedicated graphics or not). Definitely not upgrading for a bit haha
The issues im having are that it fails to scan my ilok plugins and it doent see my Fabfilter plugins either. Its definitely an issue. This reminds me of the version 4 update! Presonus please fix this!
Some one my plugins or completely black I hear sound coming out but can't control anything because when I pull the vsts up there all blacked out I just brought a new pc from micro center here in Houston TX i7 processor and 32 gigs of ram on windows 10 home

Also there's issue with unwanted audio ducking when using Studio One 5 While playing a midi instrument and talking while in OBS and banana I have to go back to studio one 4

Costs only 60 dollar. With Reaper, even the Sky is no limit. Just my 2 cents, from a longtime Reaper user on Mac.

PreSonus is great...but they been having issues for a long time....I wish they would make sure the pass issues is fixed before releasing a new version...we support you PreSonus....but hear us out

I've had issues after joining PreSonus Sphere, with Studio One 5, one was with Melodyne 5 crashing studio one. Updated Melodyne,took care of that issue. The other was SD3 using 2 cores on my PC, putting it back to one core fixed that issue. I'm running fine now thank God, I was pulling what little hair I have out!

Hey Dave..after 20 years in the IT industry, prudence tells me to wait for at least 6 months before rushing into the latest version of anything, no matter what the new features are. There are always bugs. S1 4.6 just works. Clearly it works for you too. Sit with that until the wrinkles are ironed out. BTW, I'm a PC user
I wish I could but as an educator who does this for a living, most people want to see the latest and great version and so unfortunately I have to upgrade
You can run v5 and v4 side by side. No one is forcing you to commit.

Fair comment. However, if it's unusable, as you pointed out in your video, the upgrade is counterproductive. No point in having the latest version when you can't really use it
My amateur detective sense is wondering if there's an issue in the video rendering buffers...admittedly a DAW is extremely light on CPU and video cards since they are limited to 2D...but I can certainly see where this kind of issue can become extremely frustrating and interfere with your ability to use the software effectively...

I think that’s the answer. This lag is definitely about the GUI, in my opinion. That’s the reason I stopped using any fancy GUI third party plugins. Studio one has all the tools that you need built in. Check out the video about drum replacement using groove maps. It’s on presonus channel.
I personally tend to use only stock presonus plugins. The sound itself is mostly defined by our engineering skills, plugins are just helpers.
Totally agree Alexey but the stock plugins are lagging also and to be honest I can't live without my Abby Road.
I have never had a DAW crash so much. I had to export stems and blow the dust off Logic Pro X to get a very simple project with only a few tracks finished. There is so much that I love about Studio One but using it in a pro-environment with a client would be a no starter. Fortunately, I've been working alone for months, but I am now at my wit's end! 😢

I've stopped using v5 because I keep having random spikes in the volume. Also I keep hearing clicks and pops when cpu is very low and I have a powerful computer. Also dropouts in sound. Smh

Yeah.., I know what you mean, my brother. I LOVE Studio One.., and have been using it since version 1.0 and have NEVER had a problem with my plugs, until version 5. My Waves plugs GUI disappears. And, unfortunately, I have a whole lot of Waves plugs. I am sure that it will get fixed, at some point. They are really good about that. However, until they do, I haven't been able to use it when I go to studios outside of my own.

Exactly same problem here brother. Have Gold and each one does the same. Have you noticed you can still use presets from the drop down menu though? I miss my L2 :(
@@NumptyButtkick Yes, my brother. That has been my "work around". Also.., if I click on another plug.., like a native Presonus plug, and then click on a Waves plug, the GUI shows up.., but only if it's a VST.., not an AU. 🙏🏽
Sticking with 4.62. Everything I have works well and I've yet to crash it on my system. 5.0's features aren't something I'd use but who knows what they'll add in future updates.
Yeah, Presonus support is very bad right now. They should have asked what type of VSTi you're running in the first place. I would check to see if the issue changes if you use 3.0 or 2.4 VSTs of the same plugins. Presonus needs to step up and get these bugs out, can't release something this buggy in 2020.
I have had nothing but good support from them but I totally understand your frustration. Dont worry, I am going to stay on this issue until the bus are worked out. Trust me, Presonus watches my videos
@Home Recording Made Easy I thanks for you staying on the issue. I 100% understand the support team at Presonus don't create these issues, so i shouldn't take it out on them. I just think they shouldn't use auto blame on the end user just by default.
My first run in with Presonus's support left me thinking i wasted my time even reporting it. My first message to Presonus support was stating that my audio would pop and/or click with high latency. I also stated I myself don't use ASIO, I use Windows audio. So they came back and just said, it was my settings and i should install ASIO4ALL. I know what i'm doing, i kept telling them, nope, i was wrong over and over.
I also kept saying that i have had no issues running my setup in Studio One 4 the same 100% way, but the end reply was i was wrong. Like they just didn't listen and/ or even want to. It took like 4 messages for them to say, okay we'll look into the issue.
So that's kind of way i got kind of mad in my first comment. When you stated that support just said it was the plugin company and not their software i lost it.
I am using Studio One 5 with the latest update, working on finishing up my first song, only issue I have had is with Waves, which I fixed by reinstalling and reactivating in Waves Central, I have no issues with Sonarworks or fabfilter. Windows 10, Ryzen 9 (still have Studio One 4 but have not opened it since installing 5)

I haven't been able to use Studio One for about six months now. Spontaneous latency and lag just appeared at different times across multiple audio interfaces exactly like is happening here it effected amplitube one day then something else the next. Went back and forth with support at Presonus but they couldn't work it out. Didn't change anything didn't install anything new it just hits randomly. It's not the plugins its Studio One and they have known about this issue for a while just ask Kyle at Presonus support.

Had some horrible issues with Sonarworks causing latency and audio glitches ( a known problem that Sonarworks apparently are still unable to fix and not sure how to since version 4.1) and decided after going round in circles with Presonus support that I'd wipe my HD and install a fresh OS and just my basic most used plugs to see if there were still issues...... low and behold the same issues are there. I'm also getting crashes when doing anything random.. opening a plugin, closing a window, etc... maybe 4/5 a day.
Support told me that the following plugins could be causing it.... Omnisphere, Melodyne, Autotune, Sonarworks.. Here's the kicker.. I created an EXACT replica session in Logic and was able to work on it flawlessly for hours without it glitching or crashing. If they don't get this fixed within the next update or so I'm heading back to Logic. A lot of people rely on DAW's to make their living.. we aren't all college dudes noodling with Ampire and the new show page.. We need stability FFS.
Yes. I do this for a living and I need something that is rock solid. I dont have the time to play "I.T." guy. Logic Pro is something I have not spent a lot of time with but because Apple created both the hardware and software I would assume it would be very solid and stable.

PreSonus want to blame every other plugin company rather than themselves.. who on gods green earth ONLY uses PreSonus native plugins and nothing else!?? We are basically their beta testers for updates. It’s getting old at this point.
I thought I was the only one experiencing these problems with S1v5. My T-racks plugins doing that same thing. I am using Windows. I decided yesterday to bounce stems and mix in S1v4 for now.

PreSonus feels like it is transitioning from Abbey Road Studios itself into the Abbey Road online shop. It's still beautiful software, but it seems more calculated and less spirited. They've got their own shop of plugins you can purchase from right there inside the convenience of your own DAW, and guess what? 3rd-party plugins crash left and right. Even their website stopped being compatible with Safari when 5 was released and it was still f'ed up last time I checked. I sent them screenshots just days after 5's release and never got a response. Had to download Google just to get my free upgrade to 5. Last time I checked my PreSonus user area, I needed Safari to see my old stuff and Chrome to see version 5. I've bought tons of products from other companies and that has never happened before! But those kinds of problems have usually happened with companies that were on their way out. Sloppy companies. Did PreSonus get ripped off by someone? Did they overreach? Did they change owners or something? I hope the update rocks. Otherwise, something is amiss.
I hear your frustration. I can tell you they are the same company owned by the same people and generally they are very good and up to this point with Studio One, at least for me all the updates have always been great. Not sure what is happening with version 5 but I do get a little nervous when more than one person who works for the company instantly say "it's not them but someone else". That makes me think a bit different but I am still a huge supporter of them at least for now :)

And then I got something from "The Folks @PreSonus" in my email this morning full of stuff to buy and I realize: they never notified me directly about the new upgrade. I found out about it when I saw the thumbnail for this video. You'd think they could at least run a banner on the start page in S1. But that's full of products too. I think the marketing section has taken over the studio.
Dave, I have a late 2015 iMac, 4GHz CPU, 24GB RAM and still running Mojave with Studio One Pro v5.0.1. I use Trigger all the time with no problems whatsoever. No window lag, no delay in triggering. Also have SD3, Radiator, FabFilter and the Slate stuff and none of them are having the problems you are having. I was having problems with CPU temperature thanks to the heatwave we're having in the UK but setting the fan to auto sorted that out. It seems weird that you're having problems in v5 but not v4.6. Perhaps there is different running process that is causing the problems. Check the activity monitor. Also if you right click on 'Get Info' you can set all files of the same type to any program you wish.
Also use Sonarworks all the time too on the listen bus with no lag.

Anyone else having problems with Midi tracks? Some tracks are not playing back, I have to solo them, then they work again.

Though I'm on a PC and haven't had any of the problems you've experienced, you're doing a good service for Mac users (and the GUI issues I've read largely seem to be Mac-related; hopefully it all gets fixed). One thing about the video, at about @7:35 -- Sonarworks is better put on the Listen bus.as a default -- you no longer need to worry about it accidentally being included in a mixdown.
right but the listen bus was not a part of version 4.6 so I am just a custom to putting in on the master bus.
The only thing I have some issues with tight now in studio one 5.0.1 is the arpeggiator.I cleaned my harddrive and reinstall my iMac and studio one 5.0.1. But the issues are still the same. Tried with Both 3rd part vst and with Presence. And the issues are the same as before.

I use Windows and had similar problems with screen lag and very slow song saves. The slow saves could take minutes instead of seconds. All my problems were eliminated by disabling the high performance graphics card in my Dell notebook. Then, resetting Windows to allow S1 to use the GPU caused the problem to return. So at least for my situation I am certain that the high performance GPU is a problem for S1.

There's no way i'm upgrading until this is all sorted. my main worry for presonus is that they are trying to do too much with S1. They're now trying to compete with Ableton live for live / performance use. I just want a piece of Studio recording software. If this doesn't get better i might stay on v4.6, knowing that this will eventually go out of support & development and so have to look elsewhere. SORT IT OUT PRESONUS

Running the same plugins on an i5 HP Elitebook with 6 gigs of ram using Win 10. No problems here either. Had more issues with 4.6 opening big projects. Nothing weird here.

I’ve had a bunch of problems with SoundToys plugins crashing both v5 and 5.01. I’ve also had other crashes where the cause is less clear, files that crash Studio One on open but subsequently open fine.
They really need to fix the instability, otherwise I’ll have to use a different DAW: Ableton, Reaper and Logic don’t seem to have anything like the instability that S1 has.

Presonus has gotten horrible. Studio one keeps crashing. I updated my Atom and it died after the update. I read on the net others were having that issue with Atom. After going back and forth with support first they asked for pictures then a video of me plugging it in. After I sent several videos they claim they couldn’t open the vids. I’ve been gradually shifting to logic. I knew they were diminishing the value of the product when they went to subscription based plans.
Sorry you are having issues. You are not the first one to say they are moving to Logic because of these issues with S1 v 5.
Wow! Didn't know there were so many users who had issues. Mine is crazy! I have all of my drum kits stored on my Lacie external hard drive, which works fine and even shows in Studio One 5. I have no problem locating, dragging and dropping files from my external hard drive but for some weird reason when I search for files that are on my external in Browse, they don't show up. Ex: I have tons of drum kits, previously I could search "808" and they all would pop up, I could search "140" and all loops I had named with 140 in it would show up. Now they don't show up at all when I search for them. My external hard drive shows, I can locate the external and those files in S1 but I can't search for them anymore. It's too weird because it used to work and sped up my workflow tremulously. Now this sucks!
Make sure you have the latest update installed. This video is several months old and there have been some bug fixes

Trigger 2 is working as expected on my iMac. But I did experience a lot of crashes with 5.0. Let’s see if 5.1 is any better.

Hey, I had the same issues. I tried to find answers but never bothered to contact presonus and now I see you have or had the same issues as I did. I use Nexus 3 and this lags in 4.6 I decided to ditch v5 so I ended my sphere subscription. I thought it was my computer but an 8 core AMD system with 32gig of ram is fast and I can throw anything in it but Nexus 3 lags and Massive X. Oh well I have plenty of time in this lockdown lol.... alot of the times its the daw. it can be the company who design the plugins most dont update frequently or fix certain problems. so when s1 update you might have problems again with the same plugins

Switched to version 5 on my windows machine.. Couldn't even open a project without it crashing. Contacted support to no avail. Bought a 2020 Mac mini to replace my windows machine and runs "ok" but still get random cpu spikes and pops over thunderbolt with no plugins. Does seem to run sluggish and laggy compared to V 4.6. Hope they fix this soon.!!

I had the same issue with play beat 2 plugin I thought it was the plugin because I had some what of an issue inside of fl studio and studio one 5 now tho watching this yes it was more evident more of a serious lang inside of studio one 5 when I was in fl studio I had to resize the window of play beat 2 then no issues that didn't work inside of studio one 5.0 I haven't update as of late to the newer version of studio one 5

Studio 5.1 PC I7 core intel - no problems with Waves plugins only problems is with Hornet Tape - which works fine on stereo tracks but dead on mono someone may know why - and Lindell channel X works (sound-wise) but does not update the lights on the preamp and compressor but laughingly if you turn the compressor and preamp to a high level and then click on the lights they will come on but only the ones you press which renders the plugin useless - obviously a graphic update issue. Did put a ticket in on these two but it seems Presonus don't care too much - if they actually looked at both of these plugins they would know what the problem was instead of chasing their tails and fobbing users off.
Could not of said it better myself. I have offered to be a part of their beta testing many, many times and they simply ignore my requests. I have more plugins than most due to what I do for a living and I could test these sorts of things out. I could have told them in 5 minutes that several plugins are causing issues and maybe they could have figured out a way to resolve it before the release.
Yikes, just yesterday I was considering updating from 4.6 (it runs percfectly on Windows 10) to 5. But I'm gonna have to give this one a hard pass, at least until they fix all this problems. I Really don't wanna waste time I could spend doing work and earning money. Glad I saw this video.

4.6 is better. More stable
One thing I can tell you is if I leave Studio Now 5.0.0 and Komplete Kontrol running on my Mac it will eventually run out of memory doing absolutely nothing. Something has a memory leak. I just updated to 5.0.1 and I'll see what happens.

There was a change in the graphics handling on Mac. I expect this to be the cause for all this. And of course they are trying to solve everything asap, at least the things they can control.
what changed in my mac from version 4.6 to 5? Nothing. same computer and graphics card. Does not do this with any other dAW and I have them all so its the computer?

Remember that you can have both version on your machine and you can choose which one you want to run with each project. You dont have to commit 100% to either
I haven’t upgraded yet and will probably hold off for a bit. I’ve been using S1 4.6 and it’s been great. Only issue I have is when in the project page,if I go back to the mixer and change something and then update mastering file, sometimes the changes happen at different points in the song. I’ll lower the mix on the reverb on a snare for example and after updating the master the snare reverb will almost automate itself, getting more and less through the song. The workaround for me is deleting the original master and then adding the edited song to the project in its place. Not too big of a deal but a pain sometimes if I’ve faded in/out the beginning and ends. Has this ever happened to you?

Studio one has too many issues to depend on it for your main DAW. I cant seem to find out how to stop the faders from flying to unity when i select a channel.
There must be a setting for that. DAW's in general are not the issue....it;s the user who does not know how to use the DAW. I help students every day with "DAW" problems and 99.5% of the time it's user error
Currently having issues with studio one 5. My editing tools are not appearing, I can't click or drag audio clips in the session and I sant create a new track and I have literally just got studio one 5, upgraded studio one 3 artist.

as a Windows used who has just updated i have found that a few of my older plugins are blacklisted which have issues with Windows 10. Unfortunately S1 v5 now is Windows 10 only so those plugins won't work.Good advice to have S1 v4 installed.

@eacci What bugs are you talking about? I finally took the time to watch the video but couldn't see a single bug. Although an old MacOS version is used, AU plugins are used instead of the VST version etc.
Love version 5 but yeah have issues as well. For me, all waves plugs have a blank GUI now and can't be used. Melda Productions plug ins have the same issues for me now. I hope they'll get fixed soon. Still love Studio One though:)

I had to reinstall melodyne. Since update, cpu been through the roof... Whole bunch of freezes and my *lead-single-hit-record* file having trouble opening!!! I got a bunch of artists coming from out of town to finish this record. Ugh

It took me 10 minutes to open main ui of s1 v5. little lag when click something, or drag file or plugins. it might my pc's problems (old pc), windows updated. i dont know. i may lost some great updated from s1 5 but, 10 minutes ?make me fade up because i tried it several times to solved it. go back to v4.6.. it running smoothly just like before.

I have plugin screen hesitation and timeline cursor jumpiness for the first few seconds after opening Gullfoss then they go away. The strange thing is that it also causes my Faderport 16 to disconnect from S1. I have to manually reconnect it. Updating to the latest version of Gullfoss (1.7) seems to have corrected the issues.

I'm having issues in version 4.6 of Studio One. It's somewhat laggy at times and there seems to be an issue with loading times of some third-party plugins (oeksound, SoundToys). These plugins load fine in other DAWs (MPC Beats, FL20, Maschine), but in Studio One, it may take 2 minutes to load these plugins, and other times Studio One won't recognize them at all. 64gb of ram and a 6-core processor should be sufficient to run one plugin. Strange behavior.

it happened to me with 4.61, I thought it was my Mac pro 3.1. So I tryed Reaper and... Bye Bye Studio One.

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy 1) I got an old machine (Macpro 3.1) Running windows 10, Why? because runs better than with el capitan (the last Os I can use) I was coming from cubase (20 years), then Studio One for about 3 years. I tried Reaper for a week, config my way (key maps etc) I discover that Reaper runs smoothly, and very important it distribute evenly for all cpu cores. That is very important since Daws tend to work on one or two cores.
I was looking into buying Studio One since the layout looked way nicer than Reaper but I'm thinking of just staying with it. Don't really have any issues with Reaper, but I do like the way it looks.
No it’s not totally bug free.
On Mac , it still uses your main hardrive space while in use and makes that space available once you close The application .
I used a clean install of Mojave and loaded everything from scratch.
There are also other issues with preferences not always saving. This has been the worst Studio One release to date. And I’ve been with them from V1
I cant say I disagree with you but let's not give up on Presonus yet. They will get this right....hopefully :)
I agree. I never give give you on this company. I love Presonus and own many products including Their ULT system. It feels as though they rushed this though. The show page also leaves a lot to be desired.
Superior Drummer 3 has had a GUI response lag in Studio One since its release. I have reported this to Toontrack and raised it in the S1 forum but to no avail. Makes editing in the SD3 midi grid almost impossible and is directly related to latency delay in S1 - sigh.....
Funny, in version 4.6 I have not had those issues with SD3. It always seems to run smoothly for me
When I first installed Studio One 5, it wouldn't even boot up. Presonus Support told me how to fix it and it runs now. I haven't done any serious mixing with it yet. I still have version 4.6 on my PC.

I have the same problem with the Fabfilter plugins. Problem with Pro Q3 where solved via graphical card terminal command.

@@WhereAreWe7 I have Mac OS X High Sierra 10.13.6. I found on google that you can open your Terminal-app and type exactly; defaults write com.fabfilter.Common GraphicsAcceleration 0
If you then put the figure "1" in the end of this command, you'll start the graphics acceleration for fabfilter again. It now works for me.

I can't use the Tap2Find in EZ Drummer because it lags so badly. I have to open the standalone version of EZD to use it. This is still a problem in version 5.0.1.

There are known issues with Sonarworks. The issue with Slate Trigger is definitely an issue with their plugin. Hopefully they will get that sorted out soon enough. It is possible they never tested it with Studio One 5.
its not just Slate.....read the comments. Other user including Windows users. FabFilter is also a reported problems. .
Can't believe no one has mentioned the absolutely screwed chord track. It's broken man. When tracks are activated with "follow chords" they can no longer change tempo along with your tempo changes. Some tracks do and some tracks don't. Unless you turn off "follow chords" on the tracks, change the tempo and then turn them back on. It's ridiculous. Also, weird audio ends up leaking in from other tracks into tracks that have "follow chords" instantiated. It's a muddled mess.

Hmmm...weird issues. The only time I ran into things like that was when I first installed version 4 . I found that I had to set it to run studio one using my dedicated graphics card instead of integrated GPU (not sure if you have any dedicated graphics or not). Definitely not upgrading for a bit haha

The issues im having are that it fails to scan my ilok plugins and it doent see my Fabfilter plugins either. Its definitely an issue. This reminds me of the version 4 update! Presonus please fix this!

Some one my plugins or completely black I hear sound coming out but can't control anything because when I pull the vsts up there all blacked out I just brought a new pc from micro center here in Houston TX i7 processor and 32 gigs of ram on windows 10 home

Is there a difference between AU and VST maybe? In 4.6 I had issues with sometimes 'ticks' when using Kontakt VST but none of those using AU Kontakt.

Cubase is a super stable DAW in my experience and very S1 "like"
So di i my studio one 5 can't use it because of plugin problems not good
