Being kind to our secretary/office manager at work has resulted in much happier work days. She's the eyes and ears of the company and will spill juicy work details if I help her stock the taller cabinet shelves she can't reach. It's an odd friendship but it works lol Edit: same thing with washing office dishes/messes that aren't necessarily yours. Resist the urge to leave a nasty note and just wipe up.
Let brushes, and sponges soak for 30mins- 1 hour in some degreaser and then rinse them off. Makes them look like new afterwards. Legit impressed my boss with this one at work when she was going to throw out this groady looking scrub brush when the new one came in. I asked her if there would be any harm in trying my suggestion, shrugged and said go for it. Thought I had bought one and replaced it lol. Work as a dishwasher in fast food place as well so our stuff gets uber nasty. Suggest only about a 1/2 - 1 inch of degreaser in the bottom of a container, and fill the rest of the way with hot water.
When you wash your dishes or just something that has been dirtied, wash it with water while shaking it gently, it helps to slip away the stucking substances easier
I always wondered what those Redditors who automated their jobs did. also, I managed to semi-automate a part of my job (converting Excel table to Indesign, and breaking a table so each square is its own text frame), it took a bit of googling and problem-solving outside work but I managed it, what I used to copy and paste by hand is now automatic and amount of mistakes is minimal, and what took 10 hours now takes 3
12:58 I do this constantly. Whenever my sister and I argue about something objective, or my mom thinks she recognizes an actor from somewhere, I always pull out my phone to Google it. Resolved many arguments and saved my mom from spending a long time thinking about something this way.
Scraping your fingertips using a spoon with soap and water between fingerprint ridges reduces the smell of garlic on your hands. It’s not 100% effective, but reduces the smell when combined with brushing under fingernails. Trimming fingernails as short as possible also helps. I learned this at an Italian restaurant that I worked at.
@seansullivan7928 My boss was a penny pincher, though. In fact, were told to charge people if they wanted any in their ice water so we never used them for that.
damn ya'll. As an Executive Assistant for the last 15+ years I felt personally attacked by that *22:00* mark. It was like a life wake up call! I think its time to change careers
If you have a problem budgeting or saving automate your paycheck. I have my savings automatically withdrawn on my paydays and the same with my investments. You can even get a second checking account specifically for bills like rent and move a portion of each check to that account and pay bills out of that. Anything left over you are in the clear to spend on anything from fun to unnecessary eating out or games. I do this for my fiancée as well and she loves it. You get all the responsibility out the way and don't have to feel a single bit of guilt for spending everything that's left. It's living paycheck to paycheck the responsible way
@LiquidMarvel i could see how through unfortunate circumstances that could happen, but as an adult you're kind of silly if you get yourself in that situation and most people have some disposable income in one place or another, I've never met someone who couldn't realistically cut cost in some area unless they previously chose to get reoccurring debt payments that put them into a 0 disposable income situation. Like hours getting cut at work boom i understand that, but you telling me you had an income then chose to get into a net zero or net negative situation? No living with roommates or cutting back expenses?
I'll say that these are pieces of advice directed toward neurotypical folks. Mileage WILL vary with people like you and me. I find that a lot of my wasted time is done with too much rather than too little planning, as I'm on the Asperger's side of the autism spectrum. Find how you work best and do that. If others' advice is unhelpful, it's unhelpful. But don't be against trying things out. Good luck, and I hope you find success in the future :)

That assumes your wage covers your outgoings and there is money left over.

this whole thread is the antithesis to how I do things (severe ADHD) and now I wanna just lay down and sleep forever
