The therapy cat one reminded me very much of my own cat.
I have sensory overload and mental breakdowns, which cause me to go into a panic and have an intense urge to hurt myself. Whenever I was panicking, or trying to scratch up my arms or face, my cat would run in and cry at me and pull my arms to try and get me to stop. Usually it works, and helps me take my attention off of the thought. But a couple weeks ago when I had an attack, he got frustrated with me because I wasn't listening, and bit my arm. I got pretty upset about it, but I ceased from hurting myself, and managed to calm down afterwards.
Aside from preventing me from harm, he will also try to comfort me when I'm upset or crying. If he hears me getting upset, he'll run up to me and meow and try to poke my face or lay next to me.
For being such a brat, he's truly like a guardian to me, and he's always been there to make sure I'm safe from myself.

When looking at relatable memes, I get that same warm and happy feeling that I also get when I talk about stuff to others irl or in online chats, and they relate. "They can what?" at the end was great. It's also true, there are species of spiders that use web-paragliders to travel by wind. It used to be believed that those white strands floating around every late summer were old women's hairs. Nope, those are flying spiders.
    More good facts:
-what you did in school almost entirely doesn't matter. May sound depressing, but it also means whatever you did wrong back then will almost certainly not haunt your adult life
-many more young people every year reject smoking and similar drugs, opting for healthier lifestyles
-religious nutcases, extremist left/rightwingers and other ideologes may seem to be gaining more influence and the world may seem to become more dangerous, but the reality is: crime as a thing is going down nearly everywhere, you just might not notice because the news profit from negative messages more than positive ones
--there are also more volunteers and private crime fighters; look up Jim Browning, that guy is basicly a RL internet Batman fighting scammers not just passively but actively and helping the police, so if he can thag means others can too

The thing about no one remembering your cringey moments is that this logic gets applied to the moments you were emotionally hurt as well. It's not comforting to know that not only did someone think you weren't deserving of basic human respect, they don't think what they did was damaging enough or that you are worth apologizing for you. Things that if someone else did to them, they would take great offense, but it's all in the past because they did it to you. Just feels like doubling down on the disrespect.

    • @Maniacman2030
      @Maniacman2030 3 года назад +13

Everything has pros and a cons. It's the same for everything that exists and nothing can ever be perfect. Human Rights for instance. Free Speech means you can speak your mind, but at the same time, it also allows for opinions and ideas that might otherwise be offensive to others. "Hate Speech" laws are the epitome of evil and control, as it only enforces the beliefs of one group and controls it for everyone else. It's not the government's place to decide what people should think.
Just the Bill of Rights in general, at this point. Every amendment has its own pros and cons. Ownership of self defense arms will always result in someone using those to commit evil against their fellow humans. What does banning or limiting them do aside from harm those who wouldn't have committed evil anyway? Anyway, I think you get the point. There's always a negative to everything when you really think about it.

The thing is to forgive yourself. Which hardly ever seems to happen. And is kinda laughed at.
Like its more important others to forgive you. Yea either say sorry if you are wrong, but dont expect forgiveness. And dont dwell on others wronging you, because they dont care anyway.
And its hard. Its like a sharp pain that turns into a dull ache over months or years. Situations are also totally random. People say let it go if a random person says something offensive. Maybe you can get over it in minutes, or days.

Yes. I had a girl who sided with the bullies but only once tried to instigate an insult herself (and sounded like a complete idiot, though the rest agreed with her) who was beside herself when we met a few years after and was desperate to apologize and atone for what she did. I recognized even at the time that she only wanted to fit in and have friends so followed the lead from the rest of the class. Then there's the boy who started the entire bullying and was the most brutal and prolific of them, the only one who ever made it physical (hand to hand, throwing stuff or wasps doesn't count). After he saw me years later he pretended he didn't know me. But I know he did because I saw him a few more times after that and one time I greeted him by name and he asked after my brothers. My brothers never attended that school (homeschooled), very few people or classmates even knew or remebered that I had siblings, and only a handful ever met them, but this boy lived in the neighbourhood, my only boon was that he avoided our street for the more "getto" ones a few blocks over, even though he knew where I lived. He would still harrass me and insult me if he saw me alone walking the streets though.
So I believe that as you said, in the girl's case, that was one of her cringy, awful moments, but for the boy, even though his personality had changed 180° since we were in school together, he didn't seem to acknowledge his actions at all.

Also that from a psychological perspective, the reason we cringe - i.e. recognise wrong things or inappropriate things in our past behaviour - is because we've grown and learnt from that. Do we ever cringe at our actions we're most proud of? No. So when you suddenly cringe at something you did way back, embrace the cringe, tell yourself you're cringing because you wouldn't repeat that mistake again and you've learnt from it, and because you've learnt from it, you probably don't have to undergo a similar mortifying experience again.

I for one definitely remember other people doing embarrassing things. But I don't judge them for it and wouldn't ever bring it up unless I knew they'd think it funny. It's not true that people don't remember you doing embarrassing things. But it is true that it feels way worse for you than the others who experienced it with you. Most likely it's a case of secondhand embarrassment and a sense of being glad it wasn't them that did it. But there is likely a plethora of things that you personally experienced to be awkward or embarrassing that other people genuinely don't notice or don't even register that that was something that embarrassed you. I'm that way sometimes - when people drop things, I really don't give a damn because I also drop things. But if it's a birthday cake for instance and someone slips and falls in it, well, I'll remember that til the day I die. Fondly.

According to science or religion, you won't truly die. The religion part is obvious because of the fact that you might go to heaven or something, but the science explanation says that since the universe will die and be reborn infinitely, that means that literally anything and everything will happen. You will someday wake up in a better place with all your memories. The chances of that happening are extremely low, but not zero. Not only that, but consciousness most likely has something to do with stuff at the atomic level, so that means we can basically rebuild your consciousness from your own atoms even if it is burnt to ash because of the laws of thermodynamics. The explanation is very long so i will keep it at that.

Octopi are often friendly with divers. I saw a video once that showed a stranded octopus being saved by someone, the octopus then appeared to “thank” its rescuer with an ink squirt. There is also a species of goby that teams up with a kind of burrowing shrimp for survival. The shrimp digs a home for the two of them, and the goby returns the favor by alerting the shrimp to predators such as big fish. The goby will also guide the shrimp back to the burrow (the shrimp has poor eyesight) and will help the shrimp find food.

For example, if one maple tree is being attacked by aphids, the tree will send out electrical messages to nearby maple trees, giving them time to prepare for an aphid attack.

I had two platys (a kind of small fish commonly found at pet stores) that would always hang out together, often ignoring the other residents of my 30 gallon tank, including another platy. When they would accidentally get separated, they would look for each other, find their partner, and resume swimming around together. Sadly, this came to an end when my bright orange platy developed a severe case of bloat( a condition caused by gas buildup in the gut) and was moved to a small separate tank for treatment with epsom salt ( a kind of salt that usually functions as a kind of bath salt for humans, but can be used to treat certain conditions in fish) Unfortunately, the orange platy did not survive the treatment, and was disposed of after I conducted an autopsy on her. (I got the answers on what caused her death, but that’s a separate story.) Her buddy must have spent a few days looking for her friend, wondering “ Where is my girlfriend, where did she get taken to, I miss her “ Thankfully, this platy, also female, did eventually pair up with the other surviving platy in the tank. It’s like a classic Disney movie.

Elephants have been documented mourning the loss of herd members and humans they had close bonds with on numerous occasions. When Lawrence B Anthony (I hope I spelled that correctly) aka The Elephant Whisperer, died in 2012, the herd of elephants he saved came to his house for several years on the anniversary of his death (around March 2nd) The elephants sometimes travelled for several hours to get there. Some elephants hadn’t been at the house in years. Also, elephants will have a celebration of sorts when a calf is born. The herd will gather around the calf and trumpet loudly while also covering the newborn elephant with dirt. This is to protect the calf’s sensitive skin from the sun. Elephants will sometimes adopt orphaned elephant calves too. Elephants are far smarter than some people give them credit for.
