I followed this video to a T, perfectly, even used a 2Tb Firecuda SSHD and windows 7. Everything went smoothly except when it came to the offline update. I kept getting E101 and E106. Thankfully I had the original working hard drive so I copied EVERYTHING in the 'System Update" folder from the old HDD and pasted into the new Firecuda SSHD. Plugged the new SSHD back into the XboxOne S and it worked! Straight to the controller "Press A" screen. Did some tests, and checked the game and app folder and it reads the 2Tb. I hope this helps those who had this problem. Please like so others can see this.

As of 11/7/18 it's still working. Before you run the script, make sure you have Controlled Folder Access under Ransomware in Windows Defender *DISABLED* otherwise the script won't work. It's been 2 days and I've had no issues with the 1TB Samsung SSD I've installed in my XB1X. Games load super fast and the Xbox as a whole seems faster.
Update: just put an SSD in my OG Xbox One on 11/11/17 and it worked perfectly. Although the boot animation didn't play even with the DAT file that XfiX provided installed. I got it back by copying the boot animation from the old HDD, and now everything works fine.
The real test I'm waiting for is to see if the Xbox takes a system update from the dashboard.
Update: there was a system update on 11/14/18 and it took perfectly on both consoles from the dashboard. Got really nervous every time it slowed down, but it went by flawlessly.
Update: On 11/29/18 another system update was available. Once again it took perfectly fine on both Xbox's. I'm fairly confident now that all system updates will take on the new SSD.
UPDATE: 12/14/18 another system update was available and yet again it has taken perfectly fine on both consoles.
This will probably be my last update unless something happens. If anyone has any questions before they download the script I will try to answer them the best I can.

    Confirmed still working on 10/21/2020!
Thank you so much man. I am seriously so grateful for all of your hard work and your research and you taking the time to make the script and the videos and everything.
My hard drive failure turned into an upgrade to an SSD thanks to your script and your repair guide. Saved me from buying the Xbox Series X for a while, and saved me from paying about $100 more for a repair through Microsoft. Thanks to you I just had to pay about $82 total for a 500GB SSD and an external HDD case + cable for formatting the SSD to work with my Xbox One S.
For anyone getting E101 or E106 after following the steps on the computer and trying to update, like I was the first time around, what worked for me was wiping my SSD and starting over from the beginning with running the script, and also wiping my flash drive and redownloading OSU1, and copying that onto my flash drive again. After I did that, I was able to get the offline update to work on attempt #2. I hope this helps someone!
Also make sure you compare the operating system version number on the troubleshooting screen on the Xbox One (the last part of it after xbox_dev_) to the current operating system version number on Microsoft’s website. The operating system version number on your Xbox One needs to be the same as the one on Microsoft’s website or older than it in order for the offline update to work.

My console was becoming really slow and I was getting the e105 error occasionally. Factory resetting the HDD seemed to fix the issue for a few days. But the issue continued .
I read many posts on the e105 error , some were saying its a HDD error . Others were saying its other hardware.
I took the risk and bought a 2tb firecuda sshd for 60$ on Amazon.

I stopped this process since it only works if the Xbox is already at the version the OSU1 files provide.
If the Xbox NAND is below or beyond the OSU1 copied to "System Update" then you'll need to do an offline update from the USB flash drive anyway.
In other words, offline updates using OSU1 from a flash drive will have a higher percentage of success.

For anyone else who had a similar experience to me, or if this is me in the future looking back in this video for help, as of 9/20/2021, my xbox one x did not have to wait on the first "reset console" part of the troubleshooting. When i first powered my console up with a new drive in, and I pressed "reset console" it beeped and immediately restarted. After that I used the OSU1 thumb drive and everything worked fine. If you're someone like me and like to follow directions to a T, especially when it comes to tutorials like this, and you come to a point where you press "reset console" and you dont have to count to 60 and hard restart, dont worry, when your console comes back on a second time after hitting reset, just plug in your thumb drive and start the OSU1 offline update and youll be good.

Before exposing my own issue, I'll try to help with the ones I managed to solve :
-I got the "No USB/SATA drives" line and fixed it by changing my windows display language to English (US) (needs a reboot)
-I also got the "Missing drive X:" error and fixed it by manually assigning the right letters to the partitions (watch the video to know which is which) and running the script again
Now my issue is, when I try to launch the offline update with the USB drive, the update UI shows for one frame then I get "Something went wrong" and a E101 error.
I tried downloading OSU1 again, checked that the latest update is newer than the one installed on the NAND, tried with OSU2, tried the automatic update by holding Bind and Eject.
    Exact same result each time.
Something else that seems weird to me, whenever I do this and plug the hard drive back onto my computer, it shows up as a 16TB drive with no partitions, and have to run the script again to get them back.

Ran this script and installed on 11-24-18. I installed a Samsung Evo 860 1tb in my One X. I followed your guide exactly and everything works great. I am experiencing 30 second faster boot times on Eco mode, and 30 second faster map load times on Ark Survival Evolved. Ark is the biggest game I play and it's very resource intensive. I was mildly disappointed when I got the X; when hosting my own server for just a friend and I, it would crash the game a few times over a 5 hour period. It crashed once over 8 hours last night. Much better, the graphics also render faster and the game is smoother in general.
The only issue I encountered was that the bootanimation did not take, even placing the correct Systemupdate\A folder. One commenter recently said the same thing, but I can wait until the next console update to get it back. The file must be outdated. Got her all patched up and it works. Your guide is stellar and well done. Thanks a million!

If you'd like to get your boot animation back just copy it from the original HDD. I did that for my OG Xbox 1 and it worked.
Also I've seen comments claiming that a system update on an Xbox one without the boot animation either didn't put the animation back or it gave them an error when verifying or applying the update. Don't know if there's any truth to this but it's something I wouldn't risk.
P.S. I put the same SSD in my Xbox One X and OG Xbox. I saw you said the SSD was in Eco mode. My question is can you use Samsung Magician to set the SSD to maximum performance before putting it in the console? I would've liked to do this but I didn't want to chance it not working since it's quite expensive.

    • @whatsupinthehood5
      @whatsupinthehood5 5 лет назад

The Equalizer74 Same here I didn't want to risk that. I bought the Startech cord and like others on Amazon experienced, Magician wouldn't pick my drive up, even before partitioning. So even if I wanted to put it in rapid mode I couldn't. I'm not so much worried about the boot animation, commenter below us said he didn't use them in 2 different boxes and the updates took fine.
By eco mode I meant the console booting.

My Xbox one x has no error codes but it does sound like my hard drive is pooched as it makes a grinding noise at startup and takes about 20 seconds for the home page to load. It also just shuts down completely in a game or would freeze at start menu. Do you think this is a hard drive problem or maybe something else?

I was gonna replace the hard drive thinking mine was damaged and causing the errors, but I deleted all the partitions from the Xboxone S 1TB HD using Windows. Joe Walker not really. Once I cloned OEM drive to a SSD, I didn't want to leave any spare space. 1. Open the Disk Management in windows

Just used this to replace a failing 1TB drive in my XBox One X with the hybrid 2TB Seagate mentioned here. I had issues with the zip initially as my protection software on two different machines flagged it as containing a trojan. Then after unzipping and running the batch it was interrupted for every call to the bundled exes and failed to complete properly until I got them all whitelisted. After that I got the "can't find the X: drive" mentioned here so ran it one more time (probably the fifth, lol) when it did all of the right things with the drive letters, labels and GUIDs. Popped it into the XBox and went through the startup steps without the hang after the first "preparing...", fyi it rebooted just fine on its own. Did the offline update without issue and up she came. Working great so far, in the process of downloading my games again. Thanks for your efforts with this! Only oddity I've noticed is the "Latest Console Update Status" shows last updated on 12/31/1600 successfully. Assuming that will get straightened out on its own, yes?

@XFiX First off, thanks so much for your content! You're saving wallets and potentially lives with these videos. Like some others who've commented here, I've followed this video relentlessly, multiple times, in fact, but still haven't been able to get the console to fully accept the offline update.
My console is currently stuck with the 17763.2023 OS. I've tried running the OSU3 - this gives me an E101 00000504 80070570 within 3 seconds, OSU2 gives me E101 00000504 8B050041 within 3 seconds, and while OSU1 allows me to get to the actual update screen with three loading circles circles, it only reaches the verify circle, stops at 1% for 10-15 seconds then cuts off and reveals the E101 90050007 8007045D. I'll also note that my xbox never starts up with an error code - always straight to the 'Preparing console' with no loading circles and stops dead at 50% and attempting to remove all data via the troubleshooting menu eventually brings me to the same screen.
I've reformatted the HDD 4 times, checked for errors on the drive each time and it always says there are 0 and I've also tried installing the OSUs on two different USBs. I can't imagine that I have to get a new hard-drive as when I scan it on my PC, it doesn't give me any errors. Does this sound like something's wrong with the NAND? What am I doing wrong? Should I try a new drive? Am I screwed? Lol
Any feedback from you, @XFiX, or anyone else reading this would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks.
ps. accidentally commented this on a different vid, at first (woops)

his OS version is older than ours. Me and you and everyone else with the december OS version on these comments are all getting the same errors. I believe it is caused by the NAND as well.. if you notice in the video when he resets the console the screen is frozen.. on these newer build the screen doesn't actually freeze it actually restarts the console without a reset given that there is nothing to reset. I believe on that observation that the NAND is actually not being reset or deleted upon reset of the console causing the error 0101 everytime.. We need some script or software that we can run from usb that allows the NAND to be cleared and I believe that will solve our issue

Just performed. Had to find a later version of the master file, currently on 9. Great tutorial!

Thanks for this! My Xbox stopped working one day and I had no idea why. It turns out the HDD died completely so I followed your guide on setting up a new 1TB FireCuda, though I didn't bother adding the boot animation back as my computer refused to recognise the drive once the system had been setup.
It's crazy to me that I had to dig to find such a method and Microsoft don't officially support this but whatever. Thanks again.
