I've never seen an extendable upper bed in a truck bed camper. Never. And to have it in that condition, you got the find of the decade!!
Long ago my husband & I, before we had kids, went to Yellowstone for a week with an overhead truck camper. Go for the walks, see the sites, pull over in a parking lot, fix lunch/dinner/snack in the camper, take naps, (!!), watch our 6" b&w tv (no vcrs in those days), find an empty spot in a campground for the night... everything unplanned and at a whim. Best trip I ever had. Just seeing the camper and its wonderful condition is a total pleasure!

Wow, that really brings back memories. When my dad and uncles were alive, in the 80s, they all had similar setups for their hunting/camping trips. Sometimes I'd lay up in the bed with the window shades open and just watch the road and scenery go by. We'd all be backed up close to each other in a sorta circle and there was food, a bonfire and just really really good times. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a little watery eyed seeing inside that and the flood of memories. Thank you so much for sharing. 🐾🐾

Casey, couple of suggestions to consider. I have updated older campers, trailers, and pop-ups. First, change all the bulbs to LED to conserve power. Add a thermostatically controlled roof vent with rain cover. That could reduce your A/C demands. Finally, I would suggest swapping out that older 3 way fridge. There are You tubers who swear that those things are a fire hazard, especially if you use propane while in transit. I switched to a newer 12v compressor model, and am quite satisfied. I am just sharing my experiences, and encourage you to ignore me if any of my advice is contrary to what you want.

Thieves tried to steal setup on a couple of occasions just before hunting season. The old ford starters were not that great and truck was hard to start so didn't happen. I loved that setup. Okay, as a breeder of miniature donkeys I gotta comment. I know it was only a couple of seconds on video but hey, they're not mean! The minis were imported from the area around the Mediterranean where they work for a living to North America to be mostly pets. They are interactive and generally curious and friendly. Ours are great with kids. They are herd animals so they need to have a buddy - a couple of mini donkeys would be a great addition for Ryley! We know from past videos you have a source for hay and we've seen lots of fence around your property and a tractor so add a small shed for shelter from wind, snow and rain and you're ready.

I had been in the towing business off and on since I was only 9 years of age. Sadly I had a horrible accident in 2004 in which I was crushed and barely survived. I was told I'd never walk again but proved every Dr. Wrong, I ended up losing 3 feet of my Colon but hey I lived! I went back to towing again after relearning how to walk to help folks out as I have always been that kind of person. I wa the only wrecker in my area in Northern, MN until COVID was over and past. Now semi retired but miss it. The bag's no biggie to us folks only those who have no idea what and how short life is. Good luck, stay safe please.

Once you test the Wave2 I'm very tempted to pick one up. I have a Sprinter van with a 750W+ solar array and 7.2kWh LiFe battery array. Last year I traveled in it without HVAC (due to much less solar at the time) but it might be worth picking something up for less pleasant days, especially if it can run on 12V.

I won the bid on one of these on EBay years ago. Upon arrival to retrieve it, I learned the auction also included the GMC 2500 the camper was mounted in. The auction didn't say a thing about the truck. Never the less,, I cleaned up the truck and gave her a tune up. Sold the truck for more than I paid for the set. Ended up with a camper for free pretty much.

I had UC for 30 years and also had a bag on for a perforated large intestine. In 2017 I had the reversal surgery and they hooked me back up with 14" of intestine left. Now I am pretty normal and no signs of UC. Is that possible for you at this stage or not? It is not often people talk about these things and I appreciate you doing so.

With a propane fridge--start it up the day before. They work better while driving down the road because of the rocking back and forth. They are filled with ammonia. If you smell ammonia-it's leaking, probably shot at that time. If it does not heat up-check the burner for any obstruction. That lift up thing on one of the shelves is for tall containers. And get a few of those "pogo stick" type holders for the fridge. That will keep things from falling out when you open the door especially after a real rough ride. That is one nice camper. Enjoy.

Had a camper just like that for a while. A Mr. Heater Buddy heater with only the pilot light on is a great way to keep it warmer in cold weather. Because it is so small if you go with the small propane heater, which feels like a fireplace, it is a cheap, propane powered and convenient. I never slept with the heater on, but leaving the propane pilot light on kept it 20 degrees warmer, which many times was enough while sleeping. Occasionally, I woke up cold in the night and turned on the heater. Sticking a couple of battery powered LED lights on the ceiling was a super convenient backup light system. I always knew where they where and how to find them. Be very careful while off-roading with the jacks on. If you hit hole with a wheel, or of you hit a tree, rocks or ground with the jacks, you will do massive damage to the camper as the jacks shift and tear out of the corner of the camper. One can just turn around in an off road area, and hit a hidden hole, and bingo, the camper has damage. (I know from experience.) One of my best memories with my camper was pulling into a snow covered campground in Yellowstone with the camper late in the season. In a few minutes, I went from herds of buffalo across the road to a hot meal, in the front of the warm propane heater.

Or, sometimes FB MP is the bestest place to buy something you thought you didn't need (yet) that becomes the best purchase you ever did - as after you bought it, the realization also arrives with:
