Both sides of my family are from Cresson. Still have a few relatives there. One of my ancestors built the original Callan House, which is now the Station Inn.

Loved this video! We moved to Cresson from the San Francisco bay area in 1984, as my dad got a job transfer to the then brand new prison in Loretto. We moved back to the bay area a year later because we Californians couldn't handle the snow and small town lifestyle! I was a young 11 year old and have very fond memories of my time there. We lived on 5th street and I went to middle school in Lily and my sister went to Penn Cambria. I remember the Rite Aid grand opening in early 1985! My hope is to return one day and take a few days to re explore this cute little town!

I grew up in Cresson, along 53, below the Mountain House grounds. Moved away in 2010. Miss it a lot. Being that my family is all but gone, doubtful I’ll be back. Your route is the same route I rode on bus 21 going to and from Saint Aloysius.

I went to St. Aloysius too! Very briefly. From 5th grade to part of seventh. 1977 to 1979.

I was16 yrs old back then.you say you were in youth conservative corps in 1979 .I had to be with you because I was too. I m the black guy who slept next to the bathroom you guys called me Dewey my name is Dwayne . I think you worked in my crew we worked on the portage railroad we found the original drainage on the last day . And we built a wheel chair ramp at the lemon house . We went camping and visited famous architects Frank Loyd’s house . That was built on a waterfall. There was another black guy who slept in my room he had the first bed he left for a home visit and never came back he use to study plants. If your name is Doug I remember you. You had a girl friend who had blonde hair. I think he name was sue Im not sure hear are a few names you might remember, black girl name Blanche,, white boy named lil John, another kid named ed with the glasses . A nd the white boy named Frank he wore glassesYouth leader pat and youth leader big Joe, we had a ball we use to sit on the roof sometimes at night and talk. I know you remember the pillow fights so we would come in yall room and yall would come in ours and we fight.you were a skinny kid with short brown hair. I use to love the peanut butter cookies the cook would pack for our lunch. The last day we all cut a piece off the camp sailor flag. As a souvenir. Everybody was sad to leave some people cried at the bus stop. We said YCC been very Good to me. I’m blessed I’m 61 years old in good physical shape I can’t complain. God bless you take care.I will never forget that summer

I love the mention of White Birch Beer! I know of all the places you mentioned in Cresson. You stayed on Keystone Ave. We'd visit Glendale every summer driving down through Ashville on the way there. I don't think most people even realize the history of that inclined plane at the Lemon House. I'm glad you got to experience Cresson.
