If you grab the tarp at the front of the trailer it rolls it over and doesn’t drag the tarp so the tarp doesn’t get work out as bad, plus you end up with the tarp on top of the pile.
Not really. As it starts to roll it'll start to pour out the sides and you'll have a mess. I have a dump truck so these methods seem silly but if you only have a trailer I can understand doing this but pulling from the front isn't going to work on a trailer that long kinda common sense
Not a very fast way when you have to first plant a tree and then wait 15 years for it to grow enough to be an anchor point..... Now you still have to shovel all that gravel off the tarp; which takes longer than shoveling it off a trailer bed because one, you have to move the gravel in an upward motion whereas on the trailer it is a downward motion (less work by far, I've done both) and two, you have to be careful not to ruin/tear the tarp while shoveling the gravel when the trailer bed requires no such worry.
Sorry I forgot to post part two. It involves driving the opposite direction using the same strap going over the gravel. Took about 2 minutes to set up and about 20 seconds to drive away. I thought that was common sense. Smarter not harder.
@@ChaseThePinballWizard. With that being said, I suppose I have to wait for the people to mind the metal to build my trailer and the rubber for the tires. Your logic is whack.
And this is why I have a 7'x16' dump trailer. I had 1 hour to deliver the gravel to the ground so I could make it to the gravel yard before they closed. Got the road repaired and got 8 tons for 80 bucks. Fastest and cheapest way period.
I only did this one time to let you know if you are in a pinch this literally is the fastest way to unload a load of gravel off of a flat bed trailer. Which is a very common way to haul gravel for a lot of people.
I though about something similar with wood, but now I realize the problem is it's on the ground on top of the tarp or what ever you use. Maybe unhook, park truck perpendicular to trailer and use come-along to flip trailer on side (if wheels could handle) or end to end like a dump. But at least you are thinking of new ways. Well done!

@@PainterD54. I hooked the truck to the strap and pulled it the other way over the gravel. FYI. It is the fastest way to unload it. That is all. No more no less. I had to make it to the yard before it closed. For 8 yards in one night after work. I successfully completed the objective.

Put a piece of plywood on the ground, with mortar blocks on one end to angle it up at one end. Dump onto the angled plywood, using the technique in the video. The material slides down the plywood into the hole or wherever.

Great idea! Plastic tarps are cheap too. This would work even better on a hydraulic tilt trailer. Thanks for the tip.
Pretty sure hiring a dump truck to dump it would be the easiest way. I just happen to be fresh out of both of those options.
Throw some dismantled cardboard boxes under the tarp before pick up to lower friction at initial move.

Just for longevity if you had tow straps sewn into base of the tarp and the seam should be strong too, Good work,

How did you secure the tarp to the lumber??
I put the tarp on the trailer. Put the bar on the tarp then folded the tarp over the trailer again making it 2 layers of tarp.
What type of tarp did you use and where did you get it ?
Thanks
Brilliant idea !
It’s road grade tarp. I think any good quality tarp will do. Just double layer it like I did and make sure your trailer is very clean and wet.
