Great review by Joe. I agree with everything that Joe mentioned in the review. I purchased the 3028 in 2012 and I have used the heck out of it at my Wisconsin lake cottage. I did need to replace the wand in 2020 and I needed to fix the red plastic on/off switch. The mounting holes for the switch cracked and I used some epoxy to make it operational again. No issues with my pump or engine, but I am anal about changing engine oil and the pump oil.

No problem! Unfortunately, Yamaha has decided to no longer produce pressure washers. There is more than likely lots of new stock out there but if you want one of these, don’t wait too long. Sooner or later, they will be extinct.

I’m buying one, have been looking for a quality unit after having a cheap electric ryobi. Cat pump and motor seem solid even tho I like Honda motors.
Is it possible to drain the pump for winter storage? I live in NY and don’t have a basement to store it in during the winter months and I keep my garage door open to much were I would worry it would freeze.

Winterizing the unit is simple. I actually keep mine in an unheated shed during the winter months. All you need to do is buy a quality pump storage chemical. These are usually in aerosol cans and they create a foam that lubricates the pump and keep it from freezing. Before doing this, pull the starter rope several times with the unit switched off and no hoses attached. This will expel most of the water from the pump. I have been winterizing this unit for years and never had an issue.

Very detailed review. I noticed that you introduce lots of outdoor power equipment on the channel. Hipa is a parts supplier of outdoor power equipment and are you up for a collaboration to share some tips on outdoor power equipment maintenance and repair to help the DIY novice in the community? Maybe we would work together to help more DIYers.

I would definitely be interested in discussing collaboration. That would be great.
