I agree 100% with ya on buying a Honda engine. All of my lawn equipment have Honda engines on them. You take care of them and they last forever. I just bought a new Honda mower and sold me old mower, it was 16 years old and still started on the first pull.
By the way. These are GREAT educational videos that you do.. especially for someone like myself who's about to purchase a gas powered one for the 1st time. I love your channel.
Hey Doc... My husband is the one in the family that gets a ton of knowledge from RUclips. I'm like you- I buy a half dozen products, try them all, review them and choose a favorite. You were smart though- where I wore exhaustive reviews on Amazon, you have cornered the video market like Family Handyman has covered the print tool/product comparison! Lmk if you ever want to team up on a project! Love your stuff👍👍😊
I have one like your that I bought 10 years ago at Costco , and it’s a 2700 psi 2.4 . Is like new only use it once a year. I’m thinking of starting my own power pressure business thru your tips.
Well I was prepared to watch like an hour of multiple videos and shmucks talking up some specific model of pressure washer. I’m stopping after this one. You clearly have experience and recommended units and values rather than a specific model. This kind of informations lasts and is actually helpful.
I've looked at dozens of pressure washers with different PSI's and GPM's and you finally made sense of it PSI x GPM = Cleaning Units! Fantastic! You have vastly improved my research efficiency. I'm hoping to find another formula where you demonstrate Cost/Customer Rating= Value.
Bless you, Doc! Just checked out your website & all the products you recommend. So incredibly helpful! I don’t have any male figure in my life to go to for this advice, so you are a God send.
Okay, I took your advice, I purchased the pwasher from amazon . The 3200psi/2.3gpm machine . I purchased Sta-bil 360 and that goes in all my gas. But my unit does not ha a gas/fuel shutoff. Yea, I had to go back get a splitter, and a hose shut off🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
i have same one! 4 years old starts perfect! never give up on me only i wish if it would have little more power! next time i ll buy at least 3100 psi !
Ive had an old Briggs and Stratton 2200 Psi/2.2 gpm washer I've used for years on my decks, driveway and vinyl siding. Always cleaned really good and fast. But glad you showed me that cleaning tool. As you're right, doing a driveway with a nozzle is a painfully slow 3 day affair for my driveway. I'll be bookmarking that tool for sure. Looking to replace my 2200 with a Craftsman 3000 psi/2.5 GPM but that link you gave is 3200/2.5 for around the same price, so probably go with that. It should be a nice upgrade. My neighbor uses a 5000 PSI Simpson. I always thought that was way overkill. Thanks for the video!
Hi Doc, thanks for the very informative video. I have a dumb question to ask, can I use a gas surface cleaner to an electric pressure washer? I'm inclined to think its not possible but thought I should ask an expert. Thanks in advance.
You just have to love RUclips. I needed to make a good choice on a Power Washer and knew I needed to do a lot of research to do it right. I found your video first, and after such excellent advice, turned around and ordered the new unit reflected on your website with the extension and the surface scrubber for doing the driveway. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and expertise. GREATLY Appreciated! Any advice on power washing a Trex Deck without ruining it? Would the surface scrubber work well for that application like a walkway/driveway?
Such good tips on what type of pressure washer to purchase. As a first time homeowner without a clue as to what features to look for in choosing a pressure washer for home use, this was an invaluable video with very helpful information. Thank you so much!! :))
Pretty informative. I've always had the ~1600psi Electric washers, and have had mixed results. Right now mine is leaking & losing pressure so I have to fix or get a new one. If you let gas play out after shut off and release pressure, can I then store it in my garage (Chicago area- sub freezing and sometimes sub-zero temps) all winter? Also would it be best t for winter storage to run ALL the gas out, or fill the tank with gas & stabilizer? Or is just doing the gas line shutoff and run it out enough? With the electric ones I've had to bring them into the basement to keep water inside from freezing & cracking something inside. Also on your Amazon link the current protection plans are for 2 or 3 years and the 3 yr is $44.99
Good video. I use the pump saver every time I am done with the washer . Maybe over kill but it's more of a cheap insurance for me . What I am thinking is town water has chlorine in it and that stuff is bad for your pump . So why not use it every time . It's only $12 a bottle and I get four to five times out of the bottle . Buy the way I have a Yamaha washer and it is amazing . But Honda was on my list when I was shopping for one .
Thank you for the video, very useful! Went to Lowe's today, they only have the model with Briggs&Stratton 725 EXI Series on sale, no Craftsmans with Honda engines though. Would this still be a good buy? Best.
Thank you for all your great videos. I have an older house with half the house bottle-dash stucco and the remaining bottom half in vinyl. Its also known as glitter stucco. The stuff is bullet proof and I rather like it, however, its dingy and desperately needs to be cleaned. The window frames are wood and need to be scraped and painted. How to I clean the exterior without knocking off all the glass & stone? What do you suggest (given a standard disclaimer)?
How would you rate 2,300 PSI 1.2 GPM High Performance Electric Pressure Washer or 3000 PSI 2.3-GPM Honda Gas Pressure Washer? I want to get one to wash my patio/floor and maybe in future siding on a 2000 sq ft home in SC. A lot of pollen down here. The 2.3 GPM seems a lot lower than even the numbers you were saying. I don't mind power cables opposed to filling up a gas tank.
Do you think at Harbor Freight 6.5 hp, 3100 psi @ 2.8 GPM in enough to remove graffiti with 15 degree tip? Can it be used in a commercial setting such a house washing?
Hey Doc. Recommendation on PSI for removing three year old stain from cedar fence in order to re-stain? The current stain was put on with brush so there's a lot of streaks.
Would a 7000psi 8.0GPM Hot water pressure washer work for a homeowner for general household cleaning? I'm not sure if I should purchase a hot water pressure washer or a cold water one. I have a 3200 psi 2.7 GPM cold water pressure washer and I think it's just too underpower and it never meets my "desire" in terms of power.
Hi Doc. I bought the Simpson pressure washer you recommended plus ALL the attachments. I used it a few times and LOVE it. I used the (cleaning solution pick up) one time, I forget what I used. But now I’m trying to use Dawn dish soap and can’t get the washer to pick up or draw the detergent from the reservoir….. I even tried thinning it out. Am I doing something wrong. What could be the problem where it doesn’t draw any solution. I’m using the correct tip as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I'm really enjoying this process in purchasing and considering going into my own buisness with pressure washing, but there is know talk about licensing/liability? Can you help me get started? Thanks
Doc, What would you recommend for a tall two story home, vinyl sided, roof is flat so house is about 30 feet tall. I want to be able to get the soap up there at the top, and also the rinse without high pressure. More of a soft wash, the height is my problem. Thanks
Hey doc, I would like to know your opinion about the 3700 PSI Simpson power washer from Lowe's versus the 3300 Northstar power wash from Northern tool. With the pump on the Simpson being a AAA Pump and the pump on the North Star is a CAT pump. Which is the best buy
hello, I have a husky power washer 1500 PSI- that is quite a few years old- but works fine- BUT all it has is two attachments for the gun and it takes forever!!- Can I purchase the Karcher type of cleaning unit for this washer?? and mine is electric- which I prefer!!- can I get an equivalent item for a reasonable price?? or is there a similar upright model like I have that I can buy along with the round cleaning head for quick easy jobs? Please recommend and try to keep the cost reasonable. :)
@@HowTowithDoc hello again. Not sure what you mean at all by a" matched "unit?? Knowing the unit i have and it being electric can you recommend a similar upright unit in the correct psi range for a reasonable price?
Just got the one you recommended in your link and it does not have a shut off valve after the fuel tank. The user guide on the amazon link said it did. So I’m either returning it and looking for one that does or do you know if adding a valve is possible? Is that something you have ever done before?
@@HowTowithDoc I saw box stores have a briggs and straton inline fuel valve for just 9 bucks. gonna go that route. the amazon user guide for this PSI Washer said it did in the procedure to shut valve and let run until it dies just like you said to do. Not a big deal but i am particular when i don't get exactly what Im purchasing. Thanks for the reply. Your videos have been so helpful. you do great work
I have a 2500 psi, 3 gpm machine with a 3 foot wand. Would 2nd story nozzles allow me to reach the peak of the siding of a 2 story house? Any help Would be appreciated!

Hi Doc, I recently watch your video. I enjoyed it. You talked about PSI. I live in Florida. My main concern is cleaning my Lanai. It is a screened in area that has aluminum upright and aluminum trusses connected with screen. I presently use a 1900 PSI electric power washer. I am reluctant to go to 2600 PSI, I think it will dislodge the screen from the uprights and trusses? What your take on my thought process. Also, I love the 3200PSI for cleaning the driveway / product links. In closing is there a way to slow down the PSI for cleaning the Lanai? Hope you can assist with my dilemma. The pressure rating for pressure washers is calculated by the 0° tip. If you use a 25° tip it drops the pressure rating. If you use a 40° tip it drops it further. Doc, how do I know the one in Amazon link has fuel cut-off valve to fuel for storing it for winter? It’s a different one that you currently showed. Thanks
Shouldn't be too hard to splice in your own shutoff if it doesn't have one, however, I don't know if this will void any warranty plans. It was simple to put one on my rider.
There are different manufacturers who make various length extensions to put on the end of your pressure washer wand/gun. A high starting PSI is going to help alot as well. Otherwise I would check your local area for company's like myself that offer remedies for people such as yourself. Good luck👍
If you put stabilizer in fuel not to gum up...than why do I have to shut it off by the fuel line...The fuel stabilizer should work in the engine just as much as in the fuel tank....So I don't get it???
Actually, those additives are extremely harsh on the system. A small engine instructor I know told me that in the class they got from a major small engine manufacturer they were taught to drain all the fuel from the engine before storing it because the additives in fuel and the ones consumers put in the tank will cause the carburetor parts to deteriorate to a gummy mess if left to to sit.
Hi Doc I took your advice & ordered the Simpson pressure washer $398 from Amazon . It came with a broken gun & a dent in the muffler case. I called Simpson and told them. They said they would send me new parts. I figured let me see if the washer would work with the broken gun. Hooked everything up & the pressure wasn’t very strong. Called Simpson back & said disconnect hose & see if your getting pressure without the hose connected. I took of hose turned on water & water came out. I turned machine on and no difference in pressure. Called Simpson & told them the pump is defected! They told me I can’t return it I need to bring it to be serviced because I bought it from Amazon. I didn’t pay $400 to buy a defected machine that I cat return and for them to tell me to get this fixed! Not very happy

I didn’t pay $400 to buy a defected machine that I cat return and for them to tell me to get this fixed! Not very happy
I got a Honda gx340 for my house should that work 4000 psi lol
Too bad to hear about electric pressure washers being insufficient. I haven't come across a gas one that is not crazy loud & completely obnoxious.
