Andy Anderson is s tripper.
He doesn't care what anyone thinks just heading out on his own skate odyssey.
True skater and absolutely unique .
Love that about him 🔥
one of the best skaters out right now IMO.
@@masonmcconnell9375 Easily top 5 most versatile. And he does stuff like front foot impossibles the way most people would be happy to kickflip.
@@seymourglass26 yeah man this dude rips hard love watching it.
I like that your comment is “s tripper” a key ingredient to any good stripper.
Andy is the modern day Mullen. Even the way he explains things reminds me of the goat
in many ways. being made fun of and treated like kinda a weirdo oddity but in actuality is laying the foundations for the next generation
Couldn’t agree more.
He takes after his skate mentor kevin harris. He's not even remotely close to mullen as far as style. Go watch kevin and see andy's skate mentor in action.
Love Andy and Ricky Glasier, Mullen is genius
No way, Giger is.
I started skate boarding at 52 and Andy's board is the gift I gave myself for my 53rd birthday.. not only Is Andy my favorite skateboarder of all time, but I'm and Anderson also & my friends call me Andy... Love you Andy
Welcome to the family brother. It's never too late to have fun!
Nice one ! Ice just started up again at 46. Shreddin the mini ramp again. Never had all the ramps n parks about the place when I used to skate in the public domain days. Loving it
I skated from 14 to ~20 - with breaks here and there. Turn 45 today. Bought 3 Andy Anderson decks last night. The 8” flight deck and both sizes of the 7 ply
I just got a new deck that is wide as his but his deck looks pretty awesome
Just turned 55 and got the 9.13" flight deck
Get massive Mullen vibes with Andy... especially with his general demeanour. One of those quiet, introspective and understated genius's.
rodney and andy should make a video!
go oil
Liked comment for the oil
True they really have the same inavateive style
Rodney seems to have been raised by wolves. This dude is a bit goofy in comparison. Love both of them tho.
11:52 Chris’s mind melted when he realized boardslide ollies will become a thing in the future
Dude when you do a front board and that shit tilts to one side. it's super rad in slow mo too like in Jeff Kendall in wheels of fire part bro
@@UTCSB u u had a lot more time with my own life and my heart to see you guys are gonna have some more time to
fancy lad vibes
So did mine tbh
This dude is the bridge between skate styles and I think it’s really rad to watch all these styles come together and skaters feel less pigeon holed in street or vert
The world needs more people like Andy Anderson!
🙌
Yes!!
Some of the dudes didnt want him on powell, those guys deserve a good slap for such nonsense, andy is such an asset to skateboarding
They didn’t want the helmet lol.
@@groovefretboard losers
For how accepting skateboarders are of some things, they can also be super judgmental and act like gatekeepers of cool.
Thankfully guys like Andy clearly DGAF and just do their own rad thing
Probably because they're jealous? In 10 to 20 years Andy's name will be spoken alongside legends & innovators.
@@i-never-look-at-replies-lol No it isn't jealousy. They're just snobs for no good reason.
I find it HILARIOUS that Crob and Tim IMMEDIATELY moved on after Andy said he's really into chair design.
Lmao fr
I mean, what even is that? Carpentry? Upholstery? Respect having hobbies, though.
They way Andy described his design and thought process was so fascinating, every curve and angle has a purpose, I would have never seen it and I’ve been skating for 15+ years. Great work Andy! 🙌🏻
Andy could make chair design a artform that takes a lifetime to master.
@Joey Maxon objectively incorrect. But ok.
That's awesome that you guys got Andy Anderson on!
He's the kind of guy where you probably just have to ask. He's doing new things and wants people to know about it.
Here’s what I’ll say. I got out of the Army after 9 years as a paratrooper in the infantry in April . I’ve been re-learning how to be a civilian again and I used to skate before the army. I started skating again and have been watching this guy Andy and I’m thankful for how passionate he is. It gives me something to also re believe in again and I will abso-****ing lately want to get that board when it comes out. Thanks Andy and Crob 🙏🇺🇸🍻
I could spend days listening to Andy explaining every little detail about his setup
I love hearing how much Andy thinks about his reasons for doing everything he does. He is so very deliberate. How many 24 year olds have ever said “I’m really into chair design”?
Andy is so chill and himself and that what makes him cool.
I just got that deck and set it up and it’s literally the greatest feeling board I’ve ever ridden. It just makes you want to do insane shit you’ve never even thought to tru
As an old ex skater that never quite let go of the vibe...this kid is switched right on! How awesome to see a young dude redefining what skating is, what a board should be (old school Hosoi shape, ftw!) and bringing such a great attitude. Dude will go a long way in the world 👌
I’ve never agreed with chris more than when he said he likes the bearings to sound on the brink of death
I love the audio of skating! 😊 Good to know I'm not the only one!
disgusting.
Andy’s mind is so unique that it instantly makes him an outsider. What’s beautiful is that Andy doesn’t seem to take the loner role personally, he just keeps being himself. That is one of his keys to success. There are no other Andy Anderson’s in the world.
I feel like there are. They just dont get exposure because they’re just doing their own thing
@@_Maxten i agree. I actually think (in an admirable way, though it might sound insulting) Andy has a lot in common with the ‘nerdy’ type kids that everyone knew, or knew of in high school. Very outcasted, but despite the social consequences in terms of popularity, its more worth it to people like Andy to be authentic and not put on a front. Just have fun and skate, or play video games or pokemon or whatever and fuck what everyone thinks. Mad respect to that archetype
@@IndiaNumberOneCoubtry exactly, he never changed to be “cool”. Respect
He reminds me a lot of young Rodney Mullen
@@Tyreinn 100%. Rodney and Andy love skateboarding so much, it’s their zen, their world. I relate to Andy and I love Rodney Mullen. I share the same personality traits, and when I’m struggling that I don’t fit in, I think of the quiet innovative types who thrive, and it inspires me
That trippy hippie is changing the world of skating using his brain. So happy he wears a helmet
Andy is the best thing to come to skateboarding in a very long time.
Totally. He cares more about skateboarding than trying to come across as being 'cool'. He is a breath of fresh air to the world of skateboarding.
andy is way ahead of our time, one day our grandchilds will thank him for all that he is doing for innovating the way skate is
Boardside Ollie's off the Rail tip that's deep 😁👀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊
Seen him yesterday at Venice dude is so clean 🤙
I gotta say I was kinda star struck lol and called him Anthony 🤦 fuck! 😅🤣😂
"Yo! Andy Anthony! what's up?" yea, you're right, sounds weird
😂
Don't trip, people have been mispronouncing Mike Vallely for decades.
@@gweesequinton4162 would've been worse if he just called him anthony instead of andy 😂😂😂
did you get his autograph
I want to hear more about Andy's Chair designing.
I heard you Andy and plan on bringing RIMS back soon! Thanks for the shout out and in the meantime I have special prototype ones waiting for you ;)
So rad!
I back it , triple gold Dayton's
I miss my rims... I'm all about clean bearings!
Bro those were the best! Please bring them back I'm tired of buying new bearings!
holy shit!!! that's wild!!! i was randomly thinking about these just the other day!!!! would love to see these make a comeback 🔥 nostalgia like a mf!
Andy is the best!!!! Such a sweet guy and insanely talented. Love it!
I love Andy's mind. Every part of his board makes total sense. So cool. Great skater. Versatile and innovative. And Canadian too! Dude after my own heart.
Andy is an amazing skater... and now I realize he’s just a genius in all aspects
This literally made me wanna try one of his boards. I love flat-tails and his model looks sick.
He is open minded. Incredibly creative. Probably my favorite skater today. Love watching him skate with so much freedom.
I watch every video I can find about Andy explaining his board. I learn something new every time. I just got a setup done as close as I could to his based on his Braille video.
I’m an old skater from the 80s 90s, I don’t ride any more as I never was that good but I still love watching the next generation doing their thing and Andy is one of the most endearing sk8 nerd there is!
The way Andy is so creative it’s like he’s stoned but he’s not
Probably is.
@@Haapavuo dude doesnt smoke thanks for coming out tho.. don’t assume G makes you look bad. He’s just very humble i see him all the time never has an attitude you wouldnt like 👍🏼
This video made me run out today and buy a whole new complete with his deck for $340 CDN and I regret nothing
How did i NOT know about this channel ?? I am Finally HOME !! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Find someone who looks at you like Andy looks at his board 😀 Absolute legend in the making :-)
Love his board. I have it in 8.45 and 9.13. AA is a savant and an amazing soul. Keep rippin
do you happen to know what size board he’s showing the set up for?
The 9.13 is Andy’s personal size.
Thank you for the reply. Do you happen to know what wheels he rides he mentioned he had on 53s but rides 56s too but im not sure which wheel company. I want to mimic a Andy Anderson board set up
@@palabra17 ya for sure dude. Last I know of he rides Bones Wheels. Ive seen another video where he’s doing a set up and he is putting Bones Caballero Baby Dragon wheels on.
@@palabra17 I’m building my set up right now and I went with 9” Indy stage 11’s. I was gonna go with mini logos. Cuz if he can ride mini logos I sure as heck can but I’m old and wobbly so I wanted more stability and mini logo doesn’t make 9’s. The biggest they go it 8.75.
I’ve just started to try and sell my own stuff but am feeling pessimistic about it and then this gets recommended! - “ If you’re going to promote anything, promote yourself “. I’ll take it as a sign because Andy knows what he’s talking about!😎
This is so good💯🔥 the passion he has talking about the board is amazing
Andy rides the gear I used to ride almost 30 years ago, rail guards, wide trucks, big boards, helmet … he lists the most ‘hated’ tricks as being the justification for the shape and owns it. Ride what you want how you want when you want.
He knows what he wants, so it doesn’t matter what people think of the setup. Definitely cool
The name of the game has always been do what you find fun. If you end up going pro for what you do, all the more power to you.
Because of Andy I decided to pick up skating again...he is so inspiring!! I bought the flightdeck and am still getting used to it's strange shape...but I'm pulling tricks I never did before!! Thank you for this video...always wondered what Andy's set up was.
This is especially how longboarding/downhill skating is with gear being very specific. Regular skaters/people never understand but andy would!
I mean many ''regular'' skaters are very into their setups as well, but I personally think it's a bit devilish to get stuck on trivial details, as they say ''the devil is in the details''
Andy Anderson is an old soul...and one hell of a talented skater. He is inspiring a ton of skaters and has already left a huge mark on skateboarding.
Make him a regular. Just add him in for commentary and reactions to nine club watching a part or let him go "deep in depth" and his detailed thoughts on skateboarding and life.
He easily could make his own channel reacting to skate videos and breaking them down. He probably would make more money than he does as a skater, to be honest.
Andy is sick as fuck. One of two current pros I can think of with a signature board SHAPE. Most pros only have a pro graphic, not a a shape, he is definitely making waves with his unique trick selection
The shape is so sick
whos the second?

Years later, that's still the Flight Deck that I regularly use. Being a huge dude at 6'5" and 250+lbs, with size 14 shoes, this big deck is perfect for me. I wear my nose and tail out long before it ever feels like the board is going to break. Flight Decks are perfect for me. Best deck shape I've ridden since the 80s. Love it.
"Less balls is less friction".
Advice for life, people.
Andy is the man!!
At 55yo this inspired me to finally get off my old school boards from my teen years in the 80's to whats probably my last board to hit above coping. Looking forward to doing damage thanks!!
HB Andy 🔥🔥
living legend
He needs needs his own hat too.
Although it’s seriously great to see Powell come full circle, I remember a doc about early videos and McGill watching and them laughing cause nobody would wear there own shirt like they all were back in the 80s.
But McGill’s graphic was awesome why not rock it.
Andy is a thinker. Dude has purpose behind everything. Great video!
Just snagged one. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it on the wall. They’re so difficult to come by.
Im 49 and still love skating… been watching skate videos alll day. Dan Corrigan and Andy
He's one amazing skater. I like him even more after he explained his set up. Damn.
This guy takes me back to being a kid in the 1980s riding my Caballero. I’m buying his board and one for my 9 yr old son who’s a skating addict!
He spent all that time explaining why his board is shaped so weird and I still have no idea why it's shaped so weird it all went totally over my head lmao
Interesting guy - good honest creative energy. Marginal gains.
Wow I'm glad I came across this. How can you not be an Andy Andersen Fanatic!!!
God Bless Andy Anderson. Waiting for my parts in the mail today to setup my flight deck!!!
No One ever thought freestyle skating would be brought up on the nine club until now.
"that's my gas pedal for pressure flips" smart kid
I love that Fame hasn't got to Andy brain and he skated in the studio so rad good to see a skater truly loves Hes craft.
He has lots of love
Feels like they just weren't giving Andy the respect he deserves here. It won't bug him, he's so chill that way, but it's a shame they're clearly missing the beautiful picture his skating paints. Guess he's too outside the box for em.
Don't think so man... They might not be as out there as Andy is, but they really respect him. If you see their reactions to videos Andy has put out, you notice the love. And I also think that on camera, since they have to run a show, they might cut things short a bit. I bet off camera they went into everything more :)
@@forformgamer I appreciate your reply, bro. Maybe I was trippin but it came off that way to me even though I didn't want it to. Like they were on the verge of making fun of him half the time and not exactly friendly the other half. I actually hope you're right, but I've watched it again and I can't shake the feeling.
@@Vorniforous Right on. I watched the Q&A after this with Andy and also watched some earlier vid of Crob talking about Andy before this and I feel like maybe this wasn't as bad as I thought. Just two different vibes not syncing; like one's cocaine and the other one's shrooms.
"I'm here for marginal gains."
put that on a t-shirt
Would love to see Andy and The Gonz chat design and skate
This!!!!
Yo I forgot about those grind king rims. All my homies had em back in the day
"you dont pop your shields off?" lol. they usually always fell off and jingled around like a little bell
Dude Andy is the fricken goat 🐐 the real life reincarnation of Rodney Mullen dude is so chill and best vibes so positive 💯🐐🛹
I kinda assumed he was just some stoney kid but now I respect the hell out of his thought and development process.
Love Andy and love the channel. Always great content you’re sharing with the world. Much love and respect ✊🏽
Make more of those decks. They are still selling like hot cakes and while at it send some to Europe.
Andy is 100% pure genius. Love the guy.
Andy your a full on legend bro
Got myself an Anderson 8,45... I never skated a better Board. You are an inspiration ❤
What sizes trucks did you put on the 8.45?
I actually purchased his board because I wanted to change things up a little bit I’m always excited for new things especially when it comes to the skate industry the Andy Anderson board is pretty fun and it’s surprisingly strong and lite for what it is On a sidenote I also picked up a new set of bone Swiss and Powell dragon formula wheels The wheels are super surprising and I haven’t quite experienced anything like these I’ve been skating since 92 and these absolutely feel like something new
this was awesome andy is the fuckin man dude a breath of fresh air for skateboarding hands down made respect for him.
i love andy!! amazing soul
That sideways boardslide ollie he talked about around 12 minutes in would totally work - you can do a "sideways ollie" just by hopping a primo stand from riding stance but keeping your feet touching the board as you drag upwards with the heels. If a scrub like me can get a mini jump going from that technique, Andy Anderson could absolutely do a proper mini ollie of at least several inches off the rail.
As a person who started skating in the 90s, I was used to small ass boards like 7.5, because that's what everyone skated. I remember my friend getting an 8 and we mocked him for it (we were 12). Now I started again and the meta is 8.25/8.5 and for me as a casual skater, it's so much better. I might have to set up an Andy board. It looks incredible.
Also 6 percent better dark slides, I'm sold!
I bought my big balls one day when I didn't even need bearings, I just saw them in a shop and laughed, and then the dude showed me the sticker on the glass cabinet from the big balls that just said big balls and I wanted the sticker for my hard hat 🤣 then I threw them in when my reds needed to be replaced and honestly can't tell a difference but I think they're about the same price as reds and there both bones so I'll prob buy them again just for the stickers but like if I went into a shop needing bearings and they only had one or the other im not gunna be bummed over not getting a certain one.
When I first started skating I always bought luckys from my local shop, I think I bought black panthers once or twice when I was like 13, but ive been skating reds/big balls now for years
Love andy hes a good one . A skateboarder in the truest form. Skating is lucky to have him
Andy is such a rad character
“Listen to my board, you hear that?” Hahahaha I pop shields too
I've always been curious about AA's board. This was really great!
I have that same grip tape! Picked it for my first board a couple months back getting into skating, didn't realise it was Andy's that's so cool :)
I can't wait to be able to get me and my 2 daughters, (who love his videos and his board) who are learning now, his board.
Andy is the only skateboarder I’ve ever seen who feng shui his skateboard, good job Natas, good job!
I like how this convo is perpetually complex and the hosts are funnt
Just ordered one. Going to be my first Powell Peralta deck and set of rails 😁
Andys board looks like a darn snowboard 😂 insane. I still want one!! Love big decks!!
I wanted to see the hour explanation of the board!
It might sound like nonsense to most people, but this dude is a genius and it shows is his skateboarding 💯 hope to see this guy more often'!
Hell yes!! Andy is my current fav skater.
This board in Flight Deck 9.13” with 63mm softies is the super cruiser
Can you make adjustable rails ? Like a have a long oval metal insert with 3 holes on each so you can change the angles and how far in or out the rails are set. Also you would have oval hardware holes on the rails and a special design of hardware
Andy could easily have been an engineer. Hell, he’s basically there already. His design is very inspired and innovative.
The guru of skateboarding.
One of a kind truly a legend 🛹🐐
