😂 I’m in band and I can guarantee that the band room is the most safest place. Honestly we have so much thing to barricade the door and we have so many places to hide In. We have REALLY BIG drums we can literally hide in. We have VERY BIG CASES that we can also hide in. And we have 100 cabinets. We also have SO MANY SHELVES. Tbh...we’re finna be safe in band

It’s the truth. Bullying turns good kids into monsters. Years of psychological and emotional torture from your peers can affect anyone to the point they could feel they have no way out and would feel the need to do something horrific for revenge. What we really need to stop school shootings is more support and caring for potential victims of bullying and those having difficulties in their home lives so we can prevent them from having a desire to commit these acts in the first place.

We did a lockdown training, this time the principal announced that there is a school lockdown, I thought it was real, I cried a little in the bathroom cubicle silently, but I manned up, the cubicle I go every time I go to the bathroom always has a metal pipe, but there was none :( our school is big, and all the halls were very dark, I slowly walked as I heard footsteps, I climbed in a locker and closed it silently, I watched 2 people walking with a airsoft gun I quickly went to the nearest exit door but all of them were locked obviously, I did not know what to do I observed every hall silently, luckily there were no more than 2 fake school shooters, one went into a class which did not have desks barricaded the other one went the opposite direction, the one in the class taught the students about how to counter shooter attacks, I thought that class was done for so I followed the other fake shooter, I tackled him so he was screaming, this bought attention to everyone and the lights went on as I just sat on the shooter covering his face with my jacket, And then I was like “is this a fake shooting” but I already realized, the principal thanked me because I countered the fake attacker, unfortunately I did not get anything because of my bravery ;(

We used to have training all the time, “The Sitting Duck,” approach was used all the time when I was younger. My elementary school was in a bad neighborhood and I remember more about hiding in closets than I do about any math lesson. On my first day of sixth grade, last year, there was a shooter in the district and we were all rushing to remember our ALICE training that’s been newly introduced to us. On the Walk Out day last year, we were forced to have a silent protest in the commons, me holding up my friend who was on crutches at the time for an accident in track. It was so quiet. I’ve never seen kids my age so solemn. It felt somber.
This year, I was in Spanish class doing a worksheet. An active shooter drill was supposed to be that day (none of us knew, of course) and the principal came onto the intercom telling us to lock our doors and be silent immediately. She sounded suspiciously afraid and panicked, and even my teacher didn’t know there was a drill. It was terrifying. There were even kids screaming in another class, and we all knew that if it wasn’t a drill, and there really was a shooter, those kids would be heard right away. It wasn’t even real and I was scared to death. I don’t feel safe in school, really. I live in Wyoming- I grew up with guns. Guns don’t bother me. You can kill a person with almost anything.
No, it’s those who decide to come into a place of education and massacre children that makes me afraid to be at school.

there was a school shooting at my school when i was in 2nd grade. My class was in a corner, but the only thing i was really worried about is the fact that my best friend kate wasnt anywhere near my class. She had gone to the restroom when the shooter started the school shooting. I was terrified. The shooter banged on my class room door, and my stupid teacher wasnt prepared and didnt even lock the door. The door opened and everyone started screaming, besides me. He shot 3 of my classmates, killing 2 of them. The cops came in time to seize him. (The total injured/killed kids at my school were 38. 22 killed, 13 injured terribly, and 3 requiring surgery.) The cops escorted our class out of the classroom, I was still looking for my bestfriend. We walked past the girl's restroom, and i saw kate. Dead on the floor. My body froze, and i burst into tears. My teacher was right infront of me and ran to support me. When my mom came to school, she hugged me so tight. She asked if i was okay, and i didnt respond. I didnt talk for 12 days because of that traumatizing, terrifying day.
    RIP Kate, i love you.

In a school (or office) shooting:
If everyone in the class tackles him at the same time, and the teacher snatches his gun, while several other students hit him with metal bats, stomp on him, chances of survival are pretty high. Strength in numbers. Might get messy, and some could get hurt, but it’s definitely better than other alternatives. Of course this means everyone has to be in-position before he gunman enters the door. For extra safety, have a large padlocked storage at the back of class, so the teacher can immediately throw the gun in and lock the box, while the students continue to attack. It’s good to have a few students pinning down all his limbs so he can’t draw other weapons. New Life Baptist Academy in New Mexico uses their PE lessons to have all their students trained for this! This defence strategy/counter-attack is so random and unpredictable that the gunman won’t be able to prepare for it in advance. There’s a video on RUclips.

This breaks my heart that schools have had to train & practice what to do in an "active shooter" situation.
I cannot fathom what it is like for these kids to have "active shooter" drills multiple times throughout the school year.
When I was in elementary school in the 80's the Cold War was still going on & we had to do "Air-Raid" drills, "Duck and Cover" drills, "Nuclear Strike" drills, whatever you want to call them, we had to get under our desks with our hands over our heads, but we weren't hearing about other schools having nuclear bombs dropped on them the way kids now know when school shootings are happening all around them. It has become their normal & that should upset any & all of us that this is where we are as a country.
My older daughter is 23 years old (today actually) & they had "Active Shooter" drills, but not as often or as intense as what my 11 year old daughter has to do during those drills.

edit; also, the the teachers would lock the doors, and cover the windows. the staff would come around the school, and shake each door knob to check that they were locked.

I remember our school had a surprise active shooter drill while everyone was on the middle of the hallway....
    Emphasis on surprise.
When I tell you I booked it into the classroom, blocked the door, and started assigning weapons to the other people in the room I did.
I’m not sure whether they respected or feared me in that moment.

I hate how my elementary school doesn't have any school shooting drills. When I was at book club at my school, we went into lock down because a student when threatened by 3 men with guns. It was very scary. But barely any students knew what to do because we never had school shooting drills/training. And to this day, we still don't.

  • @ari_chap
    @ari_chap 5 лет назад +5

    *ALICE*
A - alert (realize there is a threat)
L - Lockdown (barricade yourself as best you can)
I - Inform (tell others of the threat and provide as much info as you can)
C - counter (fighting them directly is not the best way to do this. try and get the shooter off their aim, like throwing stuff at them. the shooter is not always expecting you to attack back, so this is important. if possible, getting a lot of people to go dead weight on them is a good option, but try to disorient them first)
E - evacuate (when it is safe, try and leave the area)
also note, if you do manage to take down the shooter, *throw the gun in the trash can.* when the authorities arrive, it let's them know the danger has been stopped.

Everything else will be said by your teacher." I don't know, but to me it's just really said that we have to explain the kids, how to handle a shooting in a school, despite that a school should be one of the safest places ever. That is just terrible and horrifiding.

If someone tries to do it by them selfs they are dead, especially if it’s a tiny 4th grader.

It was the fall term after Columbine because we had all sorts of new rules that year from no duffle bags to no black jackets of any kind. Our droll instructions was to duck and hide under our desk as the teacher locked the doors, covered the windows, and turned out the lights. It was originally hide in the closet, which is where we stayed the rest of the day accidentally.

This reason alone account for 89% of shooting that occur.
