- Taking a look at innovationin the gun industry always comes with a challenge. People will always jump to conclusions without much critical thinking. Today we discuss the Scopeswitch. The more i've used it the more my opinion has changed on it. I've actually grown to enjoy using the product and I love companys that innovate.

I'm not saying this doesn't have any practical application (well maybe I am), but I think the community response would have been so much better if this was advertised as a competition accessory.
Adjusting your scope faster is an ideal feature in literally all situations. Competitions are designed to make people better shooters in all situations. If this thing is designed for competition, it should be a great addition to anyone for any reason. The only downside I can see is the cable system getting fked up.
Would have been received better if it was 1/4 of the price

Innovation is rare in the firearms world. Glad to see companies taking chances.
Thanks dude, pretty much everyone shits on anything new in the industry. People forget that tons of people thought the Glock was shit and that a polymer framed handgun would break when it first came out. Now it's the standard. Time will tell on this one. It's not for everyone but most people who actually try it, are faster than using a flip up magnifier or using a traditional throw lever.
@AntimatterIndustries556, I hear you. I sell gun accessories myself. It's absolutely astounding how the gun community is it's own worst enemy. Nobody understands the risk it takes to develop an idea, invest $10k+'s into it, test it, line up all the manufacturing, quality control, insurance, taxes, etc to create a business to make it all available to everyone. I think all gun owners should try at elats one endeavor of their own to bring at least one idea they have to market just to see how hard it is. Because it certainly isn't easy. Lots of time and energy goes into it. So hang in there man. I'm proud of you guys and I really appreciate you taking to time to make something no one else thought about. I hate the dam throw lever on lpvs. That's the reason I just use a red dot with a magnifier. But I'll definitely add the scope switch to my kit. Cheers brah 🍻

@9thGenerationCajun 3-400 puts you in high end scope mount territory. You want more for the same price?
In the infantry ( marine corps ) we train to always having our optic on 1x. When a threat/target presents itself you will look down the optic on 1x, and crank it to whatever magnification you need, ( if any )engage, and then crank back to 1x after the engagement. I could definitely see a use for it with that SOP
Right, especially with a good magnification range 👌
If they can ensure the canines are durable and won’t fray after constant usage with sand/ dirt in the channels, I could see this being highly useful on a battlefield if they really train on 1x magnification
@kwizmo they just dropped the battery-operated version at shotshow...it weighs a bit more but has a button control system. And it can charge your other devices

I didn’t install it. It’s beyond my skill set. But the gun smiths at “The Range of Austin” loved installing it. And this was their first one.

It's a super cool concept. I really like the idea of it turning a piece into the trombone of guns. I think with enough interest in it, it'll get some future iterations and improvements.
I think it needs a generation or two of improvements and a lower price to be worth it. The concept is cool and makes a ton of sense, I think it just needs to grow and be accessible to everybody.
Agreed. I think everybody who has taken one of these out and seriously used it has had issues with it. Either something came apart, came loose or straight up broke.
It's a really cool and genuinely good concept, but it needs some iterations to ruggedize it and refine the manufacturing process+maybe economy of scale to make it more affordable.
At the very least it needs to be much more rugged and reliable. If it was bombproof, the price could maybe be justified.
@raifsevrence there is a way to make it dependable, so that it never slips again. Which seems to be the biggest problem..
The crazy thing is that a new iteration of this device might be taking shape on someone’s computer as we are watching this video.

As someone who buys mojitos in a can I can see myself becoming a victim of this product.
I think the value might not necessarily be to switch between magnifications faster, but in being able to more easily acquire targets/get an overview at lower magnifications, and then zoom in further onto your target afterwards. I feel like it can be very hard to know exactly where your scope is pointed if you go straight from naked eye into an 8x, and it can lead to extra time wasted looking for where you need to be aiming.
Yeah, that’s why I would be interested. The capability to easily keep my rifle steady on target and zoom in to PID or take a precise shot would be awesome.
Ehh, a red dot on an 8x generally does the job on that end. But this just isn’t something I’m into bc of the moving parts bits and the price.
I just use both eyes. I generally dont have this issue. I tend to find that looking at the target with my off eye makes it easier to find in the scope. I can do this with 24x power so 8 should be easy.
@@dar5647question somewhat related, but also unrelated: do you have good, healthy eyesight or do you have an astigmatism etc ?
Eye issues can cause a lot of problems with how one uses an optic. Both eyes open can result in seeing 4 or even 8 ghost images for some people.
This is for lpvos. Those are obviously adjustable, if they weren't, this do hickey wouldn't do anything. This might improve the QOL of someone who is doing hog population control and could help you in a rifle event. But for normal hunting, nah.
I could see its benefits as a predator hunter where you might deal with a lot of rapid changing distances and numbers of varmints. I do applaud the efforts, it's good people are still trying to think outside the box.
This would be great for yote hunting where I live. They can come in close or hundreds of yards out. This motion would be smoother and less noticable than taking your hand off to change your zoom.
It could be a good tool. The price point has to lower for the product to succeed long term.
I'm sure they could lower their price and recoup their cost from R&D. But unfortunately some other company will swoop in and make a damn near similar product for cheaper and potentially wash them out
short form of my comment.
A decent scope mount for a LPVO is $300+, another $300 isn't that wild when you're running a $2k+ optic on a $4-6k rifle. Could be seen as "cost effective" when you remove your secondary red dot, with mount and optic you'll spend about $700-800 right there.
@@Michaelelusimagine paying $700 to adjust your magnification lmao
@@fiction402 I gather that you might not have fired a rifle or perhaps don't grasp the mount's function. It isn't crafted for deer hunting. Instead, its role is to enable rapid shifts from 1x magnification to your optic's maximum level, streamlining engagements across the full spectrum of your LVPO. For those to whom this pertains, the cost isn't typically a primary concern.
I think it certainly has it's application and it's a cool concept. Either way, it's a great example of innovation for this industry and I hope challenges others to improve on it.
It's Patent Pending. I doubt anyone outside of the soon-to- be Patent holder will be able to improve it.
The part where he says "cool its just a wacky teenager" theb cuts to hammering off 5 shots or so got me 😂😂
You giving your handguard the lefty treatment had me dying! I am in the middle on the scope switch. I think its a cool piece of engineering for sure. But I dont see a big application for civilians like you said. I think the biggest learning curve might be remembering what direction zooms in/out and thats another thing to have to train. And it takes up the space where most people like to run a tape switch.
As a current SO ranger, I wish I had this in my many conflicts at seige of Shanghai, caspian border, and in operation metro.
Hahaha
I could see that being awesome in some hunting situations. For example, we do a lot of deer drives. It could be a 5-300 yard shot, with only seconds to ID and get a shot off in a shooting lane.
Thanks dude, stoked to get some pics of guys using this to take a deer or elk.
I think it is an interesting solution to a unique requirement, I also think this should be considered a gen1/open beta/prototype product and I think future iterations/newer technologies will refine the tool and broaden its appeal.
The one thing I’ve always loved about the channel is the opening sequences of completely ignorant hero shots. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm already stressed enough about an lpv0 failing under extreme adverse conditions. PERSONALLY I can't justify any weapon or mod that isn't he'll and back worst case scenario ready and tested. I do think it's neat as heck and wanted one badly when the first came out.
Hey dude, I can appreciate the concern. We actually spent a lot of time making sure it was durable. Check out our drop testing or if you want a 3rd party perspective watch Sage Dynamics drop tests on the Scopeswitch.
@@AntimatterIndustries556 after this video people are going to be concerned about mud/dust/sticks/concrete bits/ and more dust effecting the adjustment rail. Also wires catching on brush, rebar, kit etc. He should have installed the dust cover lol. Like many I'm looking for any reason to not want it and save my money. Consider assuring people about the reliability of those 25 or so screws never loosening w/ loctite after x amount of rounds. Thanks for reply, very cool product. Ps. So many videos drop their products. I think exposing them to a nearby "rapid kinetic expansion" would really sell it.
so it's like a remote follow focus / zoom lense - esque thing, pretty neat, looking forward to how that technology expands into the rest of the optics tech industry
Free patent idea for anyone who wants to make a rev 2: configure the pulley system so it can be actuated with your forward index finger. Picture a vertical foregrip with a pulley 'trigger' just forward of it. The total travel will be less, so the relative sensitivity would be greater, but it would be more convenient. I'd rather gently pull my left index finger in to adjust the scope than slide my entire hand down the handguard. It'd be a little more mechanically intricate, but it should be doable. Might need an extra pulley/linkage, though, to get connect it all from underneath the handguard.
Something electric with a trigger at your foregrip?
"You are your own person." Thank you Micah, I needed that today.
It's definitely cool, curious as to how it would work with a vertical grip. I'd never pay $700 for it though, maybe at most $300

As a flux raider and edc TQ owner i love what those guys do, i just see this product as super niche. I dont have any use for it but I’m sure some people do,obviously the desire to swap from 8x to 1x is there hence offset red dots. This is just another option of that imo.
I was thinking of some kind of spring loaded throw lever, you crank it up to max mag.and then hold a button to go back to min mag.,let go of the button to stop anywhere.
Other people are talking about a motorized scope switch, it could be smaller.
Idk for the same money you can throw an rmr on a 45 mount and buy beer 🤷♂️
Its price point is kinda high, and I'd worry about it in sandy gritty environments. That being said its really cool, and a lot of things improve with further revisions so I have high hopes for it in the long run.

Before hearing your thoughts.. I really like the product. Only downsides for me are weight ( really not that bad ) and price. If it were about $300 I would jump on it, but for the price its listed at, I am waiting for the electronic version.
Good point. A lot of 7075 lightweight optic mounts are $300 but this does more and believe me when I tell you it's way harder to manufacture due to the moving parts. We are trying to cut costs. Thanks for your feedback my dude.

Just occurred to me to compare this to a 45 deg red dot for target acquisition while keeping the scope at max power. Probably about the same price as a red dot/mount vs the scope switch
yes, and about same weight
If you use the red dot as the main optic for 1x rather than the lpvo why run an lpvo then?
@@dylanwatson8468 because one might still need 6/8/10x etc. This product is addressing the application where one would be need to rapidly acquire a target at long distance. Using the lpvo and being able to not break sight picture going from 1-max power by way of the scope switch can also be done by using a offset red dot. Different tools to do the same thing
@@dylanwatson8468 for weird situation when you dont have time to flip it back to 1x
@@eddiepeel exactly. I see the benefits but if you’re not going to use 1x use a scope that has a better eye box and glass over an lpvo that compromises so much to make it a 1-10. I can see the scope switch being more useful with a 3-18 style scope as the difference of magnification are greater than having to go from 6x to 10x and still just using the offset dot for close anyways. Just my thoughts tho. Run what you can use the best.
Finally, a YT video that uses the whole screen on my huge phone
This would be horrible in a combat scenario, as every time you change your optic zoom you’d be obligated to scream “OMAGAWD AMBATAKUM” and totally give away your position.
This is my new favorite channel since Carnik Con. Keep up the amazing videos.
Friday is a day I look forward to for Micah's videos!
Absolutely the biggest advantage is the seamless transition from low magnification for spotting to high magnification for observation or shooting. Potentially great for hunting because there's no trying to bring the sight picture onto target, you just zoom in, and the rail space isn't competing with lights and lasers on a game rifle.
From someone whos only monitor is an ultrawide, Thank you. The viewing experience was *chefs kiss
I think the only flaw with it is that you slide your hand back towards you to zoom. Wouldn’t it have made more sense for them to orient the mechanism to zoom when you slide your hand forwards so you can stabilize your rifle as if you’re doing a C-Clamp?
The ending crying alone in the woods stroking your gun gets a thumbs up. Way to share your vulnerable side with us.😂
I have one, here are my thoughts:
I had to completely change my rifle’s setup to accommodate the rail space that the scope switch takes up. My vertical fore grip came off and will be replaced with a small stop at the end of the rail for shooting from barricades. My pressure pad came off - first I tried mounting it on the side of the rail, but having anything on the rail with the lever will make it harder to use the lever for the scope switch, so I ended up moving my light to the left side of the rifle and using an Arisaka mount to put it at 45 degrees so that i can still operate quickly with my thumb. With the light on the left, I also had to slightly change my sling mount location.
With a Vudu 1-10, it was somewhat difficult to use at first. Some funny squeaking plastic noises. After some break in, some lubrication between the thumb stop and the rail, and taking everything else off of the rail at that point, it’s pretty easy to use.
It’s definitely nice to be able to zoom in with my eyes on target and my grip in place. For some longer shots, I do end up moving my grip to a different location to stabilize the rifle anyway.. so in those cases it’s not that helpful… but still it feels more natural than a throw lever.
The one thing I worry about with this setup is the rail space. It’s definitely more challenging to make sure I get a good setup, but with some thought and experimentation, I was able to get a setup that I feel is very functional. I don’t use nightvision, but if/when I do in the future, I’m probably not going to try to mount a pec onto this rifle with the scope switch.. but that’s fine for me, I feel like if I’m using my night vision, the other team is probably using it too.. and in that case I’m not going to be using a laser.. I’ll just get a white light with vampire mode.
Does it bother you that the way you zoom in is to slide your hand closer to you instead of outwards which would give you the ability to c-clamp it to stabilize your rifle?
@@Callsign_Kishin For me, the extended arm c clamp grip is most useful to control recoil during fast follow up shots, which is usually at closer range. If I’m zoomed all the way in, I’m probably not going to be shooting as fast anyway, and C clamp isn’t necessarily the best grip for shots at distance. Still, when I zoom in it’s more of a mag well grip, which isn’t really ideal either. It’s not perfect in terms of grip, but honestly I’d rather have the extended C clamp when I’m shooting at closer range
"do I NEED this?" Do you need the optic? Did you need a sling?
Accessories and tools to aid in your shooting only have 2 questions to answer: can I afford it? will i use it?
I don't see a purpose for self defense, sure. But it's hard to argue that it wouldn't be nice to have in certain types of competition, or while hunting.
I see the ability to keep your hands in a shooting position while you adjust magnification as a huge win
u may not see this but you could always put some vinyl or something over the griptape and make sure its on tight so the grain pokes through for some grip but doesnt destroy your hands
Can u still manually adjust if it goes down?? Idk if I’d use it but It’s cool, and has uses so 👍🏻.
The intro gave me a smile. thanks Micah Mayfield. +reputation
There have been a few times I wished I had something like this for deer hunting. When stalking/approaching your stationary firing point through deep woods you want your scope on the lowest power. But if you spot something across a large clearing you want to quickly ramp it up to 8X as you bring the weapon to your shoulder. Also, in reverse; sometimes you forget to dial it back down when you enter heavy cover. I'm guessing a battery-powered servo-driven version integrated into the scope by the optics manufacturer is ultimately the better answer.

Food, shelter, warmth, and security. Gotta be able to hold on to the first three.
The way one of my uncles has his deer stand set up, he has visibility at two crossings. One is at about 30 yards, and the other is at about 260. I could see this being useful for that. If they were about half the cost, I would consider getting one for when I finish setting up my AR-15.

It's good to see Optics Planet sponsoring videos instead of restocking their shelves
Love the new channel. Keep up the good work man.
Sounds neat but at that price isn't it just better to add a red dot? No need for a $700 switch to switch between 8x and 1x if you could just add a 1x.
Thanks for filming your videos in ultrawide. Not enough guntubers do this, and it looks amazing.
After watching this video I see this as a good start. Lots to be improved upon and I’m sure Antimatter Industries has recognized this.
Yeah, there's lots we've learned since release. Always looking to improve it and make things stronger, lighter and cheaper for the customer.
Micah I love you too, and your videos are amazing dude your definitely cut out for greatness in the guntube realm and probably more realms as well keep up the good work 🎉
As a 3 gunner, yes, this would be cool, it would be able to replace the offset dot on my Open rifle and also make it much easier to get a sight picture at low mag and then zoom up to the magnification I want on each target on a stage without having to reach back for the mag throw lever or lose the target with the limited FOV at higher mag. That said, I don’t plan on buying one, it’s expensive and until I see multiple competitors adopt it and use it successfully first, I wouldn’t shell out the money while it’s not been tested.
If you make a patreon, the first bonus content you should make available is a 10 hour loop of you sensually yet vigorously operating your slide switch while maintaining perfect eye contact with the camera.
Solution to a problem that doesn't exist. That being said, I applaud the ingenuity.
I love mine..novelties aside I would've bought it alone for that..prestige and I'm on the limits of what's being produce. I have a 3 gun course in my back yard. You hit the rapid re acquiring helps. The other thing I like is that you don't have to remove the support hand to zoom
I AM in the MIDDLE Micah! Micah in the middle I am!
I love the industry innovating and I bet something better will come from this but this to me has more competition vibes to it
I hate youtube compression so much. Beautiful shots dude
A very niche rifle accessory, but it functions. Only way to evolve forward is to innovate no matter how silly the innovation is.
I was wondering when someone would start looking for solutions to change magnification without taking your offhand off supporting the rifle
Took someone long enuf, might not be the best or most practical, but seems better than taking your entire hand off the handguard to change magnification
Micah releasing an ultrawide video is something I didn't know I needed. Ultrawide chads stay winning.
Micah, I really appreciate your dedication to the Chad 16:10 ultra wide aspect ratio. very nice
Awesome opening shot for the video, very cinematic with Micah's hair glistening in the sun
Imagine you have a target 400 yards out, then see another 20 yards to the left. Instead of hunting for the other target at max mag, you can zoom out and zoom in post acquisition. Could be awesome for any long distance hunting.
would make sense on a hunting rifle (like a mad pig lever gun) where you may be hunting in a lot of brush like in WV and PA and you want to zoom in quick to check how many spikes a deer has then zoom out quickly to check that there's no major brush or branches that will affect bullet trajectory.
As someone commented on Roger Berrera’s video it needs to go the other way. Pushing towards the muzzle to zoom to higher power so your hold is more stable when you need it to be. I’ve never seen anyone holding near the magwell in a competition
When your mom says we have GarandThumb at home... JK love you buddy. Great editing and camera work BTW
I’m a 3 gunner… I will be buying one for my competition rifle when they’re back in stock.
As someone who doesn't innovate, this thing is innovative !!!!
Fantastic intro. Cinematography and music was awesome.
Love the idea of the tech, not taking support hand off rifle to adjust magnification, but I wonder if recoil may alter/jiggle magnification.
It costs more, weighs more, is slower, and takes up more space than a canted dot. It won’t have a back up built into the system like a canted dot, doesn’t let you have the pros of both optic systems, and requires a different hand placement every time you change magnification. The last part is pretty minimal but a consistent reliable grip helps with consistent reliable shooting.
I feel so inspired after learning about the circle of works principle
Intrusive thought: follow-up/target acquisition use for hunting? Mount on off hand side of a chassis with picatinny to m-lok adapter. Could help with follow-up shots not having to lose sight picture while changing magnification & then not losing where an animal is (in theory) when taking a shot at a high magnification. Wouldn’t be my $700 on it though😬
There's pros and cons to this. I personally think it's a little gimmicky but I still appreciate the idea as we don't improve on technology without innovation.
I want it inverted push out to zoom not in
@joeyg29jgjg Wonder if gamers who like inverted controls dig it... because yeah, I would have assumed moving the slide toward the front of the gun would be for 8x.
Loving the videos man keep up the amazing work. What’s the jacket your wearing in this video. Really looking for a lightweight jacket.
I mean, anything that keeps both hands on the gun and your eyes on target is at minimum a good idea. I like the concept!
Think it’s good in theory, maybe has some niche applications. I don’t think I would personally ever see a need for it but I’m glad at least some companies are trying to push something new out
man the cinematography is stellar, also Mazda gang
I think it’s cool, for people in the competitive scene it would definitely make changing magnification much easier. If your someone who changes scope magnification a lot I think it’s worth it! Honestly I think it might be handy for long range shooters competitive or not in some situations. Ik when you are target hunting at a at competition dynamics match and find a target, reaching up to zoom In can be difficult because of your awkward shooting position, the time it takes to reach up and back down, messing up your natural point of aim because you moved. I don’t think it’s a game changer perbsay… but I think it would be very beneficial in situations where there isn’t a lot of large debris that could jam the system and if you’ll be changing magnification a lot.
Super stoked you started you're own channel. Honestly i couldn't have said it better myself when talking about the scope switch
I imagine that KY jelly will help keep it from tearing up your hand, Micah. Lubrication is important.
Lmaooo “circle of rocks with your trash is not picking up your trash” *proceeds to dump hundred or more 5.56 on the ground* love you Micah 🤣
The only thing this scope makes me think of is, someone came up with an IRL way to zoom in the way it feels in video games. I could see it being super useful in hunting and competition. Like if you see something far out and don't want to lose sight of it when zooming in to get a better view or shot.
Reveiewing weird niche, yet useful, attachments like this would be an interesting series that would go good with your style.
