I think the best metric we can use to compare rifles is how well they perform when shooting a pile of trash from 10 yards away.
You are correct sir. I believe the term in common usage is "scientific method" and trash shootin is the definition of it.
I concur. Because...science.

Love the intro. Just shows how toxic the 2A community can be sometimes.
I want another hour of that intro 🤣
It’s such a joke haha. I don’t understand why people can’t just enjoy guns. No one gives a fuck what barrel length you think is best on an ar15. So many weirdo nerds on here that obsess about the most tactical mall ninja shit. Just shoot your guns and have fun.
Sometimes? Seems like it is continuous.

Yeah its bad. We cant stick together for sh*t these days. Nothing but bashing unless your setup is ultra premium "name brand". This content is refreshing. Good on you Micah
Micah is subtly General Sam-like with the editing and background music and I love it. Love that he’s doin his own stuff.
I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing lol

@@mtnbound2764 He does a lot of video game stuff.
They perform different jobs, one is a lightweight "recon rifle" and the other is a relatively heavy SPR, it's ok to love two different rifles
They perform whatever job you want the to perform. The Vudu can definitely be used in a Recon role and an ACOG can be an SPR optic. Unnecessarily harsh distinction.
@@borkwoof696A legit critique, to be sure, and I'm 100% in agreement in principle that both are fantastic.
...but since this is the internet, I'll 'critique the critique. We're at a point where the AR15 is such a finely honed (developed... whatever) platform that any optimization is going to be a matter of degrees.
As in racing, however, at the peak of performance, tiny differences start to feel magnified and personal preference starts to take an outsized role. I guess where I'm going with this is that while both are fantastic, the differences will make a difference to the role and to the shooter's preference.
Entertainment value is 💯👍
@@prelude2tubehaving raced RC cars, the same concept was viewed, the cars were all finely honed to perform a job the little changes made by individuals truly only enhanced their experience and were not a universal truth for all.

Everything is a compromise. There’s no perfect setup. However, I dig that ultra light setup that’s still capable of intermediate distances with relative accuracy speed on human size targets.
While not a “perfect” setup, I think the GPR is probably the best jack of all trades. 14.5 barrel, 1-6 LPVO, off set dot, can and lights. Guess what I built 🙃 if I had to leave the house and take only one, it would be this one.
@@TheSickjits I run the sesame setup. A 14.5” URGI and a razor HD-E 1-6. Out of the 16” guns he had I’d rather have the lighter easier to wield setup.

On a patrol I would choose the ACOG build every time. The LPVO build would shine in static positions. Both builds are awesome and both would work for either scenario. Personal preference in my opinion

I have 2 very similar builds, and I find myself equally torn between the two styles/feels. Super light-weight low-profile with an ACOG, and a heavier gucci'd out 1x10LPVO set up that I find my shot counts and range time being equally split between. Good to see someone else struggle with this delima. Good video all-in-all
I have a poors version of this: Holosun 510c + 3x magnifier, and $300 Primary Arm 1-6x LPVO. Both work and I like both.
same here.. love them both, but if i could only choose one, it would probably be the lighter one.

pretty sure Micah is a Marine veteran
As Micah had stated multiple times throughout the video, “they do the same job, but in different way” so rather than one being better than the other, use the rifle’s as they are intended, it’s all situational dependent. Keep up great work Micah!
but if you could only choose one!
Honestly I'm in the same boat as you. I love firearms so much that it makes it impossibly hard to choose what type of build I like best. Then again, I'm a broke guy with a PSA AR and a Vortex Strike eagle LPVO 1-6. I tend to run a minimalist setup as far as rail additions to keep the weight down. I have no issues regarding accuracy out to 500 yards. (When I'm on point) I tend to lean a little more to the light weight setups. Mainly due to the fact that my left arm has screws and a plate in it.😂 Makes it a lil tough to shoulder the chunkier boi's.
your setup is fine. It's 98% of what a $4k build is.
Me being jealous with a PSA sportin a Holosun RD...
3 sponsors? It's awesome you are getting that much support
Different rifles for different roles man. If you were doing work from vehicles in a wide open area like the PNW or great plains, the heavier rifle with more capability mounted on it is a great option. But if you're humping it through the Appalachians, having a sub 8lb rifle means you can carry more ammo/suatainment. Plus with the lighter rifle, you can put more capability on it and end up with a lighter weapon overall. It's all give and take, but I honestly think that the lighter setup gives you a more general purpose carbine over the heavier setup.
Entertainment you have achieved. Keep em coming Micah
Micah I didn’t know you had your own channel! Fuck yeah dude I love it. And the background music too. All us skater kids/edgy mfs grew up to be gun guys and I’m here for it 😂 love it bro.
Micah, I think you've just become one of my favorite guntuber personalities. Right there next to Mr. Reeves.
Both of you guys just have that relaxed, naturally laidback flow in front of the camera - a real talent. Superb camera work and editing too. Great job, man.
And I think I'd have to go with the lightweight build tbh.
Visiting your channel, I now more clearly realize that you are the element that make Garand Thumb videos actually entertaining.
Gobless, hoss.
Micah: I unfortunately suffer from firearms addiction.
Me: Laying in the floor in fetal position in cold sweats waiting on new gun parts to be delivered. I know the pain!
I just watch these for the pure art of the editing that is put into each video
Your vid’s are absolutely zoink an I love them, glad your making things fun and keeping it chilled on ice
I think if you’re rucking for miles the bcm be a better boy. If you need a vehicle based rifle with excellent accuracy then the SPR is best.
That’s the best summary distinction
Eye relief and practical application are huge when designing a build. If you are using a rifle like these, you need to set aside the design until you really think about what you'd be using it for. Then build in the comfort and accessories after. With longer range in mind, I'd always recommend accuracy and recoil reduction over anything. If this is a hill rifle that you'll be luggin around a lot, build it lighter. But in the case of strictly LVPO vs ACOG, I'd always prefer variable zoom with better eye relief and sight picture, at the cost of extra weight
I also really enjoy my Bravo Company ELW with an ACOG! Like you said, hard to really explain how light it feels without actually holding the setup. It's still pretty new, but I've been enjoying it a lot so far.
Thanks for showing us these cool rifles!
I did a ELW with a LPVO
I got a 14.5 ELW mid length upper with an ACOG. Love it. Just need to add a dot on top
I've had no regrets with my AR15, milsurp block II upper, acog and piggyback holosun 507c combo, surefire light and mini 2 suppressor, B5 sopmod stock and tango down stubby. I also fully realize and accept that I couldve gotten a much more up to date, lightweight upper and a higher power lpvo to achieve the same goal. I still am perfectly fine with my setup and it has advantages and disadvantages compared to lighter setups. If it works for you and the parts are quality, no reason to worry about what could've been
I have to say that was a pretty good transition from the intro to the main stuff. 👍
Context is king.
I find with LPVOs that I set it somewhere between 3-5x and leave it alone because I don't like moving the magnification and I have bad eyes. Lol
Think I would go acog but put an rmr on top of it. Use the RMR as first line of sight/heads up shooting plus NV passive aiming while use the acog for longer more accurate shots. I don't mind having to duck my head down and nose to charging handle since when I shoot long Im usually prone or crouched and want to get nice and low to the gun anyways to expose myself less when training.
these videos actually make me so happy. thank you!
Love your videos! Great job, I agree with some of the other comments. Both are great options for specific roles. I suffer from the same issues, too many options. I have 2 truck guns at all times, an SBR ( for quick and close ) and an 18" scoped heavy boy for longer range.
"Dang bro, you waited 9 months for your can, and it wasn't tested by Pew Science?!?" LMAO!!!

@@possumpatrol45Lol yeah
I think you did answer your question when you asked the question what do viewers think. One can claim this one rifle is the best rifle. But two of the biggest things come into play when choosing or building a firearm. 1. (Most important) “Mission”. What are you doing, where are you going, how long are you going for, what are other considerations that may effect your mission (METT-TC but for civs).
2. The second most important and final thing is Shooters Preference. What is comfortable to you, how do you like your build. What are things you are willing to comprise.
When building a weapon you build it to yourself. But you build it for a specific mission in mind. Whether it be shooting yotees, Point a to b missions, home defense, hunting, Recon, and the list goes on. You are building your weapon based on a role your want to fufill. As an outsider looking in, I can make recommendations. But that doesn’t mean that it would work for you.
Micah is doing the Lord's work out here.
My BCM MCMR upper is my favorite upper. That said I'm running a 1-6 lpvo with a 45 offset 507c RDS. Its fast up close and more than accurate enough at distance while still being relatively light. It's kind if a hybrid of these two.
Your content is fun & a great break from all of the super technical GunTuber videos that take up most of the RUclips space.
My SBR is a “heavy” 11.5 Colt EPR upper with that centurion rail and I love that thing!
That's a tough call. I'd personally go with the ACOG. Having that light build would be amazing if you're actually out fighting all day.
Lift more
@@jimmymartino5433 no
@@jimmymartino5433idiots on the internet who's say this never taken to account momentum. You could lift more and a lightweight rifle would still be better because of the lack of momentum. Think about putting a bigger engine in a lightweight sports car versus putting that same large engine in a heavy pickup truck. The sports car will be better performing and be faster. Same thing goes with gear, take somebody and get them to their maximum strength potential and then give them lighter gear and they'll perform better, be able to go further and last longer.
@@M14Jeepyup if I need to lift 10 pounds 1000 times or 13 pounds 1000 times I’m going to be consistently faster with the first one no matter how strong I am.
Love your carefree demeanor. Much more entertaining and pleasant than few others trying to portray as a "BAMF." Looking forward to many other contents.
There's something to be said about a super light rifle. The reality is that if you were in the suck, light is king. You also want simple ease of use, and the acog is great for that.
But then there's always the SPR setup, and I have one of those, too. It's important to know what your intended application is, and there's nothing wrong with having stuff like that.
If you can only have one gun, I think the BCM is it.
How do I like a video twice?? Great video my man. Made me smile that you’re doing your own channel and putting out high quality content from the start.
Anyone ever tell you you look like Micah from Garand Thumb?
I literally do not care what other people say when it comes to rifles and gear. I pick pieces that I personally agree with but generally don’t listen to the crowd marketing. The other day one of the range guards at my local gun range kept giving me the oddest advice about my LPVO making my gun to heavy…its 9.3 pounds total lol. Love the content!
Unlike other Acogs, the Acog TA33 has great eye relief.
but its heavier and longer...
@@hambone950 compared to what? It is only 6.1" and 7.7 ounces...making it a very compact optic
@@APBT-Bandog so you have your ta33 weighting in as the same as a ta31 with an rmr
@@hambone950,
No. I have a TA33 weighing in at nearly 3 ounces LESS than the TA31 even without an RMR, as the TA33 is 7.7 ounces and the TA31 is 10.5. Add an RMR, which adds 1.2 ounces more to the TA31, and the TA33 is now a full 4 ounces lighter in weight. If you question any of these stats...research it for yourself...as these numbers can be found by just typing in the optic and weight into the google search engine.
Yo how did I just find Micah’s Chanel. This is my new favorite Chanel. I’m here for it. Best content on RUclips!
I'm a bigger boi and I don't mind the extra weight (as long as it's balanced) especially when I have a nice sling (I use the warrior poet society sling) I use a PSA AR so once I burn up the barrel I'll be good enough to upgrade to something fancier
Is it the Jedi Buckle? I also have a Jedi Buckle WPS sling. I have two Tier 1 Citizen bungee slings. The first sling I ever got was the Ferro Concepts Slingster sling(s) that is still my favorite style.

I like the lucas acog gun the most. I’ve got a 14.7 set up very similarly. Its easy to use from point blank to 500m
I was stunned by the intro and then I read the name of the channel. Makes a lot more sense now
I'm not able to shell out the dough for multiple kitted out rifles, so I opted for a 13.7 GPR with 1-6x LPVO and a light. I see the merits of the ACOG on paper, but $1000+ is too much when there are so many other great optics on the market that provide better value.
The latest revision of Primary Arms prism optics are freaking fantastic. They are ACOG killers for a number of reasons. Priced well below 1/2 a ACOG with much better eye relief, better field of view, lighter, no fiber optic bs for lighting of the reticle, many mount configurations included, glass clarity is 98 percent as good, and much lighter weight!!
@@bryanduchane2371BAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
@bryanduchane2371 You're correct, they're awesome. Very under rated. I used an acog in the army for years and I have PA prism on a 12.3 and its way better
@@nathanleonard2245there’s no possible way y’all aren’t bots or trolling
This is super relevant. I separated my rifle venn diagram by embracing the SPR role on a 20" rifle by going with a 4-16 optic while keeping an ACOG or 1-8 LPVO on a 16". Still some overlap but less duplication.
0:14 dudes that wear night vision do what??? Bruv that’s crossing the line
I'm a CT guy, who built a very similar BCM lightweight ACOG carbine. I ablsolutely love that 7.7 pound sportscar. Since we don't need to shoot past 400 here pretty much ever, It's perfect.
I feel like it would come down to personal preference at that point. For home defense I have a miro red dot, with a flashlight on a 16". Super light super simple for keeping my home defended. I think if I was engaged in longer ranges I'd prefer a little more weight
That sounds like what I have for my HD AR too. It’s a build of Spikes lower and a pencil barrel with DD irons and a Holosun 510C and an Olight PL-Pro Valkyrie. I just put on my Warrior Poet Jedi Buckle sling.
Home defense AR’s in 16” should ALWAYS BE .300BLK/AAC because it maximizes the cartridges full potential without being 18-20” s….It’s also a .30 caliber projectile with the same number of rounds as .556 with more led per shot and also easier to suppress and can run 200+Gr subsonic’s thumpers or 110gr supers and everything in between with a mag change and it’s much more powerful than .556 in the same configurations with the same AR controls, magazines and is also quieter with less flash as well! For home defense in 16” it’s .300BLK-hits like a train! Makes .556 16” for home defense an afterthought! Once you go black you don’t go back 😉👍

I like that the montage reload and shot timing are more relatable
I have a similar issue. On one side I have a clone correct Mark 12 Mod 1. On the other I have a Larue PredatAR with a Mark IV 4.5-14 scope. Both can reach out and touch someone out to 600+yards. The decision of which to take is one of mobility vs firepower ala Nutnfancy. If in a static position the Mark12 is the Bomb- if I had to hump a rifle- the Larue gets the nod.
In general, the lighter rifle tends to be the one more carried. The ACOG is probably my favorite general purpose optic because of that, especially when paired with its wide field of view. I find it hard to clarify to people through words just how much of a difference it makes when you're shooting multiple pop ups at range or even just watching multiple windows in MOUT. That being said, I love my SPR builds and recommend to get one if you are looking to increase your overall rifle skills. Even if you only have a 100 yard range available. If you have higher magnification on a 1 moa rifle, and you're not shooting 1 moa you know the problem is you. Which is great for shooters looking to improve as it eliminates/reduces as many variables as possible. For more casual shooters there is no deflection available, which I find many people blame their 3-4 inch group at 100 yards out of 1.5-2 moa rifles on the gear to protect their ego.
@Micah Mayfield During your intro I pictured you just shooting into berms..😂 Both rifles are equal...IMO it comes down to the knucklehead pulling the trigger. I imagine you put more rounds through these two rifles for this video than most do in a year. I think just from that point of view the BCM is the winner. Hell a 10.5 PSA is good for those peeps. If they actually train and shoot, then the other rifle is the winner. If they actually train with the rifle, the weight isn't gonna be an issue.
On another note..I really enjoy your channel... keep'n it fun and not portraying yourself as a SOF, CQB assassin is a breath of fresh air.
This is exactly what my two rifle setups are. Both 16 inches, but one is lightweight, and one is a quad rail with Ballistic Advantage SPR barrel.

Micah is legit a "stealth build"...i love it
Dude. You are killing it. I enjoyed every second of this. Rewound multiple times. Just great content. We just gonna need to see more of that Honda. LPVO all the way.
The key is finding something in the middle. Match capability to the general mission. In the end an extra pound or two for enough capability you feel comfortable it is worth it.
I run a 4X ACOG and an offset Aimpoint on one of my rifles and it’s pretty nice, definitely a good option.
This channel just keeps getting better. The intro was fire!!🔥🔥👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸

i love this guy i was in military and he hits all the points that being said you like what you like do with that as you will
They both serve their own purposes and they are both beautiful
The area you live in makes such a difference between the purpose of the builds. Personally, i have found that in my relative area, that being Appalachia, I have little need for an LPVO with more than 6x, and truthfully 1-4x will do just fine. In my opinion, this area does not have the sightlines to justify that size of optic. Dense woods filled with vegetation for a majority of the year makes it hard to stretch the legs of those optics unless you have a 400+ yard range that's maintained and not overgrown. Im also talking about practical everyday applications here, not just SHTF. Rarely does a hunter here take a shot longer than 75 yards on a game animal due to quick elevation change and lack of sight. Hill top to hilltop is often the longest distance you have, and you cant see below the canopy of the trees to get a good identification. I fall into the camp of a red dot with a magnifier. I have some magnification for PID, and im comfy taking shots at my range that are ~225, and a 3x magnifier is more than serviceable out to 400, if you have the muzzle velocity and the shooter does their part. I also like having the flexibility of quick detach on the magnifier.
You're the only channel I've seen mention the benefit of a high mount optic other than night vision. I don't own night vision but have all high mount optics. Because I can shoulder n shoot.
Man this intro reminds me so much of Garand Thumb, it’s great

Hey Micha congratulations on your new baby 😃.
Congratulations on the new member of your family.
If I had it to do over, I'd have built one 5.56 rifle in 14.5 Midlength running a US Optics TS-12 (18 oz 3-12x scope) and a top mounted dot.
The only con to that rig is a lack of illuminated reticle in the scope.
Having the ability to crank up beyond 8x magnification in such a lightweight optic makes it worth it, imo. Especially with the true 1x dot over it. I'd probably opt for a Streamlight ProTac, and not much else.
Cousin Micah dropped some heat with that intro..
