It's these kind of plays that you see how great a game baseball is. When players keep their heads in the game, it's a very strategic and involving game.
Ok
Yeah
30 teams in MLB, each having a 163 game season averaging 3 hours (180 minutes) per game and they still had to go back 25 years to get 6 minutes of baseball highlights.
Yeah, all 3-4 hours, you're on your seat between their commercial breaks and standbys. So exciting, I can hardly contain my excitement so much I have to close my eyes and imagine I'm somewhere else.
@@sws212 - I get it. Baseball is not your sport & that's fine. And I'm 70 yo so I'm guessing we are from different generations. But a lot of people see the intricacies of the game that eludes the casual viewer. With an 0-2 count a pitcher should never put it over the plate. Position players should never make a mental mistake. Always run hard, because something good can happen if you force a throw. Hitters need to combat the shift by playing smart ( a power hitter laying a bunt down the 3rd base line )- etc.
3:24 this was hilarious
1:35 was great too. they were both laughing.

0:56 Coach walked over to him like "Alright son, this is basic baseball 101 always stay on the base!"
I would’ve told him always keep your eye on the ball
Great, great plays compiled here. What I like most is the respect and comradery between the players (second base fake-outs).
and the umpire was trying not to bust a gut laughing
not sure how baseball got in my algorithm, not disappointed. I know these plays are rare but god I would watch baseball seeing a catcher and a third base guy work to get a player trying to steal home or just getting tricked.
At the 3:30 mark, I love how the pitcher squatted down as if the catcher was really throwing to second base. It really fooled the third base runner thereby getting him trapped in no man’s land.
good plays and bad plays in baseball are both fun to watch…😂😂😂😂
The legal use of deception in baseball has to be one of the coolest things about the sport. Faking someone out is different in baseball than with other sports, these guys pull off some pretty slick cons on their opponents!😎
Yet a balk is simply an attempt by the pitcher to deceive the runner.
@@sleddy01 would be unfair and not sporting, a trick. kind of like the infield fly rule, prevents dropping a fly ball on purpose in order to get easy force outs on the base paths. dekeing someone out is taking advantage of them not paying attention to the ball.
@@nowake See comment above about legal use of deception.
There's lots of faking in other sports, I think, it is less expected in baseball. Is the old potato trick legal (i.e. substituting a potato for a ball, to throw off the runner)?
I think baseball is the only sport where the defense is more entertaining than the offense.
I didn't read all of the comments, but I can't believe you left out one of the most crucial fakes in world series history. Chase Utley faked a throw to first to get the runner on third to break and then he threw him out!!! Got out of a big inning!!! Great baseball!!!
Not a baseball fan at all. But watching these highlights are starting to get my interest.
Don’t know nothing about sports but love these
Start watching and playing sports now kid
Man Baseball is great! ..miss watching it
I like decoy plays. They don't work often, but it is cool when they do. Not crazy about the fake intentional walk so much. I'd imagine that the pitcher wasn't coming up to bat in this game!!
If plays like these happened more often it would be fun to watch baseball
3:30 I love Altuve's "Oh Crap" body language on this one.
The trash cans didn’t warn him about that one
same play twice in a row.
Its good to see Ichiro again.
1:11 Tony Pena not waiting for the ump to call it 😂
Before I even watched the video, as an Orioles fan, I said to myself they better have the rookie Machado play 😎. I remember watching that game with Gary Thorne calling “don’t throw it away. DONT THROW IT AT ALL!”
It legendary when you fake out the camera man

Adrián Beltré was and is an absolute gift to the game of baseball.
That is a whole aspect of Baseball i did not knew about until recently , and that makes it a lot more interesting .

It’s a wonderful sport Mr. Scotsman

They don't break for tea.
I like how in almost all of these, the camera man gets faked out more than anybody else
I like it too It's so funny!!!🤣

Oh man, these are so cool!
Once as a catcher the situation was first and third. The runner at first started stealing and I pulled off a nasty fake throwdown and then quickly launched it down to third. I felt so good when I got him.
its a good time getting runners. i use to try and act lazy behind the plate and bait out the runner on first to steal. then id hose him.
Really funny 😄
The best fake out was by Dave Winfield during the 93 ( I think) world series. He pointed out a home run like Babe Ruth. Then he bunted! LEGEND!
I see your Winfield, and raise you Chuck Knoblauch of the Twins faking Lonnie Smith out of the 1991 World Series. Knoblauch's fake throw on Terry Pendleton's double kept Smith at third, preventing the Braves from tying the game and eventually losing.
MASSIVE FAKE KOCK USED AS A MURDER WEAPON
Lol. The first base ones are the best. Such a simple little thing lol
You forgot Joe Maur’s fake throw and tag out at home plate. Absolutely brilliant

Did that while pitching in high school once, both I and the runner at third were surprised that it worked, he was out. I had a great high school coach who taught us how to play smart baseball.
we did that same play in little league on first base pretending to throw it to the pitcher .. that cracks me up that still works
こういうの見るとやっぱ頭いいなぁってつくづく思う。
You know its a hell of a fake out when you manage to fool the players and the cameramen! You hardly ever see them lose track of a live ball with how experienced most of them are, so its really something special when they manage to juke out the camera operators...

Jon Miller is a great announcer.
@J Ygb well there won’t be that ever again
@J Ygb Can you explain me what happened here?
@J Ygb I'm totally new to baseball so I don't really know what this means. What is an intentional walk? And if they say they're going to do the far outside throw, isn't it cheating if they don't?
@@rajs4012 an intentional walk is when you throw 4 balls on purpose so the guy can’t hit, but it puts him on first base. Like if the other team’s best guy is out in ot you’ll want to walk cuz he might hit a homer
This was great to see. Excellent video.

0:24 What stadium is that, beautiful view!
PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Definitely one of the nicer ballparks.
It's entertaining to see this because a lot of these are the flip side of the "unbelievably aggressive baserunning" RUclips videos. A lot of these are the result of aggressive baserunning, and many of the plays shown in the aggressive baserunning videos would be easy outs if the fielders had done what was done in this video.

1:15 is a bwalk and would just advance the runners around the bases without getting an out. Idk if they had that rule back then though.
That was the first thing I thought as well.
I can't see where his front foot lands, but I would have to agree... Balks have been around for over a century, though parts of the rule may have changed.
If his front foot touched the ground after he raised it up, before he turned to throw to second, then this is a balk.
Once the pitcher begins his motion, he must either throw to the plate or to second base -- his little turn towards third would have also constituted a balk had the thrown, as you must clear the mound by stepping behind it with your rear foot before being able to throw to first or third.
If his front foot never touched prior to him turning (we can't see this with the given camera angle) - it is a legal throw and the runner is out.
Not a balk then. It was the old fake to third to get the runner on first to bite, which he did. Been around for decades. The only base you couldn't fake a throw to while on the rubber is first. However, it's a balk now I believe.
@@Rockhound6165 I appreciate this comment, and will have to look further into the evolution of the rule over the years. My understanding of current rules is that you can not throw to either first *or* third without clearing the mound first. You are implying this is the current rule but it was different before -- doesn't seem fair to Left vs. Right handed pitchers, and might be why it's both bases now? Thanks for the info, I'm curious to learn more.
