    Update on my injectors install-
    1- These videos are amazing, and I followed everything step by step.
    2- The drivers side is a bastard, but took my time. My lower gasket slipped and I had to rework, but that was my fault. Glad I found it before I was finished.
    3- I opted to do my glow plugs because everything was exposed.
    4- My LB7 started immediately, runs great, and I’m more confident to do more if I need to.
    You are a rockstar! Keep these videos coming!
    Thank you…

      Thanks for the update! I am glad to hear that you found my videos to be helpful and informative. Yes the driver side is a pain because of it being so much tighter than the passenger side. That’s good that you found that your gasket slipped when you did rather than after starting it up. That is a great time to do glow plugs because you are right and they are very easily accessible. There is not a better feeling then doing a job like this and having it start up right away and no other problems! Great job and shout out to you for doing this repair yourself! Thanks and I am in the process of getting my transmission rebuild videos edited and posted. Thanks for your support on the channel!

    In the trenches doing this job right now. This is the best "instructable" by far I have seen. Well done and thank you for taking the time to document this. Have you had any stuck injector cups? I just ordered the cup removal tool as I have at least one cup which is being difficult coming out of the bore. Also, fought the 5mm allen bolts for both the valve covers and return file line bolts. Had to use a torx to get the VC bolts out after the 5mm heads stripped and drill and easy-out the banjo bolts. Ordered upgraded hex head banjos and VC bolts from Lincoln Diesel as I don't want to have this problem again. This seems to be a common issue on the LB7. This truck spent 10 years in South Texas (Brownsville, TX) which means there is a lot of salt corrosion, could be a factor. Also, the previous owner was my Dad and he had injectors done 3 times by dealer so who know what they did or what bolts they re-used.
    UPDATE: Finished the R&R of the injectors, once I had all the cups out, resealed, and new hardware kit the LB7 went back together nicely. I bled the air out with by running my FASS pump and the bleeder on filter housing and the truck came to life with a rrrappp! 40 mile drive yesterday and it seems to be running well with no hazing. Thanks again for your videos.

      @MeanBee392  2 года назад

      Hopefully this job went smooth for you. Sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for the kind words and I am glad to hear that this video is very helpful for you. I didn't have any stuck cups but I also did not pull them to reseal them just only if they were stuck on the injector then I resealed them. The cup removal tool should be a huge help though. Those bolts can be such a pain in the you know what and you 100% did the right thing by ordering the upgraded hex bolts. Steel bolts in aluminum is just never a good thing and they will always corrode and get stuck. Dealers love to reuses any and all things that they can just to save money so its hard saying how many of the 3 times they could of been reused.
      Thank you so much for the update and I am glad that it all went good for you! Hopefully the video series helped you out as well. Having a FASS makes the priming process such a breeze. One thing I would say to also keep and eye on is your oil level. Sometimes if the return banjo seals leak it will put diesel into your crankcase and (make oil) but as long and your oil level doesn't rise then you are good to go. Thanks again for your time commenting!

      @@MeanBee392 Another update, truck runs great, not making oil. I made a 1200 mile r/t from San Diego to Cedar City, UT and back. Truck ran like a charm. I do have "a weeping head gasket I noticed during injector R&R but 100% unrelated to injector swap. I will be source another LB7, or pull mine out, regardless it will get new head gaskets, head studs and swapped injectors. In the meantime I did use blue devil HG sealer and it worked! No water lost over 1200 mile trip.

      @MeanBee392  2 года назад +1

      That's awesome to hear! That's a good trip and a great test run to see how it would do. That's kinda a bummer about the head gasket but if you can do the injector job then you can do the head gaskets as well. That is impressive about the blue devil HG sealer and good to know. I'de like a 3/4 ton thats reliable and can put a dump insert in. the older deisels are my favorite but I can't be fixing headgaskets and injectors unless it's a hobby truck. I had a question about TDC. How do I find TDC for the rest of the cylinders?

    • @MeanBee392
      @MeanBee392  2 года назад

      Easiest way to find TDC it to look for "valve overlap" That it when the exhaust fully closes and right before the intake opens. Both rocker arms will be loose at this point. Hopefully that helps.

  • @tenchi20229

    You also need a 36mm 12 pt socket to turn the engine over to adjust the valves.

    • @MeanBee392
      @MeanBee392  3 года назад

      You can use that but I did not have to. If you leave the injectors out the engine will not build compression and it very easy to turn over with out that socket. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🐝

    one of my high-pressure fuel lines doesn't seem to be exactly lined up, it almost feels like it's about to cross thread, but it gets on the whole way if I get it positioned right & tightens down. could this indicate i don't have the injector in the whole way, or that the injector / cup isn't seated properly? thanks

    • @MeanBee392
      @MeanBee392  Год назад +1

      Sorry for the late reply. Did you figure out this issue? I would say it could be either the injector or the cup not seated all the way down or possibly a bent fuel line. have you torqued down the injector? I wouldn't force it because you don't wat to risk damaging the threads on the injector or fuel line. If you don't mind let me know what it ends up being.

      @@MeanBee392 I literally just finished putting the driver's side back together tonight, so I haven't tested yet. I pulled the cup & injector after asking this question & redid the passenger side, and the fuel line was slightly easier to put on after I redid it, but I still had a little bit of difficulties & the line didn't line up exactly perfectly. Hoping I don't have to pull it all apart again haha

    • @MeanBee392
      @MeanBee392  Год назад +1

      Nice and I bet you are glad you just got it back together. I think that was a good call pulling it apart again and redoing it. From what you have said about it not lining up perfectly the second time but getting it back together I would say the line is just tweaked a bit. @MeanBee392  Год назад +1

      You're welcome! That's so awesome to hear and I am really glad my video's were able to help you out! You you will know almost right away. It will pressurize your cooling system and start to blow coolant out your overflow. The cup is designed to seal the cooling jackets off in the head so the injector will stay cool but is never in contact with coolant. When it is running cylinder pressure will go around the cup into the head and that's how it will pressurize your cooling system. Hopefully that all makes since.

This is the first time for me doing this, but I’ve got a friend who is a mechanic and he said for me to go ahead and just replace the cups while I’m in there I know some guys say not to, just go ahead and use them as long as they’re not bad but I’m going ahead and just replacing them while I’m in there. I want everything that you got including the new hardware. To remove the prone to strip valve cover bolts going to try the impact hand driver to break them loose. I don't plan on reusing them but don't want to screw with them either.
