Canned hams great! Glad to see them getting a little love! Love the cloves, my mom made them like that also with pineapple rings. For my glaze I use orange juice and brown sugar.
AtHomeWithAmy Oh my gosh! YES! I can't believe I have never made that connection! I guess it's because we always have it at Easter! We love that movie!
thank-you for sharing this video, this is the way my dad used to fix ham and it always turned out really good, I remember my brothers and I rarely had leftovers unless dad cooked two canned hams, and we also enjoyed ham sandwiches for just a few days
I'm English, my Granny used to slice this up cold and put it in sandwiches with pickle, it was yummy as a kid. Not sure I'd stomach it cold now though lol.x
They have an amazing shelf life! I just opened one and ate it that had an expiration of June 2015 and it was great! Most of the info I have indicates these can go 7+ years past that date if stored in a cool or refrigerated place like I did.
Looks sooo delicious! I use this basic recipe for the glaze, but I also add a bit of honey and some drained, pressed crushed pineapple, as I dice leftover ham the next night and make Fried Rice and Ham with green onion. I brown the diced ham in lots of butter and some soy sauce, then I add diced green onion and let it cook down some, next, I add two cooked bags of boil 'n' bag rice and just let it fry up some. Itis AWESOME! And a great way to use up leftover ham. The diced ham also makes great ham and cheese omelets!!!
5/22/18......My Mother used ONLY this brand canned ham & baked it just like you did. I had completely forgotten how GREAT it was. I'm going to buy my ham in the morning & fix it for tom night.... Thanks for reminding me of a long forgotten memory!
@TamiDunnthis is a great idea for the complete dinner. Some leftover ham cooked with canned string beans, some left over dressing and thick slices of heirloom tomatoes followed with dessert of anything apple including crumb stuffed baked apple. Hm m m m good.
First saw this video several months ago and now I come back to it whenever I'm craving canned ham. Personally I make my glaze with ginger ale, light brown sugar and maple syrup 'cause I like it sweet 🍯 Solid recipe, solid video, thanks a ton 👍
I score the whole ham including the sides and bottom. Also, I love the flavor of cloves too but I place them deep into the intersections of the score for deeper flavor into the ham.
I haven’t been able to get canned ham in awhile. We use to get Krakus Polish Canned Ham for Christmas. I prefer canned ham over regular holiday hams any day. There’s not fat or anything that causes waste. When sliced it’s great for sandwich’s or even using in recipes like chicken cordon blue. I understand people who haven’t tried it might not think favorable of it. Honestly, give it a try.
My mother used to only serve canned hams for Christmas and Thanksgiving and she put cloves in the points of the diamonds. And mom used the pineapple juice out of the canned rings, then she put the rings on it and we didn’t do the vinegar or the mustard but she used brown sugar and the pineapple juice. This is funny because I thought my parents were the only ones who did this. My mom made the scores in a diagonal diamond shape. We never cut the whole thing like that because it would dry out in the refrigerator and we liked thin slices for a sandwich never big thick pieces like he had. We also made toasted ham sandwiches with barbecue sauce on them in the broiler for another meal, then a pot of Navy beans with ham.
That looked very good. I love spam and in Hawaii where I'm from its very popular. Most people think it's gross too. Now it comes in many flavors with garlic and jalapeño. I'm a fan of the original :)
I enjoyed this video. Raised on homemade but never learned my moms recipe. But since I’m no cook I use stovetop but now I’m going to try Trader Joe’s. Thx&see ya😁
I'm making this along with lasagna, meatballs and pork chops for Christmas. Thanks for showing me the sauce, I would have just cooked as is I'm used to cooked bone in spiral ham which comes with a dry honey powder sauce packet but this year it's just me, my honey, and my daughter, so I'm not going to buy a whole ham. I make ham every Easter and Christmas, on Easter I serve it with homemade white cheddar Mac and cheese. Have a merry Christmas 🎄🎅🦌⛄🎁
This looks great but you gotta try corned beef fried up with potatoes mashed together, put some onions in with it too. That's what we like where I'm from!
What were those Black spikey seeds called ? .. Over here we usually have Crusty bread, slice's of Out the tin Ham, English mustard / Horse Radish (That will clear your nose out L>O>L.).... or pickle, with a bag of Crisps and a Mug of Tea Cheers John from England . .
I mix tin ham with herbs spices mix it together then baked it in shortcrust pastry , I made it up and its amazing , taste like top pork pie ,.but much better .
these canned hams are the good ones, tasting kind of like oscar meyer lunch meat ham. chopped and formed ham with water added. many other canned hams are pretty much just like treet meat (spam knock off) and not as good.
if it aint gelatinous they didnt cook it in the can ... that Jelly ... is te cooked down cartilage which makes ... JELLY ... that is HOW you know they cooked it right ... if all you get is water then all you got is water ...
yup Aluminium ... Aluminum is a trade mark name from reynolds wrap ... for their foil wrap ... they could use a proper name like aluminium so they miss spelled it and trade marked that ... which is what most americans call it ... wrongly
Awwwe fooey! I get a freebie at my grocery store soon so I hope it's as good as it looks cooked even though it's a byproduct of ham. Last year I ate it straight out of the can. Tried one sandwich & the rest went to the raccoons. 😁
Canned hams great! Glad to see them getting a little love! Love the cloves, my mom made them like that also with pineapple rings. For my glaze I use orange juice and brown sugar.
Sounds great!
Every time I see a canned ham I think of "Christmas with the Kranks" lol!
AtHomeWithAmy Oh my gosh! YES! I can't believe I have never made that connection! I guess it's because we always have it at Easter! We love that movie!
In that movie the ham was huge.

We agree!
Krakus hams are the best!! But I can no longer find them where I live. Canned hams are wonderful for your preppers larder too.
Thank you love your glaze super super easy I would do it for Thanksgiving. Thank you very much for your recipe.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for this video. Going to try this glaze today. Looks yummy!

I’ll have to try this glaze recipe!
I hope you enjoy it!
We do it with pineapple juice, a tiny bit of maple syrup and maraschino cherry juice. Same method.
living up North your accents are making me homesick. ♡
Thank you for watching! Happy Thanksgiving!
That looked very good. I love spam and in Hawaii where I'm from its very popular. Most people think it's gross too. Now it comes in many flavors with garlic and jalapeño. I'm a fan of the original :)
***** We used to slice spam and just fry it in a pan (like fried bologna).
Trivia: Hawaii is the largest consumer of "Spam" in the United States.
My mom and dad survived the Depression and WWII and they thought fried spam and fried potatoes were an acceptable meal.
Can’t wait to try it. I’ll let you know!!
Please do!
I enjoyed this video. Raised on homemade but never learned my moms recipe. But since I’m no cook I use stovetop but now I’m going to try Trader Joe’s.

We LOVE that movie!
I’m literally watching that movie right now and it brought me here too lol
Thank you for this. I just bought a canned ham today. I just found your channel and subscribed.
I don't like a sweet ham, but this vid was super interesting to me because I use Spam in my scalloped potatoes and it's fabulous!
We both grew up eating fried Spam.
thank you. we made it your way and it was great!
+Andrew Schlagler That's awesome! Thank you for letting me know!
Love Hormel chili & their ham is great too :)
Great video! It's not the prettiest ham, but it tastes very good! Great job!
Thank you 😋
This looks great but you gotta try corned beef fried up with potatoes mashed together, put some onions in with it too. That's what we like where I'm from!
Great! Mine came out perfectly, although I cooked a little longer to get more brown.
I want to try this what type of vinegar did you use? Apple cider or the regular vinegar? Thanks for sharing btw!
Just regular vinegar.
I love your video thank you very helpful.
Great video...very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Okay so I'm trying my very first Canned Ham, with the confidence from this video, here goes nothing :)

looks like the ham slice in my Army MRE. I've eaten it cold before. Guess if you are hungry.
I’ll take a plate of that!

Omg this looks so good!
Where do I buy this brand in Florida?
excellent JOB nice Video ..............
Thank you for watching!
NICE
Thank you for watching!
I would take an ice pick and punch some holes on the top so the glaze liquid could seep down in
Good idea!
This video prompted me to buy a canned ham the other day. I can't wait to try it
Pineapple slices on it is nice too.
Does the ham needs to be refridgerated if it is not opened?
You buy it refrigerated, so I believe it does.
It says keep it refrigerated on the can.
Did you say it has to be refrigerated when you buy it
It says "keep refrigerated".
This looks so good
wow looks nice ....i guess we can bake it in pineapple juice .........
good
Thanks for watching!
Could I add pineapple juice to this?
Yes 😃
Its good to bind the pork with the cloves and lime
i ate 2--3 hundred pounds of hormel black label hams almost 99% just sliced right out of the can,, my favorite NOW i can't find them anywhere
Maybe they will be out for the holidays.
That's a huge Spam!
Thank you for watching!
Mustard??????
yes
these canned hams are the good ones, tasting kind of like oscar meyer lunch meat ham. chopped and formed ham with water added. many other canned hams are pretty much just like treet meat (spam knock off) and not as good.
No Pineapple?
Not for us. :)
I'd eat it
Thank you for watching!
Cute video. Maybe dump the juice somewhere else in case of fat. Fat in sink, you know. :)
Thank you for watching!

That is incredibly old fashioned
Thank you for watching!
Never tried canned ham….looks like a huge spam.
It’s great with the glaze!
Canned spham
This is good for a canned ham.
You had me until the mustard went in...
It’s not ham, it’s a byproduct of ham.
Awwwe fooey! I get a freebie at my grocery store soon so I hope it's as good as it looks cooked even though it's a byproduct of ham. Last year I ate it straight out of the can. Tried one sandwich & the rest went to the raccoons. 😁
@@user-gr6st7ud3l LOL. Wow!
Hormel canned spam's and that ham are very salty and its not good to the body not healthy!
Thank you for watching!
Ewwwww
In a world of pretentious and boujee cooking channels I like seeing people like you guys keeping it real with the canned ham recipe.
Thank you so much!
