My middle/high school self would have been so happy. I wanted to play this game so bad growing up after messing up my uncle's original copy due to being a little kid and not knowing better. I remember waiting so long and hoping it would show up in the ps3 online store but never did. Only Suikoden 1. I can't wait; a dream come true.
1, 2, 3 and 4 all got added to the PS3 online store way back. You might have missed them. The HD Remasters will be a great experience for you! Truly magical games.
I appreciate all of your Suikoden content. I'm also a lifetime fan, still have all of the hard copies, really looking forward to the remasters. Can't wait!
Very excited to finally get a release date! I'll definitely take advantage of the free fortune and potch runes, I mean I already beat both games 4 or 5 times.
We've been waiting for this release date for so long. We're all excited! For sure, those runes will be useful to take advantage of in the early hours of the game. Especially if you get to Sarady and grab the extra Prosperity or Fortune rune there.
@@CulganValya Yeah, it is my favourite series, together with Grandia (they share the same team and composer). A bit of self-promotion, I have actually recorded 95% of its music on my channel so far.
I agree. I never liked the time limit on his quest. I've replayed the game so many times and I've only ever done his side quest once because I hate rushing through RPG's.
The biggest nitpick I still have is that the "hit" sounds in battles sound echoey in the remake trailers. BUT I'm secretly hoping that the modding community on steam will eventually sweep in and make the remasters the definitive versions over time with the best of old and new.
It would be pretty cool if they added the option to play with the new HD additions, or play the classic original versions. Don't worry, I'm sure the modders will swoop in and and make plenty of changes and alterations.
Nothing officially announced from Konami about a physical version yet, but there listings for physical versions on amazon, play-asia and some other sites, though they could just be placeholders. Konami have been pretty good about releasing their most recent games physically though. So I'd confidently say they will release a physical version.
I haven't preordered a game since Dragon Age 2... and I am tempted for the first time since 2011. And I am glad the character portraits of Suikoden 1 were updated. Normally I hate it when remakes/remasters change the original spritework and artwork, but Suiko 1's art was always kinda rough, ngl... And I am very happy the games are getting a new translation/localization. Suikoden 2 is my favorite JRPG and third favorite game overall, but man... did the characters and story suffer from "tales of syndrome" pretty bad. sometimes.. lol "We must do the thing!" "The thing? We should do that?" "Yes the thing is what we should do" "I agree, let us do the thing" "Alright everyone, if we do the thing then we will be finished" "So we will be finished if we do the thing?" "Yes. We now will do the thing and be finished" _GET ON WITH IT!_ I assume it to be quirk of translating Japanese to English too literally, XD
It's the first game I've pre-ordered in quite a while as well. Nice to see the character portraits get updated, while they had their charm, a lot of them were rough. I'm okay with the sprite staying as they are though. While it would've been nice to see them improved to Suikoden 2's quality, I have no problems with them staying as they are. They've got charm. Aye! The updated translation is going to be a very welcome addition. The games desperately needed them.
I don’t know man… the latest glimpse of the UI still looks ugly to me. Why ruin the beautiful UI of the original game??? The level ups used to be so much fun to watch! And the Suikoden font was such a signature of Suikoden! Now the menus look so static, like they are from RPG Maker…😢
I can definitely see why you don't like them. They lack the charm of the originals, but I think they're quite nice and very cleaned up. They need to include an option for the old ui for people that dislike the new one.
I couldn't care less about a fastforward button, those games are already super fast and short for RPGs. What I'd like is a hard mode or something which actually adds to the experience.
The game is easy because you already experienced before, not that Suiko is a hard series, but it's medium, I bet everybody get caught by surprise on the Luca fight where you have to gear 3 teams.
That Luca fight caught me by surprise big time on my first playthrough. I got my ass kicked. Had to reload and go level up and equip a bunch of other characters. A hard mode would be a nice addition for sure.
Don't be such a simp because they are reselling this. It was likely devs in the company that begged and pushed for this, not Konami themselves desiring it. No one needs to apologize for them being a crap company that doesn't care about their IP any more than milking them however they can. If you are baiting...well done.
So many people give Konami abuse. Konami definitely appear to have turned a corner and are starting to show real love to their games again. The Konami of today is a very different Konami from the Konami of 15 years ago.
@@CulganValya I'm glad you're optimistic, but knowing what they did with Castlevania and other IP over the years, I see it as their way of making money for their IP only. When they wanted people to buy the MTX filled Castlevania mobile as a hostage to whether they will make a new entry, the shows, I knew I couldn't defend what hopes I held in their direction. If we get something good unscathed, I credit the dev teams and heads of those specifically. I credit them for the wrong they do, but I'm not Kojima fanatic that hates them with every fiber and criticizes all they do. At lest they thought there was something to gain from doing this for Suikoden.
Save your apologies until they give us Suikoden 6. The only reason they made these remasters is cause they wanted to capitalize off of Eiyuuden Chronicle.
yeah dude, I can foresee 1 and 2 is going to be a big success and konami will try to remaster 3 and 4 but those two are horrible and flopped they will. thus clouding the chance of getting suiko 6 anyway, skip to 5 remaster pls. that's one of the best!
Suikoden 3 is actually the best selling game in the series. Selling just under a million copies. By no means a flop, but it was received to very mixed opinions by fans who either loved the changes, or hated the changes. Suikoden 4 would probably need a remake more than a remaster to make it enjoyable. I'd love a remaster of Suikoden 5, just an incredible game. Right up there with Suikoden 2!
The problem wasn't that the translation wasn't understandable, but that it was filled with mistranslations, details that were altered and completely changed in the English translations, and sometimes straight up cut out of the translation, factual errors, etc. If you want the details and the specifics. Check out Raww Le Klueze (@demonvelsper) on twitter. His entire account of over 1400 posts is dedicated to pointing out all of the mistakes in the games.
Oh no, I bet they will patch out the Matilda bug. I honestly believe hell will freeze over before Konami makes a JRPG again. I just can't see it. That's like Capcom resurrecting Breath of Fire and not messing with them to follow trends.
I really hope not. The Matilda bug is a timeless classic. Konami have turned corner and are showing a love for games again. They're just dipping their toes back in, but I can see them making more if it sells well.
@@CulganValya I hope they are seeing value again and not trying to get DEI/ESG funding. It would be a perfect time to not do what many are and giving the games how their customer wants them. That would be the most unprecedented slap in the face to companies that have gone past them with their customers being happy with what they are providing. S. Korea is taking advantage of it.
It’s not bad considering Star Ocean Second Story R remaster was $50 at release, but that game was a pretty hefty overhaul. But as you say, this is two games that are much longer.
I think it's a pretty fair price for 2 games. You've got at least 60 hours of content there. Not including multiple playthroughs for the extra endings, missed characters, hidden scenes. The game will have been in development for about 4-5 years by the time it releases. I'd say it's worth every cent.
@@Jimmy-ph8xn Yeah, they could have easily siad $60 or $70 like Nintendo without explanation. It's a retro price for two games, not one and with additions. They've never exercised censorship from what I've known, so this may actually be a real remaster with no criticisms aside pre-existing bugs. The community would have no complaints compared to other IP fans that get altered products.
@@CulganValya Yep. It's not bad at all the longer you consider it. People will replay this just for the fact they played it once and didn't think they'd do so again except the classic way. I can't see many if any complaining.
