Kinda it feels more like what battle basically is and thats you hunting down a mysterious insect monster only to fall into a ambush by that monster.
I remember on my first playthrough I dream nailed every single corpse and my adrenaline was higher than the US National debt. Then I freaked the hell out when he snapped his neck and turned into a spider.
I tried to do everything and anything I could to destroy the walls that spring up behind you
Then my anxiety was higher than Greece's debts...

I guess that's the idea (as I always saw it) Nosk is kinda just there no one mentions him he hardly has any lore aside from speculation he doesn't have any dreamnail dialogue we know nothing about him aside from what the game tells us we don't even know if it is a he there could be more Nosks and we would have no way of knowing that's my favorite thing about Deepnest it's just so mysterious.

I remember this boss “jumpscared” me on my first playthrough, I died at my first attempt so I came back here expecting it to do the animation again. Nope it just ran straight toward me and I needed a change of pants

I like the musical consistency with Deepnest. All of the songs there use a lot of string instruments, like the stringy silk and webs that litter the place
Great observation
There is only one song for Deepnest, which is Nosk. There are 2 other "songs" that play in Deepnest, which are "dreamers" and the weird spider and string noises that play in Deepnest.
However, Dreamers plays outside of Deepnest as well and the Deepnest string and spider noises aren't actually a song.
@@RushWheeler there’s also Hornet’s theme, which only uses string instruments if I remember correctly. Although she never fights you in deepnest, it is well known that she’s from deepnest so it makes sense

Legends says that Grimm, the master of Nightmares, is terrified by this theme
The way the percusssion in the background is constantly going gives the feeling of the bones rattling under Nosk’s limbs as he scutters at you through the darkness. I love it
I love the meter changes between the triplets and eighth notes too. It feels sporadic and unpredictable like nosk himself
this track is pure genius, especially the way the movements suddenly speed up in places, to perfectly represent the terrifying erratic movements of a giant insect.

Anybody else wish nosk had more of a presence in the game? Like you can only see him once outside his lair, but what if he popped around the rest deepnest a few times trying to lure you towards his lair, or maybe even at some of the entrances to deepnest.

He actually does, you can sometimes barely see him in the earlier parts of Deepnest

@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa4545 I think that's it, I only remember him appearing outside his lair and shortly before you fall into the hot spring, I like the idea you have though. maybe if you don't go to his lair and keep traversing deeper into Deepnest, you might see him around or even behind you, as if stalking, slowly getting closer and closer. It would've added a whole new horror experience to the game.

i really love the feel of the hunt that goes with this theme, and iv'e always viewed it as right in the middle, Nosk realizes that this is not easy prey, but in fact a ruthless hunter, the theme adds those extra layers to signify that the hunt has switched to a fight for survival.

I'm not easily frightened and I can honestly say Hollow Knight scared the living hell out of me. I knew nothing of what kind of experience it would be and holy Jesus it had some deeply disturbing moments. Going in blind was definitely the right thing to do. Because: FEELS! So many feels in the whole spectra of emotions. Hold it very near and dear to my heart.

Hollow knight is one of the only games I went in blind on, and I gotta say, best decision of my life. It's been 3 years since my first play through hollow knight, and it is my number 1 favourite game. Thanks team cherry

I like listening to this when I'm panicking over a deadline. Sets the mood perfectly
I love the use of triplets in this piece. The meter changes between the eight notes and the triplets is just perfect. It feels unpredictable, just like Nosk himself. The tribal drum beats in the back along with the meter changes and the unnerving chords make this track perfect for a boss like Nosk that stalks, lures, and attacks.

When I first found this boss I genuinely gasped in excitement. Just such a cool concept and such a cool atmosphere. It's so creepy, uncanny and unnatural, I LOVE IT
This is the boss that ended my first steel soul run. The most painful part is that this song kept playing on the game over screen as I sat there and thought about my actions

Funnily enough Nosk didn't just end my Steel Soul run but he ended it with assistance from a real life spider. That sneaky bastard.
The only boss in 30 hours of play that I've killed at the same time it killed me
For me the first time that happened was with hive knight. I had my weavers with me and right when I died one of the weavers hit the hive man and he died. The second time was in a different playthrough where I used Fury of the Fallen against a brooding mawlek. A deadly trade but it worked out.
For me it was Grimm, I used the adoken and he used his bats, he killed me and just after I killed him but it didn't count.

This theme really reminds me of the legendary ships in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Not in the way that it specifically sounds like that particular song, but it very much has those vibes of "Oh God what am I doing, I need to get out of here"

man, i love this boss. i heard about ti before playing Hollow Knight and thought "wow". it was only when i got the game that i forgot about its existance, though when i saw 'another vessel' in deepnest, it still didn't click for me that that was nosk. it was only when my guard was fully lowered and i was expecting to meet a new friendly NPC when Nosk jumped out of the ground and i nearly had a heart attack.

I saw him like halfway through my playthrough but didn’t find him till endgame and I started to think I hallucinated by seeing another version of my character.
I love how when your approaching him through the maze, it seems like your the hunter and he’s the pray, but when he traps you and transforms, the hunter has become the pray. It’s genius.

this theme is SO FREAKY NASDHJH i love it so much, the sounds of like tense strings being plucked keeps painting me this picture of the knight in a web with nosk running at them with the little plucks being heard with every step nosk takes on the web

Kinda disappointed that Nosk wasn't the dreamer boss but instead an optional one. It felt weird to have the Watcher Knights and Uumuu defend a dreamer but Herrah only has the fake bench and an easy maze.

It's funny how I played indie cross first when it came out. Now I started hollow knight a week ago and just battled nosk yesterday. This whole time I thought it was a bendy song so I was shocked when I heard this.

nosk is basically an apex predator, even going after the big spiders in deepnest to prove who's boss
Something I noticed is that in the song, you can hear Nosk screaming in the background. It's faint, so you have to focus your hearing in order to find it, but it's there all the same.

My favorite thing about this fight is that canonically, the Knight is without fear. No matter how afraid the player is, the Knight's reaction to all of Nosk's trickery and mimicry is "huh, neat trick. Now you're going to die."
This is the song that plays when Neuro-sama "accidentally says too much" about her being able to bypass her text to speech filter so in order to distract everyone from this horrifying truth she jokes about Vedal being figment of her imagination(aka gaslighting)
