Google did right. I don’t want to hear about Israel and Palestine when I am at work. I want to do work and go home.
I think you represent (like I do) the vast majority of Americans. Work is for work, not politics. Our attitude represents traditional wisdom that stood for centuries until the last 20 years or so.. now business leaders are discovering WHY it was wisdom.. politics from businesses makes for poor business.
College campus = you pay to be a protester; Google campus = they pay you to do your job, not to impede business and to make others feel unsafe… common sense people!!!

That's it exactly! The recruiting process is still a mess at these big tech companies. They keep highering the same type of employees and with the DEI process that they say they are enacting now nothing will change. I should be considered a DEI candidate because I am not liberal but that’s not how DEI works. It’s largely an echo chamber of the same philosophy because the managers are all that way.
I think this generation of workers are learning the lesson they never received from their parents or professors, the ppl paying you are in charge as long as u continue to work for them, you can always quit but u are NOT the boss if u choose to continue to work there, what a new concept 😂
I am sure part of the reason that Google is finding it easier to fire staff is that they realized most of these jobs were created for DEI purposes and don't actually contribute to the productivity or profitability of the company. Also, advances in AI and other systems are probably making some jobs there obsolete.

It's not 2016 and 2020 anymore. The party is over. The C-suite is realizing they need people to work, not protest, cry and be activists on company dime and time. AI is getting very competitive and Google could lose the AI horse race to OpenAI or another competitor, effectively spelling the end of their business in the coming decades. It's time to work, boys and girls, not march for BLM or Gaza etc.
Criticisms of Israel has never really been tolerated. We are told how to think about this very aggressively by the media, financial centers, and our political leaders. It’s changing, but they are resisting.
Google Cloud does business with the IDF. Go to your employers ceo office and protest one of your clients. See what happens.

Tech employment is cyclical. There were a ton of layoffs in the aftermath of the internet bubble of 2000. I've been in the tech since the 1970s and you kept your head down, did your work and kept your mouth shut about politics so that you wouldn't offend anyone. I've been through many, many rounds of tech layoffs and we're in a downturn now and you really don't want to give your employer a reason to fire you.

I've been waiting for these Activists in Google and others to be fired/laid off.
Contradiction:
1. They are supposed to be sooooo smart

They started getting involved in local politics, and started pushing for impractical ideas in a tyrannical manner (like 2 year olds making demands)
We had a city wide vote and stopped their ideas.
