Never bring an axe in a tank fight.
Soviet Soldier: "Blyat, hold my vodka comrade"
This guy and Mad Jack Churchill would make an excellent team. Mad Jack's the guy who participated in WW2 with a Scottish broadsword, a longbow and bagpipes. Madlad
How about the Finnish Defence Forces using skis to roll up on Soviet tanks and using literal logs to permanently disable them by jamming the logs into the tracks? And there were LOTS of those mad lads skiing around :D
Was jack Churchill actually related to Churchill? Well that's only if you know

Can you imagine the look on his squads faces when they came back 🤣😭 " hey guys I finished dinner, oh and I captured some Germans and a tank"
That’s why tanks never attack without the cover of infantry.
Tanks tended to have machine guns, but that too
@@titanlord9267 they still do but he broke their gun
@@titanlord9267 Indoors MG controls especially tend to cover only 1 side, to get the 360 degrees angle you need to put an mg on the hatch, which this tank happens to not have. Ivan also covers the sights (driver, gunner, and mg) using cloth found on container covers. He broke the MG after some swing and imitates chatter to pretend that there is more Soviet soldiers than him leading the Germans to thought they had walked into an ambush. Yarn hub makes a video on this if you require more explanation
Thats why dont step on Russian land
this is why the Iron Vision system is ideal.
Absolute Mad Lad! I've heard of a soldier that fought with a bow and arrow, and one that had a top hat and an umbrella. Just how many people like them were there?!

This feels like the Human Equivalent of A Kamikaze. “Sir, I’ve run out of Ammo!” “My Brother In Christ, You ARE the Ammo.”

A man with a sharp stick and nothing to loose can win the day
To become a Hero of the Soviet Union is equivalent to winning the U.S. Medal of Honor. What a man! And the astonishing thing. (as presented here), was that he did all this ...without fingers!
Indeed.
Can you start a union of mechanics (so that Communists can spy on you and then tell the king you're loyal because you have good genes)? I think you have the right sense of humor, which means that you're rare and we all need you and we need you to examine yourself in ways we can't. We want you to be the very best that no one ever was.

This takes Food Wars to a whole new level.
Seriously though…this sounds like it came straight out of an anime.
there was stories where gasoline was prone to freezing in winters. germans had to leave their tanks running overnight. once in a while you'd find soviet scouts observing their hidden spots at night. just called in 152's into that area.
Charles Upham. He used to drop grenades into tanks. When he ran out of grenades used to throw stones at tanks. Not many know his story as he was a kiwi. Won two Victoria's croses. But reports state he should have won at least 3 if not more.

@quantum_xyz I'm an American. I've always had great respect for Russia... Your culture, your people, your tenacity and ingenuity throughout history and so much more.
It's a beautiful country that I hope to one day visit after all the fighting ends and relations improve. Hopefully.

@@emblink27 Ukraine has been on my bucket list as well. My great grandparents were ethnic Germans settled in the VolhynIan region of Western Ukraine.
Well, during the Kiev Bolshevik Uprising in 1917 my great-grandfather killed 2 Chekist secret police in defense of his family, after which they fled to Idaho, USA.
So I grew up hearing stories of the beautiful Ukrainian countryside so I've always wanted to visit Ukraine, as well as Russia, tho I've recently crossed the latter off the list 👍
You know a man is battle ready or badass when he capture his enemies that owns a tank regardless at that moment...also higher IQ.
There was a polish bear named Wojtek, who was acompaniing a artilery division, and it is said that he also carried ammo around, drinkin beer and smokin cigaretes. Would be nice i you guys would look into it, and maybe make a video about him.

They already did! Search it up :D
Would love to hear that story as well
I can imagine this guy smiled all throughout these little escapades of his
The guy who took out German Tanks (including those feared Tiger Tanks) has to be a real badass.
A Russian smacking a tank with an axe reminds me about Mad Jack Churchill, a swordsman and longbowman and the myth that Polish cavalry charged straight at the German tanks when the Nazis attacked in 1939.
The winged huzzars
Goes to show what one man can do.
Audie Murphy
the Poles never had horse on tank battles, they only practiced in them
The polish army did use cavalry against tanks, but in a completely different manner. They were armed with anti-tank rifles and small AT artillery pieces they would set up in ambush, and then use the horses to rapidly change their position to avoid a counterattack.
We need a versus video pitting mad jack against this guy. It be the most even match to date who would come out on top
Love how his expression was still the berserk face holding the axe even when he was the leader of the new regiment
Ivan could easily have been the inspiration for a psychotic character in Borderlands 2 game, Krieg. He was a mad man, but a World War II hero nevertheless.
Wouldn't he be basis for TF2's demoman? That 2handed sword must be a reference.
@@EllAntares rather mad jack as he fought with a sword, he was also scottish
If there was only a movie made of this guy I would watch it because I respect him
hats off to man who manage to defeat a tank with an ax
Man, there were some true badasses who fought back in WW2. Though all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who faced combat were brave, some like Mad Jack, Lady Death and Ivan Pavlovitch Sereda to name a few went above and beyond their duties. Extraordinary people with even crazier stories...🤔

He had no rifle when he struck the tank.
He held that axe because he was unable to reach his rifle from his current cover.
He found the wood chopping axe not far behind him, and it was the only weapon he had.
He was only able to reach his rifle after taking out the machine gun, and when they were about to get out. He left it by the potato stock, and DID NOT have it in the beginning.

I can Just See Him Peering Out slowly from the Tank With a Big Smile On his face
So the actual story is that he was attacked while he was cooking by one tank and he did use an axe and rifle to destroy the machine gun on the tank and then he covered the tank with a tarp wich made it so the Germans were blind making them surrender and he held them captive till his comrades got back. Update: after watching you got 99 percent of it correct. There were 3 to 4 tanks not two.

Wow! Great video! He must be great soldier!
I would not call him insane, crazy or mad. There is a rationale to be in absolute, cold rage, when all you see is an enemy, there is no (well, _almost_ no) fear or any other thought, besides what exactly you can do, when you will reach your adversary. It's prettty liberating feeling of being in the moment, it's even sort of akin to happiness.
Ivan, Mad Jack and De Wiart.
A trio of truly Mad lads. 👍
And that's why you don't bring a tank to an axe fight.
Well the disadvantage I think with tanks are even though they are the most powerful vehicle in the battlefield they cannot attack those who are near them.
Moral of the story: Anyone in any position in the military can make a name for themselves if they try hard enough...... and given the right opportunity.
1:20 that is a genuinely good reason
I was not expecting that XD
Common sense: "Don't bring an axe to a tankfight."

Wym Stalin didn't trust Adolf? Dude didn't believe that the Ribentrop-Molotov pact was broken for some time after Germany started invading, which cost them. Like, I'm not some anti-soviet guy, I like Lenin, Stalin not so much, but still, he believed that Germany wouldn't break the non-agression pact.
They both knew well that the war was inevitable. It was about who was gonna start it. The non-aggression pact was signed only to give them both time
I think Stalin was a particular Paranoid. He belive in any posible threat but he didnt account on maddness
@@AchtungPanzerr I don't entirely disagree, but the Germans took over the USSR occupied part of Poland pretty fast, especially if Stalin was expecting an attack
