Hey richard. It would be great to do a video on when is a tree or branch finnished. Like when is a trellis finnished etc. And also a list or video on varieties and if they are self sterile or self.pollinating etc. Very informative
Ive been growing mine for a couple years and I finally saw 2 buds, I was exited AF when I saw them, I really hope they make it, they are self fertil but ill help out as much as I can to help them out
Thanks for the videos Richard. I'm new to growing Dragon Fruit and growing Sugar Dragon, American Beauty, and Purple Haze as my first ones. Thanks for the recommendations on previous videos I thought I was set with just Sugar Dragon and Purple Haze until I watched your last video about American Beauty being self pollinated so had to add that one too. Excited to get these growing.
Oh boy I started just like you a month ago now my obsession has taken a hold of me and 6 more statins show up last week, next week I ll have a golden yellow n a pomegranate cutting are on their way to add to my collection ☺️be careful or you will end up like me with 3 trellises and 1gal pots all over the place, growing roots 😉 I can’t wait till I’m begging out shoots all over, so I can trade for other strains 😊
Thanks for the content! "CFA" stands for Cactus Fruits Australia, an Australian farm, and "#16" refers to the sixteenth seedling in a batch of Desert King seedlings they grew from seed.
Darkstar has been the best grower for me. Blooms started in june and plants are still blooming. Connie Mayer bloomed like crazy but it got so hot that the plant aborted all but 2 buds. I had a physical graffiti that was really damn good. but i noticed it wasnt the typical pink color inside. it was more purple. maybe i got a mislabeled vatiety? anyway, i am adding many more varieties to the garden next spring.
I can’t wait to see the web site and maybe be on the list of one of your first costumers 😉talk to Gary about possibly selling his top pot soil and acid soil plus your other supplies. 🙏🇺🇸I started using the Mykos with all my cuttings and roots are loving it. Have you used the AZOS stuff ? It’s kinda the same but fungi are nitrogen loving ones and help break it down and make it easier for the roots to use the N. Also got my new ph probes on the way to resurrect my decade old Hanna gro check meter. My old probe just didn’t have any life left on it possibly due to severe negligence storing it dry 🤨
@@GraftingDragonFruit yea tried sourcing here on east coast, but had to make my own. It’s amazing how well it works. Won’t ever try growing in the sludge factory dirt of yesterdays past
Your videos are so helpful! My plant just made it's canopy over the trellis this year. Are these branches too young for fruit? I thought I had buds after tipping, but it looks like new growth is starting again at the tip of these branches 😢 Should I remove them?
Usually it takes at least 18-24 months to start budding. Your plants may not be ready for budding yet. Don’t remove because we’re heading into offseason
Yes, my dragon fruit bloomed later this year too. I usually rely on Vietnamese White for pollen, but it bloomed after my self sterile varieties.😢 Thank you for sharing.
I see a lot of the trellis are leaning forward due to the weight of the branches. Would it be an issue in the future that they would collapse or you have ways to fix it?
Very late season here in northern California also due to colder than usual spring. I started to pollinate beginning of September. Hopefully it stays warm enough here for the fruits to ripen.
@@GraftingDragonFruit It probably has something to do with the el nino weather pattern that we are getting, i live in socal too (long beach) and a lot of my tropicals didnt set fruit this year cuz of how late the season started, its already starting to cool down which is weird since september is usually the hottest month for us
They look amazing. I want to try the Hana variant so bad but here where I live I can't find any other variety of dragon fruits other than the one that they import from Vietnam. Do you sale any Hana cuttings? Keep up with the awesome tutorials 🙏 👍
It's been a rough year for mine. Only one flush of sugar dragon. Vietnamese white just now growing buds. Shayna had 3 buds that all aborted. AX should have started budding this year but only wanted to branch out even with floranova bloom. Lisa also should have started budding this year but was pretty damaged over the winter so I was just happy to focus on recovery for it since I almost lost it entirely. Other varieties gave less than I was anticipating as well. I think with the warm spell coming up I'm going to move them somewhere with more sun, see if I can encourage any more buds even though it's a bit late for it.
I am in North San Diego County and have budding delayed until about a month ago. They are catching up. One 5 year old plant that has produced abundant fruit before has done zero this year so far. Strange weather. Any other year-round varieties other than palora?
I just got a 10 gal. DF plant at Lowes (has 2 plants in it). The main stem is about 2 ft. The tip of each plant has two or three skinny stems (about 1 ft in length). How do i make the main stem grow taller? Do I cut the skinny stems growing at the tip of the plant? Where can I buy cuttings instead of buying more plants at the nursery which are a bit expensive?
😢 love your stuff . Having trouble getting cuttings of some different varieties . Just starting my garden . Can you help ?? Or give me some direction . Thanks
@@GraftingDragonFruit not on fb thanks for your reply . Really trying to start my Garden here in Arizona . Think there is a some trail and error in our climate . Not California that’s for sure .
How’s your season going?
I was just having a conversation with a friend over facebook about dragon fruit the other day. Now this is in my suggested feed 😂
Haha can’t get enough of dragon fruits
Rich cant wait for that web and order a few variety...
God bless

There’s a list somewhere in my FB group
Everything is looking awsome! I harvested my 1st Sugar Dragon and my son loved it 😊
That is awesome! Best feeling is when your kids love them just as much as you do
Love these tips man, thankyou so much. (A Florida DF rookie)
Glad you like them!
Love all your videos

I’d love to see the video of how you revived your sugar dragon! This summer has been hard on my sugar dragon
It’s coming soon. We just filmed it the other day

That’s a strong possibility of the mislabel.
Yea a tour!

Can you cross pollinate
Palora with purple haze
Or Any other varieties
Can you cross pollinate with everything
Write a book. I'll definitely buy.

My viet whites bloomed late also here in socal. One of the last fruits of my harvest this year.
SoCal was rough this year

Yeah the weather was so weird this year
There were 6 buds that popped up for me so late too. 2 aborted. I hope they make it. SoCal Zone10b.
Good luck!

Not that I know of. Palora is the only one I have that’s year round right now
I am having my 6th batch of buds now. Hopefully they can still have time to ripen. Just realized I have some self sterile ones.

I have some August 1st Sugar Dragons that I just harvested two or three days ago.

Very nice dragon fruits! I just picked up some dragon fruits today but the person didn't know the variety. Is there a way i can fnd out the species?
It’s pretty much impossible as there are hundreds of varieties

Hi Richard, why do my dragon fruit flowers not have pollen? Bees suck it all?? I cannot pollinate. Lots of Flowers but felled off.
That’s a possibility if you left it unprotected or didn’t get to it when it bloomed first
I want a big dragon fruit and sweet what type dragon plant do you recommend
Watch my latest video on dragon fruit tasting
How tall is your trellis measured from the ground to the top?

Are you in San Diego?
I’m in OC
How do I thicken up my branches, some of mine are very skinny.
Try tipping the branches. Take a look at my video on them
