Swan Song with the Chopin intro really showcases their talent and is really a master class by Haruna who IMO is the bigger master of her instrument. This track Judgement Day probably has the loudest bass mix in their catalog. Midori and Miyako , M&M you may see the short hand version, are up there with any of the great dual guitar teams ever. If you want to see them show off Signs of Deliverance, or the audio only track off Judgement Day "Victim of Time". VoT the whole solo section is twin guitars and is nuts.
If you want to know the young bassist Fami, you should listen to her distribution video [alien alien Bass cover]. (I think you can find it quickly if you search) I think she was 17 at the time (20 now). At that point, I think she knew she was a complete bass player. ---------- from Nippon *It is a sentence using Google translation. I hope I conveyed my intentions correctly.
Musicians in Japan have taken music to another level. Whether it is rock, metal, metalcore, pop, or jazz, it is all a step (or two) above most other bands in the rest of the world.
I would suggest another great young Japanese bassist Juna Serita. She is an extremely talented funk/jazz bassist, and you can watch her journey in attempting to master new instruments on her YT page (drums, guitar, sax, piano). Take a listen to her live version of her original "Hunter" ruclips.net/video/MjV1ujJatcQ/видео.html with some members of the Japanese Jazz supergroup 'Jazz Avengers', which is full of top young female talent. Their leader, drummer Senri Kawaguchi, isn't in this performance, but she's another world class musician from Japan. Jazz Avengers', Juna Serita and Senri Kawaguchi are all worth a listen independently, but the main bass line to "Hunter" is one of the tastiest I've heard in a while.
Baccus Guitars: This is a brand of bass guitars located in Japan. This product is also famous in Japan. I think Fami uses some Bacchus products. (She won the Bacchus signature model at a young age.) Fami just joined LOVEBITES about half a year ago, so the LOVEBITES songs she is performing are about 10 songs included in "Album: Judgment Day". There is a surprise no matter which song you choose. Before Fami joined LOVEBITES, her predecessor Miho was active as a bassist. (Many people will explain the history of the band.) If you are familiar with metal/rock, it may be certain to listen to the songs they cover in order to check the power of LOVEBITES. (There are two songs covered by LOVEBITES) *Eagle Fly Free (Helloween cover) * Painkiller (Judas Priest cover) ---------- from Nippon *It is a sentence using Google translation. I hope I conveyed my intentions correctly.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” ruclips.net/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/видео.html The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” ruclips.net/video/99zsH6iG_6c/видео.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” ruclips.net/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/видео.html, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: ruclips.net/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/видео.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: ruclips.net/video/lXh_uMM94jU/видео.html; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: ruclips.net/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/видео.html. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” ruclips.net/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/видео.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" ruclips.net/video/Brmoln5Gxus/видео.html This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" ruclips.net/video/hLFelI93VkM/видео.html "Glory to the World" ruclips.net/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/видео.html "Winds of Transylvania" ruclips.net/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/видео.html. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!
Great read!! Thank you for the lengthy info. As I said, one of my favorite parts of doing these videos is how much I learn from the band’s fans, and how much insight it provides about the band. 💥🤘🏼
this band has no peer. after founder and bassplayer miho left on friendly terms (august 2021 it was, I believe), they went into a hiatus and were looking for a new bassplayer in an open (for appliciants of all gender, nationalities, age or status -pro or amateur-) audition in three stages. fami was chosen at the end (I highly recommend her channel for some insane bass chops). I also would recommend like the dragonlord the "stand and deliver (shoot em down) official music video with fami and the others in casual wear having fun. all other recommendations are very good too, this band simply doesn´t know, how to write a bad, mediocre or stale song.
Well, thanks for reacting to these insanely talented ladies. 2 quick things: 1. they are not just “power” metal, ‘cause they have also thrash/speed/classic metal songs. 2. They are even better live (the Zepp Divercity concerts in Tokyo are the best) This rabbit hole will be full of surprises 😉🐺🤘🏻
Aside from her signature Bacchus headless bass, Fami also plays a Freedom Custom Guitar Research Rhino 5st bass in the video. F.C.G.R. is a small very high end maker from Japan. Fami uses the F.C.G.R. bass in the Stand and Deliver video.
Great reaction video dude. I've been a Metal-er since I first heard Metal in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High (the first two Metal songs I ever heard were Haunting The Chapel by Slayer and Ride The Lightning by Metallica). Back then there was no such thing as "power metal", but instead from the early 80's through the late 90's Heavy Metal had only 6 TRUE subcategories of Metal, which were: 1 - Heavy Metal; 2 - Punk Metal; 3 - Speed Metal; 4 - Thrash Metal; 5 - Death Metal; 6 - Black Metal. That being said however, I'd also like to point out how Lovebites takes the influences of early Speed and Thrash Metal bands from that time such as Slayer and Metallica and Iron Maiden and Helloween and Testament and occasionally a hint of Bolt Thrower (as well as many other bands from back in the early decade of Heavy Metal), and while giving respect and homage to those bands and other musicians of other genres who helped influence/inspire them also added their own sound/style into the mix and produced their own unique style of music. If you want to hear more Lovebites (and also hear the difference in the style of playing the Bass between Fami (their new Bassist) and Miho (their original Bassist and the Co-founder ot the band) I'd suggest the live version of Set The World on Fire. But regardless of my opinion, again great reaction video dude. Oh and by the way, you just got a new subscriber.
Miho, the original bassist, is also fantastic, though she has a different style. One of the first things I noticed the first time I heard Lovebites, as a bassist myself, was that Miho was playing fingerstyle at these insane tempos that would have most metal bassists using a pick. Her playing fingerstyle makes sense, because her idol is Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, who also plays fingerstyle.
Great reaction. Fami played bass only in her room until she joined LOVEBITES. So this year was the first time for her to perform in front of an audience, including when she was an amateur musician. And this song is the first time for her to play metal music. I am glad that I wanted to know her playing style characteristics with such a unique background.
Well try Break the Wall LIVE to experience how great Miho/bassist (founder who put this band together) is on the bass. The talent in Japan is nuts as Miho goes here comes 20 y o Fami and LB doesn't miss a beat. If you want to see what a real guitat battle LIVE sounds like I strongly recommend Scream for Me LIVE. Forget battle it is a complete war. The Guitar Rescue Society put Midori and Miyako on wanted posters for the total abuse inflicted upon their instruments. A Wolfpack welcome to one of the best bands on the planet.
I only recently discovered Lovebites because Elizabeth over at The Charasmatic Voice did a reaction to them last week and I instantly fell in love. Asami is so tiny at 4'11" and yet has an incredbily powerful voice. It's, where does she hide all that power?
Thank you for your great reaction and welcome to the world of LOVEBITES. If you could react to these 5 geniuses from Japan continuously it would be happy for me. My recommendation is ; "Set the world on Fire", "When Destinies Align" "Shadow Maker" and"Holy War". Honestly speaking they have only masterpieces and I'm sure you could enjoy them.
I appreciate the kind words! I'll do more LOVEBITES soon enough, and it'll probably be one of these songs. I have to sort of tally the requests now and see which gets recommended the most. Thank you!
My holy trinity of japanese bands, Band-Maid, Lovebites and ASTERISM. So yes, you have to listen to ASTERISM now 😉 "Church" or "Dawn" would be a good start. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
Great reaction! Glad this channel exists. A couple more suggestions. "Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em down)" - Lovebites, dirty DIRTY bass "Mindset" - Gacharic Spin, as others said. F. Chopper Koga is a bass Goddess "Awakening" - Unleash the Archers, former bassist Niko Whitworth's finger style on a headless Kiesel is inspiring.
Thanks so much Zach! “Awakening” is recorded and goes up later this week! Gacharic Spin is also very soon too. Appreciate the suggestions and kind words 🙏🏼💥
The bass under the guitar solos, Fami played amazing and very unique bass line sounding like an escalating heart beat of a dangerous beast. Hard to believe that was out of the fingers of 20 years old!!
Lovebites have taken the best of different "old school" metal styles from the eighties to the next level! I'd say you can't go wrong with any of their songs. BTW, there is a clip in which someone has extracted the bass and the drums of "Judgement Day": ruclips.net/video/r_KK0mfSSHQ/видео.html For some really interesting and clearly audible bass-playing, I recommend the Progressive Thrash Metal band Watchtower. When their second album "Control and Resistance" was released in 1989, they were one of the most, if not the most technical Thrash Metal band around, which might also explain why some people refered to their music as Techno Thrash back then (has got nothing to do with Techno music!). If you are interested, try the song "Dangerous Toy": ruclips.net/video/1gLLX3thfZM/видео.html Already a year before (1988), the German band Sieges Even had released their debut "Life Cylce" also playing technical/Progressive Thrash Metal in a similar vein, though less jazz-y than Watchtower, which IMO is also highly recommendable, if you like interesting and prominent bass-playing.
Wolfpack UK 🐺 here, excellent review these ladies will blow your mind, they are arguably the best metal band on the planet right now,the Wolfpack will be able to guide you through the Forest of Lovebites music 🤘🎸🥁🎤🎹🎶🔥
Welcome too the Wolfpack. Thats what Lovebites fans are known as. They have 4 albums and 3 live dvd's. Believe the Hype they are Top tier musicians and write and play mind blowing Good ole Shred Metal. No Fluff, No Dud's just Bad Ass!

It's very nice to have a reaction with a special focus on the bass playing. Usually, the bass is a bit underappreciated, you know, it's there, but the lead guitars (and vocals) distract from it. Only if you focus on the bass, you really see, what the bass delivers. Haruna (dr) and Miho (ex-bass) had a special relationship, I'm happy, that Fami (bass) and Haruna (dr) also work together so well on the rhythm. Fami has a different flavor, but that will only add to LOVEBITES' sound...
This is a band now is my favorite, taking the place of once held Iron Maiden (Steve Harris plug here). I love bass heads, like yourself. Check out Stand and Deliver next, you'll love the intro. There are so many great live performances with their former bassist Miho. They are known for trading guitar solos between Midori and Miyako and then doing combined guitar solos. Check out live performances - Break The Wall - Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020, Holy War 2021 LIVE in Tokyo with lyrics, Shadowmaker [LIVE IN TOKYO 2021] The Awakening/The Hammer Of Wrath Live at ZeppCity, Swan Song & Chopin Intro [LIVE IN TOKYO 2020], Epilogue & DON'T BITE THE DUST [LIVE IN TOKYO 2019] to start
Every song has at least one solo by each guitarist, almost all have a guitar-harmony-duet. Some, guitars are unison/harmony throughout entire song. LIVE they are phenomenal. Their most recent MV is a contrast to "Judgement Day" in music & video presentation, as suggested, "Stand And Deliver" MV 2023: ruclips.net/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/видео.html These both have [cc] lyrics if a message of self-empowerment & personal-responsibility interests you, that is the basic theme of most LOVEBITES songs, woven through a wide variety of genre, metal sub-genre, classic-metal, Classical, R&B/soul, Hard-rock, Progressive, Thrash & Ballads. They are 'lone wolves' in Metal, hence, fans are Wolf-Pack. 🐺 Haruna "little BIG Engine" drums 🧡 (4'9"; 1.45m) Asami "The One & Only Voice" vocals/piano ❤ (4'10"; 1.47m) Midori "Crazy Shredder" guitar 💚 (4'11"; 1.5m) Miyako "The Golden Touch" guitar/piano 💙 (5'2"; 1.58m) Fami - bass (5'2"; 1.58m) From "Judgement Day" album forward. all studio & LIVE performances through 12/2021: Miho "Natural Born Head-Banger" bass 💜 (5'1"; 1.55m) nicknames given by the band 🐺
Thank you for this reaction video. Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018. 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward. Great reaction by Low and University❤❤❤❤❤ this band are the best band in world, musician incredible and talented skilled, master class.a lot song so masterpiece..all they perfectly technical in music
The pronunciation of "ふぁみ"(Fami) cannot be strictly translated into English sounds, but it is quite close to the pronunciation of the /fʌ/ in "fun" and the /mi/ in "meet" combined. Fami started learning the bass on her own at the age of 13. She wanted to join the illustration club in middle school, but a friend convinced her to join the band club because they needed a bass player. She started uploading videos to RUclips as "ふぁみ。" (Fami。) at the age of 16 (in 2018), and gradually gained popularity. At the age of 17, she had progressed enough to release a famous video of "エイリアンエイリアン"(Alien Alien) bass cover. Now there are many people who were influenced by her videos to start playing bass. Bacchus is a Japanese handmade guitar brand, and they have a Fami signature model (introduced in a video titled "【Fami‖ × Bacchus】シグネイチャーモデルベース【MV】"). It seems that Fami started playing their current headless Bacchus guitar in 2020. Lovebites is an all-female band that plays traditional heavy metal and power metal, but a notable feature of the band is that its members come from different backgrounds, including R&B, classical piano and RUclips, creating a unique blend of personalities. Although all members have outstanding talent, the band went on hiatus in 2021 partly due to the departure of bassist Miho, who was also the founding member. Auditions were held in 2022 and Fami was selected. The first release of the new lovebites was the album "Judgement Day" in February 2023. Therefore, most of the available Lovebites videos feature Miho as the bassist. Miho is also very talented, though.
Great, Lovebites, the queens of power metal - Haruna - drums, Miyako classical and electric guitar, Midori - electric guitar, piano and keyboards, Fami - bass, Asami - vocals.
Lovebites (stylized as LOVEBITES) is a Japanese power metal band, formed in 2016 by former Destrose members Miho and Haruna. Its lineup currently consists of Haruna on drums, Midori and Miyako on guitar, Asami on vocals, and Fami on bass. After signing to Victor Entertainment, the group released both their debut EP and their first album in 2017, The Lovebites EP and Awakening from Abyss, before performing their first overseas concerts at the end of the year. With another EP and album released in 2018, Battle Against Damnation and Clockwork Immortality, Lovebites quickly garnered international attention and won that year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band. Following the releases of Electric Pentagram (2020) and Glory, Glory, to the World (2021), bassist Miho left the band in August 2021. After a year-long hiatus, Lovebites recruited Fami on bass and released Judgement Day, their fourth album, in February 2023. It is their highest-charting record to date, reaching number 5 on both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts.
Welcome to Lovebites. Fami rhymes with Tommy. Fami is only 20 years old and loaded with talent. Since she was just hired in October and the album released 4 months later in February, she wasn't given much opportunity to really show off her skills in the songs, they were all written before she joined but they did give her a few places to add her touch to it. Another good song by Lovebites that features Fami is their other music video "Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)".
Love the band, haven't heard of them before so thank you for exposing me to it. Some of my favorite bassists from Japan are probably Haraguchi of Nemophila, and Akira from The Oral Cigarettes. Both have really great chops at least imo.
Thank you for your precise and very good reaction to Lovebites. Please react to other of their songs and to the band Nemophila, the next phenomenal japanese Metal Band. I can´t stop listening to Lovebites, Nemophila, Band Maid and other Bands from Japan. They opened a new Horizon of Rock Music. Best greetings from Vienna
Bacchus is a really good quality bass. MIJ instruments are on par with Fender MIA. I have two MIJ basses. Fami plays her signature Bacchus bass. For the bassists, you need to check out Gacharic Spin - F-Chopper will blow your mind. And Babymetal - Boh is one of the best, check out Rondo of Nightmare. Also check out Maximum the Hormone. Japanese rock/metal is very vibrant right now. Also check out Kiyoshi - she is a bassist/singer/composer, and the most impressive bassist in Japan to my mind. But she is a totally different vibe
they recently dropped "The Hammer of Wrath" from the new DVD... Fami takes this song to a new level, something it didn't need but we appreciate it all the same.
There are two song that you have to hear: "Bravehearted" (first section - long version 2023) studio live for the FAMI presentation and "Stand and deliver", always studio live. Thank you for the technical comments! Ah, if you want to watch FAMI before Lovebites, 3 years ago: ALIEN, ALIEN from her home (17 y.o.).
"Bravehearted" Studio-LIVE 1st song with Fami official "5th Element": ruclips.net/video/_66Ug5c3aJo/видео.html (with embedded lyrics) This song, words & music by drummer Haruna.
For other Lovebites songs "Stand and Deliver" and "Holy War" (live) are both good ones, Miyako (stage right guitarist, dark hair) is also an excellent pianist which can be seen in "Swan Song (with Chopin intro)" or "Edge of the World." Lovebites is also kind of related to another Japanese band that is gaining popularity outside of Japan, Nemophila, both bands contain ex-members of Destrose and are on good terms. Destrose was a pioneering all female Japanese Heavy Metal band that never had commercial success and suffered from high member turn over (~19 members), it has spawned about a dozen bands and a handful of solo acts. Nemophila can be hard to classify as they are very diverse, but they are probably closest to Metalcore. Their latest song is "Rise" but "Revive" and "Dissension" are also good, they also have a large selection of covers.
Interesting to hear a bassist's pov for once. I would ask you to listen again and listen to the drummer, Haruna. Her accents are out of this world sometimes. and for a different sound of lovebites I would recommend Stand and Deliver. It's more of a Motörhead/thrash rocker. Very bass forward too.
In which guitarist Miyako simultaneously plays guitar and piano at 3:14. I know, it's ridiculous. But she is a classical concert pianist, too. ruclips.net/video/4OBf_Gn8efs/видео.html
Hey this way late but is a video out of Fami playing this song live where they concentrate on her the whole song, pretty damn impressive, well worth the watch
If you want to know the actual pronunciation of "Fami", you can listen to it at the beginning of a recent video entitled "皆様に大切なお知らせがあります / Fami。". Many people may be surprised that the pronunciation is quite different from what they thought. The Japanese "a" (あ) is said to be close to the English /ʌ/ sound (as in fun and hut) and particularly similar to the British English (Received Pronunciation) version. It is also relatively close to the English /a:/ sound, but the Japanese "a" (あ) does not require opening the mouth as wide or prolonging the sound.
One of the aspects of Lovebites is the vocalist Asami. She has a great voice (not usually found in metal/thrash). As you said, all the musicians in this band is fabulous
Band Maid, LOVEBITES, Nemophila, they have a big fan base in Japanese matal band. The largest fan base have BABYMETEL. However, the band which I recommend is Gacharic Spin. Please check out Gacharic Spin "Mind set" and "I wish I" .
welcome to LOVEBITES, these ladies are friggin awesome, write their own music and lyrics, all songs are good, the Wolf Pack will come to assist you in your journey with LOVEBITES, Holy War is excellent choice, Shadow Maker from 2021 also excellent, LOVEBITES best experienced with live versions......enjoy...I certainly do!!!!!!!
Staying in Japan, I'd like to recommend two of my favorite groups when I want to hear *_great_* bass playing. They're both instrumental trios, but they're quite different from one another. The first group is Asterism. I'm going to recommend their song "Church." ruclips.net/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/видео.html The second group is Paranoid Void. Here's the link to their song "ukiyo." ruclips.net/video/LIP0uf6Lpco/видео.html
Also check out Gacharic Spin (2009-Present). Bassist and co-founder F. Chopper Koga (Koga san) is an absolute beast of a bassist. Just a short list of some of my recommendations: Mindset, I Wish I, Hunting Summer, Lock On, Jyoshiki Destroyer (live), Kakuhen, Shaki Shaki Shiite, Broken Lover (live), Renai Switch (Studio/live), Generation Gap. I could go on and on but these songs are essential if you wish to hear yet more top tier bass playing coming out of Japan. As others have mentioned in the comments section, the whole music scene in Japan just seems to be operating on a whole orher level or plain of existence to that of the West. Just the sheer array of talent coming from the land of the rising sun is absolutely mind blowing.🤯🤯✌️❤️❤🤘🌏
At the moment they are one of the best metal bands! They are all unbelivable talented! This is the next level in metal now! Check out anothe song from the new Album: Stand and deliver - another fantastic song! And so many of their other stuff are fantastic!! Suggestions: Edge of the World, Swan Song (with Chopin Intro), Holy War and many more!
I really enjoy watching your reactions. I love how quickly you pick up on things. Must be the musician's ear, which I don't have lol. Lovebites and Band-Maid are awesome and were my gateway to Japanese music. There are so many amazing musicians over there. My favourite Japanese bassist is Tomomi from Scandal. Their song A.M.D.K.J. is a great example of what she can do.
Steve, I really appreciate the kind words! I've done a lot of ear training over the years, and having perfect pitch really helps (although it's kind of a curse that drives me crazy occasionally). I'll check out Scandal ASAP!

So pleased you checked out Lovebites after your Band Maid video. Fami has bought a breath of fresh air and what a way to break your band's hiatus with this epic song.
Fami was pretty incredible to watch! WOW! What’s the next LOVEBITES song I should do?
"Stand and Deliver" is the only other music video with Fami in the band. All the other Lovebites videos are with their original bass player, Miho.
Definetly Soldier Stands Solitarily or Dystopia Symphony
Next LoveBites song: “Break The Wall” Live! 🤘
No music video but Soldier stands Solidary ! 🤘🔥🔥🔥🇿🇦🐺🤘
(I think you can find it quickly if you search)
I think she was 17 at the time (20 now). At that point, I think she knew she was a complete bass player.

(She won the Bacchus signature model at a young age.)
Fami just joined LOVEBITES about half a year ago, so the LOVEBITES songs she is performing are about 10 songs included in "Album: Judgment Day". There is a surprise no matter which song you choose.
Before Fami joined LOVEBITES, her predecessor Miho was active as a bassist. (Many people will explain the history of the band.)
If you are familiar with metal/rock, it may be certain to listen to the songs they cover in order to check the power of LOVEBITES. (There are two songs covered by LOVEBITES)
*Eagle Fly Free (Helloween cover)
* Painkiller (Judas Priest cover)

Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981).
Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” ruclips.net/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/видео.html
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc.
As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
Here are more clips you should check out:
“Set the World on Fire” ruclips.net/video/99zsH6iG_6c/видео.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
“Don’t Bite the Dust” ruclips.net/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/видео.html, from the same concert;
"Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: ruclips.net/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/видео.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: ruclips.net/video/lXh_uMM94jU/видео.html;
Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html;
And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” ruclips.net/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/видео.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
"Shadowmaker" ruclips.net/video/Brmoln5Gxus/видео.html
This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
"When Destinies Align" ruclips.net/video/hLFelI93VkM/видео.html
"Glory to the World" ruclips.net/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/видео.html
"Winds of Transylvania" ruclips.net/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/видео.html.
Lovebites is doing there first us gig in Atlanta Georgia next Sept . Progmetal festival.
Got my tickets Oct 21 this year
Well, thanks for reacting to these insanely talented ladies. 2 quick things: 1. they are not just “power” metal, ‘cause they have also thrash/speed/classic metal songs. 2. They are even better live (the Zepp Divercity concerts in Tokyo are the best)
This rabbit hole will be full of surprises 😉🐺🤘🏻
Aside from her signature Bacchus headless bass, Fami also plays a Freedom Custom Guitar Research Rhino 5st bass in the video. F.C.G.R. is a small very high end maker from Japan. Fami uses the F.C.G.R. bass in the Stand and Deliver video.
Great reaction video dude.
I've been a Metal-er since I first heard Metal in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High (the first two Metal songs I ever heard were Haunting The Chapel by Slayer and Ride The Lightning by Metallica). Back then there was no such thing as "power metal", but instead from the early 80's through the late 90's Heavy Metal had only 6 TRUE subcategories of Metal, which were:
1 - Heavy Metal;
2 - Punk Metal;
3 - Speed Metal;
4 - Thrash Metal;
5 - Death Metal;
6 - Black Metal.
Stand and Deliver could be a good choice . Its from the same Album
Great reaction. I really enjoyed your bass guitar analysis as well. Wicked bass tone too by the way.
😎🤘
Miho, the original bassist, is also fantastic, though she has a different style. One of the first things I noticed the first time I heard Lovebites, as a bassist myself, was that Miho was playing fingerstyle at these insane tempos that would have most metal bassists using a pick. Her playing fingerstyle makes sense, because her idol is Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, who also plays fingerstyle.
Nice! I should go back and check out some material from when she was in the band. Sounds like she was just as talented. Thanks for stopping by Rik!
Nice! And you should check out the band“asterism”🤘🏻
Misa and Fami are on another level with the bass skills. Both are virtuoso on bass. I am glad you are able to check out 2 of my favorite musicians!
You really want to be blown away by these ladies?? Then "Holy War" live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020... You won't be the same!!
I’ll look it up!! For the next LOVEBITES video, I’ll try to do a live show video ☺️
Fami is playing her decdicated signature handmade bass guitar named "FAmi" from Bacchus...
I only recently discovered Lovebites because Elizabeth over at The Charasmatic Voice did a reaction to them last week and I instantly fell in love. Asami is so tiny at 4'11" and yet has an incredbily powerful voice. It's, where does she hide all that power?
I wonder what you think about the bass intro of the LOVEBITES song "Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)" .
I'll add it to my list!! Thank you Albert!
Thank you!
oww didn't know they have a new bass player !!! gonna check them out !!
Wow, just discovered another great band to listen to \m/
My holy trinity of japanese bands, Band-Maid, Lovebites and ASTERISM.
So yes, you have to listen to ASTERISM now 😉
"Church" or "Dawn" would be a good start. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
Thank you! Asterism is for sure on my list soon. Thank you for stopping by!
Great reaction! Glad this channel exists. A couple more suggestions.
"Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em down)" - Lovebites, dirty DIRTY bass
"Mindset" - Gacharic Spin, as others said. F. Chopper Koga is a bass Goddess
"Awakening" - Unleash the Archers, former bassist Niko Whitworth's finger style on a headless Kiesel is inspiring.
BTW, there is a clip in which someone has extracted the bass and the drums of "Judgement Day": ruclips.net/video/r_KK0mfSSHQ/видео.html
For some really interesting and clearly audible bass-playing, I recommend the Progressive Thrash Metal band Watchtower.

Check out live performances - Break The Wall - Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020, Holy War 2021 LIVE in Tokyo with lyrics, Shadowmaker [LIVE IN TOKYO 2021]
The Awakening/The Hammer Of Wrath Live at ZeppCity, Swan Song & Chopin Intro [LIVE IN TOKYO 2020], Epilogue & DON'T BITE THE DUST [LIVE IN TOKYO 2019] to start
Every song has at least one solo by each guitarist, almost all have a guitar-harmony-duet.
Some, guitars are unison/harmony throughout entire song. LIVE they are phenomenal.
Their most recent MV is a contrast to "Judgement Day" in music & video presentation,
as suggested, "Stand And Deliver" MV 2023: ruclips.net/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/видео.html
These both have [cc] lyrics if a message of self-empowerment & personal-responsibility interests you,
that is the basic theme of most LOVEBITES songs, woven through a wide variety of genre,
metal sub-genre, classic-metal, Classical, R&B/soul, Hard-rock, Progressive, Thrash & Ballads.
They are 'lone wolves' in Metal, hence, fans are Wolf-Pack. 🐺
Haruna "little BIG Engine" drums 🧡 (4'9"; 1.45m)
Asami "The One & Only Voice" vocals/piano ❤ (4'10"; 1.47m)
Midori "Crazy Shredder" guitar 💚 (4'11"; 1.5m)
Miyako "The Golden Touch" guitar/piano 💙 (5'2"; 1.58m)
Fami - bass (5'2"; 1.58m) From "Judgement Day" album forward.

Thank you for this!
These girls are off the chart good
Thank you for this reaction video. Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018.
2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany
2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England
2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium
2019 - Download Festival in Spain
In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona.

That bass is actually Fami's signature bass. The exact model is called the WOODLINE5AC-HL from Bacchus.
Great reaction by Low and University❤❤❤❤❤ this band are the best band in world, musician incredible and talented skilled, master class.a lot song so masterpiece..all they perfectly technical in music
This whole album is just awesome 🤘
Check out the all female Japanese metal band Nemophila!
Thank you for sharing!!
@@LowEndUniversity my pleasure
I’m sure Fami’s RUclips channel ia already pointed here, but here just in case. She’s unbelievable bassist. ruclips.net/video/Q_UqztwYAOU/видео.html
You CLEARLY know what you are talking about the bass. I enjoyed your review of Fami. Hope you do more Lovebites reaction vids
Fami doesn’t rhyme with Tommy unless you’re American.
Not to forget, she has her own album plus 650k to her youtube channel
Fami took the name from Family Dollar* convenience store
*oops
@@Chicken.Noodle190 Family Mart. Japanese don’t use dollars…🙂
@@alekhidell thanks
The whole band is epic in their performance but the dueling guitars are top tier IMO.
"Bravehearted" Studio-LIVE 1st song with Fami official "5th Element":
ruclips.net/video/_66Ug5c3aJo/видео.html (with embedded lyrics)
This song, words & music by drummer Haruna.
Brutal. Crazy chops.
For other Lovebites songs "Stand and Deliver" and "Holy War" (live) are both good ones, Miyako (stage right guitarist, dark hair) is also an excellent pianist which can be seen in "Swan Song (with Chopin intro)" or "Edge of the World."
Lovebites is also kind of related to another Japanese band that is gaining popularity outside of Japan, Nemophila, both bands contain ex-members of Destrose and are on good terms.
Awesome! I'll dig in soon and check it out!
One of the best musicians reacting to Lovebites!
I just found this band last night . Wow they rock . Guitars are killer
You need more Lovebites 🤘😎
Fami fits so well it´s so perfekt !
welcome to the world of Lovebites the world of beautiful ballads, heavy, power, speed, thrash metal.
In which guitarist Miyako simultaneously plays guitar and piano at 3:14. I know, it's ridiculous. But she is a classical concert pianist, too. ruclips.net/video/4OBf_Gn8efs/видео.html
Aun no hay un "live" de esta cancion, ya que es muy nuevo. Solo hay un Playback de un Tv Show, sigue reaccionando a Lovebites hay muchos temas interesantes del Cual el Bajo esta muy presente, como the Awakening The Hammer of Wrath "In Live"
Saludos y muy buen video, se nota que sacas muchas canciones de oido, eres muy bueno.
Keep the lovebites coming, just wait until you see them live🤘🏻
I'll do more soon. Thanks Shaun! I'd love to see them someday.
Hey this way late but is a video out of Fami playing this song live where they concentrate on her the whole song, pretty damn impressive, well worth the watch
Fami a multitalented bassist and Lovebites become greater. 👍👍
Lovebites are one of the most talented heavy metal bands on the planet.
One of the aspects of Lovebites is the vocalist Asami. She has a great voice (not usually found in metal/thrash). As you said, all the musicians in this band is fabulous
check out SHADOWMAKER live version from 2021. great raection and welcome to the wolfpack. right now the best metal in the world!!!!!!!
"Shadowmaker" LIVE 2021: ruclips.net/video/AHceq4gZkhc/видео.html
Band Maid, LOVEBITES, Nemophila, they have a big fan base in Japanese matal band.
The largest fan base have BABYMETEL.
However, the band which I recommend is Gacharic Spin.
Please check out Gacharic Spin "Mind set" and "I wish I" .
🤘
Wait till you see the Roland piano Swan Song live with the Chopin intro.
I've seen that mentioned here, super cool! Guitar player also plays piano?
@@LowEndUniversity There’s a studio video were she’s playing a keyboard one hand and the guitar the other serious no joking
Sheesh!!
Wolfpack is here.
🤩
welcome to LOVEBITES, these ladies are friggin awesome, write their own music and lyrics, all songs are good, the Wolf Pack will come to assist you in your journey with LOVEBITES, Holy War is excellent choice, Shadow Maker from 2021 also excellent, LOVEBITES best experienced with live versions......enjoy...I certainly do!!!!!!!
Welcome to lovebites and thank you for doing this reaction to lovebites, you will find out who's is lovebites LOVEBITES ROCK
Try Winds of Transylvania live it will blow you away how easy they make it look
Staying in Japan, I'd like to recommend two of my favorite groups when I want to hear *_great_* bass playing. They're both instrumental trios, but they're quite different from one another.
The first group is Asterism. I'm going to recommend their song "Church."
ruclips.net/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/видео.html
The second group is Paranoid Void. Here's the link to their song "ukiyo."
ruclips.net/video/LIP0uf6Lpco/видео.html
I'll check them out and add to my list!
Thanks so much for the info, Michael! Gacharic Spin is on my list soon!
Highly recommand to give Galneryus a try. They are pretty melodic neo classical& prog power metal band come from Japan
You might want to check any song from Unlucky Morpheus, another Japanese metal band that's kinda prog. I think you'd like them too!
@@LowEndUniversity Haha, yeah I can imagine it's a blessing and a curse. I can't imagine how many hours you put into it. Very impressive.

I have a weird one for you to check out from japan. It's power metalish and It's from a video game. Guilty gear - Roar of the spark (Ky kiske theme). Guilty gear series is a fighting game that's inspired by rock music and they write amazing music for it.
Sweet, I'll check it out as soon as I can!
Japan has this infatuation with slap bass. It has always had it and it's still going.
They have very unique sound because of that :)
Watch Fami's cover of "Alien Alien" on her solo channel. Amazing!

So pleased you checked out Lovebites after your Band Maid video. Fami has bought a breath of fresh air and what a way to break your band's hiatus with this epic song.
I agree! Such cool bands. I’m learning so much about the metal scene there the more I find these bands. Really awesome 🤩
You just discovered the most talented band on earth....
Either Hammer of Wrath or Stand and Deliver.
