Miyako the Piano player started when she was 3 yrs old. And became a concert pianist at 19. So 16 years devoted to the piano. She picked up the guitar when she was 18 and taught herself to play it. No formal training. She is an incredible talent.
Lovebites...incredible talented musicians. No sex appeal,no other tricks... The music does the talking. After 30 years of listening heavy power prog I can say This is a very very special band to me.They are one of my favourites. This is quality 100%.definitely not an ordinary band.
Prodigy level right there. Miyako is my all time favorite musician. She plays both guitar and piano at elite/prodigy level, and she' composes a bulk of Lovebites music. Go down the Lovebites rabbit hole - you will not be disappointed.
Jonathan I was completely blown away by her. I had no idea that was coming. Yes I would say she is a prodigy and plays both instruments at the highest levels. Mind blown.
Its so obvious how different the guitarists are as persons too. One is outgoing and expressfull. One is more introvert and dont want to show off. They are just different beautiful in their musicianship. Yes they have backtrack sometimes on organ, synth, and piano only. And only when she obviously cant play both at a time. All is played by Miako And yes some choir and intro for the concert is backtrack. Absolutely amazing instrumentalists.....
They really really are. Miyako is just a virtuoso player. To play guitar and piano like she does is amazing. Then throw in her composing and arranging abilities and wow!
Miyako "The Golden Touch" Watanabe is a virtuoso on piano as well as guitar, in her compositions, she loves to incorporate and infuse classical elements to create a new phenomenal sound to metal. This is her song and it is quite evident in the style she writes her compositions. All five women are trained pianists but Miyako and Asami are the only ones who do play the piano on specific songs. So, because of this style of writing many confuse Lovebites as being symphonic metal and there is no way they are symphonic, otherwise they would have said in many of their interviews. Haruna is probably one of the best drummers out today, the way you witnessed her today on a two-hour show she is relentless and never breaks out a sweat. Asami the singer comes from RnB and Soul music background and she studied ballet as well, Midori started to learn piano at around two years of age and electric organ at eight but gave up both upon entering university and started to learn guitar at 20. She is a graduate of Musicians Institute Japan in Osaka and listed Kiko Loureiro, Nuno Bettencourt, and Yngwie Malmsteen as her biggest guitar influences. Generally speaking, Midori said that she plays the “flashy and aggressive” guitar solos in the band, while Miyako plays the “slower, more melodic” ones. Miyako has played classical piano since she was three and guitar since high school. Having grown up listening to classic rock bands like Deep Purple and Rainbow with her mother, Miyako ended up being very influenced by Ritchie Blackmore. But she has also been influenced by more modern guitarists, such as Timothy Henson and Scott LePage from Polyphia. It was Disarmonia Mundi’s Ettore Rigotti who inspired Miyako to start composing and arranging songs. Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, and began writing songs on a keyboard at fourteen. From elementary school up to high school, her favorite band was B’z, but she became interested in heavy metal after hearing Halloween’s Master of the Rings. As a result, she stated her basic drumming style is that of Uli Kusch. She met Miho and plays drums in Destrose, another all-female metal band that disbanded in 2015. Lovebites were formed in Tokyo in 2016 by bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. The two met while members of Destrose, another all-female metal band that disbanded in 2015. Miho has been strongly into hard rock and heavy metal since junior high and started playing bass in high school. Her favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Pantera, Mötley Crüe, and Anthrax. She referred to her playing as more showmanship than technical and cited Steve Harris as a particular influence alongside the style of Nikki Sixx.
Miyako blew my mind. It makes sense that the guys from Polyphia were an influence on her given her age. Tim and Scott are beasts and so is Miyako. Wow to play guitar and piano like she does is incredible. Mind blown.
And he forgot to tell than Miyako also plays bass and Drums , not in stage but she plays those instruments when she composes ( she is the main composer of lovebites and she has at least 2 videos on yt playing bass. Greetings from Portugal 🐺🤘🐺🤘🐺
No matter how often I listen to Lovebites, I’m always astounded by their extraordinary talent. Swan Song is absolutely beautiful. The piano at the end is emotionally moving every time. Miyako is amazing.
@@bobcieslinski Apart from similar instruments like keyboard, synth and keytar, she seems to be quite decent on drums, bass, and vocals as well! She's a one-person orchestra, and could compose and arrange the whole stuff as well...
Fantastic band, for sure my best find in the last few years! Great commentary, and I look forward to your continued Lovebites journey of discovery! Welcome to the Wolfpack!
@@bobcieslinski They all have nicknames within the band, and Miyako''s is 'golden touch!' That said. they are all immensely talented musicians! And as stoic as Miyako appears while performing, she is quite personable and funny in interview! Cheers!
Thanks for a nice reaction! We are many Lovebites addicted...but sure not as many as the ladies deserve. But Japan is Japan...it seems its enough to be known there. So many incredible japanese girl bands, not known by many in the west
Mr. Cieslinksi, I found your analysis and reaction to this song refreshing and insightful because you are a music teacher. I grew up during the 50s and 60s when music was considered a very important subject in grade school and I know you can relate to the importance of music education. Many who react to Lovebites, particularly Swan Song, don’t really get the depths of talent that we’re witnessing with this band. You instantly saw that Miyako had years of classical piano training. She’s been playing since her parents started her lessons at the very young age of three. She truly is a world class concert pianist. I’ve subscribed, as one musician to another, to your channel because I hope to see more of your analysis of other Lovebites songs. Thanks for your reaction!
Thank you so much The Saturday Morning! I appreciate the kind words and insightful comments. These ladies are super talented and I am looking forward to hearing more of the music.
Thank you for your thoughtful and expert analysis, it is truly appreciated. The genius of Lovebites is their homage to Chopin "Revolutionary" Etude Op.10 No.12 with their lyrics (regarding heroic sacrifice for the battle that drove Chopin to create this memorable composition) in keeping it in the same C minor key and melding classical music with hard rock. There have been many collaboration of classical compositions with classical hard rock, but this particular composition should sit in the hall of rock and roll fame as one of the best ever. And yes, Miyako (the pianist/guitarest) is an extremely special talent. Unicorn status.
Welcome to the World of Lovebites ....the best heavy metal band existing on planet earth 🌏 Miho.....bassist and leader of the pack... sadly she left the band last year in August and the band has been in hiatus since. But they have had recent auditions for a new bassist and will be known to the public soon. Miyako...dark haired guitarist/pianist Midori...blonde guitarist Haruna....drummer Asami....vocalist All of them are spectacular, phenomenal, technically perfect musicians with an aura of their own. 🤘 Miyako is a prodigy IMO Glory to Lovebites 🤘 🐺 🔥 Miho! Miho! Miho! 🤘🐺🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍
Great reaction. Welcome to the best band you had never heard of and wish you had five years ago. Lovebites are definitely the real deal and IMO one of the most talented and vesatile bands out there today. A once in a generation band and Miyako and Midori (blond guitarist) are one of, if not the best, twin lead guitarists, male or female, playing today. The question is whether Miyako (guitar/piano) is a world class classical pianist who is also a world class rock/metal guitarist or is she a world class rock/metal guitarist who is also a world class classical pianist. She has played classical piano 29 of her 32 years and started to teach herself to play the guitar around 15 years ago. You should check out 'Edge of the World', 'Set the World on Fire', 'Frozen Serenade', ''Break the Wall; 'Epilogue', 'Empty Daydream' 'Shadowmaker' and 'Holy War' to really appreciate the range and versatility of Lovebites. Always choose the live performances which fans prefer to their their studio recordings, and having watched 'Swan Song' you can see why. There are around another fifty gems like this one to go.
Thanks for the advice and OMG Miyako just completely blew my mind when she started playing the Chopin piece. That is not an easy piece to play and she made it look like she was playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She is a beast on the piano and guitar. So many fast runs wow! Mind blown.
@@bobcieslinski Luckily I discovered them back in the fall of 2017 and been a dedicated fan ever since. I am 78 and grew up with rock and roll from the mid-1950s and saw The Beatles, Stones, The Who etc., in the UK when they were starting out in the early 1960s. I would swap having seen those bands back then for a ticket to a Lovebites concert now.
@@bobcieslinski I am glad you pointed out that this etude by Chopin is the hardest which it certainly listed as such also including that in theory it is a teaching piece for left handed playing, but I am sure you knew that 😉. However there are other classical pieces inserted into this song take for instance the opening guitar solo by Miyako has a Bach themed piece in it!! All in all a truly magnificent performance!!
Lovebites is an incredible band, five pure talented girls you won't find a bad song in all their discography, unfortunately last year the bass player and founder of the band left but soon the new member will be announced, Great Band and Great Reaction thank you!🤘🏼🎸🥁🎤🐺💖🇯🇵🇮🇹
@@bobcieslinski Miyako is a fantastic musician, playing the piano from the age of three she started playing guitar at 18 using tutorial books, writing, composing and arranging many of the band's songs. I love all the girls but she's my favourite, thank you!
thanks for this great reaction and appreciation of this outstanding band. bands like lovebites are so rare. the lady with the two instruments is called miyako and also their main composer. they are influenced by the good old metal (iron maiden, judas priest, testament, pantera, metallica, anthray, slayer and more), but also from classical music. and they are able to combine that to fantastic lovebites metal. they have a backcatalogue of around 50 songs (first EP came out 2017) and there is no bad, stale or mediocre song in it. only very good songs, masterpieces and epic masterpieces (swan song is one of them).
@@bobcieslinski I´m so glad, that miyako likes classic and metal. another epic masterpiece of them, "empty daydream live tokyo 2019" ruclips.net/video/lXh_uMM94jU/видео.html, starts with rachmaninow. in the songs "dystopia symphony" and "winds of transsylvania" you will hear beethoven motives. it mixes so well.
So good to hear the thoughts of a musician on these women. Bear in mind that this song is just a part of a 2 hour show. Most of it at this speed. Miyako is a trained concert pianist. Started at the age of three. I think she picked up the guitar at about 18, or 19, and turned her attention to rock & metal. Praise the Gods for that. So many more songs in their catalogue to watch. Try 'Scream For Me' (live in concert) for some sensational guitar solo's. Fourteen in one song. Ten of them in Battle Mode. ruclips.net/video/acwkphgzNg8/видео.html
LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: miyako / both Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: midori ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) from Electric Pentagram 2020
Miyako began piano at 3 yo and was on track to be a certified teacher and/or concert pianist. At 17/18 she decide she wanted to play Rock/Metal music. Got herself a guitar and a "How To" book. NO Lessons!! She wrote the music for "Swan Song" with Asami, vocals, is the lyricist. Miyako and Midori, guitar, practice/rehearse in Miyako's home studio to ensure they stay in sync. The arts are still taught in Japan from an early age. Talent/ability is recognized and encouraged with an infrastructure to support them. There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan with about half all female. Right now the best rock band in the world is touring the US now, Band Maid. Japanese and all female! Suggestions: "Freedom" - "Domination" the live version for both.
Hello Bob, hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas. I’m just starting to watch your older videos. Loved your reaction and appreciate your deeper analysis. This song definitely features Miyako, piano and guitar, but I am happy you could talk about the other members, especially Haruna on the drums. I mentioned in another video I’m a retired band teacher but also I’m a still currently multi-instrumentalist in many genres. One instrument are the drums (I’m more of a percussionist than a drummer) and I find her abilities outstanding. I know I could not play at that level and I appreciate everything thing she does. Have a happy New Year 🎉
Thanks so much for thr kind words and it’s awesome meeting another band teacher. Thanks for watching your comments mean a lot coming from you. Happy New Year!
I like to see people react to LOVEBITES for the first time. Your reaction is one of the best, because you realized how amazing this band is. And you know, besides talent, the amount of practice and hard work it takes to be that good. Easy to understand, why LOVEBITES is my favorite band.
There are a couple of reactors I have seen that have dissed this performance as ammaturistic and nothing special?? It is really good to see a professional react to it and appreciate it for what it is..
Thanks for the terrific in depth review. Wolfpack USA here. Hope to see more reviews soon. The rest of the pack will point you in the right direction for future reaction material and explain the "inner" workings and history of the band members. Hope to see more of your reactions to them soon. 👹🤘🐺🐺🐺💯
Welcome to the world of Japanese Metal/Rock, so many great bands to check out. Unique composition that don't stick to the norms we are used to hearing, and the musicians been in most cases highly skilled.
The Chopin piece performed by Miyako (guitar/keyboard) as the intro is "Etude OP10, No12", known as "Revolution Etude" In 1831, an uprising of some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, dubbed the "November Revolution", failed due to the direct intervention of Russian forces. Chopin is informed of this news during his travels. he lost his place to return to. When the Russian army invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agents released "Etude OP10, No.12" in Paris. People called it a "revolutionary etude" because of the agent's exaggerated promotion of the song. Miyako composed "SwanSong" with reference to this "revolutionary etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony". Former ballerina Asami (vocals) wrote a poem inspired by Norse mythology and "Swan Lake" based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim fatherland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES can complete. LB's songs will give you new discoveries and surprises for each song.
Hi, its Esa from Finland. Iam very huge fan this amazing ladys so i just asking if you can reaction song Burden of time... miyako plays two instrument same time, piano and guitar...so i think you wanna see that 🤘
Another awesome Japanese band to check out sir is a all female rock band BAND MAID they also will blow your mind and also that was a great insightful reaction sir 👍

Miyako, classical trained pianist, has been playing since age 3. Current age is 32. Lovebites are evolving heavy metal to the next level, bringing elegance, refinement and a powerful positive message. They are the Metal Warriors, saving Heavy Metal from darkness & obscurity.🐺🤘
Thanks for the reaction! LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! For 5 years they have recorded about 50 songs and all the songs are very good! 🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals (in August 2021 she left the band). 🐺Haruna - drums. 🐺Midori - guitars, backing vocals. 🐺Miyako (Mi-Ya)- guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals. 🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano. "Etude Op.10, No.12" ( or "Revolutionary Etude") by the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. "Swan song" ( lyrics - Asami , music -Miyako) from the third album LOVEBITES "Electric Pentagram" (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of swans is amazingly beautiful. "Etude" by F. Chopin and "Swan Song" are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, "Etude" and "Swan Song" are played together. In an interview given after the release of the "Electric Pentagram" album, Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky "Swan Lake" . During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage, as in the ballet Swan Lake. Because the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured on video.
I don't want to sound repetitive, but I'm going to say it anyway, because it's true, This is the best heavy metal band today! The entire LOVEBITES discography is pure gold. Thanks for the great reaction! 🐺🤘 Asami👑❤️ Long Live LOVEBITES!🐺 Miho 💜 Thank You 💜
My friend your reaction is about the same as mine was when I first discovered this band a little over a year ago. Mind blowing talent, every single member, just amazing how they fit so many notes together so perfectly and at this insane speed. They do this song after song. Midori, the blonde guitarist, is just as phenomenal on the guitar as Miyako is. They both do amazing solos in every one of their songs. Check out "A Frozen Serenade" live next. 1:49 Great observation of yours, Bob. I heard that in some radio programme these days: Many aspiring pianists do not have enough reach in their hands to get enough distance between thumb and smallest finger while playing. That reduced their musical options, but some of them nevertheless practice, practice, practice, and spread their hands in spite of their pain, to the point that their hands ache or the joints, tendons, etc. even painfully inflame. That is sad, and absolutely absurd. All joy of playing leaves them, and just tension, frustration and the will to "make it to the top, no matter what" is left. But that is not the way it should be. Miyako is just made for music, and for playing "her" instruments. But if someone is just *not* made for doing something: Better let go, than ending up in tension, frustration and failure. No-one wants to listen to a bad-mooded musician without charisma but covered with bandages and "full of painkillers".
"Oh my gosh, and there's more!!" lol. Right there with you Bob. Curious was that the piano track at the end that was during the song. Minus the ending when she slowed down to warp speed.
Hey Ron, I tried to look back and see what you were mentioning and I only saw and heard her at thr piano okayjng which was her. If you heard a piano during the song and didn’t see her at thr piano then I would say it was a track they triggered. Thanks!
@@bobcieslinski I tried to go back and listen to the piano track that was playing when she was playing guitar during the song, and then when she sat at the piano at the end, it just seemed that it might have been the same piece. She is just amazing plain and simple!
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
Was just watching this again and Miyako said when she entered the music school, she realized she would never be as proficient as other students, which was in part why she started playing guitar.
@@bobcieslinski Oh, yeah, everything they have done is fire! Their live pieces are great, their M/Vs are great. Miho (the bassist) founded the group and sadly left when their 5-year was up, but the band did a global search for a new bassist recently, and I think we're all waiting with baited breath for some sort of comeback now :) And, yes, as others have said, I've seen a number of "top 5 female guitarists in Japan" lists which include both Midori and Miyako, and yet in Lovebites they effortlessly trade off rhythm and lead with each other, which is remarkable to those of us old dudes who grew up in the "standard American rock band" world where everyone kinda stayed in their lanes. I have spent the past 2 years falling deeper and deeper into Japan's metal / rock stuff. Pure gold.
Check out "under the red sky" the live version at Akasaka Japan. It is about the atom bombing of Japan in WWII. It's an absolutely amazing song and the crowd participation is good and the ending afterward is fantastic. Check it out!
Very enjoyable to witness the debut of your LOVEBITES experience. Besides your acknowledgment of "The Golden Touch" Miyako's piano skills, I appreciate your immediate recognition of "Little Big Engine" drummer Haruna. Her precision relentless dbl-kick work plus 'melodic' use of quick-decay 'china', splash & bell cymbals & drums through a plethora of fills/transitions that shape the foundation of these songs is unique in my 'drummer' experience over 60 years! Louie Bellson never dreamed the like! A 'feature' of LOVEBITES is how surprisingly unique each song is, different from the others, and their arrangements, modulations, breaks, break-downs, prog elements, and all those fascinating transitions with Haruna 'driving' the whole musical structure, in detail! Every song has a solo by each guitarist and only a few out of 50 lack a harmony-duet, though all contain many harmonized 'rhythm' parts (tremolo-picked palm-muted arpeggiated chords). Another aspect you noticed is "The One & Only Voice" Asami's "ballad" vocal styling over the hyper-guitars & drumming. The pace of the actual chord-changes support the vocal melody (as does Haruna's cymbal work, even while dbl-kicks are locked with "Natural Born Head Banger" Miho's hyper-bass-thumping). "Crazy Shredder" Midori & Miyako devote hours upon hours to their guitar parts before and during full band rehearsals. Each writes their own individual solo & collaborate on the duets. That they can perform like this for 2 hours is a testament to their fitness & training. Last song at least as demanding as their most challenging, and no visible fatigue or sloppiness EVER in any performance. All songs, including all solos, performed-as-written (no improv), note-for-note & beat-for-beat, and Haruna's 'drum arrangements' I do think are the most complex to remember, as you will see. Her timing on 'bell' use is becoming legendary, a 'trademark', as are the star-cymbals she 'adopted' before LOVEBITES. (btw, I am a drummer/guitarist.) I hope you find time to enjoy more LOVEBITES. I have said that their lyrics take them from 'a great band' to 'a meaningful experience' which you might have gotten a 'taste' of with "Swan Song". imo, humanity needs encouragement to self-empowerment, perseverance, integrity, dignity, personal-responsibility & unity-in-love, and that is LOVEBITES consistent 'theme', though often prefaced with honesty about the harsh-truths, pit-falls & challenges of life-on-Earth. Every song is 'worthy' but it will take watching/listening (with headphones) to at least a few songs in a row from a LIVE performance to really BEGIN to comprehend, not only their skill, but their talent in 'telling a story' with their songs. Also, to expand on your LOVEBITES experience most with just 2 songs, segued in performances, are as others have suggested, "Edge Of The World > We The United" begins as piano/vocal ballad where they lyrically ask meaningful questions & express their values, transitions galore through many genre, finding their way to offer encouragement & guidance. Both songs have [cc] lyrics and last little clip is end of show appreciation to audience & group-bow, a tradition. total time 13 min: ruclips.net/video/UZjxMjBop7w/видео.html 🐺
To be honest, the full encore playlist, starting with a Miyako-penned recorded instrumental "The Awakening > The Hammer Of Wrath" (Miho's thrash with amazing transitions!) segue to "Edge..." really explores much of their genre-spread, (only omitting the likes of Heavy-Slow-Swagger, Pop-Prog-Metal & Party-Rock.), but THRASH mixed with Power-Metal is a 'strong-suit'... If you open the above link, just start with The Awakening for full encore.
Thanks for thr great info and insightful comments. Pretty cool you are a drummer and guitarist. I play bass and then I can play all band instruments because I have to know them to teach my kids at school. I can’t wait to hear and see more from these ladies. They are amazing!
Thanks for the great commentary on this fantastic song by LOVEBITES!! 🤘🐺🤘 Miyako has been playing piano since age 2/3, picked up the guitar at age 19/20. All of them have basic notions of piano, but Miyako is on another level as you can see here! They play many styles from ballads to speed metal and all in between, they are phenomenal musicians and big fans of old school metal, Maiden, JP, Metallica, Slayer, etc. ASAMI - Vocals, MIHO - Bass (founder and leader, no longer in the band), HARUNA - Drums (founder), Miyako - Guitar, keys, Midori - Guitar. Miho and Haruna were together in a previous band and decided to form LOVEBITES! They wanted an old school metal band that sings in English! They dont go too crazy on stage, just not that kind of band, it's all about the phenomenal music!! Maybe try some thrash metal Break the Wall - ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html
Great reaction and so good to see someone who appreciates Haruna's drumming on their first LOVEBITES reaction. Its so easy to be dazzled by the guitars that I think she gets overlooked initially. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well I hope you are not referring to my comments because I’ve said it takes tons of hard work to get to this level. I believe some of these ladies are beyond gifted musically but to achieve this level still takes so much hard work. It’s not even the time but thr focused concentrated work that makes the most difference.
I believe that Lovebites currently has 45 songs in their catalog, not counting a couple of instrumentals. Miyako composed 20 of the 45 and both instrumentals. Three of the other members have also composed songs but in collaboration with a keyboardist/composer named Mao - Miho (10 songs), Asami (4 songs) and Midori (2 songs). Mao has written 5 songs for the band. Haruna has contributed one song which she wrote prior to the creation of Lovebites. Miyako and Miho have cowritten one song. Only one song, on their first album, was written independent of any member of the band or Mao. Other than the composition with Miho, Miyako works completely alone. She also works very fast. For example, the most recent full album called Electric Pentagram had 12 songs, 6 of which were written by Miyako (including Swan Song). She composed all six songs and sent out the demos before any of the other six songs. As well as she played in the video, she is really not a fan of electronic keyboards or plastic keys. She is old school and prefers the percussive nature of an actual piano as well as wood keys. I think swan Song would have been even better had she been at an actual grand piano instead of that Roland.. And if Miyako was not perfect enough, she is a huge Star Wars fan!
@@bobcieslinski She has a cute, little white dog that she named Wampa. A Wampa is the giant 9 foot tall abominable snowman type creature that attacked and captured Luke Skywalker at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back. It is a good example of her being a Star wars fan and also having a good sense of humor. Below is a link to a video of her talking about the piano she grew up with and Wampa makes an appearance at the end. I am not providing the link for reaction purposes but to give you, and whoever else reads this, an insight into her background and personality. She has made several of these type videos. I also know that she has given guitar lessons (and possibly piano as well) because she has mentioned her guitar students in another video. ruclips.net/video/hXzFdWXFGwo/видео.html
Always nice to see that it's not just me being all amazed by the talent of this band. You want suggestions for more treasures? Do you know Unleash the Archers - Awakening? Another highly talented and fast playing band. Or yet unknown but totally worth to check out? Fury - Burnout. Enjoy
Thanks for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word; they deserve more recognition. Well, it seems you’ve just been lovebitten, too. These women are extremely talented, skillful, versatile and proficient musicians. Some people say that they are redefining metal. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Their main influences are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Helloween, Angra, Dragonforce, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their own style. They really shine in their live performances.
Swansong is Miyako’s masterpiece. But the whole band is so ridiculously talented. Vocalist Asami plays piano (though to what degree I’m unsure) and she composed the song “A Frozen Serenade”. All the band members are gifted, and can read and write music, with a great depth of understanding. You didn’t get chance to see the other twin lead guitarist, Midori, in action. You get a snippet here, but she’s a match for Miyako on guitar…in fact Miyako defers to Midori, at least she did in 2017, I think she’s her equal now. If you like Swansong because it’s different, you’ll love “A Frozen Serenade”. ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html

These musicians acknowledge primarily that fundamentals; music theory, reading and writing as a sound foundation for compositions as well as facilitate the ease for being session musicians. But Miyako goes through the reverse. With a very commanding knowledge and application of the theoretical aspects and what more a proficient classical pianist, classroom sessions were already equipped into her, so what was required is a DIY mode of learning guitar. and thus we witness the result of her toil at these present times. Miyako is a very good guitarist, having a huge advantage of an impeccable control of time signature dynamics, which most fiery and flying finger guitar players do not possess. However, my thoughts are that Lovebites is Miyako's transition into the realm where she challenges her composing skills with the realization that she has a band of outstanding proficient accomplished musicians that she can relate easily in musical terms. Despite being young, she is smart to explore into the domain of musical maturity where her personal musical strength lies. Kudos to Miyako for being a composer first and a musician second.
@@bobcieslinski Midori started playing guitar at age 20 and went to guitar academy. Miyako was classically trained on piano since age 3 and picked up a guitar at age 18, she is self-taught on guitar, Miyako is also the keyboardist and main composer and arranger for the band, she also plays bass guitar and drums.
Go back and listen again how the tension buildup once the piano is over is all drums. Haruna starts with the kick one speed for a measure, doubles the speed on the next and the next. Genius, and then near the end when the intro riff begins again she does the slower kick, next measure lays off the kick and uses toms then the last measure back to the kick at full speed. Haruna is now my favorite drummer with all the little bits she throws in. All the ladies are phenomenal but on her instrument Haruna is just a notch higher than other drummers. Miho the bassist is the real genius gluing Haruna's crazy drums to Miyako and Midori's playing.
Great analysis and awesome review! Instantly subbed. I hope you to keep reacting to Lovebites because I only watch Lovebites and Wagakki Band in rock/metal genre on RUclips. You might've noticed that Revolutionary etude and Swan Song has specific meanings as a suite. It starts with Chopin piano solo and ends with Chopin Ocean Etude like piano solo. These two pieces also share the same theme. As you know, Revolutionary Etude is said to be written by Chopin in his desperation and anger for the defeated revolution against Russian autocratic rule. Swan Song is about death of heroes, dedication and sacrifice, honor and glory. The hero can be the Polish cadets, Ukrainian soldiers, fire fighters or policeman in your town, or even you as a mother or a father. The pianist/guitarist Miyako has been playing piano for tree decades as you guessed. She started piano at her 3 and started teaching her self guitar at her 18. She really is a genuine prodigy. Haruna the drummer and Miho the bassist/band founder/ leader (who left the band last year regretfully) have played solo only once in one of three cover songs. They are so stoic to play their role in the band. They strictly stick to each other keeping rhythm to support the whole sound and soloists as the basement of the band. They are the heart and the backbone of the band. Asami the singer used to be an R&B/Jazz singer as you guessed. She had never heard metal, neither knew anything about metal before she joined Lovebites through an audition. Lovebites wanted some special color in their band just like their white and gold costume with high heels. She is also a trained ballerina as well. The piano back track is supposed to be done by Miyako as you guessed. I suggest Epilogue ruclips.net/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/видео.html for your next reaction to Lovebites. It is a soulful slow ballad with great weeping bluesy guitar solos of the guitar duo. Midori the blond speed demon guitarist's band nickname is "Crazy Shredder" but you'll know she is not just a mere shredder but an emotional guitarist. This song will grab and shake your soul and shred it. My another suggestion is a most beautiful progressive metal with surprises, A Frozen Serenade ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html. I hope you enjoy your great Odyssey here. Bon voyage!!
I believe these ladies are top shelf when it comes to Metal in Japan, another Japanese band to listen to, although they consider themselves hard rock, is Band-Maid, in their genre they are the equivalent of Love Bites in theirs'
Lovebites deserves a million followers but sadly they are relatively unknown, especially in the USA. They have toured in Europe and the UK and played at a few major festivals in 2018 and 2019 but then the pandemic shut everything down. In August of 2021 the band lost their bass player and is just now about to announce the new person, so they haven't toured in a while.
Welcome into the fold!!! You have succumb to the Lovebites religion ha ha ha!!! The drummer, Haruna, never breaks a sweat but she is relentless. All the ladies are super skilled. Miyako piano and guitar? It gets better I believe what makes these ladies stand out is ..... The composition of their music and the ability to perfect this live xxx
Miyako is talent at it finest.
And the drummer.. who is only 4'8" tall never breaks a sweat.
Miyako brings tears to your eyes when on the piano. Very elegant player.
She really does. A world class 🎶 an in 2 instruments and I’ve heard she can play even more.
Miyako the Piano player started when she was 3 yrs old. And became a concert pianist at 19. So 16 years devoted to the piano. She picked up the guitar when she was 18 and taught herself to play it. No formal training. She is an incredible talent.
Wow that’s incredible. I wish we could all be like that but most of us it doesn’t come that easy even with practice.
Great reaction. Haruna is a human drum machine, she plays the drums along a piano backing track without falling off the beat at all.
Thanks Angela! Yeah this one such an awesome song for all of them.
Miyako has a supernatural talent.
You said it.
fantastic reaction!
metal + grace + elegance + beauty + sympathy + great musicians + great songs = LOVEBITES !!!
Yeah! I call it 'Class Metal'
Lovebites...incredible talented musicians. No sex appeal,no other tricks... The music does the talking. After 30 years of listening heavy power prog I can say This is a very very special band to me.They are one of my favourites. This is quality 100%.definitely not an ordinary band.
It's always so rewarding to experience Lovebites with someone who can see what a treasure this band is, and Miyako especially.
Miyako is soo special. Wow!
All is played by Miako
And yes some choir and intro for the concert is backtrack.
Mind blown.
@Sal Saucedo How is it that both of us know this history, and these so-called fans (most of the wolfpack) don't know shit. Tell them compadre!
And he forgot to tell than Miyako also plays bass and Drums , not in stage but she plays those instruments when she composes ( she is the main composer of lovebites and she has at least 2 videos on yt playing bass. Greetings from Portugal 🐺🤘🐺🤘🐺

Thanks for a nice reaction! We are many Lovebites addicted...but sure not as many as the ladies deserve. But Japan is Japan...it seems its enough to be known there. So many incredible japanese girl bands, not known by many in the west
Thanks for the kind words! These ladies are amazing. My mind was blown.
Great musicians!
Great reaction to a phenomenal band. These ladies are brilliant in every possible way and their songbook contains only jewels.
This performance is like what I like to call "Miyako Magic" :) And Miyako can play bass, drums and she a pretty decent singer...she's got it all!
Wow she is incredible
You're right - that was an experience. They are amazing and top of the line! Yes, they have a massive following.
Welcome to the World of Lovebites ....the best heavy metal band existing on planet earth 🌏
Miho.....bassist and leader of the pack... sadly she left the band last year in August and the band has been in hiatus since. But they have had recent auditions for a new bassist and will be known to the public soon.
Miyako...dark haired guitarist/pianist
Midori...blonde guitarist
Haruna....drummer
Asami....vocalist
All of them are spectacular, phenomenal, technically perfect musicians with an aura of their own. 🤘
Miyako is a prodigy IMO
Glory to Lovebites 🤘 🐺 🔥
Miho! Miho! Miho! 🤘🐺🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍
Yeah Phoenix Miyako blew my mind. She is a prodigy. To play both instruments at that level is mind blowing.
My favourite band for the last 5 years.
For "Swan Song" Miyako combined two of her favorite classics; Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony"
LOVEBITES🔥🤘🐺🤘🔥
All in all a truly magnificent performance!!

thanks for this great reaction and appreciation of this outstanding band. bands like lovebites are so rare. the lady with the two instruments is called miyako and also their main composer. they are influenced by the good old metal (iron maiden, judas priest, testament, pantera, metallica, anthray, slayer and more), but also from classical music. and they are able to combine that to fantastic lovebites metal. they have a backcatalogue of around 50 songs (first EP came out 2017) and there is no bad, stale or mediocre song in it. only very good songs, masterpieces and epic masterpieces (swan song is one of them).

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior

Miyako began piano at 3 yo and was on track to be a certified teacher and/or concert pianist. At 17/18 she decide she wanted to play Rock/Metal music. Got herself a guitar and a "How To" book. NO Lessons!! She wrote the music for "Swan Song" with Asami, vocals, is the lyricist. Miyako and Midori, guitar, practice/rehearse in Miyako's home studio to ensure they stay in sync.

The Chopin piece performed by Miyako (guitar/keyboard) as the intro is "Etude OP10, No12", known as "Revolution Etude"
In 1831, an uprising of some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, dubbed the "November Revolution", failed due to the direct intervention of Russian forces.

Thanks for the great info!

@@bobcieslinski A Frozen Serenade is a real masterpiece. That song are one of the best in my opinion.
@@rongray9858 it blows me away that she is that good on both instruments. Most people can’t even get to that level in one instrument.
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
Flugelhorn Man that is an amazing list of bands. No wonder Lovebites rock like they do. These ladies are incredible!!!
Was just watching this again and Miyako said when she entered the music school, she realized she would never be as proficient as other students, which was in part why she started playing guitar.
Wow that’s wild.
More piano LOVEBITES Edge of the World Live at Zepp Diver City in Tokyo,
hello Swan Song, I suggest you listen and watch a song by the Lovebites girls that is Holly War.
The original song doesn't have a Chopin intro. It's just a bit they put into the show prior to the song because it's in part inspired by his work.
Thanks for the info. I really liked hearing Miyako play that though and then go and shred on the guitar. It was mind blowing.
Love Lovebites, and, yes, Miyako is a pure talent, and no the drummer never ever stops. Ever. LOL
Love these ladies they are amazing! I found a new group I love. Wow!
@@bobcieslinski Oh, yeah, everything they have done is fire! Their live pieces are great, their M/Vs are great. Miho (the bassist) founded the group and sadly left when their 5-year was up, but the band did a global search for a new bassist recently, and I think we're all waiting with baited breath for some sort of comeback now :)
And, yes, as others have said, I've seen a number of "top 5 female guitarists in Japan" lists which include both Midori and Miyako, and yet in Lovebites they effortlessly trade off rhythm and lead with each other, which is remarkable to those of us old dudes who grew up in the "standard American rock band" world where everyone kinda stayed in their lanes.
And so, slowly but firmly, Japanese rock gets the recon it deserves.
When looking for impressive guitars and drums may I recommend Kanami and Akane from Band Maid?
(btw, I am a drummer/guitarist.)
I hope you find time to enjoy more LOVEBITES.
Both songs have [cc] lyrics and last little clip is end of show appreciation to audience & group-bow, a tradition. total time 13 min: ruclips.net/video/UZjxMjBop7w/видео.html
🐺
Miyako has been playing piano since age 2/3, picked up the guitar at age 19/20.
Thanks for the kind words and info!
Miyako could walk into any concert hall in the world, following any other pianist, and blow them off the stage imho.
Great reaction and so good to see someone who appreciates Haruna's drumming on their first LOVEBITES reaction. Its so easy to be dazzled by the guitars that I think she gets overlooked initially. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
So much to see and hear and I loved every minute of this. These ladies are beast in their instruments. So amazing and awesome.
@@bobcieslinski Well there's a lot more from them to come.😃
Yoshiki must be very proud s2
I have to complain always, if somebody comes with "she is so talented". No. It's work. Hard work, hours over hours, many years!
Well I hope you are not referring to my comments because I’ve said it takes tons of hard work to get to this level. I believe some of these ladies are beyond gifted musically but to achieve this level still takes so much hard work. It’s not even the time but thr focused concentrated work that makes the most difference.
Thanks! Next one: Holy War! Live at zepp diver city 2020
Wow ok I loved her already but now Miyako loving Star Wars. She is perfect.

@@danw6048 cute dog! Thanks!
Always nice to see that it's not just me being all amazed by the talent of this band.
You want suggestions for more treasures? Do you know Unleash the Archers - Awakening? Another highly talented and fast playing band. Or yet unknown but totally worth to check out? Fury - Burnout. Enjoy
Thanks Pat!
Thank Martin! I can’t wait to hear more. These ladies are so skilled and such a joy to listen to them play. Wow !!
Most world renowned guitarist especially from the Jazz, fusion, prog initially learn guitar the DIY fashion and later in their life enroll into school or colleges, such as Berklee, GIT and so forth.
Thanks for thr info Alek!
Masterpiece🤘🏻🐺🤘🏻
great reaction, please reacting more Lovebites. You will not find a bad song from them. These ladies are world class tatents.
I can see and hear that Sonny. I will be doing more in the future. These ladies are so talented. They are on another level.
Wow wow love bite my best band ever , thanks for reacting ⭐️
Say "mindblowing" one more time.... LOL just kidding great reaction!!
It really is mind blowing. 😂😂
Miho Miho Miho!
Welcome to the Wolfpack!
Midori and Miyako are one of the best metal guitar duo's nowadays!
They sure are. I was blown away!
@@bobcieslinski Wait until you see what Midori, the other guitarist does. She is phenomenal too.
Thanks so much for the info and the kind words! These ladies are amazing and I can’t wait to hear more from them.
I believe these ladies are top shelf when it comes to Metal in Japan, another Japanese band to listen to, although they consider themselves hard rock, is Band-Maid, in their genre they are the equivalent of Love Bites in theirs'
Lovebites and maids live in different worlds. Lovebites is a group of geniuses.
They would be incredible to see live.
Might have some news on this tomorrow, 10/21, if you haven't seen. Their YT channel has a countdown going so it seems big.
If you like this, you should react to Band Maid.
Miyako is a virtuoso and the group is full of talent i suggest frozen serenade
